Contacts lost on e97 after mail sync

Hello,
Yesterday i syncronised my mobile with my email account, but i just found out that it also syncronised my contacts. The problem now is that all of my phone numbers have been removed.
Does anybody have a clue?

I am having a similar problem. I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. Recently I (since my last sync) I had added a new email account to Outlook, however all my contacts remained the same. Today I synced my iPhone 4 with iTunes and when it was done, all of my contacts had disappeared from Outlook and my iPhone and have been replaced with just three contacts that I had added (in my phone) this past weekend. How can this happen and how can I restore my contacts? I am desperate to get them back. I saw the post here about iSync but I don't know what that is. Please help!

iTunes is not a contact manager. They will be in whatever address book you told iTunes to sync to. Outlook or Windows Address book on a PC, Contacts/Address Book on a Mac.

How do you get pictures, notes contacts and mail back, lost after update on IPhone5

Restore the backup that you made when you last synced your phone to iTunes on your computer. Alternatively, if you enabled iCloud backup on the phone, you can restore from the latest iCloud backup by going to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings.

  • How can I retrieve all the CONTACTS that were deleted after  the sync of iphone to Mac?

After I backed up my iphone onto my Mac computer I was asked If I wanted to save the photos from my phone. I said DELETE.   Then I discovered  my address and phone numbers (CONTACTS) went empty in the iphone.   How can I reverse my DELETE and get these Contacts back to the iphone?

iCloud maintains a database of your contacts which it uses to keep all devices and computers connected to the same iCloud account in sync.  If you ever wonder whether you've lost contacts because they do not appear on a device or mac/pc, you should log into iCloud.com using a computer's browser and go to the Contacts page.  You should find your contacts there.  If there but they do not appear on your device, see below for instructions.  If they are not there, then for one reason or another, they have been deleted.  See below for options if this is the case.
Getting contacts from iCloud to a device.
Your device/computer needs to be connected to the proper account in iCloud and have contacts set for syncing.  Go to Settings>iCloud (for a device) or System Preferences>iCloud (for a mac - can't help you with a PC, but hopefully you'll know where to go).  Be sure iCloud is turn on and that you have the right account.  If you need to change the account, scroll to bottom of screen (device) and tap Delete Account.  Find a similar button on a mac.  This will not delete data from iCloud, it only disconnects the device/mac from the current account.  Then enter ID/password for the correct account.  Next, be sure Contacts is turned on.  [If it has been turned on, try turning off and then back on.  If still not working, disconnect from iCloud and connect again.]  You should get your contacts back.
    Contacts are gone from icloud.com.
Then they have been deleted.  There are many reasons for this.  One possibility is that someone else is using the same iCloud account (family member, etc.) and they deleted contacts, thinking they did want them on THEIR device.  How to get them back?  Unfortunately, an iCloud backup does not include any of the sync databases, like contacts, notes, calendars, reminders, etc. because the data is already stored in these databases.  Your only hope for restoring the data is if you had that data on a computer (like a mac's Contacts, Calendars, etc.) and that data was backed up using whatever backup software you typically use (e.g. Time Machine on a mac).  Just restore the data files back to the computer.  Other than that, I'm afraid the data is gone.

  • Recovering lost ical events after accidentally Syncing with Entourage

This question seems to be in reverse to many of the posts I have read. I have always used ical as my calendar, however recently decided to use the Entourage program. When importing the my mail, I accidentally navigated to the sync portion of the import, I read the options and thought that I was going to sync ical to Entourage. It seems I did the reverse, Entourage wiped out my ical events.
Is there a library/system file which can recover the ical evetns?
Also since I am already on this page? all my mail files moved from apple mail to Entourage, but not the inbox of read items. Can these be moved?
Thanks for any help, hopefully I have not lost these items.

If you have made an iTunes or iCloud backup containing the Calendar events you can restore from that otherwise, if you deleted them with no backup, they are gone.

  • Lost my music after iTunes sync

    iPhone 6 - 128gb iOS 8.2
    iTunes 12.1.0.50
    MacPro 2009 - OSX 10.10.2
Yesterday, i plugged in my iPhone to my computer to add some new music that I purchased (though bandcamp, not iTunes, added manually to iTunes after download). My iPhone is setup to backup automatically to iCloud and set to sync automatically when connected. I have "Manually manage music and videos" checked as my music collection is too big to fit on my iPhone and I don't want my entire collection on there anyways. As per usual, I dragged the new albums from my music collection to the iPhone. After that was completed, I left for work, only to notice that I only had the new albums that I just added, plus a few random albums, which mostly look like they were purchased from iTunes. In total, I had 96 tracks of music on my iPhone, when I previously had over 6000. Today, I plugged my iPhone back into my computer, In the iPhone summary page, the indicator bar at the bottom still says have 45gb of music on my iPhone, and when I click on the Music tab under "On My Device" all the songs and playlists are there, not greyed out, with not sync icon beside them or exclamation mark. They look as normal as if there were on my iPhone. When I go to the settings on my iPhone, it indicates that i only have those 96 tracks. I deleted all the music from my iPhone, but I can't sync what iTunes says it already on my iPhone. ***?
I've done some searching online, but I can't find anyone that has had this exact same problem with same setup. I've read about the duplicate song problem, but that doesn't look like the problem. I really don't want to sit here and have to go through my entire music collection again and drag over the albums that I want.

You're not alone - many reports of the same issue - just spread across many threads.  I keep checking in hopeful someone found a solution.

  • Please help!! I lost all my contacts on iphone after I sync'd

    hey guys,
This afternoon I sync'd my phone to move some new downloaded songs, I pulled my phone off the docking station and I lost all my contacts.
please tell me they are somewhere in itunes. I have no idea how to move them back.
    anyone have any ideas.

    Hello miwung,
roaminggnome is correct in that you should be syncing your contacts with whatever contact management software you are using on your computer.
You can sync contacts with Windows Contacts, which comes pre-installed with Vista.
To sync both contacts and calendars you'll need either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. All of these programs need to be opened and setup (at least create one contact) prior to syncing per:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1347
If the contact information is in one of those programs, the content should be synced back to the iPhone the next time you sync.
If you weren't syncing to one of those programs. It is possible that the contacts may be in your iTunes backup.
If you haven't tried another sync since you noticed the issue, leave the iPhone disconnected from the PC for now.
    Open iTunes.
Open Preferences from the Edit Menu.
    Click on the Devices tab.
Check the list of backups. If there is one there that corresponds to the time when you last synced with your contacts on the iPhone, and the sync was not interrupted in progress, it may contain the contacts.
If you tried reconnecting and re-syncing after you noticed the contacts issue, the backup may not contain any recoverable data.
While you're in the Preferences, put a check in the "Disable Automatic syncing for iPods and iPhones."
    Connect the iPhone.
Right-click on the iPhone under Devices and choose "Restore from Backup."
If the contacts are restored, make sure you sync them to a contact management program from now on -- and you may want to check with that program's website on how to backup the data in the program as well.
    Good Luck,
    Charles H.

You should have restored the backup that was on your computer before syncing. Now it is too late. However, if you followed the instructions in the manual and set up an app on your computer to sync contacts and calendar to they will still reside in those apps. Photos in the camera roll are lost, however, if you had followed the instructions in the manual to copy photos from the camera roll to your computer regularly you can restore them to the photo app from the copy on your computer. Text messages are gone for good. Music and Apps should be in the music library on your computer.

  • Mail Rules gone after iCloud sync

I've lost all of my Mail VIPs, Rules, and signatures.
I had two iCloud accounts.  After backing-up all vital documents and data, I put everything under ONE iCloud account.   Upon doing this, all of my vital custom features (VIP list, siggys, rules) have gone missing.
I'd like to use Time Machine to go back and restore these critical aspects of my Apple Mail experience.
    1. Where should I look for the original rules, signatures, and VIP list?
    2. Where do I restore the old data, such that it works with my current iCloud?
THANK YOU to anyone who can help me correct this set-back!

    Thank you Eric,
I wasn't clear at all in my OP, please forgive...
I do indeed see/know where my root user Library folder is.  And within that folder the Mail folder, I see the V2 folder, and within that, the MailData folder, which contains all sorts of files.  Several of these files indicate they have something to do with Rules, VIP lists, and Signatures.  (Opening to preview these files in Time Machine even shows the data, albeit in code — of these assets as they existed when working.)
Upon attempting to restore these specific assets, the backups from Time Machine are NOT restoring the lost rules, signatures, nor VIP lists.
What's making this situation unique is this:
These sorting features WERE there when I had mail syncing under two iCloud IDs. In an attempt to "unify" my iCloud experience (across my MacPro, iPhone, and iPad) — I thought my rules, siggys, VIPs were under the "master" iCloud account.  Evidently,  they were not, and I deleted the account which contained these Mail function assets.
Currently I'm at a loss, as to where I can find the backup of those original assets — and where they go once I locate them in Time Machine.  OY!!

  • How to restore lost data after accidentally syncing iPhone to new computer?

So, I've been reading around the forum on the correct stepst to syncing an iPhone to a new computer in order to keep all data. Unfortunately, I only saw these discussions AFTER automatically syncing my iPhone with my new computer. So all my phone contents and settings are gone and only my apps remain, because they're still on my iTunes. My question is: is there are painless way where I can restore all my lost data (e.g. contacts, phone setting, VPNs, camera roll photos, messages, etc.) onto my phone again?

lucky you have something left. in my case, i lost my first iphone so i bought a new one and im trying to register for online support and syncing it i just lost all the data in the new phone... all i have is this emergency call on the screen...please help....

  • HT1386 After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.  Need help!!

After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.

    You don't.
You synced your iPhone with iTunes for the first time after how long?
And this didn't happen by syncing only. This means you transferred the backup for another iPhone or you restored the iPhone with iTunes. It is not possible for everything to be lost by syncing alone. All iTunes content on your iPhone can be lost but not any photos in the Camera Roll and the same for contacts unless you synced contacts with an empty address book application on your computer.
