Contacts sort/display order options

Real Android People app allows control over the sort order (e.g., lastname, firstname) and display order (e.g., firstname lastname).
I can't seem to find out how to set my preference on the Xperia Tablet Z. The app looks really good, but I can't seem to be able to use it the way I use People on my Galaxy Nexus (or on my Toshiba Excite before the XpeTabZ for that matter).
Is there a setting or ??? I'm missing?

Figured that was case. Have already replaced/augmented pretty but less functional Sony Calendar and Keyboard with Google versions. Sadly, Google hasn't made a Google People app available in Play Store.

  • Contacts sort/display order in groups

G'day, I am a new user to the Xperia Z1 after several other different brands of smartphone.
I have an issue with the way the contacts are displayed in the Groups component.
In the full list the contacts are displayed as Last Name, First Name as I have selected.  In the Groups view, all contacts are displayed as First Name Last Name and I cannot find any options for modifying this.
Is there a view type configuration for the Groups view or do I just get what it gives me?
    Thanks for any help.
    Gary T.

Unfortunately it's not supported to change the sort/display option for groups. It will sort by first name, last name.
I will pass your feedback on internally.

  • Other apps don't respect Contact Sort and Display order

I just noticed this on my iPhone 4 and am wondering if anyone else has seen that the Map and Mail apps do not respect the 'Sort Order' and Display Order' settings that are chosen in 'Settings'.
I'm referring to when you get access to your contacts list when inside these apps (when you are composing a new email in Mail and use the '+' icon in the 'To:' & also when in Maps when using the 'contacts icon' to load an address in the 'Search' or 'Direction' fields.
On my iPhone 4 these two apps have the Sort and Display order apparently hardwired in that they don't change the ordering when it is changed in 'Settings'. It used to be that the contact list would always update everywhere to respect the odering chosen in 'Settings'. I thought that this must be an OS issue but for some strange reason on my old iPhone 3G that also has iOS 4 on it, I don't see this seemingly incorrect behavior....so at least in my case it is hardware specific.

    1. I have a simlar problem with my new iPhone.
    2. Settings configured to be "Last, First" (both sort&display).
2a. The Contacts app does not following this setting, but...
2b. The Phone app contact list correctly follows the setting.
    3. In Settings app, configured to be "First, Last" (both sort& display).
3a. The Contacts app follows this setting
3b. The Phone app contact list follows this setting.
    4. Could be that the Contacts app does not depend on the Settings (hard-coded?).

  • Sort order vs display order

Would someone please tell me what the difference is between sort order and display order?  I'm referring to how my contacts list on iPhone 4S.
    Thank you.

Probably because I don't "sort" my contacts, but I don't understand what that is.  Of course I know what "display contacts" means (that is how they are shown, as first name first or last name first), but what is an example of why someone would want to sort their contacts?
    Thanks for your quick reply.

  • E66: Configuring contact sort order when composing...

    Dear friends,
This is probably a silly issue but still, I can't find a solution... I have upgraded my aging Nokia E66 RM-343 to 400.21.013 (this version was suggested by the Nokia Suite and it keeps telling me that this is the latest version). After the upgrade and restoring the phone settings, I am having problems with the contacts sort order when choosing recipients for an SMS message.
I have configured the contact list for the "Last Name First Name" display order, and when making a voice call, the sort order is correct - the contacts are sorted by the last name. However, when writing an SMS message and choosing the recipients, the contact list is displayed in the "Last Name, First Name" mode but it is sorted by the first name which is extremely confusing and inconvenient.
I just do not seem to be able to find where the sort order for the contact list as displayed when composing an SMS message can be configured. Anyone have any suggestion/hint? Thank you very much in forward!
    Best regards,
    Peter

Unfortunately, the 6230i seems to have only one field for the contact name, so it has no way of knowing what is what. I guess the only thing you can do is reinput all the names manually.

  • Sort Order option disabled when using OBIEE analysis?

    Hi everyone
I've build a BIP report using the online layout editor.  My data model is based on an existing OBIEE analysis. When I go into the data model and go into the properties of a column, the Sort Order option is somehow defaulted to "No Ordering" and the dropdown menu is actually disabled, so I can't change anything.  Is this normal/expected functionality or am I missing something somewhere?
    Thanks

I don't think it is possible. Here are the sort statements in this program.
    <u>Without Serialization</u>
    sort t_idoc_control_r
      by sndprn sndprt sndpfc mestyp
         mescod mesfct test serial.
    <u>With Serialization</u>
    sort t_idoc_control_s
by sndprt sndprn obj_type chnum chcou.
In neither of them, the document number is used. There is no guarantee that they will be processed in the document number order, even if serialization is used.

  • Sorting Photos Display Order

On my Mac I use Picasa to organise my photos. When I sync this iPad I am not happy with the sort order of photos in my albums and likewise I cannot seem to find a setting to change the choice of image for the album thumbnail.
Am I missing somethin or has Apple missed the opportunity to use drag and drop to change th display order?

Photos are sorted in capture date order (possibly create date), and cannot be sorted in any other order - unless you manipulate their dates. The thumbnails are (at least on my iPad) the oldest photo in each album. If you think Apple have missed something by doing it this way : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Contacts Display Order bug

From iOS 4.0.1 to 4.2 GM is problem with display order (contacts). When I restore new firmware on iPhone (3GS, 4) and I set in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars > Contacts Display Order > Last, First and I go to Phone>Contacts, Contacts still are displayed in First,Last format. To resolve this problem I have to go to background and close "Phone" and when I go to Phone again contacts are displayed correct. Sorry for my English I am from Poland.

Using your "edit" feature you should have no problems in listing your phone numbers in the order you choose. For example, all of my contacts have "home" listed first, followed by "mobile", etc.

  • Marketing Attribute Display Order on Account Overview Page (Web Client)

    Hi All,
I am using CRM 7.0 EhP 1 and I have encountered a item I need to address in regard to the display of a Marketing Attribute set on the Account Overview page (BP_HEAD/BPHEADOverview) on the Web Client.
The component in question on the page is BP_DATA/MarketingAttributesEOVP.
Once the Attribute set is selected on this component, I require that the Atributes display in the order which there are maintained in the Attribute Set Template Profile in transaction CRMD_PROF_TEMPL.
However, currently they are displaying alphabetically by attribute description on the Web Client as default.
Any idea how to achieve the requirement above as standard if possible?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan
We experienced the exact same issue.
We raised this with SAP OSS. There is no standard mechanism for altering the display order unfortunately.
The only options are custom are we were not prepared to make this sort of adjustment to the system.
Sorry I cannot give you better news.
    Regards

  • Photo display order on iPad

How is the display order determined after syncing photos to an iPad. I want to have them is a specific order but can't figure out how.

Actually the picture order is based on the order you put them in the folder. (not the sort order but the order you added them to the folder). Create a new folder and first add the picture you want the cover to be and then add as you wish to have them.
The sorting options do absolutely nothing for the iPad photos so you would need to create a new folder.

  • Sorting of CTO Options in Configurator UI

We currently have OM Use Configurator profile set to Yes. We do not currently publish bills/models into configurator, and rely on the default UI presented for configurator. We would like alphabetical sorting by item number for the options when we expand option class nodes.
    1. Can we influence the order of options listed in some way other than the BOM order without publishing bills/models and using OCD?
    2. If not, what is the recommended approach to sorting options alphabetically?
    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hi Joel,
BOM Options will be displayed (if they are effective) as per the Item Sequence order defined in the BOM.
If you want to display the options alphabetically sorted when you click on the option class, you can think of writing a Configurator Extension using CIO APIs. But for this you have to use OCD & publishing of models will be required.

  • Sorted address order in iCloud mail

How come addresses listed in alphabetical order in Contacts are sorted by email address in Mail?

If you are referring to "Contacts" as the Address Panel in Apple Mail on the Mac you may need to open Addressbook and go Addressbook>Preferences>General and select Sort by Last Name.
If you are referring to Contacts on the iPhone, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll down to Contacts and select Sort Order as Last, First. You can also change the Display order as you wish.

Not quite sure that answers the OP question though!   One solution is to download a free replacement dialer from the market, such as Dialer One, which allows the sorting of all contacts by Last Name, First Name
