Container Elements - Inherited elements may not be deleted

Hi,
I have created a Adhoc Agent container element and when I tried to delete this, it gives the message "Inherited elements may not be deleted" and does not allow me to delete.
Could anybody please shed some light on this. I have tried all possible ways by changing the container element but in vein.

I ma just guessing it have you used this in some existing step which may be having this as mandatory parameters or are you using the Business object somewhere in the wflow. This is a wild guess.
Just do a syntax check of your Wflow template U will find some hint may be this are defined as read only or something linke this.

I have created some workflow container element and now I am not using those variable and i wanted to delete those variables. When I try to delete those variables, the system gives me error
"Inherited elements may not be deleted".
My workflow is running fine without any error.
But I wanted to delete the unnecessary variables. please let me know how can I do that.

I think you have to delete this variable from the function or methods to the workflow containers. In this sequence.

Workflow issue - Main workflow container elements are not updated.

Hi All
We have implemented N-step badi for approval process and for this we have activated one workflow which contains subworkflow .
During approval process , only the subworkflow container elements( approver list and last approver) getting updated with status and time.But main workflow container elements is not updating with these details.
Binding between main workflow and subworkflow is perfect. But reverse binding ( from subworkflow -> main workflow ) will take place once subworkflow is completely finished. But here we will require / need to pass some information from sub workkflow to main workflow when still subworlflow in process( before completed itself).
Please let me know is there any process / steps is required to pass values between subworkflow to main workflow ( binding is perfect).
Please let me the way how I can update the main workflow container from subworkflow container or from any step in sub workflow .
In subworkflow . we have loop of approvers and it will send workitems to approvers one by one.
Here i need to update Main workflow with the information like last approver and approver list with status and approved time.
So please suggest how Can I update main workflow container from subworkflow while subworkflow is still in process( subworkflow not yet completed).

Yes I am setting SWC_SET_ELEMENT for my container values,the ones for which i have defined as EXPORT.
And I have checked the task also...
Everything has been checked properly..The binding is fine.

Container element is not being displayed in email

Hi Experts,
I inserted an element from container into email text as below
The task has been pending in inbox for more than &ins_num& days.
The value of &ins_num& in container is 9
In output I get
The task has been pending in inbox for more than days.
Please let me know what is wrong. The binding works fine. No error in workflow.

Check on the Following things:->
1> The Container Element has Initial Value defined, If Yes - it should symbolise in Green Colour.
If 'Not', then check the WF Log and see whether this Container Element is fetching the Values orr not.
2> If the Values are not being Fetched, then the Problem lies with the Binding of these WF Containers.
Let me know if you are still facing Issues.

Multiline table container element does not display the contents

Hi Guys,
I am sending an email from the workflow. The workflow has few steps and in one of the steps the the workflow brings in few lines of text. This text is then stored in a multiline container element in the workflow.
later in the workflow i am sending an email and this sendmail step is using the multiline containter. So in the body of the email i have used the container as shown below
Your expense for the trip &TRIPEXP.TRIPNUMBER& has been rejected.
The Reason for rejection(s) mentioned below:
&CATSXT_LONGTEXT_ITAB##&
Please change and submit again.
However when i recieve the email i dont see any text. But when i look at the workflow log and check the contents of this table under the workflow container elements it has the data in it.
Not sure where i am going wrong. I have checked the bindings and they are fine.

Yes that was the missing link.
One question:
When i use sendmail step and use the variable drop down box i can see the workflow container elements. So why do i need the same container element in the sendmail setp? I just now created same element in the sendmail task. When i am able to access the workflow container elements in the send mail step then why there is a need to create a same container element in the send mail step and then do the binding for it to work?

Workflow: Delete container elements

Hi All.
I was modifying a workflow made by someone else.
I tried to delete unused Workflow container elements.
But got the following message:
"Inherited Elements may not be deleted".
What does that mean, and how do I delete these unwanted elements?

This is the right forum. I have never come across nor did I hear of this message before. If the workflow being modified is already in Production, my advice is to make sure these elements were not used by any versions of the Workflow in production that may still be in process. That said please clarify if the WF Syntax Check point out the elements you are trying to delete as unused?
If you have not already done it, I suggest you take a look at OSS Note #125400 - Modifying a productive Workflow.

Are you sure you are trying to delete WF conatiner elements using either the Workflow Builder (SWDD) or the template editor (PFTC)? Looks like the message you are getting is from the Object Type editor (SWO1). If you are trying to delete attributes of a BO sub type, the message is self explanatory. Your sub type inherits the attributes of the original object type - a standard SAP object. You can only delete the attributes that have been defined for the sub type. Be absolutely certain before you delete any attribute, that it has never been used in Production Environment.

Worflow container elements not populating

Hi,
I am using a simple method and populating certain parameters of the method. in stand alone from swo1 the method populates the container element. This method is then called from a task in workflow.
The problem I face is that the workflow container elements are not populated, although the container elements at the task level are populated corectly in the workflow log. Even If I am binding a hardcoded value at the task to workflow binding level, the workflow container elements is not getting correct values; when I check the log and hence the workflow goes in error.
I would like to know why the workflow container elements not getting filled with right values. I have done many workflows before but never faced such an issue before.

Hi,
I have checked the binding and workflow is activated again.
Also buffering was done in SWU_OBUF.
I also tried to run the workflow from SWDD itself and still the same problem. This is very strange. Never before i encountered such an error.
Kindly suggest. I also tried to create a new task and change the names of container variables in workflow. The strangest thing is the hardcoding of value also not being passed.
Types of parameters match and import export set accordingly.

Help with container element

Hi experts,
I am creating a WF to escalate a WI to the next level of approver after a deadline is expired.
So therefore I wish to create a container element that will store the value of the result of the 1st agent.
To do this I created a container u2018agent1u2019u2013 selected ABAP dict reference u2013 for structure I selected WFSYST u2013 for field I chose u2018resultu2019.
Then in the binding I chose rule 168 u2013 next binded u2018agent1u2019 to u2018org_objectu2019, but the container element is not storing the value of the result of the 1st agent.
I then tried to change field to u2018agentu2019 but this does not work either.
Can anyone tell me if I have to choose a different structure or field or should I be binding to something different?

Thank you very much for helping me so far, but I am still struggling with the binding to find the next level agent.
This is what I have done so far.
In the first step (0004) I have set the binding as follows:
In the top box I have left it as - &_WF_INITIATOR& to &ORG_OBJECT&
And in the bottom box below - &AGENT1& to &_RULE_RESULT.AGENTS&
Then in processing obsolete step where I want it to find the superior of the agent from step one I have set the binding as follows
Top box - &AGENT1& to &ORG_OBJECT&
Bottom box u2013 blank
The u2018agent1u2019 is the wf container is of type WFSYST-AGENT
it is still not finding the next level of approver
Any help would be much appreciated

Clear container element

Hello guys,
I need to clear one container element of one workitem.
It's possible through SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER or SWW_WI_CONTAINER_MODIFY?
The function SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER only insert one value in container element, but not clear.
Any idea?

Hello Imthiaz and Martin,
I have one program that run after the user click in "OK" button in "Work item display tab page" (in "Work item display tab page" you can customize the work item display with an additional tab page).
The user can change any parameters, and after click in "OK" button, one container element must be clear and should receive new data.

Dear all,
I am trying to define expression for recipient type
it gives me error
container element 'ADDRESSSTRINGS' does not exists
container element 'EXPRESS' does not exists
container element 'TYPEID' does not exists
Can you please share the technical detail of these parameters
or is there some other problem

Hi Gaurav,
These are the standard task container's for the send mail step type.
No need create these container's and already they are available in the Task container.
Have you used the standard task to send the mail? If so just double click the Task ID and you can find these container's under the Container Tab.
Just delete the send mail step and create a new one. It will solve the issue.

Yes, you can download it to another machine if you need to and should never have to purchase the same version more than once. Your license allows you to have it installed and activated on two machines. If you get a new machine before the first one breaks you can deactivate it on the old one just to have the extra activation still available.

BPM error:Container element in step transformation is not initialized

Hello Experts,
I am new to the concept of BPM.
I'm trying to create an integration process in which I'm taking an Idoc and processing it in many ways. The process contains many transformation steps. There two such transformation steps which have been placed in block step in a fork. And i get this error: Container element XXX in step transformation is not initialized
What could be the problem?

if u are getting the messaga with red sigh then it means it will craete the error while running the scenario.
but if it is in blue then i think it will not create any error.
the meaning of that statement is that the container u have defind is not used anywhere. it is just giving u a warning message.

BPM Alert Container Elements Not Filled

Hi All,
Another problem i am facing when i am raising alert from BPM.
In inbox i see alert message being raised but with no text.
I have also subscribed to email alerts.
In the email the subject is Process 000000008058
and the content is the first alphabet of the AlertMessage container element.
Ex : In BPM my container element is AlertMessage and the message assigned is Error . Then in email message i only get E. where as in alert inbox i get nothing.
ps : im using XI 7.0 SP 9. there are no notes which are applicable for this release.

the container tab is available but the Long& Short text tab is disabled.
I did not mean that..
What i meant was see next to the Properties tab in Alert Category defination there is a Container tab where we define our own container elements.
Do i need to define the names there..or i can directly use in the BPM?

Output of multiline container element in email not working

I'm trying to display a multiline container element in an e-mail from workflow. The element container contains 2 lines. I can see these have been populated in the log in SWIA. However, when using &ITAB##& to output these lines nothing is diplayed. I've also tried &ITAB[]& and &ITAB& all of which return no lines in the e-mail.
Does anyone know if this is something I'm doing wrong or is there an error in R/3. I'm on release 4.6c.

This is getting annoying. This was sednging e-mails and printing the table in the e-mail fine. Then I had to add more fields to the table ITAB. After this the table wasn't showing again in the e-mail. I recreated the workflow, tasks and even the BOM, but still nothing.
As before I can see the ITAB entries in the details of the e-mail task. But, they don't get written into the e-mail even though I'm selecting &ITAB##& from the Expressions section to put into the e-mail.
Is there anything I haven't tried. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is this a SAP problem that can be fixed with a note. I've had a look, but can't find anything about it.

Container element value does not display

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue.
There is one step in my custom workflow which sends sap mail. The subject of the e-mail has a container element &notif&. When I check the workflow log this container element gets set with a value just before this step and so I expect it to be displayed in the e-mail .
But the issue is i am getting the mail in my inbox which says ....&notif& ......
i.e Instead of displaying the value of this container it displays the text &notif&.
The same container element is used in the same e-mail message body where it displays correctly.
has anyone faced this kind of an issue before?

Yes it is set to Expression.
This mail step was not created from scratch.
I just changed a few texts in the subject of this Mail step in an already existing workflow without touching the container element in the subject. But after i did this change and tested teh workflow, the container element no longer displayed any value in the subject, but it does continue to show value in the message body.
Any suggestions to solve towards this issue will be extremely helpful.
