Contacts on Phone Don't Match Contacts on Gmail

My DroidX is set up to sync calendar and contacts every night, but my phone contacts are not going into my gmail account, thus, the contact lists don't match.  I "unchecked" and "rechecked" sync to see if it would reset itself, but it did  not.  When I transferred (or should I say, the Verizon rep transferred) my contacts from my BlackBerry to my Droid, about 25% of the contacts didn't make it.  It took me over two hours to  compare the contact lists to make sure I had everyone on my new phone.  Any ideas?

Thanks. No, I have 10.7 nowadays, have had it for a while. I discovered in Contact preferences that Icould was not activated. Now it is and the contacts are syncing again, although they appear twice, if I have both "on my Mac" and ""ICloud" activated. Any way to avoid this?

  • My iTunes on my laptop and my iTunes on my phone don't match

My iTunes on my laptop and my iTunes on my phone don't match. My old phone (iPhone 4) has got all of my music (whether it's bought via iTunes or added from CD) whereby my iTunes on my laptop only has music I purchased via iTunes (my laptop crashed and had to be rebuilt so once I logged back into iTunes everything was gone). I've tried re-syncing but no joy. I've now got a new iphone (5s) but I can't get my iTunes on my new phone to match the iTunes on my old phone. Any ideas?

  • HT1386 Music library and music on phone don't match...

On a new laptop I set up my iTunes account.  My music library shows 801 songs while my iPhone shows 897 songs.  How do I get the other 96 songs to show up in my music library?  I already tried the 'transfer songs from iPhone' option.  Please help!

That warning is an indication that the phone has either never been synced with the computer/iTunes library you are attempting to sync with, or has synced with another computer/iTunes library.  Your phone is designed to only sync with a single computer/iTunes library.  When you attempt to sync with another one iTunes will first delete all iTunes media from your phone and then replace it with the media in the library you are attempting to sync with.  This can't be changed.  When you sync all music will be deleted from your phone and only the music in the library you are syncing with will be transferred back to your phone.  In your case, you would lose the 96 songs.
Your only option is to use 3rd party software to transfer the 96 songs to your library before you sync so they will be synced back to your phone along with your other music.  If you think the songs may have been purchased from the iTunes store you can transfer your purchases before syncing by:
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes and go to preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Connect your phone, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
When done, click Apply to sync your phone.
Go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing.

  • Contacts transfer to new phone created multiples and corrupted my Gmail account Contacts

I recently upgraded from my old Razr XT912 to the New Maxx.  I love my new phone, but when I did the upgrade, the store associate took my old phone and attempted to transfer all my data to my new phone.  Besides none of my pictures or other data transferring, when I got my phone back, I had 2 or more often 3 of every contact in my address book.  To make matters worse, this caused my entire G-Mail contacts list to then carry all of these triplicated entries.  So now you have not only screwed up my Verizon phone contacts list, but you have corrupted my entire GMail Contacts as well. I am NOT happy.  How can Verizon make this right?  How can I easily eliminate the multiple duplicate/triplicate entries in my contacts list?

    Hi, thank you for responding.
I did get all my data off my old phone as it was transfered onto a 16GB
microSD card that was in the phone, but none of it transfered directly to
my new Droid Maxx.  Instead I had to take the card home, load it on my PC
and then transfer back to my phone the data that I wanted.  Not a huge
deal, but kind of a pain to go through, especially since I thought the guy
in the store just transfered everything over.  In the end, I did go back to
the store the next day to retrieve a few items that were still on the phone
    memory.
I used backup assistant some time ago and then I think I turned it off in
favor of using Gmail to back aeverything up.  I don't know if I had
duplicates of stuff in both places, but in the end, everything copied over
to my gmail contacts and I had 3 of everything.  very frustrating.  I found
a way to merge duplicate contacts in Gmail contacts and that got me down
from 1500+ to 1000+, but I started out with only about 500.  I'm still
trying to figure out what the extra 500 are that are not duplicates and
    where they came from.
My Gmail contacts is fixed, for the most part, so I am ok.  But, this is a
huge Pain and it happens to EVERYONE in some way or another.  I can't
believe the mobile service providers have not figured out a way to do this
without causing a problem.  Seriously disappointing. the last time I
changed phones, all of my business contacts got condensed down into one
single generic contact with over one hundred business numbers and addresses
listed within that contact.  there was no way split them back out.  So when
ever I recieved a call from any one of those 100+ complanies, the same
contact name came up and I couldn't tell who it was.  I finally ended up
deleting it and starting over from scratch.
Seriously, Verizon needs to spend some time and money and figure out how to
    do this.
    Frustrated.

    Hi there,
It sounds like you may need to hide these purchases in the iTunes Store in order to prevent them from displaying on the Apple TV. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Payments and Bills don't match

    Hi,
the activation fee for my verizon double play bundle was supposed to be split in three parts. I have made the three respective payments as shown in the payment history.
However, under Bill & Payment, I can only find two bills and the third is still due including the third activation fee payment.
Could you please elaborate why these bills don't match my payment history?

  • Trying to upgrade to Fibre. Postcodes don't match?...

Hi all. Been a loyal BT customer for 14 years now. Started off with dial up, then Broadband. Now our village has gone fibre so i thought i'll order it up and get superfast. Anyway, doing the order through BT's website, i enter all my details, including the telephone number / postcode form fields then when i select to proceed, the order for comes up with "postcode does not match telephone number" and i can't continue.
Anyways, after about half an hour on the phone to them last weekend, i spoke to 2 different departments and explained that my phone bill has the correct postcode (it used to have the postcode for the street down from me) after me telling them around 5 years ago that the postcode was wrong but they saying that the broadband database is clearly not matching the phone line database.
So the call centre agent finally comes back and says she can't put the order for fibre through at her end and give it 5 working days them try order again.
Low and behold, i try yesterday to order again, same thing, postcodes don't match telephone line? then they have the cheek to email me stating that i haven't completed my order.
Another thing is that i registered my interest as to when fibre was available and they confirmed it was, by email, around 2 months ago o i'm assuming it's the postcode that's stopping me ordering.
I'm pretty sure there is data protection issues also as databases aren't supposed to have redundant data in them? under data protection act.
After my last fiasco with me paying double for years i'm just about ready to dump BT if i don't get some sort of solution soon.
    Anyone else have any ideas?
    regards, Barry

Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.
And/or try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Geofence locations in "Reminders" don't match address book

If I go into "Reminders" and try set a location-based reminder for Home or Work, the addresses listed aren't the same as the ones in my address book. They're within a mile of me, but never close enough that I reliably enter that location when I'm at home or at work. The post code shown in Reminders is just the first four characters of the post code listed in my address book, and the addresses it gives me do lie within that postcode region.

Sorry all,  re my question above,  since reading a response, from Winston Churchill, to another question I realise that I have two address lists on my iPhone (iCloud and On My Mac). They match each other and (MacBook)Address Book  but don't match the Mail Contacts.  Thanks, M

  • Syncing iPhone 3G creates unwanted new contacts in Gmail contact list.

For reasons that are unknown to me, I have many multiple duplications of contacts in my contact list. So, using the contact manager in Gmail I spent many hours cleaning up my contact list so that all of my contacts were correct and not duplicated. However, as soon as I synced the iPhone 3G I immediately had twice as many contacts as before I started, once again ending up with hundreds of unnecessary contact duplications.
I have now spent many days reading internet blogs and forum posts, and came up with the following (which I incorrectly thought was the solution):
1] In iTunes, I clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here, I enabled the option to 'prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically'. I also enabled the option to 'warn when any of the data on this computer will be changed'.
2] With the iPhone connected, in iTunes I clicked on 'devices' --> 'iPhone' --> 'Info'. Here, I un-checked the option to 'sync contacts', followed by clicking the button 'remove contacts'.
Now I confirmed that there are no contacts on the iPhone. Zero. None.
3] In Gmail, I once again spent many hours going trough all of my contacts, cleaning up the unnecessary duplicates. This time, however, I chose to export my contact list to a .CSV file on my computer, so that if this happens again I would just delete them all and restore my contact list fro this backup file.
Now I have 0 contacts on the iPhone, and approximately 250 contacts on my Gmail account.
4] In iTunes 10.2.1.1 running on Windows 7, I once again clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here I now clicked the button to 'reset sync history'.
5] I connect the iPhone to the computer, re-enable the option to 'sync contacts with Gmail' and click the 'Apply' button. The iPhone sync process begins and I am presented with the following message:
Syncing with Google contacts will change more than 0% of your contacts on this computer.
    Information: Contacts. Add:41. Delete:0. Modify:2
Now I already confirmed that there were no contacts on the iPhone, so where are these 41 additions and 2 modifications coming from !?
I let it happen, knowing that I can repeat this process, using the '.CSV' backup file containing my correct contacts. When the Sync finishes, I log in to my Gmail account and check my contacts. I find that I now have approximately 360 contacts (which is a lot more than the original 250 plus 41), many of which are duplicated multiple times (one contact is even duplicated 6 times). I also notice contacts which I had previously deleted from my Gmail contacts list have now returned.
As there were 0 contacts on the phone, where are these duplicates and previously deleted contacts coming from when I sync the iPhone !? Somebody from Apple please help me.
    - James.

O.K. I may have fixed it (time will tell).
As I had previously chosen to sync with Microsoft Outlook 2010, but the trial period expired and the price to but it was far too high, so I changed to Syncing with Gmail. Therefore I wondered if Outlook may be affecting the iTunes sync even though it was not current chosen in iTunes contact sync option. So, I un-installed Microsoft Office 2010 and re-booted the PC. Now, pressing the 'Rest Sync History' button in iTunes no longer created new contacts in Gmail.
However, this did not completely solve the problem. With 0 contacts on the phone, and 0 contacts in Gmail, syncing the phone still re-created 41 of the previous contacts. Thew only way I could get rid of these 41 contacts was to deleted them one at a time from the iPhone itself. Doing it from Gmail, or un-checking the iTunes 'sync contacts' option to delete all contacts from the phone at once, did not work; the contacts still kept coming back.
Funny thing though, iTunes did indicate that it would add 41 contacts when I synced the phone to the computer, but after deleting them from the phone it now warned that it would delete 41 contacts from the computer. But, these contacts were not in my Gmail, so I still don't know where they were coming from.
Either way, after many hours spent over many days, I seem to now be able to sync my phone contacts with my Gmail without it creating any more unnecessary duplicates.
I hope someone out there can tell me why this happened, and I hope my experiences with this help someone else in a similar situation.
    - James.

  • Syncing Contacts in Gmail

I called into VZW tech support to find out about syncing my contacts in gmail to my Droid X. He kind of shrugged me off and said you don't do anything it just happens automatically.
I want to know if the contact list in gmail and the DX can communicate. The calendar syncs fine but if i put a new contact on teh phone while I am out I want it to be also in the contacts in my gmail and vice versa if I type a new customer in my laptop I want it to sync to the DX.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wroing. I can use the backup assistant but that is only for the phone, I want the gmail contacts and phone to communicate.
    Thank you in advance
    S

The gmail syncs automatically unless you have turned off syncing.  If you add a new contact to your phone it will show almost simultaneously in your Google contacts, you can verify this by simply opening up your contact and looking all the way at the bottom to see if it is linked with your Google contact

My security question don't match ones that I used so it won't allow me in but I have access to everything because I have my password.

If you can't correctly guess that address, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • How to Display All Contacts From Gmail ..?

I hate Blur.  There's something there that only shows a subset of my Gmail Contacts.  I know on my wife's Ally and my OLD Nexus One I just went in and added the extra "groups" but I don't see that on the X.
How do I get to see all my Gmail contacts?
Update: looks like it's only displaying My Contacts from Gmail, not the groups I have.

So is the only way to get all contacts to sync across (or at least, to appear; they are on the phone, just not displaying - search and you can find them) is to make them all in the My Contacts group in Gmail?  That is pretty silly.  Isn't there another way?
