Contacts won't save in my iPad....... Help!

The done button doesn't do anything, so I have to click on cancel and the info is not saved... Any hints?

I'd suggest trying a reset. Hold the Home and Power buttons down simultaneously until you see the apple logo.

Not really sure where this question should go, since it crosses 3 topic areas. Neither my contacts nor my calendar will sync from iMac (mountain lion) to iPad 3 (ios6). I've tried a byzantine series of fixes - mostly involving backing up each, turning off cloud syncing, turning it back on, with lots of little steps in between (I'd be more detailed, but I gave up for several weeks and don't really remember them). Is this a real issue, or am I missing something simple? It's extremely frustrating to have what is advertised as basic functionality not work even a little bit. Especially when 3rd party apps sync just fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Never mind... It was indeed something simple that I missed (my icloud account was attached to an apple ID I didn't even know existed -- created for me?? ... fixed it - settings, icloud, sign out, signed back in as my actual apple ID).

Group in contacts won't fill in on iPad

I have this group of people I write to all the time. I have them together in my contacts so when I enter the code word all of their names get entered into the mail address on my iMac. I show that group in contacts on my iPad but the names don't get filled in on my iPad when I enter the code word. What do I have to do? I have IOS 7.

I have the solution for this, so please full attention here to get it correctly. I found the steps from the iOS 6 manual.
Link a contact: Edit a contact, tap Edit, then tap and choose the contact entry to link to.
Linked contacts aren’t merged. If you change or add information in a unified contact, the
changes are copied to each source account where that information already exists.
If you link contacts with different first or last names, the names on the individual cards won’t
change, but only one name appears on the unified card. To choose which name appears when
you view the unified card, tap the linked card with the name you prefer, then tap Use This Name
For Unified Card.
View contact information from a source account: Tap one of the source accounts.
Unlink a contact: Tap Edit, tap , then tap Unlink
First Step: Edit contacts
Second Step: Scroll down & Click + symbol
Third Step: Click linked contacts (choose your contact that you want to be linked if the contact you are in)
Fourth Step: Click done
Fifth Step: Go to LINKED CONTACTS
Sixth Step: Choose your prefer name ex. Facebook: Taylor Rocker
                                                                    iCould: Taylor Swift
Seven Step: EXAMPLE: I choose iCould to be my prefer name.
                     Click on iCould: Taylor Swift
                    There will be a new button appear which is "Use This Name For Unified Card"
                     FYI: IF FACEBOOK NAME AND ICOULD NAME ARE THE SAME OR A BIT DIFFERENT, YOU CANNOT CHOOSE WHICH NAME YOU WANT TO BE APPEAR.

Can't sync contacts or photos from iPhone to iPad, help!

Can someone help? I just upgraded my friends iTunes and then showed her how to sync the two (she's 70). Trouble is her contact and photos from her phone didn't transfer to her iPad. Wi-if is turned on. I made her an iCloud account and that's turned on, what am I missing?

Use the same iCloud account on the iPhone and the iPad.
The info will sync iPhone <> iCloud <> iPad.
Go to Settings > iCloud and enable everything (Contacts, Calendars, etc.)

ITunes 7 won't save my settings - Please Help!!!

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and every time I open it, it takes me to the 'iTunes Setup Assistant' and it deletes all of my settings whenever I close and re-open it. What's going on?!

it's possible that this is being caused by damaged itunes preference files. perhaps try the techniques in this user tip to see if they work with that:

In messages I click an unsaved number to add to contacts. After I enter their name and back out to view all my messages the contact I entered before deletes or after a couple of minutes the number I just saved deletes. VERY ANNOYING.. and it has all been messing up since I turned on iCloud. As soon as i turned on iCloud. BAM like 30 - 40 on my contacts deleted. So fed up with apple...They need to make syncing information on the iPhone sync to the mac instead of if you have new contacts/music/info on your phone and you go to sync with your mac it deletes it all... I wish i knew this about Apple before i slipped in their slippery slope of a money pit.

I'd deleted the contact that had been behaving naughty and created a new one- i then pasted the
correct info into that contact form a textedit file. It seems to be sving changes now.
I did also recheckaccounts and noticed one infrequently used exchange acct
had grabbed the contacts checkbox (though i never sync with thos contact).
So- it might have been either thing that fixed it- more testsing tomorrow....

perfect. ok do the following:
settings > mail, contacts, calendars > go into the exchange account. You should have an email in the account field...[email protected] or [email protected], etc.... I am assuming you don't remember the password to this exchange account so once you know the email, you can go to email providers site and click on forgot password and you will go through the steps to get a new password. Once you do this, you will need to go back into your "exchange account " and the field that has the exchange email > touch the > to open settings. Change the password to your new password you got from above. Once you do this, you can add the exchange account to your ipad and all of your contacts will sync to both devices.
Please confirm.

Adjusting the date or time didn't do anything for me either. I'm guessing my two options are to either do the full restore from scratch and not apply any backup ... Or possibly wait for an iOS update that might resolve this issue.
I'm not that much of an avid twitter user that I need it implemented natively in all my devices - so for now I'll probably value all my game save data, internal settings in apps e.t.c. over that functionality (or over the amount of work it would be to get me back to where I am now after a full wipe). I'll see what happens after the next iOS delta update. I'll reevaluate the full wipe after that if the issue hasn't been resolved

You should really read the manual.

Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

Just for information in case helps anyone else, I have now accessed the back-up, I tried a different password from memory but it is not the normal iTunes password I use - which is what you'd expect them to be after. Now I don't know how to get the app collection back onto the screen, they aren't opening. Wish I never had upgraded...

Make sure that you know the network name and password.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

For the update to run Aperture must be installed in the system Application folder and named simply Aperture, not Aperture3.2.2 or anything else.
I don't know if this would also affect photo stream but if your Aperture is misnamed or installed in an incorrect location fixing that to see if it clears up the problem would be a good first step.

I take it that it is through Wiindows Explorer you are able to track the iPad as an external device?
Disconnect your iPad and try a Reset - hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 15 seconds.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC.
Also, try a different USB port on your PC, a few times if necessary.

What id shows in Settings > iTunes & App Store ? If it's the old one then tap on it and log out of it and then log in with the updated version
