Contacts on iPhone do not sync to iCloud

I use Outlook on Windows7 and iPhone 4 to sync thru iCloud. Calendar, Photostream and Contacts sync successfully, but Contacts sync only for the first time. Added contacts or edited contacts do not sync between iPhone and iCloud, but they sync between Outlook and iCloud. I just realized now that the "working" circulating icon appears all the time when I open Contacts and it never disappear, so it is trying to do something but never synced to iCloud. What would be the problem?

Here's how I fixed it:
When you're in contacts on ipad or iphone, touch "groups" on upper left. I was making all changes on my ipad/iphone when I had the group "all contacts" chosen. Choose "all icloud" group and leave it there and when you add or make changes, it will sync to icloud. All my contacts were on my google account, but not in icloud so I used the following instructions to sync my google contacts to icloud. It worked perfectly. Now I leave my ipad/iphone group set to "all icloud" and it's all syncing to icloud between the ipad2/iphone 4s and imac.
Thought I'd share how I did this since I'm new to iPhones, iCloud.
I found other tutorials that involved iTunes and such but I didn't want the hassle.
Requirements are Gmail Account and a valid iCloud account (Apple ID)
1. Go to your Google Contacts
2. Click the More menu > Export
3. Choose the group or all of your contacts you wish to export, whichever you prefer.
4. Choose vCard format and click the Export button.
5. You will now have a contacts.vcf which has been downloaded to your computer. Put it on your desktop if you prefer.
6. Rename contacts.vcf to yournamehere.vcf (example: stephan.vcf)
7. Log in to iCloud. www.icloud.com
8. Click Contacts
Important Note: Make sure there are no contacts listed here before importing or this may not work. The page needs to be blank.
9. Drag the .vcf file into the window under All Contacts.
The page will highlight with a blue rectangle when you drag the .vcf onto it. Wait a little bit. (It took about 8 seconds for mine to import. I only have 136 contacts though.)
On your iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud and make sure Contacts is listed as ON.

I also have this problem, just from the iPhone 5s which makes my life crazy, too.
The problem of having multiple devices doesn't seem to help, but the odd part is when everything I am doing is correct, it still doesn't sync like it used to do before iCloud, and when we had to USB wire connect the iPhone to the Laptop to make contacts sync.
Might I add that I am not using MAIL on my LAPTOP?
but ?Britty sounds like her issue is easier as gmail sometimes can create duplicates so you are in good if you are not having that problem or nightmare...
IF ANYONE ELSE can PLEASE ADD to this THREAD? I would be thankful
as there seems to be a TRENDING on iPhone 5s not syncing with other devices or backwards.....(I have added contacts to the iPhone 5s and they never get added to the iCloud or the iPad or the Addressbook or CONTACTS on the LAPTOP....
This should be working and I have checked the CONTACTS on the laptop GROUPS , iCloud, vs ALL ON MY MAC
it just isn't syncing and in some cases I am getting a WEB DAV error or CAL error...-1
what is that? iCloud will not sync all contacts?
    something is crazy
but I want to remain at 10.8 MOUNTAIN LION and not upgrade to MAVERICKS......or use MAIL on my LAPTOP...just CONTACTS ONLY......

  • My iphone is not syncing with iCloud

Hi, i have just noticed (it may have been going on for a few weeks) that my iPhone 4 (IOS6) will not sync with icloud.  This has not been a problem in the past.  If I put a new event on the phone, it is not shown on icloud and vice-versa.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Try Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [scroll down to the Contacts area] > Default Account.
    Is this set to "iCloud"?
Do you have such a setting (Default Account)?  Frankly, I don't ... all my contacts have been in iCloud (only) for years.  But I'm thinking you do have this setting based on this article:

  • IPhone Calendar not syncing to iCloud

I am running 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5c and when I add an event or appointment on my calendar, it does not sync with iCloud. When I add an appointment from icloud.com or from Outlook on my computer, it works and will sync to my phone. Just not when I add an appointment from iPhone.
    Help please?
    Thanks.

    Howdy jandally,
It sounds like you are adding events to your iPhone 5c calendar, but they do not sync up to iCloud, but adding them to iCloud.com does sync to the phone. I would use the iOS troubleshooting section of the following article to help you get that going again, named:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar

  • Some contacts on my iPhone are not syncing to iCloud

Most of my contacts sync from my iPhone 4 to iCloud but there are some that do not.  I check iCloud.com and cannot find them but yet on my phone the contacts appear on the iCloud section of my "Contacts".
Have searched the forum and cannot find anything that might help me.
Some contacts I find that do not sync have custom labels - but other contacts do have custom labels and sync without any issues.
Stuck as some of the people that don't sync are people I contact often!
    Thanks for any help given.

YAY!  So I figured out a simple way to do this.  I'll try to keep the steps simple.
    1.  I went to icloud.com and into my calendar.
    2.  I created a new calendar for each of my calendars. (for instance, I have family, friends, business, etc.)
    3.  I then went to the iMac ICal and exported each of my calendars (those which i just created a new calendar for on icloud) under "on my mac".
    4.  I then imported them into those new folders on the Mac into the "Icloud" calendars I created moments ago.  Be sure when you import you SELECT that calendar.
    5.  Once that is all done you can delete the calendars "on your mac" so there aren't duplicates.
    6.  NOW all your events should sync.  Apparently Icloud doesn't sync calendars "on the mac"  only in the "icloud", which is obviously different from what mobile me did.

  • Calendar on iPhone does not sync to iCloud

I have never synced anything to iCloud before. I would like to sync my iPhone 4s Calendar to the iCloud (iOS 7.0.4). I have followed all the instructions to sync to iCloud using the settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendars and iCloud, but it doesn't seem to be sending my iPhone Calendar data to the iCloud. Since I don't have any other means to back up my Calendar, I can' afford to lose my iPhone calendar data, since iTunes no longer syncs my iPhone calendar data to my iMac.  The calendar data on my iMac is not current . Any suggestions would be welcome.

Welcome to the Apple Community limill.
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Contacts on Macbook are not synced with iCloud

    MacBook Yosemite, Iphone 5S 8.1
I have 2708 contacts on my Macbook. They are shown under iCloud/all contacts
My macbook is connected to my ICloud account and the preferences/icloud/contact sync is ticked
In the same iCloud account (if I go online via Safari into my account) I see only 36 of these contacts, which I also find on my Iphone, which is connected to the same ICloud Account and the contact Sync is ticked...that means Iphone and Macbook are correctly connected to the same ICloud Account but not syncing properly.
Strange ist that if I open contacts/preferences/accounts on my macbook, I see 1 active ICloud account and 3 inactive ICloud accounts all with the same apple ID. I'm not able to delete the 3 inactive accounts with "-". I end up always in the normal looking ICloud preferences.
I tried unticking contacts....also signing off from the iCloud Account...signing in again. No help!
How can I get my 2708 contacts from my Macbook to my internet ICloud account and then synced automatically to my iphone?
    Thanks

Thanks. No, I have 10.7 nowadays, have had it for a while. I discovered in Contact preferences that Icould was not activated. Now it is and the contacts are syncing again, although they appear twice, if I have both "on my Mac" and ""ICloud" activated. Any way to avoid this?

  • IPhone is not syncing to iCloud.

I have an iPhone 5 and a Mac Book Pro. The problem is that my contacts, calendar, notes, and mail does not sync from my phone to iCloud but 'Reminders' does sync. Also when I open iCloud on my Mac it states that I do not have Pages but I do have it. On my phone iCloud is turned on for all catagories, I tried turning them on and off but it hasn't worked.

Make sure that all the iCloud services are enabled on your Mac as well. Open System Preferences > iCloud.
Also make sure that your Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc. are set to sync over your iCloud account (they should be under the account "iCloud" rather than "On My Mac").

  • New/Updated contacts on iPhone 4 not syncing to iMac Address Book

    Greetings,
    My problem:
When syncing my iPhone 4 with iTunes 10, iTunes will sync contacts FROM my iMac to the iPhone. It will not sync new or changed contacts from the iPhone TO my iMac (no two-way syncing).
    Further background:
I recently had Apple replace my hard drive and restored from a Time Machine backup. Everything is working properly except this.
    What I'm using:
    * iPhone 4 w/ iOS 4.1 (latest)
    * iMac 2.4 GHz Intel running OS X 10.5.8
    * iTunes 10.1 (54)
    Example:
If I create a new contact on my iMac, it syncs with the iPhone as expected.
On the iPhone, If I edit the contact originally created on the iMac and re-sync, the changes do NOT sync back to my iMac.
If I create a new contact on my iPhone, it does not sync with Address Book.
What I've tried so far that has not worked:
1.) Unchecked and re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts" in iTunes (one-way syncing works fine)
2.) Used the "Replace information on this iPhone" for Contacts within iTunes (contacts from iMac overwrite iPhone as expected)
3.) I had a trial MobileMe subscription that I cancelled months ago.
Went into the iPhone > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > deleted the MobileMe account, keeping existing data on my iPhone.
4.) Unchecked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Went to /users/[username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, deleted AddressBook-v22.abcddb and /Images
    * Went to iSync app > Preferences > Reset Sync History
    * Verified new addressbook and /Images folder were created
    * Re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Performed another sync using iTunes
    (One-way sync works fine)
5.) Deleted all Address Book entries
    * Unchecked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Went to /users/[username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, deleted AddressBook-v22.abcddb and /Images
    * Went to iSync app > Preferences > Reset Sync History
    * Verified new addressbook and /Images folder were created
    * Re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Performed another sync using iTunes
Can anyone offer some suggestions? I have my address book backed up, but I'd really like to be able to perform a two-way sync from my iPhone to my iMac's Address Book.
    Thanks,
    Rob

No need for apologies!  Yes, it was checked.  Looks like I have solved the problem now and it was something very basic - in the preferences of Contacts on the iMac.  Looks like it's all synced now.  Thanks for replying!

  • Calendar entries made on Iphone do not sync to Icloud

Why do my appointment entries made in Icloud calendar sync to phone but, appointment entries made on phone do not sync to I coud calendar.

    Hello, benji0023.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you may have another over the air account similar to iCloud enabled on your device.  Most mail hosts, like Gmail and Yahoo, offer a similar feature to iCloud.  You can check to see if one is enabled by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and go through each mail account on the device for the calendar setting set to on.  If you turn off these features you may remove some calendar entries as it sounds like they may be set to default.  You can also change the default calendar under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars to iCloud.

  • How to insure that contacts and calendar are NOT synced with ICloud?

    Hello,
I do not understand, why it is not possible anymore to sync your contacts and calendar data between your mac book and your mobile devices using USB cable.
I also heard that with Maverick and Itunes 11.1.2 you can not sync anything using USB anymore, is that true?
Why is it not possible to let the customer decide how to sync their data? Why not leaving both options?
In case it is true that with Maverick and Itunes 11.1.2 you are not able to sync using USB anymore, does anybody know a good app to sync your photos and address data between your computer and mobile devices?
How can I insure that my contacts and calendar data are NOT automatically synced with ICloud?
Yesterday I synced some Photos from my macbook to my IPad and wondered why I had the photos twice. I realized that my IPad had ICloud enabled, after disabling ICloud one picture folder (Photostream) was gone. What do do to avoid that my MacBook is sending Photos to ICloud?
However, when I opened ICloud today, I did not find photos, but I found some address data from my MacBook in the Cloud.
I do not want to have my contacts and calendar data anywhere else on a server.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks Hark

Connect your phone to your computer using the USB power cable that you charge your phone with.
Launch iTunes, it will go thru the normal sync back up progress bar thing at the top, let it finish.
    Then
double  click on the phone in the left side bar then click INFO at the top of that pane, it will allow you select what you want to sync (contacts, calendar, etc) make your selections and click apply, then click sync. There buttons along the top for different functions (Movies, Apps, etc) just make sure that you do not have anything checked (like your whole music library) that will not fit on the phone.

  • Contacts on PC do not sync with icloud/ipad/iphone

I have a PC (Windows 7) and Outlook 2010. My contacts do not update on my ipad/iphone/icloud.com when I make an entry or changes in Outlook, and they don't update in Outlook when I make changes or entries on my devices/icloud.  However the devices/icloud are syncing with one another.  I need the contacts on my PC to be part of the sync but it won't work.  And photos only randomly sync up to my PC.  What's the secret here?????  Thank you!!

    This step is not clear:
"Open a secure website to see if you can access ports 80 and 443. Outlook requires access to port 443 to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Contacts servers."
The link takes me to an Apple page but which has nothing to do with ports.  And there is nothing to explain what it is I am looking for, how to look for it, and how to change it if needed.
    Also, this step:
"Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices."
iCloud automatically set up a "[email protected]...." account for me so I see that one plus my original email used to open my Apple account.  And the apple products show my settings under both identities.
Make sure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook
This add-in is disabled because it doesn't allow Outlook to function properly.
    Thanks!

  • HT4859 My contacts from iphone do not show in icloud on my PC

I have installed icloud on my PC and iphone5 in order to transfer and edit my contacts on the PC. When I connect my iphone to my PC it opens itunes and syncs but when I open icloud online on my PC and view contacts they are not there.

Looks like you are syncing contacts with Yahoo and FB.  If you want to get your Yahoo contacts in iCloud do the following (not sure if this will also add your FB contacts):
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (if you have any iCloud contacts, they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  Use this to backup the remaining contacts on your phone  as a vCard attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself.
After receiving the email on your phone, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your Yahoo account and turn Off contacts syncing with Yahoo.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts back to your phone.  They will be added to iCloud group, and should now see them on icloud.com.  You can then check Outlook to see if the contacts appear there as well.
