Contacts - take picture for contact photo (bug report)

I came across a problem using my Q5.
When I attempty to add a new contact, and proceed to take a picture for that contact, the camera doesn't allow me to take a picture. Further, the camera does not respond and I can only swipe up and close the camera app. It appears the camera continues to 'stay on' and the volume controls do not work after.
this is cleared up after a reset.
also, after the latest update, the phone continues to report that it has been updated to the latest version upon successful reboot (unsure if this is intended)

Yes adding a picture from the system works. The only update notice is post reboot, when loading into the main screen.

Picture for contact question

Okay - in all of the examples and videos when you call someone or are in a call it shows that the images is a small thumbnail next to the name with what looks like your wall paper on the entire screen.
When I am in a call the wallpaper changes to the photograph I have associated with the contact.
So - how do I get it to look like it does in the pictures and videos?

When a photo is selected for a contact on the iPhone, the photo for the contact fills the entire screen as the caller ID.
When selected via the Address Book application, it will be shown as a thumbnail only which I've never liked much since it is a head shot only which isn't large enough IMO so I prefer the full photo option.

Full screen picture for contacts

I have recently upgrade to the iphone 5. I use MS Exchange to sync contacts and email. I want to have full screen picture for caller ID but it only gives me a thumbnail. Any suggestions to get full screen picture for caller ID?

It used to be that if you assigned the picture while on the phone, it was full screen. I remember reading around iOS 5 I believe that it only allowed for full screen, but I still have a couple that are only thumbnails that have been synced over from contacts in LinkedIn. Try assigning the picture from the phone itself and see if that changes it.

Ringtone and picture for contacts N8

I am trying to give some contacts a ringtone and picture. But what I am doing, it doesn't work.
I go to contacts than "bewerken"(Dutch), "rewrite" in Englisch? and give a tone and picture from my Nokia N8.
But when they call I see nothing and hearing my standard tone.
Anyone a idea?

I find adding pictures to contacts easiest using Ovi suite, select contact, edit, add picture from pc then sync contacts. With ringtone,on the handset, select contact>options>edit, scroll to ringtone tap and then select the tone you want to assign to the contact.

How long for answer to bug report?

I posted a bug report a few weeks ago and evrything looked like it submitted fine.
...but haven't heard anything back about it, and it isn't listed in the bug database.
I used my member name and new email address when I submitted.
I would be encouraging to see something (anything) like "yes we at least have it in a queue of bugs to look at"
Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a bug to show up in the database?

Well I submitted a bug report on 13 Nov 2007 and received an acknowledgement within 24 hours but nothing since. Did you get an acknowledgement?

When you go into the bug tracker, there's a drop down list on your left that says "Arch Linux". Go into there, select "Community Packages", and pres the "switch" button right next to it.

Selecting pictures for Online Photo Processing Centers other than Kodak

How can I select photos for printing in Elements for online photo processing sites other than Kodak? Is there a simple way to do this in the Organizer? The online photo sites usually give me only a thumbnail view of the picture and I can't tell which is best.
The way I've been doing it is tagging photos in Elements as favorites, and then tabbing back and forth between Elements (to view the pictures) and online site (to find the name). There has to be a better way to do this!

Choose your photos in the organizer and export them to a folder on your desktop, then upload from there.

Resizing pictures for printed photos

I take a lot of pictures with my cell phone, and whenever I try to get prints from either Walmart or Shutterfly, the pictures is always cropped, with heads cut off, or feet and legs cut off. I have contacted Shutterfly about this issue and they told me that I need to change my resolution, or ratio in photoshop and then upload the picture to be printed. I don't exactly know how to go about doing this, or what to even change it too. Can anybody offer some help, or does anyone have any experience with this?

iTunes does optimise photos before they are transferred to the iPod (you can see a message in the window at the top of iTunes as it does it). It does not change the dimensions of the photos to fit the iPod screen, but it does reduce the resolution and file size. It also creates a very small version that you can see when there are multiple images on the iPod screen
If you select the option to include the originals in iTunes it will then store the original file, a version optimised for the iPod screen and the tiny little thumbnails as well.

Takes time for clear photo to come up (pixellated).

Hello. I am using iPhoto 2 and notice that when I click on a photo, it takes 3 or 4 seconds for the picture to become clear, ie: it looks pixellated but finally clears to a good picture. Hope someone can tell me how to fix this if possible.

Sorry Terrance, this is reference to our ibook G4 NOT the iMac. (2 on i5 does sound a bit bizzare alright! Even having just iPhoto 2 is a big lag and will update it one of these days!)
I tried Preview and they do seem to open quicker in that, ie about 1-2 seconds as opposed to 4-5 in iPhoto.
Re your reference to size, you may have something there as the files are quite large, ie 4 mb +/-. Ones in the 1 mb range open fairly quickly.

Setting the top picture for a photo album

My conversion to the new iWeb has gone smoothly so far. I'm doing some re-ordering of my site to use the new My Albums pages. The thing is, when I drag one of my old Photo pages under the My Albums page, it always shows the first photo. How do I change this? While I can skim through the contents of the Photo Page like I can skim events in iPhoto, it doesn't set the preview photo like you do in iPhoto. Am I missing something?
This is probably dirt simple, but I just can't see it right now.

I can't figure out how to do this either. It is not mentioned in the iWeb Help. I've seen a few forum discussions on this and have not seen anyone yet who has figured this out. If this ability is in there, it needs to be made easier to discover. If this feature is not in there, it needs to be. To my thinking, this is core functionality. Apple would seem to agree, because they have included the ability to identify "key" photos for Events in iPhoto '08. And in the new Web Galleries. Even lowly old Homepage can do this...
The current implementation of just using the first photo on a page does not cut it. If photos are presented on a page in chronological order, (eg, to tell a story), or in alphabetical order, etc., the first picture is not going to be a good representation of the content. And having to rearrange the photos on your page to place the best picture first makes no sense from an organizational standpoint.
If you agree that this is a problem, please provide feedback to Apple.

How do I take pictures from my photo stream to me PC?

I downloaded the Icloud for my PC. I see the picture in Photo stream on my PC in Favorites. The instruction say to just copy it to my PC. But it wont let me COPY? I must be missing something. I see no option to pull the picture I want on my photo stream and put it on my pc. lol I am starting to think it be easy to get the photo on the SD card and put it there that way. I was trying to just pull it from my photo stream? HELP?

Problem: Contact Headshot Picture Images Corrupted

I just purchased a new 80GB iPod and love it. I've only noticed one problem, and it's starting to weigh on me:
I have a "me" Address Book contact on the iPod and the picture associated with my card looks fine. I decided to add a few more headshot pictures for contacts who are members of my family. I added the images to each of the respective contacts in Address Book and then synced the iPod with iTunes to update the contacts on my iPod.
When I look the updated contacts, however, the headshot picture for each one is corrupted. The top 2/3 of the image is fine, but it then dissolves into mush in the bottom 1/3 of the image. When I check the same contacts in Address Book, they look fine.
I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm using a 17" Mac PowerBook G4 with OSX 10.4.10 and Address Book 4.05.

i've had the exact same problem on my 60gig iPod video.
i've done numerous things to try and correct it but with no success. apple support said to restore my iPod. i didnt think that would work, and it didn't. after restoring and resyncing all my contacts have varying degrees of corruptness.
it is my opinion that there is a cache file on the Mac NOT THE iPOD, that maintains the contact photos, and that file itself is corrupt. i've not had any success with apple suppport or my local apple store with finding someone who can identify where the images are cached at, so i can dump them and solve the problem. oddly enough a Safe Boot, which is suppose to dump all the Apple caches, does not appear to get this one.
i've even tried to select a whole new image for a contact, but it too will come out looking corrupt.
i agree, it's very disturbing. the other problem i'm having is i now own an iPhone. guess what, the images appear normally on it!!! so that only backs up my assumption that there is a cache somewhere for the contact images that sync to the iPod, and it is corrupt with no way to wipe it out.
if you find a solution, PLEASE let me know.

I cannot find images for contact sheet printing.

I have been printing hundreds of contact sheets and from time to time when I add pictures for contact sheet, I am unable to find the images I want even though they are open and in the project bin and in the same folder. I may find two but not the other two and so on. They all are the same size. Thanks.

You need to go into more detail about your problem. Perhaps you can provide screenshots of your dilemma with the software and provide more information that may help people answer your question. If not, you can always try reading the manual.
