Contacts sync with windows contacts ignores "iPhone" numbers.

Was sync'ing contacts through iTunes today and noticed that any phone numbers on my iPhone that were classified as "iPhone" (as opposed to mobile, home, work, etc) are dropped on my windows contact card.  I have to change them to "Mobile" to get them to sync to the PC.
Anyone else notice this?  Is there a way to map "iPhone' numbers to a valid field in windows contacts?

Thanks I thought I was the only who is trying to solve the same problem.

  • An extra group 'on my iphone' appeared after i sync with windows contact via itunes

I am having this problem which appears to be happened after i sync with my computer. In the contact group, there is an extra group 'on my iphone' appeared after i sync with windows contact via itunes, and even though now i stop syncing already, the group is still there. Can anyone here give me some suggestion on how to remove this group permantly, i not just wanted to remove the contacts but the entire group form appearing on my iphone. Thanks.

Is the app compatible with the iPhone (e.g. it's not and iPad-only app), and do you have the relevant iOS version on the phone ? Or do you have Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps set 'off' on the phone which will stop new apps being installed ?

  • Contacts Sync with Windows Live Mail 2011

I'm using Windows 7 with the Windows Live Mail 2011 desktop application for email and contacts. Is it possible to sync the contacts in my Windows Live Mail 2011 application with my iPhone (iOS v4) using iTunes?
In Windows Vista, I used Windows Mail which stored contacts data in the Contacts folder within my profile (c:\users\username\contacts). These contacts did sync with my iPhone without any problems. Windows 7 doesn't have an email application built-in so, I'm using Windows Live Mail 2011. Windows Live Mail 2011 doesn't store contacts in the Contacts folder within my profile though. Is there anyway to sync my iPhone with my Windows Live Mail 2011 contacts?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Found this with a quick Google search:
To sync contacts with your computer, choose Sync Contacts on your Windows-based PC, or Sync Contacts with Address Book on your Mac.
You can sync your contacts with:
    * Microsoft Outlook 2003 or Microsoft Outlook 2007 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    * Windows Address Book (Windows XP and Windows Vista)
    * Address Book (Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later)
    * Microsoft Entourage 2004 or Microsoft Entourage 2008
So it looks like the answer is no, you can't sync your contacts with Windows Live Mail 2011.

  • Address book/Contacts sync with Windows Mobile

    Hi.
Curious if anyone has tried getting a Windows Mobile to wirelessly sync with Address Book Server and with iCal Server?
IMAP mail works great, but I have a client with mostly Windows Mobile phones and was wondering if there was a way to do this.
    Thanks.

For a Windows Phone 7 you can use this http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/windows-phone-7-connector/id415571499?mt=12

  • Google CONTACT sync with iCloud Contact sync?!

i am trying to finalize a sync of my contacts so that i have PHONE NUMBERS sorted in groups on my iPhone but i /also/ have email addresses to use in the autocomplete function in Mail on my phone.
if i don't have the Phone Numbers sorted into groups i will not be able to find anything and if i don't have emails in the autocomplete then i have to literally run a search in (what i have found to be a weak search function on the iPhone in Mail) then i have to find an email sent from this person, then i have to COPY the address than i have to paste it into an email.
i /currently/ have a sync using iCloud of my MOST IMPORTANT phone numbers and the "Previous Recipients" email data that i have run a applescript to get into AB/Contacts. So now the phone numbers and this Previous Recipients data is available to all devices.
i won't bore you with the details but i am finally uploading everything else (business cards etc, etc) to Google Contacts.
does anyone have any suggestions at this point as to whether i can ADD a sync with Google presumably by checking something in iTunes OR whether there is a way to add a GMail as a Microsoft Exchange Account?

SHOULD I JUST EXPORT MY CONTACTS/ADDRESS BOOK DATA and import it to Google and just do a Google sync?
CAN I DO BOTH SYNCS AT THE SAME TIME?
WILL THE GOOGLE DATA SHOW UP in autocomplete in MAIL on all my devices?
anyone done this in a way that works?!
    THANKS

    Preference -> Accounts
Under accounts you have your local On My Mac account, which Apple supplies the ability to sync with google and yahoo. Then there is no way to sync it with icloud. When you add your icloud account as well you just have 2 seperate address books in the same app, with no way to keep them in sync.
    Do you mean like this?
I don't seem to be having any issue adding an iCloud account to address book.

  • Icloud contacts sync with outlook contacts?

I have got my contacts in icloud but i cannot sync these with outlook contacts si i have two lists and the outlook list is not kept uptodate . How do i sync both and keep them synced. Also my sansung smart phone takes the outlook calender and contacts and i want to sync both systems.??
    Help please

    Tell iCloud what to sync.
Have you installed the iCloud control panel on the computer?  Without that, nothing will sync from the computer to iCloud.

  • 2 way contact sync with gmail contacts

I set up gmail account on iPhone (3GS), using Exchange option. When I enable the Contacts in iPhone setup, I see that all my Gmail contacts have transferred over to the iPhone (and I now have duplicates when looking at "All Contacts," but see there is a separate Gmail Contacts group which has only those Gmail contacts.
However, if I add a new contact to Address Book, and then sync, that new contact does NOT sync over to Gmail, so it appears to be one way. I do have mobileme, but I realize that probably doesn't get it over to Gmail.
    So.... 2 questions:
    1) Is there a way to get true two way sync of contacts between iPhone and Gmail
    2) Is there any way to NOT have duplicate contacts when choosing All Contacts on iPhone (I suppose I could just leave it on Gmail Contacts, which if syncing 2 way, should show everything)...
    Thanks--

Adding a contact on the phone syncs up to the Gmail contacts online satisfactorily (although I haven't tested different additions, like Fred & Wilma, vs. Barney)
Editing contacts on the phone syncs up somewhat.  Eg, I have Barney Rubble, and edit it to show Barney & Betty Rubble. In the notes, I put 'Bam-Bam'.  The edited note will show up, but the name change will not.
I'm resorting to the brute force method.  Deleting the contact entirely, and re-entering it.

  • Help BB Q10 - syncing with windows 7 contacts

I've just bought a BB Q10 (for me) AND a BB Z10 (for she who must e obeyed) Both are set up to sync via BB link (1.1.1.41) with windows 7 contacts on our respective laptops. The Z10 sync's without any problem BUT the Q10 will not sync and comes up with the error code of 2511 'error converting Unicode string to or from code page string'. A web search says this is a known fault and that a fix is on its way BUT this was dated March 2013. Does anyone know of a fix OR when the BB fix will be available?

    Steve:
    For my Z30...
I received the error code 5211 when attempting my first sync with BBLink and my Z30.  My data file included about 1400 contacts so I took a stab at parsing the task.  Rather than trying to synch the entire contact list I broke the task down to blocks of 117 and completed the task over multiple syncs.  I also suspected a mapping error so in conjunction with the "sync-in-nibbles" technique I also remapped some questionable fields that I thought may be confusing the process.  I don't know if both or just one of these was the remedy but I did get the sync completed and subsequent syncs have been trouble free.
A caveate to the above....which may or may not apply to your situation.
BBLink would not recognize Outlook, ie, Outlook was not offered as a sync option via BBlink.  I was offered only Windows Contacts as a sync option and this folder is typically empty.  So, to skirt this problem I exported my Outlook Contacts as CSV to an intermediate folder.  I then imported the CSV file into Windows Contacts which, during the import, converted the CSV file into 1400 individual x.contact records.  I then used BBLink to sync my Z30 with the Windows Contact folder and transferred all contacts to the Z30 without a hitch.  To verify that contacts modified on the Z30 would update in Outlook, I performed another sync with Windows Contacts.  I verified that the changes did xfer and new contacts were added to Win Contacts as expected.  Next, I exported the Windows Contact files to a new Folder as a CSV file.  I then used Outlook to import the CSV file and I verified that the edits made on the Z30 did appear in Outlook.  Sync Complete! Whew!  Its really not that bad to perform once I had a process tuned.
I purge the Windows Contact folder before importing each new CSV file.  Actually, I simply move thm to a purgatory folder until I am sure I no longer need them then I purge.
Windows Contacts is available with Vista and Win 7.
For all you folks who have Win 7 or Vista and can't sync with Outlook, try the above process using Windows Contacts.  Hope it eases the pain.

  • HT1296 I lost my sync with gmail contacts with Iphone on Itunes.  How I can do that again?

I want to know how I can sync my Iphone contacts with my google contacts again?

    Hello Eltontsang,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you Google contacts are no longer syncing to your phone.
This article should help you get back up and running in that regard:
    iOS: Syncing with Google Contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872
Follow these steps if you're using iOS 7 to sync your contacts with Google Contacts:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Google.
Enter the required information in the fields.
    Make sure Contacts is on.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
    Additional Information
If you're using iOS 5 or iOS 6, follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account... > Other > Add CardDAV Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: your full Google email address
    Password: your Google account password
Tap Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings) and the port is 443.
You may also visit the Google website to learn more about syncing with Google contacts.
    All the very best,

  • Why won't contacts sync with iphone

I'm loosing the will to live and I've spent hours trawling through the huge amount of fixes suggested on various sites but to no avail. I run a macbook pro, OSX10.6.8, Itunes 10.4 and the software on the iphone was updated today. Syncing with iTunes worked fine up until about 3 weeks ago - I don't know what happend but it just stopped. If I delete all the contacts in the mac address book (310) and run a sync nothing changes on the 472 iphone contacts. All the settings appear to be correct in the preferences. If I check the box to stop syncing contacts and delete all 472 contacts on the phone - they all dissapear. When I reset the sync contacts check box and check the "replace all the contacts on this phone during the next sync" box I get all 472 back again. Can anybody offer any help at all please before I slash my wrists!!

Clearly it doesn't work as I imagine! But I still don't understand what you mean. I'm not saying that I don't like Google's instructions,- what makes you say that?  I'm saying that I think I've already followed them to the letter. How have I not? What else, exactly, do I need to do? Talk me through an example, please.
"You have added a data conduit between Google and your phone. But you have not put anything IN that conduit, save the data Google already has."
What I want to put into it is the contact data aleady on my phone (and in icloud). Google's instruction seems to say that to put something in the conduit, I just have to open Contacts on the iphone. Clearly that's not correct. So what do I do?
Here's what I'm refering to in Goolge's instructions:
"If you're using iOS 5 or iOS 6, follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account... > Other > Add CardDAV Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: your full Google email address
    Password: your Google account password
Tap Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically."
The last sentence seems to me to mean that opening Contacts will "put someting in the conduit".

  • TS1347 How do I sync with windows mail contacts with my iPhone 4S?

How do I sync with windows mail contacts with my iPhone 4S?  I want to move my email contact information from Windows Mail to my iPhone 4S

You don't need Outlook to sync contacts. You do have Windows Contacts available which is a supported address book application for syncing contacts with the iPhone.
Windows Live Mail is not an email client. Windows Live Mail is an email account that can be accessed via webmail access using a browser or with an email client such as with Outlook or Windows Mail on a PC.
You can export your Windows Live Mail contacts from your Windows Live Mail online address book for import into the Windows Contacts address book application on your PC which is supported for syncing contacts with your iPhone.

  • HT2486 can I have two contact lists on one mac book pro?  I need one to sync with my iphone, one to sync with my husband's iphone.

can I have two contact lists on one mac book pro?  I need one to sync with my iphone, one to sync with my husband's iphone.

I agree with Chris CA that this is the way I would *expect* iTunes to behave.
When I look at iTunes from my account (my music is in ~/Music/iTunes/ and not available to my spouse's account), I can see in my music library all my rips and my purchases, just as I would expect. I can use Store>View My Account (<myAppleID>) and all is as expected. Home sharing is NOT on.
Doing the same from the other account is not much different, actually. Nothing in the library yet, of course. Store>View My Account (<herAppleID>) also works. I CAN authorize my computer to play her music. I CAN view her iTunes purchases. When I attempt to download the purchases to HER library, though, I get the following dialog box:
Now I interpret this to mean that this computer (mine) will not download from a different AppleID (also mine) for 90 days. Is that [interpretation] correct?
