Contains no openable non-generated files?

My computer shut down when my office lost power, when I got up and running again I saw that my FM file names now had ‘recover’ at the end. So I renamed each one only eliminating the recover part. However when I tried to update the book I got “couldn't update this book because it contains no openable nongenerated files”. Please advise when you have a chance. I am using FM10.

@msrinivas12 It sounds like you have error messages when you are opening your files. Since you mention the FM10 to FM11 transition, are you getting alerts about opening FM 10 files in FM 11?
What happens if you open all files in book, then do the Print function?
It's likely that you are either suppressing the Alerts, or that you're used to seeing alerts related to missing/unavailable resources. When FM sees these missing pieces, it halts the print process.

My application developed using struts 1.3 have an option to upload and download any kind of files.
The uploaded files shall be displayed as hyperlinks in the HTML page. On click of a hyperlink, a servlet shall be called and the corresponding file shall be opened as an attachment. But i am facing problem in opening the files.
The problem is,
Whenever i try to open a file of type (.doc or .xls or .pdf) the browser(*IE 6*) does not identify the content type. So it opens the content in a browser as binary content. But it works perfectly in IE 7 and firefox. (I used mim.types file to fetch the content type dynamically based on the file chosen)
However, the code i used to open a .doc file is,
response.setContentType("application/msword");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename="+content.getFileName());
response.setContentLength(content.getStream().size());

content - is a TO which shall hold the fileName and ByteArrayOutputStream ,etc.

Book update error : Non generated file

Wehave been using Adobe Frame maker 7 for a while.
We just bought a new license, Adobe Frame maker 10.
We initially work with .mif file, in order for all users to be able to work on shared files. Unfortunately, using the same way as we are doing on 7.0 version, we didn’t manage to create TDM file and to update the book properly.
So we tried the same process with .fm files (version 10), but still, we didn’t manage to create TDM file and the following window appear :
Could you please help us with this ?

Looks like it's choking on the files that make up the book - try opening all the files first and resave them; then try updating the book.

How to open non-RAW file in RAW Converter

I'm unable to open a non-RAW (i.e. jpg) file in the RAW Converter in either Organizer or Editor, using instructions in Brundage book.
Would appreciate a suggested procedure.

Your suggestion to try another file resolved the Converter issue. I found that I can open any jpg or tif file in any album that appears in the
Windows Explorer. So the problem was not with the RAW Converter. Instead, I found another problem. The ENTIRE Album
containing the file I had been trying to open is missing from the Windows Explorer (and I cannot open the file from the Album
showing in the Organizer -- while I'm in the Editor!).
So -- can you give me any help with this new problem of an Album that shows in the Organizer but not the Windows Explorer?

Possible to add non-movie files in Encore?

I am interested in making a menus dvd, but which besides
normal movies files, contains an ebook probably in pdf. Ideally a menu icon in the dvd would open the pdf, but simply having the file present on the disc is better than nothing. Can this be done in Encore, and if so, how?
I've run some searches but maybe am not using good search terms and come up empty. Proper search term suggestions would also be welcome. Thanks

Actually opening non-movie files in a DVD player is not part of the DVD specification... a DVD player is not a computer... so this does not work
As mentioned, you may add a folder to the ROM content... and then make an entry in your video (such as a menu that is only a title) telling the user to take the disc to a computer to access the files

How to open non-HTML fiiles in the web browser???

Hi.. My project requires that I should be able to open all the non-HTML or HTML files in the web browser itself. Ex. If there is some pdf file or doc file or any other file it should open in the browser itself. If the appropriate plug-ins are not there then it should first ask to download those plug-ins and then after downloading it the file should open in the browser.
I would be grateful if anyone can help me out. If there is some link or something like that then please let me know.

you can open non-HTML files in the browser... when the file is sent from the server side you have to set the content type to match the content type of the file you are sending..
for example, if you are sending a pdf file.. you have to set the content type as : application/pdf
Another example: If you are sending a word doc use: application/msword

Open a new File() by Script and set File Type to PDF fails...

Dear all
I'm creating a script to download pdf Files from a server and place them into an Indesign Document. Everything works fine except Indesign does not recocnize the file Type when attempting to place the pdf and throws an error that the downloaded PDF File can not be placed due to unknown Filter.
This is because File type apparently is set to TEXT (Creator is CARO) event though I write the file with
myFile.open('w',"PDF","CARO");
Any Idea how to
- get Indesign set the FileType of a newly generated File to PDF
or
- Change the File Type afterwards
or
- tell Indesign what filter to use when placing this File?

but I already had the encoding set to binary, that does not seem to be the problem. I can open the generated File with Acrobat, that works, only Indesign can not place it....

Generated file combining LOF and LOR

Sorry if this is something I should have been able to work out for myself – it would be really handy to generate a document that shows me figure captions (a LOF including :figcap styles) and a list of graphics (a LOR including imported graphics)
The aim is to have a single list I can hand over to people who need to know which file (or files) is referenced for each illustration. I've managed to make one with copy/paste, a text editor and a spreadsheet, but was wondering whether there might be a niftier solution.

You could generate a LOP that is built from just the paragraphs used in the LOF and LOR .
It turns that this actually works, with a couple of caveats:
Frame doesn't list the generated paragraph types, from generated files, in the LOP setup dialog. You need to add the generated para names (such as Heading1TOC or Level1IX) to the Para Catalog of a non-generated file.
You probably have to run Update Book twice to capture in the LOP any changes to the other generated files.

I need help with an error message “couldn't update this book because it contains no openable nongenerated files” when trying to create a book in Framemaker 12. Not sure what is happening but I am a new framemaker user so it could be operator error.

A book is a set of links to for a) .fm files you've written yourself; b) files FrameMaker has helpfully generated for you. In my installation, the two sorts of content are differentiated by the colour of the icon; as you get used to FM, you'll also recognise the three-letter suffixes such as TOC.
My usual workflow is to write a few .fm files, then set up the .book file I want to include these chapters in: if you start a project with New > Book and then click on Update, you'll get the message you describe. Until you have populated the .book with some links to your own .fm files, FM has no way of knowing what you want to include in the generated files.

How to delete the Generated files from application server(open hub)?

when i try to execute process chain the DTP it is giving below dump. Exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED logged.
when i execute the DTP manually and trying to delete the previous request, it is giving for dump ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY.
so to delete the generated file from application server, how to delete it for specific dates?

Termination occurred in the ABAP program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM" - in

The main program was "RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 2874
of the (Include) program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM".
The program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM" was started as a background job.
and when i check the dump it is point out at below code

When trying to build an application using labview 7.1 and windows XP, I get the error

I've tried the crtl-shift-run as well as a mass compile and I still get the error.

I bought and installed many fonts for a project and one font in particular which is showing up in the font list on a new file, is missing when I open an existing file containing that font. I can't understand why that's happening and the font is Centrale S

I am encountering a missing font error on Adobe Illustrator for a font that I recently bought - Centrale Sans Bold. This font is clearly installed in the system's font folder and is also showing in the font list on Adobe Illustrator. But when I open an existing file containing this font it is giving the error "The document uses fonts or characters which are not available or are in a different format than originally specified".
We have also bought Centrale Sans regular from a different website as we couldn't find both on one, could that be clashing somehow?
Also the existing file was created on MAC plattform and we are using a windows plattform to open it. That to me doesn't seem like an issue as all other files are opening up fine and I have bought around 47 fonts and only this font seems to be not working. I have also written to the website I bought it from but I have also bought around 20-25 fonts from them and all the other fonts are working fine too. Maybe its an illustrator related problem?

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).

Problem with opening of PDF file, generated through smartform

Recently, I have developed a new program where, the output of smartform will generate a PDF file, and then that PDF file will be mailed to concern persons,
I have sucessuly done this in development server, and further testing I have transported this to Quality, in Quality i am able to generated a pdf file and able to send it to mail box of concern person, but when concern person tries to open the PDF file, it gives the error stating 'There was an error in opening the document, The file is damaged and could not be repaired'
But same, I can able to read from development server.
When I asked the Basis person, they are not aware about it, and , I have make it sure that, I have transported all request to Quality and nothing is pending in development.
Can you please give me some idea to sort out this issue.
