Contacts randomly merging

When I downloaded the Facebook app, my contacts from Facebook were automatically listed in Contacts. Of course, not all of my Facebook friends are people I talk to often irl, so I went in to manually add phone numbers to the contacts I talk to who didn't list their phone numbers on Facebook. Every time I edit a contact and add a phone number, it randomly merges that contact with another contact from Facebook. It's driving me crazy. I can't store any phone numbers on my iPad without merging contacts that have nothing to do with one another.
Another issue with Contacts is that when I try to pull up my own info card so I can add relationships, it won't bring up my card...just the entire list of my contacts. Am I being completely daft and overlooking something obvious here? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi decobezerra,
Welcome to the support community!
How were these contacts added to your BlackBerry Q10 smartphone? Were they added from the same source, such as synchronized from Outlook or added via the same email or social networking account? Do any of these contacts share any common information such as a mobile number?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Contacts app randomly merging contacts

Client's blackberry merging ramdom contacts automatically.Ex:Attila merged with Jon totally different numbers and no email. Evan Dickenson turned into Harry slade Dickenson Mark turned into LindseyTotally random and I think it’s only happening between personal contacts. Is there any way to disable auto merge on contacts app?

I am also having this problem. I have 3 accounts that sync contacts wirelessly (Office 365). Random merges occur WITHIN the same account, and also ACROSS accounts. The contacts that merge (may be as many as 40 links to one original contact) do not seem to have anything specific in common and they are absolutely NOT meant to be merged. This results in a lot of handwork to unlink these contacts. If, for instance, contact A is incorrectly linked to contacts B, C, D, E, and F, I cannot just tap 'unlink' for B, C, D, E, and F and be done with it. If I do that, and then click 'save', that results in contact A being alright, and then having contact B still linked to C, D, E and F. So, I have to unlink contact B from contact A. Then press save, wait for that to take effect (number of links goes down by one). Then go back into the linked contacts and repeat for all linked contacts. You never now, nor can you see at a glance, which of your contacts has incorrect links, and there may be as many as 40 links to one contact. It is a hellish job. To make matters worse, if I have succesfully rearranged/unlinked my 500+ contacts, they may decide to spontaneously merge in obscure ways the next day. These contacts were added by adding the 3 EAS/ Office 365 account credentials and selecting 'sync contacts'. It is my preferred method, and it works on my laptop, 3 workstations, Playbook and iPad. Just not on the Z10. I am not on BES, by the way. It is the only negative I can think of on my Z10, but it affects the use quite severely. Is there any kind of solution to this? I do not seem to have the option to turn this auto-merging off, or do I overlook that toggle somewhere? It would be far less work to manually link the contacts that I WANT to link, rather than having to manually unlink the contacts  that I do NOT want to link.  Please advise.

  • I have 5 iphones on one account and all contacts have merged together after the update

I have 5 iPhones and they are all on the family plan, so we all use the same account and now all of our contacts have merged together after the update to ios5. What do I do?

your iCloud storage isnt part of your phone, that is a back up for your phone, you have to delete things on your phone, so I recommend backing up your photos to your computer or iCloud since im sure thats whats taking up all your storage, then delete the photos on your phone and then update your phone using iTunes on your computer.

  • E7 - Exchange contacts randomly disappearing

Hi, I've got an E7 phone which is synchronized to my Exchange 2003/Outlook 2010 email account.  Since I got this phone, I've had problems on multiple occasions with contacts simply disappearing - they are suddenly gone from both my phone and my Outlook account.  I have a lot of contacts in my address book that I don't use regularly, so it's hard to know just how widespread the problem is.  But three or four times over the last few months, a very important contact has disappeared, along with all the notes and information that I'd added.  Can anyone help me with this?

I too face the same situation of disappearing contacts - randomly, sometimes within days of entering the contact name, leading to embarassing situations.  Since my configuration is also synced to Outlook, one possibility is the syncing occuring in the reverse direction (ie the entry being deleted by the blank one in the Outlook database).
Whatever be the case, this is simply inexcusable design.  Appreciate any ideas on how to fix.

  • Contacts randomly disappearing

    T-Mobile iPhone 6 Plus running iOS8.1.1.
Contacts are being erased from my phone randomly.
Received calls / iMessages will display phone number rather than contact name and the contacts have apparently vanished completely from list.
Random contacts, not the entire list. Contacts are synced with iCloud.
    Any info regarding this issue?
Suggestions and solutions are greatly appreciated.

  • Contacts randomly changed to blocked caller

I have recently had two of my contacts randomly changed to blocked callers.  I have not changed this in their contact settings.  Any thoughts?

I would only enable your enterprise server on you Mac and other devices.  I would turn off contacts in iCloud.  Icloud will show duplicate contacts.   The way I got rid of is only using enterprise.
    This should work.

  • Contacts Randomly Disappeared

My contacts randomly disappeared in my iPhone 4s. It is brand new, and I just got it a few days ago. I had retrieved all my old contacts from iCloud but then they suddenly disappeared randomly. My contacts on iCloud.com are gone as well. I tried Importing from SIM as well but that did not work. Turned off mail back-up on iCloud, I was texting and randomly, the name of the text became just a bunch of phone numbers. Anyone else have a similar issue and have a solution?
By the way, I have no back-up restore point on my computer because it is brand new as well.
    Thanks!

OK. i solved this by going to settings, icloud, and putting the "contacts" toggle back on..... how did it turn itself off??? anyway. fixed. contacts back to norm.
    hope this helps? :S
this exact thing happened to me: from txsunrunner "My phone was functioning normally, I put it down for a while, I checked it later for messages and all my text message contacts were listed only as numbers.  I tried restarting my phone, but it didn't solve the issue. "

  • IPhoto randomly merged faces.

I just got iPhoto 09 (about 3 days ago)and have am still in the process of labeling faces. When I opened iPhoto to continue this today it had randomly merged about 6 or so of my 40 faces into groups of two. Ie. Emily was merged with David and Amber with Katie. Does anyone have any ideas why this might have happened and how to stop it happening again?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
This bug was fixed in one of the early updates. You need to run Software Update to make sure that iPhoto and the iLife apps are up to date.

  • Why do my iPhone 5s contacts randomly go missing?

I have an iPhone 5s.  I originally had 119 contacts in my contacts list.  Randomly, I noticed that my list of recent text messages had almost everyone listed by their phone number rather than by their name from my contact list so I checked my contact list and realized that there were only 41 contacts shown there.  I had not recently done any updates or changed any settings before this happened.
    What's weird is:
    1) If I create a new text message and start typing the name of a "missing" contact, the contact comes up along with their phone number so that I can send them the text message.
    2) If I create a new email message and start typing the name of a "missing" contact, the contact comes up along with their email address so that I can send them the email.
Since I couldn't find a solution to this issue online and I was freaking out about losing my contact information, I did a full restore from a recent backup and all 119 of my contacts were there after the restore.  2 days later, the same thing happened again, so I did another restore.  After the 2nd restore, I turned off the automatic icloud backup just in case this was somehow the cause but it has now happened again so it can't be icloud synch related.  I refuse to do another restore from backup - it takes too long and it's not the right answer to this issue.  Someone out there has to know the cause and what I can do to prevent it from happening again.  Better yet, since it seems that the contacts are "hiding" somehow on my phone (see points 1 and 2 above), perhaps there's a way for me to get them to show back up in my contacts list?  I'm really frustrated that I've lost so many of my contacts.
Any help is greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

I had been syncing with iCloud but, as mentioned, I turned off the automatic syncing to see if that was the issue.  The last manual sync to iCloud I did was las night, after which all of my contacts were still there - they were also still there this morning.  I randomly looked at my phone about an hour ago and realized the issue had happened again so no sync was done between last night's and the issue happening again today.

  • We have 2 iphone 4s which have just been updated with IOS5 and whilst setting up icloud the phone contacts were merged and now i have lost my phone contacts on first iphone 4 which have been replaced with phone contacts from my second iphone 4. help?

We have two Iphone 4 handsets. I updated first handset with IOS5 and activated Icloud with my existing Itunes account details - no problems. I then did the same on the second handset and instead of setting up a different Icloud account for the second hanset I mistakenly used the same details as on the first handset and merged the contacts thinking it would add all contacts to both handsets but it instead replaced contacts from first handset with those from the second handset.
How do I get back my contacts from the first hanset?
I read somewhere Icloud saves the last 3 backups which suggests all my contacts that have disappeared are somewhere but how do i find them ???
    Help ???

    Here's how to do it.
    1. App Store, iTunes Store should have the same AppleID on Computer and iPhones. (Free to share apps, music and books... )
    2. Person A uses the same purchasing account for everything (ie. email, contacts and ...).
    3. Person B have the same purchase account see no. 1 (for App Store and iTunes Store) but create a second AppleID for iCal, e-mail, contacts  and etc.

  • I have iPhone 4, wife has 3GS. Each have our own PC but one itunes account and icloud. Now have realized that our contacts have merged and appear in duplicate on devices and PC's. If i delete contact it deletes on hers as well. ***! Over!

Also, if we both have iMessage on and someone sends me message she gets it as well and vice-versa

This happens when you try to use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  One of you needs to change by going to Settings>Messages>Receive At, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, sign back in using a different Apple ID.  If you don't have one, you can create one here: https://appleid.apple.com (you will need a separate email address to create one).
On your merged contacts issue, this happens when you sync contacts both phones to the same iCloud account.  To correct this, on one of the phones go to Settings>iCloud and turn off syncing for each of the services (contacts, calendars, etc.), when prompted choose to keep the data on the phone.  Then scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account (it only deletes the account from this phone).  Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn on syncing again.  You will need to go to https://www.icloud.com/ for each account and delete the unwanted contacts.  Then you should be good to go.

  • HT201394 Why are some of my contacts randomly showing as 'no caller id' in my recent calls list?

I updated to ios 8.0.2 yesterday and now when I go into my recent caller list lots of the numbers are showing up as 'No Caller ID' even thought they are in my contacts list, were showing up correctly before I updated, and when you go into the 'No Caller Id' number it shows the contact details.  It isn't even uniform as to which contacts are affected with the same number sometimes showing correctly and other times showing no caller id.  Is anyone else having this problem and can anyone tell me how I can fix this?  So far I am not loving ios 8.0.2 one bit!!

I'm also having this problem on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2 installed.
In case it helps anyone to see the problem this is what my Recents list looks like in the Phone app (I have greyed out the two names it did randomly recognize). There does not appear to be any coherent pattern to this. All of the 'No Caller ID's listed are from people in my Contacts, as you can see it recognizes that they are from a mobile, work or other number and when you hit the i for more info the person's full contact details are displayed as per their entry in my Contacts app.
Restarting the phone has not solved it, neither has leaving the app open for a while. I know this is an old photo but it is still happening randomly with some new calls.

What you have experienced, though annoying, doesn't necessarily mean someone has hacked your account, though if you were finding that you were blocked because the sending limit had been reached that might indicate that you had been hacked.
What can happen is that when people receive emails which appear to come from their own address but they haven't sent they naturally tend to be concerned: however it's most unlikely that anyone has hacked their account, they've just been targeted by one of two common spammers' techniques: both arise because it's all too easy to forge the 'from' address on messages to be something other than the real one.
There are two methods. One is that the sender has forged the 'from' address to be the same as the 'to' address (so other people will see it coming from themselves, not you), presumably in the hope of confusing spam filters. It's harmless, if extremely annoying. Delete it (never ever answer spam or try to unsubscribe from it), and you don't need to be worried about it.
The other problem is that a spammer is forging your address as the 'from' address on a whole batch of messages. The first thing you hear about this is when you start getting bounce messages because the spam has been sent to non-existent addresses and is being bounced to you. There's no point at all in responding to it. It's infuriating but normally stops after a bit as they move on to another forged address.
There isn't really anything you can do about it: closing the account isn't really worth the hassle unless you are totally swamped, because you will have to tell everyone your new address. Apple can't really do any more than they already are about spam. However changing your password on general principles is a good idea.
