Contacts will disappear after bulk vCard import

Hi all,
After bulk importing multiple 700 vCard contacts to the Address Book application (Version 8.0 - 1371) on Mac OX Mavericks, they disappear after closing and reopening the application, just showing the original 7 iCloud contacts I previously created.
Facts:
I am trying to import (by drag & drop) 700 vCards 2.1 - windows latin 1 (already selected this format in the Address Book Settings), created with Outlook 2002.
Address Book is connected to iCloud
Already tried, unsuccessfully:
Merging previously all vCard into a single one.
Doing the import after disconnecting iCloud, merging the contacts, reactivating iCloud.
Doing the import after disconnecting WiFi and LAN, merging the contacts (even without reactivating them afterwards).
Creating a new contact after the import before closing the application.
The previous 3 combined.
Importing the merged vCard directly on iCloud (getting Error though the file doesn't exceed the limitations)
In any case is that after closing the application the imported contact not be there any more: only the 7 iCloud contacts (or the "on this mac" if iCloud deactivated) will remain in the Agenda. I do not think it has to do with iCloud.
I the only clue I have, is that importing the vCards one by one, or in small groups (>10), they "may" remain recorded in the Address Book.
Does anyone have an idea or workaround to make this bulk import of vCard contacts?
Thanks,

So I had to do it manually... in blocks of 5-15 to see the conflicting vCards, that would not be recorded (and hence not automatically synchronized with iCloud).
Out of the 712 contacts, 8 were not recognized by the Adressbook.
No idea why, because the other 704 vCards were in the same format (v2.1) and codification (Windows latin 1), and where having also special characters in the .vcf filename or in the data inside.
I think there is a codification/import issue that Apple should check.

  • E1000 Router Wireless signal will disappear after some time

    Hi,
I have set up the E1000 this week, i found that the wireless signal would disappear after some time if the wireless connection is not in use.
    For example, on my iphone
    1. I search for the wireless signal and successfully got the IP
    2. after using for some time, i put the iphone aside
    3. when i want to use the wireless again, the iphone is not yet connected to the wireless
    4. i would then need to search for the wireless signal and connect again.
This causes problems because i am using some VPN connection at my laptop and it would disconnect it.
Is there any config that would keep the wireless signal ?
    Thanks!

Try changing the wireless channel on the router.
Also try to change some advanced wireless settings on the router. Click on Wireless tab and go to Advanced wireless settings. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.
    See if that helps you.

  • N9 Contacts erased, disappear after microsoft exch...

I have an N9. I used to have a large number of contacts. I used to have two accounts configured, one was nokia account, another one was a corporate MS Exchange. All of the contacts in my contact list were completely unrelated to corporatge account. they were configured to be
automatically synched with Nokia contacts backup service, whatever it was. These contacts existed on my N8, and used nokia account to back them up there and get them installed on N9. Now after I deleted My Corporate MS Exchage account yesterday all my phone contacts  disappeared too. Running sync contacts does not get me anything. Can someone tell how I can get my contacts back?

Did you ever solve your problem? I'm having the same one. I re-enabled the Exchange account to get them back, but the account will be closed soon when I leave my job, and I need to make sure I keep the contacts. Please help if you can. :-)

  • IPhoto 09 originals disappeared after Aperture 3 import

*My situation as it used to be:*
Aperture 2 contained my iPhoto library as referenced masters. All was good.
    *My current situation:*
After updating to Aperture 3, I decided to import all of my iPhoto files so I'd have a single library with all my photos. Like some other people, I ran into strange issues with only some of my photos being successfully imported. This led me to try to import my iPhoto library several times, both using "Import > iPhoto Library…" and the media browser. I also rebuilt my iPhoto library (by holding down cmd + opt while opening the program) a couple of times, and eventually gave up, thinking it might get fixed in a future update.
Now, a few weeks later, further inspection reveals that a significant portion of my iPhoto images have in fact been deleted. Specifically, I've still got all 1437 thumbnails, but only 200 or so of the actual images. The ones I've got, I have both in the "Originals" and "Modified" directories, but like I said, more than a thousand are missing. I don't know how or when this happened, but it's not how it used to be, so I can only assume that it has something to do with my escapades described above.
Unfortunately, I've backed up after attempting to consolidate these libraries, so the situation is the same on my sole backup drive. I know I should have redundant backups, but I don't.
    I've got two questions:
    i) Is there any way to get these images back? I don't see how it could be done without some serious forensics, but I have to ask…
ii) Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Like I said, I'm not sure how it happened, I just assume there's some connection between said events and my files going missing. It seems reasonable to me.
    Thanks,
    Anders

    Update
Thanks for your reply, Terence. I think I've figured out what happened. In addition to my iPhoto library, I used to have a folder hierarchy of old photographs as referenced files in Aperture. All of those images are gone from their original folders, but they are still in my Aperture library.
What I think happened, is that I brought the files into my Aperture library with "Consolidate Masters…", thinking that would copy the originals into Aperture, not remove them from their original path. Later, when I discovered that my iPhoto folder was out of date, I removed it (as there is no synchronization feature) so that I could reimport all of the images once and for all. Because the files had actually been removed from their original place inside the iPhoto library, this failed miserably. It seems that the 200 or so images I was able to import, were the ones that had been modified in iPhoto and were still intact inside the "Modified" folder.
I guess you could call this a PEBKAC moment, but I still think Apple's approach to dealing with this stuff is more confusing than it should be.
I downloaded FileSalvage and ran it in trial mode. It seems like a decent piece of software, and was able to find about 20,000 jpegs in five hours or so, with the default settings; but I thought the price was a bit steep, so I decided to give PhotoRec a try before paying up.
It ran for something like 18 hours, but when it finished, I had about 76,000 jpegs recovered. Of course, the vast majority of those are cached images of web pages, iPhone screenshots (for the animation effects, presumably), etc. The only downside of using PhotoRec is that it doesn't seem to recognize .cr2–files; I checked the .crw–box, hoping that would cover it, but apparently not. Almost all of the images I lost were jpegs anyway, though, so in my case it's no big deal. I highly recommend it.
Now I just have to reorganize about a thousand images hidden among 75,000 others, all with anonymous file names. Fortunately, the Finder search options (such as Pixel width & height, Created date, Device make, etc.) greatly simplify this task.
If anyone's using an *online backup service* they're happy with, I'd be interested to hear about it. I know a bunch of names (Carbonite, Mozy, JungleDisk, BackBlaze, iDrive…), but I haven't used any of them. I'm curious as to how much they would affect the performance of my computer and network bandwidth.
    Thanks,
    Anders

Map dosen't work properly and CALENDER  has problem , after type events to some dates , suddenly disappear , it dosen't save.

  • Phone numbers in contact list disappeared after last SW-Update

    Hi,
everything worked fine until this week. My contacts were synchronized with outlook exchange. I got all contact phone & email details.
Now, I see only email addresses of my contacts. Forcing manual synchronization don't help. It seems that the synchronization works fine but there are still no phone numbers available. A mobile phone without stored phone number is a nightmare!
    Can somebody help me?

  • Contacts STILL disappearing after complete clean install of everything

OK, keep a long story short: Old Snow Leopard server + Lion or newer clients resulted in users with network home folders having their contacts deleted over and over and over. There have been a few thread concerning this, and I've gone through hours and hours of troubleshooting from those threads, but nothing resulted in a solution that worked for more than a few hours.
Now, this year, our school has a completely fresh Mavericks server install on all new hardware. This server is setup to run ONLY File Sharing and Open Directory for networked home folders. We just point each client machine at the Server's IP address on the LAN and bind it to the server as usual. That's all we need and all we want. No other service is running on the server, and never has been. Clients are running Mountain Lion for the most part. Users are completely setup from scratch this year, only Documents, Desktop items etc. have been moved. Nothing from Library folder, just basic files. Local accounts on the bound computers work fine, it's only the accounts (network home folders) which reside on the Server that fail in this way.
So this is about the most basic networking setup imaginable, and yet *bam* many, many hours into setting up the users and what happens but the freaking contacts start getting deleted again. How can this be happening? What could possibly be wrong? The users are NOT setup to sync contacts to ANY service, period. It's just each user and their own contacts for now. The Contacts app should just be saving contacts to the users's own home folder, leaving them there, and then opening them again. But it isn't; it's deleting them, over and over and over. We wanted to keep it as simple as possible due to the nightmare regarding the Address Book server we used to run on the old Xserve. We have done absolutely nothing strange in our installation; just installed the server and turned on the only two services we need.
This has just GOT to be some simple little setting somewhere, so any help would be greatly appreciated. (BTW, I did go into Directory Utility on a couple client machines and noticed that in the search path for Contacts it was pointed to default to a Local directory, and then to look for an LDAPv3 directory service. Removing the reference to the LDAPv3 server and restarting the client machine did nothing; the problem occurs just the same either way.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • My iPad contacts disappeared after adding a contact

My IPad 2 contacts just disappeared after adding a contact. What will I do aside from syncing? Are there any other solutions?

Upon purchase of my iPad 2 I began saving contacts to my IPad Contacts application that is already set up upon purchase of iPad 2.   I then learnt about synching ( push ) my Gmail contacts to the Ipad 2 contacts 'exchange'.   I did this happily and was very pleased with the results however when synching the first time I chose not to delete my iPad 2 contacts I had began saving upon purchase.   This meant upon opening 'contacts' I had three choices 'iPad contacts', 'Exchange contacts' or 'All contacts'.   There is no way to save ipad contacts directly to the 'Exchange contacts' it has to be saved into a file or vcard and then imported in using e-mail or a PC.
A few days in to using push/exchange I also added calendar and notes to the push/exchange as I was happy with the contacts and e-mail.   I did notice some glitches since doing using push/exchange although I think it began when initially I began pushing contacts/mail there may be a slight chance that it began when I turned on calendar and notes facility to the push/exchange. The glitches that began meant sudden blinking during or after saving in calendar, contacts and notes.   Sometimes this would mean the item added was there but also sometimes it would mean that it was not.   Also double entries began arriving on both m iPad and in my Gmail Contacts online.   These were a mix of contacts that I had and had not not created or edited since acquiring my iPad 2 so the was no pattern or obvious reason.   They were all also a mix of contacts from different groups saved in my Gmail contacts.
Today suddenly whilst adding a contact the contacts blinked shut again.   I re-opened to see what had happened wondering if my contact had been saved or not however not only did what I add not get saved but all approx 500 contacts from both my iPad contacts and my Exchange Contacts vanished from my iPad 2.   I opened and closed the contacts to see if they would return but there was nothing.   I also hibernated and then later shut down and restarted the iPad many times to no avail.   I checked my Gmail Contacts account and thankfully all my contacts were still there.   However, it was still extremely frustrating to have everything vanish from my iPad and then not just come back from there especially as he e-mails and calendar seemed to be still working fine with Exhange/push.   Also, why had the contacts saved to the IPad contacts directly vanished also ?!!   For a £800 gadget not including accessories it really is unacceptable !!!
Finally what worked for me was going to 'Settings', then going to 'mail, contacts, calendars' and then selecting the 'exchange' account and then switching 'contacts' to 'off', then I selected 'delete' iPad contacts i.e delete the contacts saved in the iPad contacts group however with nothing there to lose this time and having a feeling that perhaps that may have contributed to the issues/glitches and this contacts vanishing I clicked on the 'delete'.   I really do have a feeling that perhaps the issues may have been due to having two sets of contacts even though there were only a few there in the iPad before they vanished along with the Exchange contacts.   I clicked 'done' and then I didn't hibernate the iPad 2 instead I shut it completely down.
Upon restarting my iPad 2 I went to see if the contacts had returned but unfortunately once again they had not.   I returned to 'settings', then 'mail, contacts, calendars' and then selected 'exchange' from accounts and switched 'contacts' back on i.e enabled this once again and clicked done.   I then once again switched off ( shut down ) my iPad 2 and waited a while.   Upon restarting I again went back to contacts and found some of my contacts finally arrive but not all.   My 'push/'fetch' for exchange is set to every 15 minutes and every push/fetch showed me more and more contacts until finally I had all but one which has still not showed up !   However, I am once again happy and this time I only have one contacts group I.e for exchange and no separate iPad contacts to confuse me or iPad.   I don't know if this will mean all will be okay now as I do feel like perhaps I cannot now trust iPad contacts and maybe need to print out everything and keep this on me also just in case. I'll keep you posted !

  • My contacts keep disappearing

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 7 (I have an iphone 4s) my contacts will disappear every so often.   The first time they disappeared was of course when I upgradd to 7.  Apple, how hard is it to keep the contacts and retore them after an OS upgrade?   And now, my contacts seem to disappear every week, with NO input or change instructed by me.  I have just reclaimed my contacts tonight after what is perhaps the 4th time they have disappeared, by going to settings/contacts, email, and selecting download SIM contacts.   Come on Apple!   This is stupid!

I have the same issue on my 4S and they disappear randomly. I have tried to hard reset with the home and sleep button and that does not work. Restoring is the only way it works but I dont have my MAC all the time and I do not use icloud. Is there is any solution to this? my warranty is over and there is not clear solution to this other than taking it into APPLE to complain but it is no longer under the 1 year warranty.... ***** help..
This started only when i upgraded to iOS7. Not cool Apple....:-/

  • All newly installed apps disappear after the installation is done?

My problem started a few days ago. I install a new app from the app store and it shows up as loading on the home screen. As soon as the installation is done the icon simply disappears. Finder cannot locate it and the store shows the OPEN button, but it does nothing when pressed.I tried settings/general/usage/storage and the missing apps are there but the name of the missing apps does not show. I only see the icon and the size. I can delete the apps from there but reinstalling them does not help.

Unfortunately that did not help. It seems that there is a limit on the number of apps that can be shown on the home screen. I have close to 200 apps installed, and they are organized in folders on the home screen (3 pages). I must have hit the limit for apps in the home screen. I can install new apps, but they will not show up. If i delete one of the old apps then install a new one it will show on the home screen. I believe when the count gets to 189 then the next one (#190) will disappear after installation.

  • Contacts list cleared after recharging

All my contact info disappeared after recharging the iPhone. Everything is gone and now I have 0 contacts. I have no idea what happened. Does anyone know? Has anyone else experienced this?

It has happened to me several times this week -- but it has nothing to do with recharging. I'll be using the iPhone normally, including a phone call, then go into Contacts and they're all gone. Once, I got a "No SIM card" message and so I removed the SIM card and reinserted it; the Contacts came back. But I got the SIM card replaced a few days ago yet I lost the Contacts again last night (with no SIM card error message) but they came back a minute later. I spoke to Apple support who suggested that it had something to do with losing the cell signal (because I sync my Contacts via MobileMe) but last night when I lost the Contacts I did not lose the signal. So I don't know what's really causing it.

  • ICloud Contact Info Disappears

I have a very strange issue.
On occasion Contacts will disappear in a random fashion.
When the Contact is a Favorite, the phone number will remain in the Favorite list, but the name has disappeared.
This does not happen with every Contact, nor do I detect any pattern about the Contacts involved.

Lowell, I just spoke with Apple Support.  On your phone, go to Contacts.  From Contacts click on groups in the upper left hand corner.  If "show all contacts" is on, select it to change it to "hide all contacts".  Worked like a charm for me.
