Contacts not synchronized

Hi everyone,
I am kinda desperate with my iCloud issue. I use an iPhone 5 and an iMac. I have created new contacts on my iPhone and thought via iCloud those would be transferred into my iMac contacts via iCloud. Somehow that does not seem to work properly. Othewise iCloud works fine (calendar, reminders) but for the contacts it is really weird - one example: when I created my contact info for my Mom on the iMac I only added her e-mail address. On the iPhone I added her phone numbers and her address and such. Then I would have expected to get that data onto my iMac - but nothing happened. I tried to turn iCloud off and shut down the computer and turn iCloud back on again (as it says in the problem solutions web site) but that did not help.
Does anyboby know how to fix this? It is kind of annoying. I mean, what's the point of the iCloud then?

I managed to figure out a way to at least get my primary contacts folder (cleaned up after the first few sync fiascos) on my iphone without all the other subfolders. I created a new subfolder called iphone contacts in outlook and then copied the contacts folder to it. I wasn't able to simply just highlight the contacts folder and copy the entire folder however - outlook doesn't let you copy the primary contacts folder to a subfolder. So I did a search and found another forum where someone had found a way to get this done that would never have occurred to me - gotta love forums
So here's how to do it....click on main Contacts folder to highlite, then click on edit > select all > edit (again)>copy to folder > then in the screen that pops up click > iphone contacts (or whatever folder you created and named). Voila! Then I reopened itunes (very important to refresh so new subfolder shows up in the list there) and cancelled the sync right away (so I didn't have the same nightmare with a new sync before I could change my sync settings), deselected sync all contacts and selected just the iphone contacts folder now appearing in the subfolder list. I also selected the advanced sync setting (at the bottom of the page) to one-time sync from just computer to iphone so I could get rid of all the other duplicates etc. that were still on my iphone. Worked like a charm! Contacts are now as they should be - in the same format as my outlook contacts folder with no duplicates or empty fields etc.
Now going forward, I can sync back and forth from my outlook iphone contact subfolder to my iphone contacts and then just update my primary contacts folder in outlook after a sync by copying all contacts in the iphone contacts subfolder to the main contacts folder (same way as above) - just have to make sure to click "update all" in the window that pops up when copying. A few more steps but problem resolved.

Contacts between the two apple devices are synchronized properly, but this does not happen with outlook even if the option to synchronize contacts is active.

Hi,
I have an iPhones 4s with iOs 5.1.1 and iTunes 10.6.3.25 (on Win 7)
and I use Outlook 2007, nd I have many contact folders in it.
I want to sync only some of my contacts folders. But this does not work!
I think this did work properly withj my iPod 3 with an older iTunes (or iOs Version?), but now it has the same problems:
in iTunes I uncheck the option 'all contacts' and selected the groups I want to sync:
Problem 1:
Outlook has no groups. So what is meant here? The categories or the folders?
It seem to be the folders (so the text here should be changed), but not all are displayed and...
...Problem 2:
the main contact folder is NOT listed at all and is NOT synced!
Problem 3:
contact folders created at the same level to the main contact folder are NOT displayed, but some of its contacts ARE synced to the iPhone.
Problem 4:
sub folders of contact subfolders are NOT displayed.
So, I have many iomportant contacts in Outlook which are not synced to my iPhone
And I have several contacts which appear twice at the iPhone (I have subfolders of contacts with same contacts as in other folders which I need for testing)
Has anyone an idea, or can someone post these problems/bugs to Apple? thanks

GMail not deleting / gmail contacts not synchronizing

I've got GMail configured to use exchange on my iPad. Starting yesterday, I've started having problems deleting email. When I attempted to delete an email, I'd get an error stating that the message "couldn't be moved to the trash". So I deleted and recreated the account, and now the error still occurs intermittently, and my contacts won't download - but I can query against my gmail address book.
Any suggestions?

I have had the same problem if I am on WiFi only, and I am NOT logged in to the internet.

Slave instance can not synchronized with the master for a long time, and the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger. The transfer bytes per second between master and slave is 118MB/s , upper limit to the ethernet card. Why???
ENVIRONMENT:
1. A network program which we called mcdb is based on BDB 4.8.30. It is used to accept get/set requests and then query data from bdb or save data to bdb.
2. mcdb implements replication with bdb replication manager api. The default start replication policy is DB_REP_ELECTION, rep ack policy is DB_REPMGR_ACKS_ONE_PEER and rep priority is 100.
3. The bdb data files, bdb log files, region files and rep files are all in the same home directory.
4. There are two instances of the mcdb are separately on two standalone servers which has no other programs. These two instances are in one replication group which can elect a master automatically.
5. The master instance is online, which has lots of requests (get, set, delete).
ACTIONS:
1. Start two mcdb instances on two servers and the two instance make a replication group. Slave has already synchronized with the master.
2. Stop the slave for a long time (more than 20 hours).
3. Start the slave instance to synchronize data with master.
RESULT:
1. the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger.

Hi,
Unfortunately, this issue is beyond the level of what is supported over the forum. Performance related issues are extremely complex and require an in-depth understanding of your environment and dedicated support. In a generic sense, you can look at this as a basic queueing problem. You have a server that went down and work is still coming in. When the server gets started it is possible that it may never catch up depending on new work coming in and the rate at processing the old work.
So what would you do in this case --- one thing would be to reduce the new work coming in. In HA terms this would be slowing the master down and you can increase DB_REP_ACK_TIMEOUT for this. Another thing you could do is add fresh servers to help reduce the workload. In HA terms, this would be the equivalent of restarting the client and give it a fresh look at everything. Another thing you could do is replan the system and load balance. In HA terms, it would mean something like take a hot backup of the master and reinit a client from scratch.

Outlook 14.4.8 not synchronizing with Exchange 2007 anymore (shows "downloading" but no new messages shown in inbox"

Outlook 14.4.8 on iMAC Retina and Yosemite 10.10.2 is not synchronizing with Exchange 2007 anymore (shows "downloading" but no new messages shown in inbox".
Accessing Mails with Webbrowser and from Windows Outlook is working correctly.
All Macs (also the ones with OS 10.6.8) do not anymore show any new messages in inbox.
Restarted Server, tried to disable autodiscover on macs and deleting/adding account and repairing database does not fix the problem. Also restarted server several times.
We have the same problem on 2 imacs retina with yosemite and on 2 mac pro with 10.6.8 and different office 2011 versions.
i tried to configure the exchange account in apple mail on yosemite and it also states "connected" and does list some folders but no new mails are getting in.
Windows clients and outlook on them works and syncs fine, and also when connecting via webbrowser at owa it must be a mac-specific/webdav issue.
exchange 2007 Sp3 Version 8.3 (bild 83.6) and Update Rollup 15 for sp3 (automatic updates "HIGH" for server and clients)
there is one update popping up again and again even after everytime successull installation: Windows Mlicious Software Removal Tool x64 - October 2010.
i tried to configure a new user with empty mailbox and configured it with microsoft mail (mac - yosemite) as exchange and was able to send a mail from there (even if quite delayed).
but there are not coming in any mails.
same exchange accounts triggered by imap do work and also via owa.
Exchange Accounts in Outlook for MAC and also in Mail (Yosemite) do show the folder structures but there is no mails showing up. I can send mails from the exchange accounts created but they seem to be processed with a delay of like 15minutes and outlook
is giving error "end of file reached" but messages are send after some time.
Does seem like EWS is extremely slow, to slow perhaps to sync and therefore ending in timeout.
Also i cannot reach the server from externally over ssl https 443. if testing port 443 of exchange from outside the port seems closed even firewall settings of sbs 2008 and sonicwall ports are correctly open.
could it be there is something in regarding webdav which is very slow and leading to timeouts ?

Since Outlook running on Windows works well, it seems an issue on the Mac side. I suggest ask Mac for help so that you can get more professional suggestions.

Please try to verify whether there is any expired certificate from the computer personal store.

IPhone 3GS / Exchange 2007 - One Contact Not Synching

Hi there,
We have a 3GS phone that is not synchronizing 1 contact (only the one we know of about 250+) when the contact is definitely in the users Outlook 2007 / Exchange 2007 system. As best we can tell, all of the users other contacts our showing up fine on the iPhone.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The wrong contact Group was selected. Once we selected the Exchange accounts "Contacts" all the accounts were there.

Old conversations are not synchronized with new MacBook Pro

Yesterday I purchased the newest Retina MacBook Pro (medio 2014), upgraded to Yosemite and started installing and setting up my applications. Sadly, I seem to have a problem with iMessage, since it's not synchronizing my messages properly.
Up until now I've been using an iPhone 3GS, a MBP (medio 2009 w. Yosemite) and an iMac (late 2012 w. Yosemite), and everything seems to work fine, since all the devices share and can access the same conversation history. However, when I started setting up iMessage on my newly purchased RMBP, the conversation history with each of my contacts isn't synchronized even though I'm able to send messages. I tried logging in/out, delete/add my iCloud account, but nothing seems to work.
I assume all of my messages are synchronized with iCloud. Of course it would make sense if it took some time for Apple to recognize and synchronize the messages, but it's been 18 hours since I started messing with iMessage. Am I being to impatient?
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

It is a yes, no and maybe answer.
You have to grab several items form the old Mac and place them in the correct places on the new Mac.
As you seem to be using Yosemite all round that task is easier (that is a relative easier),
See this pic
Note the Path Bar across the bottom that list where this Archive folder is.
It can be shortened to ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Archive
(you can type or Paste this in the Dialogue box in the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder)
In the Messages folder is also an Alias that links to the Attachments folder. (I will come to that later)
You also need this spot.
This is Still in ~/Library but not in the Containers bit but just the Messages folder.
It has the Attachments folder and the various chat.db items.
Move the Contents of the Attachments from one computer to the new one.
Move ALL the chat.db items (I must admit I am not sure about leaving the incompatible ones behind).
Make an Alias of the Attachments folder and drag it to it's proper position (in the Containers/../../Library/Messages folder) (replace the one that is there so it is linked to the moved stuff).
Now go back to the Archive folder. If you are using the Show Path Bar (view Menu of Finder) then you can Right Click the folder icons
Select the Archive Folder and then Get Info on the right click.
At the Bottom highlight your name in the list for Permissions.
You Should have Read and Write Permissions.
If you now use the Gogwheel type icon you can see if you Own the Folder.
If it is greyed out like this one then you Own it.
However you are most likely to have to "Apply to Enclosed" items as you have just moved things.
Repeat for the Chat.db and Attachments (~/Library/Messages folder).
And then the Alias just to be sure.
There is not an Export option that would be simpler.

I have just noticed that my Gmail contacts are not Synchronizing.
I have checked the account and the Contacts is selected to Sync
Having checked my blackberry 9800 and gmail account I have contacts in both that are not syncing, Email and calendar are working perfectly
any help please

Did you ever find any assistance on this issue? I have a similar issue as of the past two weeks and have attempted to resolve it differing ways but nothing seems to restart the synchronization of the contacts again?

2.      Top right hand part of the screen select "Options"
3.     Select "See All Options"
4.      Select "Phone" menu
Check if you have 10 Devices registered.
If you have, you need to delete one of them to add your new Smart Phone to Exchange for synching
Check the "Last Sync Time" to indicate if this device is still active or not.

Looks like you restored your backup file to her phone. If you didn't back up your wife's phone first, then the data is gone, sorry.

Lost contacts, notes and reminders

HI! Today I lost contacts, notes and reminders on my iPhone. I checked on my iCloud account and everything is there, then I checked iCloud settings on my iPhone and all options are off except for Find My iPhone. I did not turn on everything because I am worried that I could lose information on iCloud. How can I restore my contacts, notes and reminders to my iPhone from my iCloud account?

How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade? Half of my contacts, notes, ect. were on my iCloud so have happily moved to my new iPhone but the rest are completely resistant. For example, on my iCloud I have 14 missing contacts starting with the letter A alone, however they are happily viewable on my old iPhone 4S and won't budge over into the iCloud.
There are also 3 notes missing yet still acessible on my onld iPhone 4S, the list goes on.
Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

Can I use Icloud to outlook sync only for calendar and contacts (not tasks)?

If I set my iPhone 5 as New am I going to lose my Contacts? I don't want to lose my contacts, Notes, Calender etc.

one question I have backed up my iPhone but if I want to reset it as a new iPhone just to see if that helps with the battery and I have backed up in iCloud also and if I do reset it and when I sign back into iCloud as a new phone I won't lose my contacts right? If your contacts, calendar, notes, etc. are synced to iCloud they will download back to your phone when you sign back into your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud. You can check to confirm that they are in iCloud by going to icloud.com from your computer and seeing if your data is there.
This explains how to update your phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623. But if you're running iOS 7.1 you already have the latest version.
