Contacts - Printing a list in alpha order

How can I get contacts to print in alphabetical order as a LIST. I can only manage it if I do it as a Pocket book address book but i want to create A4 pages in continuous order [ approx 6 pages]

When you open the Print dialogue window you will see a divider below the printer, copy number, and page range settings that has a menu in it. This should be "Contacts" by default, for options from the "Contacts" program. In here the first setting should be "Style" which has the options for Mailing labels, Envelopes, Address books, and Lists.
This should put the contacts in alphabetical order.

1. Click Contacts
2. Click Preferences
3. Show First Name: Before Last Name
4. Sort By: First Name
Now, choose the list you want to print and check if it's the way you want.

The contacts app on your phone should automatically alphabitize the list, either by first or last name depending on your setting in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Sort Order. If it isn't doing this, some things you can try include:
Change the Sort Order setting then change it back
Force close the Contacts app: double-tap the home button, locate Contacts, swipe up on the image above the app icon to close it, tap the home button again
Reset your phone: hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release

problem was iTunes was reading from an inserted CD
and of course couldn't re-order the list!
I still have an issue with a couple of numbered items (yes
iTunes ignores the bracket) if you'll notice items [135] and
[150], while in order are also out of order as they aren't in
the three digit location that occur farther down the column.

For some reason, even thought they are in the proper order in the address book, when i print a list they are in a random order. They are not in order by last or first. curious...anyone know the fix?

not only do I love your suggestion but I love the ostrich on your home page..... I also teach a class and this is the quickest way of printing out a sign-in sheet. I do it with a little more effort but this is extremely quick; Also as a side note, if you want some of your other address book comments to show up you can preset the columns' name with the "exact" field name and it will plop in that information also, ie address or notes... I didn't check on the picture but I know the other fields do show up.
Apple really needs to fix this problem. I really don't like the extra step of going to icloud.com to print out things alphabetically it's so inconvenient. Tim Cook may not see it as a problem but I'm sure Steve Jobs would not tolerate "half-a**ed" software on his operating systems...I just read some terse comments he made to his staff when another program was not up to his expectations (Mobile Me) and that is why he PERSONALLY presented iCloud to the public He expected perfection and when he didn't get it, he let the hammer fall.
This has been a problem ever since Mountain Lion came out and they are totally ignoring it. I, and I'm sure many of you, have reported this "bug" to them to fix over the past year and nothing has been done. It should be an easy fix.

I know how to change the alphabetical sequence of my contacts by first name & last name , but i would like to know how I can easily PRINT a list of my contacts in alphabetical order.
I know how to print a list but the names are in random order.

I just found a way to print contacts in ABC order. I signed in to my iCloud account online, then went to Contacts. I selected the contact group I wanted to print on the left page (example Xmas card list). On the right page at the bottom, I clicked on the gear symbol and clicked "select all", then clicked again on "print". When the print window appeared, I saved the file to PDF, just to see if the information was in ABC. It was!
It's not perfect but it works... you can also do the entire list this way also... no choices as to what appears but it is a beginning...

Favorites Contacts in Alpha order

I have marked some contacts as Favorites. Under Favorites the Contacts were included as and when I added. Now I want to arrange them in alpha order. How do I do it? Thanks!

Click on the Edit button, you'll see 3-line-bars at the end of each line. You re-order the entries in the list by dragging those bars.

I don't want to have to check off an additional 5 or 6 attributes each time I print out contact information. Is there a way to change the default setting for printing lists, so it is not just "phone," "photo," and "job title?"

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

Print of Component List from Production Order

Hi Everyone,
How do we print the list of components which will be used in Production Orders? The scenario is that we have the components in WM bins. As soon as the production Orders are confirmed, we need to print a list of all the components which are required for Production. How do we print that? WM is planning to develop a system where the print out has a bar code and the RF Gun will read the quantities of the components required for production. Can you please let me know where I can see the print preview of the components involved in manufacturing?

Hi Lisa,
The production order can be printed in CO02 screen itself.(Ctrl+P). To define what to be printed, you need to identify/define the correct list in the transaction OPK8. Once the correct combination is selected for the required plant and order type, this can be printed in production order.
But for the preview after printing, you can view the spools created in SP01.

How do I change the "Attach File" list from icons in alpha order to a list in chonological order?

When I want to attach a file to an email message, it's usually the last file I worked on. Firefox used to display the items as a list in chronological order, with the most recent item at the top. Now it displays icons (which I hate!) in alpha order, which is soooooo not useful. I think this change may have occurred after the last update I loaded for Firefox. I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get back to my original format. Thanks!

OOPS! Looks like this is happening in Word as well, so it's not a Firefox issue. ... but I still can't figure out how to change it. Any suggestions?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

Printing a list from Contacts via Pages

I'm not sure if this is an Address Book question or a Pages question, but I am posting it here.
I want to print a list of my contacts from the Address Book via Pages so I can format it appropriately. I have looked at mail merge, but that seems to insist on a page break between each record. what's the best way to do what I am trying to achieve ?

Actually, I've just done a bit more Googling on the problem and I realize there is a print option I was overlooking (when I expand the print options) that will create a list of all contacts.
Hmm, looked at that a bit more and there is not much control over which fields are included, won't really do the job.
Is there really no off the shelf Apple solution to what seems to me to be a pretty basic and frequently wanted requirement ?

How do you print a list of contacts from icloud without having each contact on one sheet of paper. Perhaps print with several vcard images on one sheet?

That's ok...I figured it out. I selected all contact by selecting all contacts then to the settings image and select print.
