Contacts synced from Facebook in iOS 6 won't delete

I have downloaded iOS 6 and it brings over your contacts from Facebook. It has allowed me to delete a couple of unwanted contacts, but now it has stopped deleting them!
Any ideas guys and gals?

You can't delete albums that you have synced to your iPhone directly on the iPhone. To delete them you have to sync again with the unneeded albums unselectsd in iTunes.

Yes. Try this.
Open the Facebook app and go to your Friends section.
At the top right, tap the arrow button then select "sync contacts".
This will upload iphone contacts to facebook and download facebook contacts on to the iphone.

I can't delete contacts I synced from Facebook

I am trying to sort out my contacts and I can't seem to be able to delete contacts that I imported from Facebook. It won't let me click on the delete button like it does for normal contacts. Any help would really be appreciated.

If they were placed on the phone via iTunes sync from a computer you delete them by syncing again using the following instructions from Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
Delete synced photos
In iTunes, locate and click on your device.
Click Photos.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
Click Apply.

Right, I finally managed to get it sorted out.
iCloud only accept version 3.0 vcards, and the one I was using were version 2.1 so that's why it wasn't picking it up. So the easy way to get that sorted out is, use a gmail account.
I know you don't wanna do it because you think it's too much hassle and stuff, but trust me it only takes 5 minutes and that's it.
1. Create a Gmail Account.
2. Export your Old VCard files to the Gmail Account.
3. Now Import them from Gmail to your PC again.
And, that's it, that's just makes the new imported version in 1 file contains your all contacts in version 3.0. Now you can just upload that on icloud and then sync it with your iphone.
That's what I did and it worked, and I am sure if you wanna replace this file in the Contacts folder under your User Account in Windows and then try to sync Contacts in Tunes, it should work, but as I said, I did it with iCloud and it worked for me. So aye, that's pretty much it. Phewwww..
Been searching for it for the whole day and it took 5 minutes in the end, badass...
Anyway, don't lose hope and always Google for everything!

Desktop Manager - contacts sync from Entourage but...

Desktop Manager - contacts sync from Entourage but when I add a new contact, it won't sync the other way. I have all teh Sync options set in Entourage as per the instructions.

I have the same problem with getting new calendar appointments from my 8530 Curve into Entourage (on Mac OS x v. 10.6.3). They go into iCal. I have Entourage sync preferences set to sync with iCal, and I have Desktop Manager advanced sync options set for events created on the device to go to Entourage - but they don't. I have "merge data" and two-way syncing set. It works fine syncing from Entourage to my BB.
How can I get data added on my BB to go directly into Entourage?

Contacts disappeared from phone after iOS 4.2 update

I updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 4.2 and after some contacts disappeared from my phone but are still on my computer. I've tried resetting sync history, I even restored the phone and the same contacts still won't show up. I have a PC that runs Windows 7, I've been using it since September and I never had this issue before.

did you also try to use the option to replace all contacts on the phone with the ones on the computer during the following sync? You can find this option in the info pane, advanced section.

Why is contact sync from iphone or ipad to local iMac address book gone?

An option for syncing contacts from iphone or ipad to iMac seems to be gone. From searching other posts on this topic, I see where contact sync is now "through iCloud" but is this the EXCLUSIVE choice for syncing contacts? In other words, there is no longer any sync of contacts NOT through iCloud; I cannot sync contacts from my iPhone to my iMac without it all being stored in the cloud.
This is absurd. My iCloud was hacked (not a password issue on my iMac or any local trojan/etc there are support threads about this) and tons of spam sent to my contacts when I used to sync through the cloud. I turned off iCloud sync for contacts and opted instead to sync from phone to mac and from iPad to mac and this was working just fine, keeping me nice and updated every day no matter where I modified any contacts.
Now it seems that is no longer possible. Is this by design? Why on earth was this removed? Is it a "feature" of these new products to remove working sync methods and force everything through the cloud??

The ability to sync contacts, calendar and browser bookmarks directly from a Mac running Mavericks to an IOS device via USB or WiFi has indeed been removed. Synching through iCloud, Exchange, WebDAV or a similar cloud service is the only option now. You can comment to Apple in this issue via their feedback page, if you wish:

Exchange: contacts sync from read-only folder

In the past, I have been able to set up a device to get its contact info from a read-only Exchange public folder (set with one-way sync). Setting up a replacement device, that option is greyed out and the folder in question cannot be selected. Desktop software version is 7.0.0.43; device is a Tour 9630 running OS 5.0. Help? We are not running BES.

The problem was corruption of my brand new Imac 27. I went around and around with applecare and they finally figured out that my preferences were corrupted. Usuallly that can be fixed but they were unable. Basically, everytime I set the right connection to gmail up, it changed it...
Finally, I set up a new user account on my mac. I logged into that user and started all over again. Now everything works.
I spent hours and hours on this... I bought a mac because "It just works" No more fooling with the registry and spending forever in dread with tech support. OK, so Mac doesn't have a registry. It has libraries. I spent forever fixing it.. Felt just like my Windows experience. Hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come.

IPhone contact syncing from another computer.

My Friend has an old 3Gs and wants to transfer all his contacts from his old 3Gs to his new iPhone 4s. Only catch is he doens't have a cpmpoture and was wondering if it is possible to do it using my MacBook despite the fact that his old phone was synced to his ex-girlfriends computer and has never been synced to mine.

Then it must be a 3G rather than a 3GS. Probably the only option then is to transfer them to a gmail exchange account on the old phone, as explained here: http://transfer-iphone-contacts.blogspot.com/p/transfer-iphone-contacts-via-gmai l.html. Then set up the same exchange account on the new phone and turn contact syncing to On. Then be sure not to sync contacts with iCloud on the new phone. (Trying to sync data with both iCloud and gmail exchange can create problems.)

Okay, so we're moving forward now. no problem. while waiting for a response I noticed that both NUMBERS and PAGES sync-ed to the iCloud on iphone5. However, I am still waiting for the iPad to sync. post IOS8. Should I go get a cup of coffee or is there a way to expedite the sync process?

I'm not certain why they are not syncing. It can be addressed in a couple of different ways. You could reset the sync history and see if that helps. There is a way to add a note to a contact in the iPhone by going to edit for a contact and then scroll to the bottom and select "add field" and select note. If you already have a note added, it should appear below the contact's information and above the buttons for text message, Facetime, etc.

Facebook decided people with the iPhone 3G were not the sort of users they want. Your only choice is to get a newer phone. And complain to Facebook.

How can I back up Contacts synced from an Exchange server into iCloud?

Hi everybody. I would like to back up into iCloud my Contact (and Calendars too) which I have previously synced to the device ( that is an iPad air running iOS 8.2.1) from an Exchange server. The green flags in Settings / ICloud are duly switched on but no contact will appear under Groups/all iCloud. Is this feature feasible at all or is there something missing in the procedure I follow ? Hi Brendan. Thanks for your clue but unfortunately that did not solve the problem. Prior to posting my query I had already checked out the article you're referring me to (whose URL is http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605). It may well be that I'm not being crystal clear owing to my far from perfect English but the whole point is precisely that I'm not able to import contacts which ALREADY appear on my iPad - being the outcome of syncing my remote MS Exchange account with the device - into iCloud. The procedure described in the quoted article simply doesn't work (for that matter, no such Setting sign pops up under ICloud contacts). In fact, it appears that the only contacts which I'm able to keep under iCloud are those which I directly create from scratch within iCloud Group itself. Since I'm likely to have my MS outlook account ( which is mirrored into a MS Exchange one for remote usage) forcibly deleted in one month time or so, I started worrying about how to keep my contacts alive/ intact after that deletion. How to see iPhone contacts (synced from Google) in Messages app on Mac

My iPhone 7 (iOS 7) Contacts are synched with Google Contacts.
The Messages app in the iPhone shows the names of the people I'm messaging with - however
The Messages app in my iMac (Mavericks) does not show the names of the people I'm messaging with -- it shows just their phone number
How can I configure my iMac so that my Messages app shows the names of the people i'm messaging with?
From what i can tell, I need to figure out a way to sync my iMac Contacts app with the Contacts app on my iPhone via iCloud.
When I configure iCloud to sync contacts between the iPhone and the iMac, the synchronization is one-way only. Any contacts in my iMac show up in my iPhone. But all my other contacts in iPhone (synched from Google Contacts) do not show up in the iMac.
How can I synch ALL my iPhone Contacts to my iMac? (including the ones that are in the iPhone because they were synched from Google Contacts).

Sync the contacts on your Mac with Google Contacts as well... There is no need to involve iCloud.
Perhaps you should take a look at Google's help pages.

N8 contacts update from Facebook

I have a number of my contacts linked to their facebook profile, this was done from within the contact so I think before belle maybe? I've noticed that the profile pictures aren't updating, what's going on? Looking in the social app they're still linked together.
