  • For a new contact in ios 7.1 where is the text keyboard to enter the name

I just downloaded iOS 7.1 on my iPhone 4s. When I try to enter a new contact in iOS 7.1 I tap on + then on name but no text keyboard springs up to write the name. Where do I find the keyboard ????? Thanks in advance fro some help. I'm new at this.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

  • Can't synchronize Contacts across iOS devices: iPad, iPhone

Like many other people, I have issues synchronizing Contacts across iOS devices. I tried all tips given in these forums, to no avail. I have a new iPad that just won't pick up any of the contacts from my old iPhone. Also, the iPad Contacts now doesn't have an Add button anymore (another problem reported by others as well).
Shouldn't it be trivial to merge and synchronize a simple list of contacts via a cloud service ?
Why does it seem to cause so much trouble to so many users ?
    Frustrating.

Yes I had tried all of that, thanks.
What I hadn't tried, was to delete the iCloud account on the new device, and then set it up again.
That solved the problem in my case: the Contacts from the old device (iPhone) are now finally synchronized on the new device (iPad).
Hope this discussion will help other folks who face the same problem !
Try fiddling with the on/off buttons as suggested, and if that fails, try deleting/re-creating the iCloud account on the new device.

  • Delete contact in iOS 8

Does anyone know how to delete contacts in iOS 8? There used to be a button in edit mode but its gone! I've just got a new work iPhone and its got someone else's contacts in it and I need a clear out...

When you edit a specific contact, there should be a "Delete Contact" button at the very bottom of that person's information.
If there is not, there are two possible reasons:
The contact was imported from some external source (e.g., Facebook)
Your work has set up a profile that prohibits you from deleting a contact.

  • How to sync calendars and contacts between ios 3.1.3 and Mountain Lion?

I have a 1st generation iPod touch under iOS 3.1.3 and a MacBook Pro under Mountain Lion 10.8.3 with iTunes 11.0.1.
Since the upgrade to Mountain Lion syncing calendars and contacts between the iPod Touch and the Mac no longer works.
I don't want my personal information in Apple's or anybody else's Cloud and anyway iOS 3.1.3 can't use Apple's Cloud.
So I can no longer sync without a) replacing my iPod Touch which itself works perfectly well and does not need replacing and b) using Apple's Cloud which I do not wish to use for personal data.
This is a MAJOR AND DAMAGING step backwards by Apple, which they should correct IMMEDIATELY if they wish to keep their increasingly fed-up older customers.
    Time-wasting work-around:
As I never trust operating system upgrades to not destroy something that "just works", I have Snow Leopard still on another bootable partition on my machine, and Lion on a bootable partition on an external Thunderbolt disc.
In order to sync, I backup Calendars and Contacts under Mountain Lion under which I do all my normal work, switch to either Snow Leopard or Lion, update iCal and Address Book from the backup files saved under Mountain Lion, sync the iPod Touch, and switch back to Mountain Lion.
Lots of time wasted with 2 successive re-boots, but at least HERE IS A SOLUTION THAT WORKS - I have seen lots of posts protesting bitterly about this totally unacceptable backwards step - what on earth do Apple hope to gain from this? More sales of newer equipment to replace perfectly functioning older ones? Certainly not from many of us.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How can I unlink contacts in iOS 7 iPad2?

I have two contacts linked on my iPad2, with iOS 7, and I want to unlink them. How can I do this?

I don't know what to tell you. I've been adding and deleting contacts all morning and every time I get add a contact I get the minus sign. You can try going to the contact and deleting you from them. Or if important enough you can try deleting the entire contact then re-adding their info. I'm sure there's a solution, I'm just not seeing it.

  • What happened to the labels in Contacts with iOS 6?

When I choose to add a new contact in my Contacts list, the contact label options are the following: mobile, home, work, home fax, work fax, pager, assistant, car, company main, radio.
My custom labels are gone, and the option to "Add Custom Label" is not there, either.
However, when I choose to edit a current contact and try to choose a contact label, the options are as follows: mobile, iPhone, home, work, main, home fax, work fax, other fax, pager, other.
I also have my custom labels and the option to "Add Custom Label."
Has anyone else noticed this? If not, try it. You'll see what I mean.
Battery drainage with iCloud auto-syncing/backing up in the background, iPhone vibrating when choosing an alarm sound, and this...
How many more bugs does iOS 6 have?

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19772932?ac_cid=tw123456#19772932
    Look for my posts.
Back up everything to iCloud. You will have to restore your device, but do NOT "Restore from Backup." You will have to "Setup as New [iDevice]" and then use iCloud to retrieve all your data.
It's a little inconvenient, but this actually fixed the Contacts labels and battery drainage problems.
There's some glitch with a direct update to iOS 6 through either Wi-Fi or iTunes. Those are the two problems that this method fixed, at least for me.
I don't know what other bugs are present in iOS 6, but those were the two that bothered me the most.

  • Issues while creating a new contact in iOS 8.1

I'm currently using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5s. I am currently using SwiftKey as my default keyboard. When I create a new contact and tap the First Name field, the cursor to the Last Name field itself. I have to tap the First Name field again in order to move the cursor there.
While typing something in the First Name, Last Name or Company field, if I press the delete/backspace key, it erases the last character in the current field and then moves to the next one - e.g if I had "ABCDEF" written in the First Name and I pressed backspace, it would delete the last character and the First Name field would now read "ABCDE" but the cursor would move instantly to the Last Name field. So I'll have to tap the First Name field again to start editing it. This always happens no matter how many times I repeat the process to go back to the previous field.
Is there any way to fix this? Anyone else facing the same problem?
(This does not happen with the default Apple keyboard)

Yes all versions of ios8 do not play well with Swiftkey: I have same problem entering contact data with focus continuing to jump to "last name" line- extremely annoying (as is the fact that "home" is the default selection for the first phone number you enter and you still cannot customize the phone number labels!) Problem resolves when I switch to default Apple keyboard
Also have to switch back to default Apple keyboard to enter "To" info when trying to send a photo from camera roll via iMessage. Otherwise no "To" line appears
Also when trying to enter the digits of a phone number to call, there is nowhere to enter the string above the onscreen keypad unless I switch back to default Apple keyboard. However you can paste a number string into the empty space. However, then you cannot select the string to backspace or add another character. Only option that works is to backspace-- which you have to do slowly, deliberately, 1 character at a time.
Does Apple even monitor this forum? I'm ready to abandon my $1000's of dollars in ios apps and go to Android.

  • How to sync Contacts after iOS 5.0.1 update

Issue: After iPhone 4S upgrade to iOS 5.0.1, iTunes 10.5 no longer synchronizes Mac Address Book with iPhone 4S Contacts using USB cable. iPhone Contacts disappear; Address Book remains intact.
iCloud: not used (it's unsupported on Mac OS X 10.6.8).
    Carrier (cellular provider): Verizon
    Solution:
Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing
    Article: TS2481
Skip the MobileMe section and start reading at the section:
For issues syncing contacts and contact groups in Address Book
I followed all steps except "Reset the SyncServices folder" and iPhone Contacts reappeared. The steps are well documented so I won't repeat them here.
    Please post your experiences here.
    Good luck, all.
..Mike Smith . Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

To clarify, iPhone Contacts disappeared after the iOS 5.0.1 update, even though I DON'T use MobileMe or iCloud; I sync with iTunes. Follow the instructions in TS2481 but skip the MobileMe section. Instead, scroll down to "For issues syncing contacts and contact groups in Address Book" and expand the text.
    Hope this clears things up.

  • HT204150 iCloud Contacts with iOS devices

I've tried each step under "Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts update or setup issues with iOS devices" several times to no avail.  I can't get icloud to update Contacts on my iPhone 4.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • BMW iDrive does not see my contacts after ios 8.2 update

    Hello,
After updating my iPhone 5S to iOS 8.2, my car (2012 BMW F30) can not read my contacts list from my phone.
Had no problems at all using iOS 8.1.3.
Already tried all the troubleshooting, removed the connection from both my car and phone and then paired the devices again, restored my iPhone, updated the iDrive software in the car...
The phone connects to the car, but when i try to call someone, there are no contacts stored in the car and i have to use the phone to dial the number.
The only right thing about it is that when i receive a call, the car does show the correct caller ID.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem?

    Same problem for me.

  • Can I turn off recent emails/contacts in iOS 6?

I believe recent contacts/emails is a new feature of iOS 6. It is the feature that helps you auto-complete email addresses etc. I understand that in an enterprise environment this can be switched off.
Can I switch off or block the recent contacts outside of an enterprise environment?
I do not want my wife who shares my icloud account, but not any email or contacts, to have my work colleagues email addresses popping up everytime she attempts to address an email. This seems like it is a privacy setting that has been missed out?

I've turned on BOLD TEXT and turned on REDUCE MOTION but for me it feels like more than just the zooms in and out... I'm getting sick just reading emails and texts or just glancing at the lock screen. It's intant nausea. The only thing I can think of is that it's something to do with refresh rate or frequency of the screen.
I thought I'd just get used to it but it has not subsided. I only hope I don't have to resort to backgrading to iOS 6 or worse, moving to a different brand of phone.

  • IPhone contact groups iOS 7 not functional?

I have multiple groups for contacts setup on my iMac (OS 10.5.8) which are sync'd to iCloud but on my iPhone 5 when I click on Groups all the group names are there with a check mark beside them. Clicking on the group name just removes the checkmark.
How do I make contact groups function on my iPhone 5  iOS7.0.4?
    TIA

  • Problem creating and editing contacts in iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4

Just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1 and cannot create new contacts starting from my existing contacts list nor can I edit any existing contact. The "edit" icon is not there. Any reason why? Was OK before the "upgrade".

    Exact same problem.
I have tried restoring phone, restarting phone.  Many times....
When I try to sync, a box comes upsaying "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because thre contacts are in use by the iPhone".  I have NOT got contacts open.  I have closed contacts AGAIN to be sure by double hitting the big button at the bottom, then closing the app by holding it down then cancelling it.
    None of these work.
    Any new ideas??

  • Problems Syncing Contacts Across iOS 8

Hey guys (I'll keep this as brief as possible),
In case you need to know my device models/OS to help me, here they are:
    iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2)
    iPad 3rd Gen (iOS 8.0.2)
Macbook Pro w/ Ret (OS X Mav 10.9.5)
I've been trying to sync "Contacts" across all 3 devices via iCloud to no avail.  I've edited my iPhone contacts list extensively, so I'm trying to sync that over to my iPad and my Macbook Pro, but it's not working.  On both the iPhone and iPad, I've turned the "Contacts" toggle off and then on under the iCloud tab in settings, and that didn't do anything.  I don't think it's a problem with iCloud, because it's updating my "Reminders" across all 3 devices just fine, but isn't taking any of my contact adjustments that I'm making on my iPhone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your time, everyone!
    Kind Regards,
    Niloy

You probably already have done this: Within the Contacts app on the iPad and iPhone, click on Groups (top left corner) and make sure you have iCloud ticked.
I don't know if this is important, but under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, scroll down to the Contacts section and see if your Default Account is iCloud.
I did do that early on.  I eventually got it solved, though.  But I really appreciate you trying to help, my friend.  Thank you!

  • Facebook contact photos iOS 8

I added a new contact for the first time last night since upgrading to iOS 8, and then went into Settings > Facebook and did update contacts. When I went back to the contact, I saw that it had added a link to their Facebook profile, but didn't update their contact photo.
Has anyone else seen this in iOS 8 or have any ideas to get this working?

Same exact issue. 33 contacts loaded out of 350. Apple chat rep blamed facbeook and said wait for an update, however the contact integration is built into iOS and not dependent upon having the facebook app installed. A solution would be greatly appreciated.
