Contacts sync only on second try

If I have apps that have not yet been synced, my contacts don't sync unless I do a first sync, in which the apps get synced, and then do a second sync, in which the contacts get synced.
During the first sync, iTunes reports that it is syncing contacts and apps, but only the apps get synced.
I imagine this is not the case for everyone since it would be a known issue or fixed, so here are the particulars of my configuration:
iPhone 4 with latest iOS
Windows Vista with all updates
iTunes with latest version
On the "Info" tab, Advanced | Replace information on this iPhone | Contacts
is selected.
When I start the sync, in all cases I click "Apply" since the sync button is replaced by "Revert" and "Apply" when the Contacts option is selected.
Do others see this? Any workarounds?

Welcome to the forums. Sory to hear about your page loading issue. If at all possible to help me out. Has this problem been going on for a while or ever since a recent update on your system?
There can be many reasons for this happening but it has been cropping up alot with IE 11 and Chrome.
The one fix i have found is as follows.
1: Open up IE 11
2: Go to tools then to internet options.
3: Click on the advianced tab at the top right.
4: Scroll down to the HTTP settings.
5: Uncheck " Use SPDY/3 "
6: Click "OK"
7: Close and then reopen IE11
8: Try and open up a website first time

MobileMe Contacts Sync - only some groups ?

Hi,
I know I can sync only selected groups via iTunes. But what about through MobileMe wireless Sync ? I have several big Groups I really only need on my home iMac and don't want to clutter up my Contacts on my 3G.
When I go to the MobileMe preferences I can only find a single button for Contacts, nothing to select individual Groups.

Pretty sure MobileMe doesn't offer that....

Contacts synced only partially

After turning off iCloud ('cause it doubled all of my calendar entries, contacts etc) i encounter the following problem: Many of my contacts in the Address Book are missing some information. Most commonly them don't have the picture next to their name. Although the missing info is on the iPhone4, it's just not syncing those informations to the adress book on the Mac. iCloud is removed everywhere, from all of my devices and the Mac as well, still the sync is not working correctly. Furthermore i don't get any prompt (as i've got sometimes in the past) that "there's some conflicts, which one would i like to apply" (the iPhone or the address book info), so i don't really have any button to press to get things straight. Tried restart, reconnect the iPhone...nothing.
I also tried to delete 1 contact from Address book, just to see if it get's synced in the case it's completely missing: no. So atm, iTunes is not syncing my contacts at all, although during the sync progress the "syncing contacts" shows up briefly in the iTunes window. Apple help!

Only 90% of Contacts synced to iPhone

I recently got my new iPhone and started then to add my Contacts to the Addressbook on my MacBook.
My issue is that iTunes syncs only 48 of my 57 Contacts from the Addressbook to my iPhone. Can anyone help?

First try resetting sync history in iSync. of that fails to fix the problem it means that you have one or more entries in Address Book that are corrupt. Try making a change to the ones that are not syncing and saving the change. It is usually just one that is bad, but that one stops the sync process. This is an address book problem, not an iPhone problem.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

How to sync only one group of contacts

I have created a "Group" of contacts in Address Book that are just those that I would like to carry on my iPhone 4. How can I set-up/sync only that group. Also, the bluetooth system on my auto, grabs the whole contact list, rather than the group that is "up front" on the iPhone.
Normally, I sync my iPhone thru Mobile Me, and when I try to sync through iTunes, I get a message warning me that this could create duplicates. Of course, I would like to avoid this. Would appreciate suggestions.

Did you already try to reset the sync history?
If you find that some of your data syncs to your device but you see an unexpected number of changes or modifications, you may need to reset your sync history. This causes iTunes to prompt to Merge or Replace information on the device when you next attempt to sync your information. To reset your Sync History:
Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button.

4.      Select "Phone" menu
Check if you have 10 Devices registered.
If you have, you need to delete one of them to add your new Smart Phone to Exchange for synching
Check the "Last Sync Time" to indicate if this device is still active or not.

755p - How to sync only Exchange email but not calendar or contacts?

I successfully set up my new 755p to sync with our Exchange server at work, but I noticed that ALL of my work contacts were now on my Treo, and vice-versa. When I go to the settings for email by using Options -> Preferences -> Auto Sync there are 3 check boxes, one each for Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. I thought this was my solution but unfortunately when I check one box, they all check. And when I uncheck one box, they all uncheck. Why are there 3 separate check boxes here if they all work together or none at all? And if there is no way to individually check a box, how can I have my Treo 755p only sync with my Exchange email, and not with my contacts or calendar? I do not want all my personal contacts on my Treo getting sent to my work Exchange contacts. I only need the sync feature to get my work email delivered to my Treo when I'm not in the office. Thanks.

Unfortunately EAS in Versamail 3.5 is an all or nothing option. In the product information if you were purchasing Versamail 3.5 is the Using built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, wirelessly sync Calendar, Contacts, and email with your company's Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (access enabled by your IT administrator). Or, access business email using POP or IMAP and a compatible Virtual Private Network (VPN) client (sold separately). The Guidelines for EAS on Exchange Server 2003 with MSFP (message and security feature pack) puts out the specification for Windows Mobile devices to sync Email, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks to Exchange server and any other partnership can do files, favorites, notes, media but the PIMS once enabled to go through EAS will only go through EAS until that partnership is removed. On a Palm OS based device the 755 is compatible for Direct Push email, calendar and contacts sync as well as some policy enforcement from the Mobile Access Admistrator plugin for Exchange 2003 such as PW enforcement, remote wipe. The specifications made the rules. Versamail 3.5 on the Treo 755 just follows them.

When you connect the iPhone to sync with the new computer, a number of things will happen. If the new computer/iTunes does not contain any music, then yes, you will receive a prompt saying this iPhone is synced to another library, and if you continue, you will lose your music. However, you risk losing a number of other things, such as apps, contacts and calendar data. When you ask about photos, any photos that you have on the iPhone that were synced from the previous computer would also be lost. You need to save the photo folder from the old laptop and transfer that to the new desktop. You also need to sync the contacts and calendar to the same supported application that you were using in the past, such as Outlook, unless you are using an outside web-based sync, such as Google. Also, when you first connect the iPhone, it will make a backup, or at least make sure that it does before you attempt to sync, or you will not have a backup of some of the other things, such as mail settings, SMS, and the contents of the Camera Roll. I would import the photos from the camera roll to the new computer before trying to do anything else in iTunes.

Contacts are not stored in a backup, so a restore will not bring them in. Contacts, along with all the other Apple databases (log into icloud.com with a browser and look at the various pages - this is what I call the Apple databases) are contained in their own locations on the servers. You should be able to take a new device, go to Settings>iCloud, log in to the icloud account, then turn on the services (e.g. contacts) you want to sync. They will then be synced to the device. That has nothing to do with a restore and with the old iphone 4. As for apps, their listing and locations on the screens are stored in a backup. If you don't restore, then go to the itunes app store, look under Purchased Apps and download them again.

If you turned off Contacts wouldnt that mean that the Contacts would no longer be backed up to iCloud as well? That would make it a pain when upgrading a phone to not easily pull contacts back down.
