Contacts not syncing, but everything else does

hmm. after the initial setup of my iphone4 all my contacts on my mac were copied over. however, now my contact don't sync at all (either way), but my cal and everything else does sync. In itunes i have the sync address book contacts button selected and also made sure it sync all All Contacts.
Is there something in my Address Book on my mac i need to authorize the sync?

I have a very similar problem. The first time I plugged iPhone 4 in with USB, it copied only a handful of "contacts" that I previously added via iChat on the MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.4), and ignored hundreds of real contacts that I needed on the phone. Earlier than this, iPhone took a contact from LDAP; at that point, I checked on MacBook. That contact was removed from LDAP for unknown reasons, even though it remained on iPhone.
Then, I tried and tried and tried. Nothing happened - at least nothing appeared to happen. At the same time, I had been trying to get MacBook to sync contacts with gMail and other Google apps with no luck. However many times I tried to configure and reconfigure gMail sync, a ring icon appeared for a brief period of time but nothing would happen on the Google side. Some time after I stopped trying, however, the bunch of "Contacts from My MAC" magically appeared on iPhone, as well as in Google. The contact that iPhone previously got from LDAP now disappeared at this point.
But then, when I started to make changes, sync did not appear to happen. Is there a preset timer for sync?

I just bought myself a new Macbook Pro running Mac OS X v10.6.6
The problem I am having is that when I go into system preferences and click “Mobileme” and login in, I then sync my calendar and contacts. The little spinning thing runs and after it seems everything is fine and my iCal has my up-to-date Mobileme calendar but my contacts are empty with only the 2 defaults contacts (my own profile which I setup the Mac with and a mobileme something or other). No matter what I do, I cannot sync the contacts with Mobileme.
I have even tried the force sync from Mobileme to Mac by clicking on “Reset Sync Data and pointing the arrows from Mibileme to Mac” but still comes empty ??!!?? I followed the steps here http://appleslut.com/blog/mobileme/how-to-sync-mobileme-address-book-ical
This is getting really frustrating and Im wondering if there is something wrong with my Mac or Im just not doing a certain step??

First in a browser go to the mobileMe web site and make sure your contacts are still there. If they are continue to read this post.
Go to System Preferences->MobileMe pane and click on the Sync tab. In the Sync tab click on the Advanced button. In the Advanced drop-down click on "Reset Sync Data" and make sure it is set to MobileMe to your Mac sync, then save and do a sync to MobileMe.

Windows XP won't maintain connection - but everything else does

My Windows XP laptop will work fine on my Airport network, but after a while I'll consistently get the dreaded "limited or no connectivity" associated with an invalid IP address. Each time telling Windows to "repair" the connection it will reconnect and work fine for another few minutes.
I traced the problem to the wireless network configuration I'm using, which admittedly is a little unusual:
Airport Extreme b/g <--wireless--> Airport Express <---wired---> Linksys WAP54G
The Airport Express is configured to "wirelessly join" the Extreme's network, and I've wired the Linksys to my Express for a downstream wireless access point. I did this to extend my network without the speed penalty associated with WDS - it seems to work fine with my Macs - only the Windows machine won't stay connected. If I disconnect the Linksys, the Windows computer stays connected.
I examined my Airport Extreme's log and this is what the Linksys is doing (I omitted time server updates for clarity):

00:0f:66:19:17:ae is the Linksys.
Obviously this was overnight when no computers were in use, but note the time stamps: The Linksys keeps dropping in and out, consistently at periodic but not identical intervals, and obviously gives my Windows computer indigestion. None of my other equipment - Macs, Express, or my wireless printer - becomes "disassociated" unless they're turned off or asleep.
Is Windows just more intolerant of connectivity issues? And why does my Linksys do this anyway?

Well, I reconfigured my network to create a more conventional roaming network, and the Linksys still gives my Windows laptop headaches. I have no idea why it behaves this way and why only the Windows laptop can't cope with it when everything else does. The Extreme and Express cover my house adequately so I really don't need another access point, but if I ever do it will be an Airport.
I'm done with Linksys. They're cheap enough but I've spent so much time with the thing it's ridiculous. I'll never buy another one again.

I cannot sync calendars from the iphone to the ipad but works the other way aroung. Also music not syncing. Everything else seems to sync fine

I am unable to sync my calendars from the iphone 4S to the ipad but the calendars do sync from the ipad to the phone. Music also does not sync either way. Everything else seems to be OK. Anyone have this problem?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.
With regard to your music, what exactly are you expecting to happen.

App Store not loading but everything else is...

The App Store on my iPad running iOS 6 is not loading... It doesn't crash it just sits there and loads. Everything else is working and I have already tried turning it off and back on. Any ideas?

Ok Applecare Senior (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss. They are actually going to be calling me tomorrow to follow up on the issue. I will let everyone know if I hear more!

Facebook wont load but everything else does? can you fix this please?

For the past 2 days now when ever i try to log onto facebook it will not load the page. Everything else works just fine. Why is this and how can i fix this annoying problem so i can contact folks overseas?

Using Safari to access Facebook?
If so...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

My contacts are locked and I have shut the device off and still contacts are locked, but everything else appears fine.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

Itunes store does not load but everything else works

I have a problem opening the store. When I click on the store the access bar goes about half way and stops. Then after 60 seconds it disappears and the store is not displayed. It is a blank window. No error messages appear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but this did not work. I have turned off my firewall and this does not work. I am using the latest version of iTunes.
The computer is a Vista 64bit OS. I have another computer that has no problems on the same network so there are no networking issues. It is just this one computer. This did happen once before and I reinstalled at that time which resolved the issue. Now it seems permanently broken. I even reviwed the computer event messages and there are no clues there.
Any ideas? Any log files I can locate and review?

My iPhone phone function does not work. Everything else does. ?

I shut my phone off for a meeting at 4 today and an hour later when I turned it back on everything is working - except the actual phone function. Same goes at home. iPhone talks to home network for all aps but cannot make or recieve actual phone calls. I do not want to reset as I don't have a backup of my contacts from the contacts app. Phone is in endless seach mode, (Verizon Wireless) ???

They are closed. I will try them in the morning. Fortunately not an emergency.

App store won't recognize my id and password but everything else does....why?!

I have updates in the app store but can't get the items updated when I go to sign in. I enter my information and get "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance." I only have the one laptop so I don't know why it is now not being verified. I can log into anything else and have no problems at all. What can I do to fix this problem?

Iphone doesn't work in my USB ports but everything else does, and iPhone works everywhere else!

My iPhone 3gs stopped working in the USB ports. Camera wizard doesn't even show up. Phone doesn't charge through it either, but if I plug my phone ANYWHERE else (computers and wall outlets) it works fine. When I plug keyboards and mice into my computer, they get recognized right away. My phone was working on my computer just about a week and a half ago, but just completely stopped. Can someone help me figure this out? I've read hundreds of threads from all over but can't seem to find the right answer. I'm going out of my mind here!!!

Did you do a restart, then if still not responiding then you need to do a restore through itunes.

Youtube sound not working, but everything else is ok

I have an extermely annoying problem with my iMac in that it will not play sound on any Youtube clips.   I have tried all other websites and they are fine. I have googled this and this is what I have done, but still doesn't work.   I have this problem on Safari and Chrome.
removed/reinstalled Flash (did this for internal Chrome, no luck)
checked in Midi the Khz is 44100. even changed it to something else and back again
reset NVRAM
logged in as another user
booted from an external disk with completely clean install
Even reset my router in case it was some wierd networking issue (unlikely, but desperate)
Youtube via browser on my ipad works fine.
I am absolutely baffled and don't know what to do.
Any suggestions?

HT1386 i updated my ipod touch to 6.1.2 and now my music won't synch, but everything else does. how can i synch my music?

i updated my ipod touch to my laptop, which already is synched to my iphone.
i transferred all the apps and data and it updated successfully to 6.1.2.
but now i can't synch my music library or any playlist that i've checked off.
are music libraries not allowed to be shared off the same itunes?
all the apps were shared.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

1 Gen Shuffle front orange light not working but all else does - ideas??

The front L.E.D. (light) will not glow orange when charging and will not flash (blink) when downloading songs. The rear light (below the on/off switch) does work correctly. The green L.E.D. works properly and the iPod functions correctly in all other respects.
I have used the iPod on both a Mac iBook G4 and a Windows laptop quite successfully since I purchased it 195 days (6 1/2) months ago.
Am using iTunes 7.0.2 and iPod software version 1.1.4
This is a 512mb iPod Shuffle.
Any ideas and help much appreciated!

You could probably get it replaced under warranty, and that would be a good solution. It will work fine without it (and no sort of a software fix is going to make it work, in all likelihood), but the amber light does provide some fairly important indications and warnings that you'd do better to have available.
