Content Administrator Problem

I am trying to enter to the Content Administrator and after I put the login data and click in Login button I get the following message:
503   Service Unavailable
Dispatcher running, but no server connected!
Details: No details available
What can be the problem?

Hi Ruben,
The server is not started. Check the "SAP management console" for all the nodes to become GREEN color and then try.
If you check the "Process Table" all the 3 services (dispatcher, server0 and SDM) should be running and in GREEN color.

500 Internal Server Error - Web Dynpro Content Administrator
Any help would be really appreciated...
I was trying to create/Maintain JCo destions on Web Dynpro Content Administrator caught up with the 500 Internal Server Error
    Error Summary
While processing the current request, an exception occured which could not be handled by the application or the framework.
If the information contained on this page doesn't help you to find and correct the cause of the problem, please contact your system administrator. To facilitate analysis of the problem, keep a copy of this error page. Hint: Most browsers allow to select all content, copy it and then paste it into an empty document (e.g. email or simple text file).
For further information about the Web Dynpro error page, error analysis and a description of well-known error situations, see SAP note 1113811.
    Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    Possible Reasons:
    1. Some fields for the backend system used to setup the JCO destination are not updated properly (i.e.
    empty) in SLD.
    2. Ensure that the SLD is setup properly. Click on the u201CTest Connectionu201D to check that the SLD is up and running.

  • New JCo names are not listing in WB Content Administrator

    Dear Friends,
I have deployed my WebDynpro application on a landscape where the production system got 4 server services running.
Initially the WD application was using the existing JCo connections.  But on the latest deploy I have to use new JCo connections and I made changes.
Problem is, these new JCo connection names are not appearing in WebDynpro Content Administrator and still it displays old JCo connections.
This problem exists with global WD Content Admin. URL as well as with individual server url, except in one server instance where JCos yet to be created.
But when I execute the application with global URL, it is working fine.
Intent is to create and use my new JCo connections for the application which are not listing in WB Content Admin.
Is it require to restart the server services?
Is it possible to solve this problem without restarting the services?
Is there any other way to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lakshmikantha

Sorry I can't approach to restart the j2ee service at this movement.
And the application got new JCo name at it's JCO refrences.
Infact the application is working fine with new JCos on development and quality systems.
Problem exists only on production system where it got 4 server instances.
    Any hope without restarting services?

  • Folder Structure Not Visible under Content Administration

    Hi all,
We have EP 6.0 SP13.The Folder structure(Both Business objects and Portal Content) under Content Administration and Folder structure under System Administration is not visible.I have logged in as Administrator and the roles assigned were:
    com.sap.pct.crm.crm_default_services
    Administrator
    ContentManager
    eu_role
    super_admin_role
When i'm trying to access the portal content,<b>Loading...</b>is dispalyed in Content Area for a while and a message <b>'error occured'</b> is displayed in the status bar instead of <b>'Done'</b>.
I'm also having a problem in Detailed Navigation.Nothing is visible under Detailed Navigation.
Any Inputs on the above issues would be of great Help.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi,
There could be only 2 problems when PCD objects are not being shown.
    1) You don't have the permission to view it. But since you are an administrator, you don't have to worry about it.
    2) The browser is unable to show the PCD objects.
Now lets look at the solution:
I had faced the same issues where when I tried to access the portal using IP address, PCD objects will not show. So the solution is to access the portal through its "name" rather than the IP address.
I guess you would have tried to access the portal by its name, then you had faced an error in browser and so you are trying to access the portal by IP address.
if this is true, make an entry in the hosts file in your local machine, mapping the IP address to the domain name.
If you dont know how to do it, please follow the following:
Goto the following folder in windows
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
You will find a file named hosts. Open it in notepad and give the IP address & domain name of the portal in the format specified there. Save the file. Now if you access the portal using its domain name, you should be able to see the PCD. If you are still not getting it, restart the machine and try once more. It should work.
If you are using a Linux system, the file can be found under the \etc under the root folder.

    Vijai.

    Help……

    Hi, James.
If you add the main "Learning Administrator" role (UMX|OTA_LRNG_ADMIN), it will include all child roles for the Administrator, including the Learning Content Administrator, Learning Catalog Administrator, Learning Enrollment Administrator, Learning Finance Administrator, Learning Resource Administrator, and Learning Setup Administrator. If you don't have all of these roles, there are functions you will not have access to under the Learning Administrator responsibilities.
The "Learning Instructor - Update" role only allows users that have the Learning Instructor Self-Service responsibility to update enrollment statuses for Learners that have attended classes that they are set as a resource for and won't impact the Administrator functionality.

  • Browse/Capture on Content Administration/Portal Content -EP6

We're having problems trying to capture live (external) internet content from the portal when we create
    URL iViews.
In EP5 the tool used to be called iView catcher and it allows you to get a portion of content from the web like a table (stock/weather). This functionality is not working in the portal and I am not sure if this is due to the privacy/partnership issues, but at the same rate, i see the functionality exists on EP 6.0 via
Content Administration/Portal Content. Right click on the folder and select New -> iView and from the list of templates select URL iView, enter name and id on the next screen. On the following screen you can enter a URL and we tested www.bbc.co.uk and then press the Browse/Capture button and the pop up window is not able to access this website.
The website does not appear in the Browse tab but if you save it does work when previewing the iView (example is iView url_test). However we just want to capture a part of the website and under the Capture tab it just says 'null' instead of the website(url) appearing.
Is this a known problem with EP(SP7), and perhaps fixed with SP9?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    James

    Hi,
The iView catcher is available in EP6 start from SP9 and on (NW04).
If you select to create new iView - URL iView and then you choose browse / capture.
If it doesn't work well, you probably have problems with either proxy settings or your windows domain authentication.
    Good luck,
    Tuval

  • Profile keeps old property value after change in Content Administration

    Hello,
Inside of my coding I read a property value from profile:
              IPortalComponentRequest request = (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
              IPortalComponentProfile profile = request.getComponentContext().getProfile();
              String svalue = profile.getProperty("ProxySet");
Then I go to "Content Administration" and change a value from "true" to "false" in property "ProxySet", however it still shows me previous "true" value when I debug the code. I don't believe I have to restart entire portal to make this change work on one iView, right? Please advice!
    Thanks,
    Yan

    Hi Yan,
Well that's true that you need not restart the portal after the changes in the iView, but have you saved all the changes made in the iView properties. Please check it and ensure you save all the changes made in the iView properties.
I hope this helpful/solves your problem!!! If so then Please reward points..
    Rgds,
    Vikas.

  • URL to Content Administration

    Hi,
I was editing some properties for the TLN.
I set everything so that the tabs from the TLN would be displayed in DTN.
The problem now is that i don't see my TLN roles in the DTN which means i can't get back to the Content Administration to reset the values of TLN.
Does anyone know the URL to view the Content Administration? Or any other way to get my TLN back on the screen?
    Thanks,

    Hi
    Url is given below.
    http://server:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/administrator/super_admin/super_admin_role/com.sap.portal.content_administration/com.sap.portal.portal_content
You have to change the levels to display in the DLN to 1.

  • Delegated Content Administration

    Hi
what is the difference b/w the content admin and delegated content admin with examples.
    Regards
    suresh babu

Delegating administration is the process of "distributing" the administrative tasks and content in the portal to dedicated administrators. This decentralizing capability allows you to selectively assign the tools, tasks, and content in the portal to individual administrators, based on their area of responsibility. This solves the problem of exposing administrators to the portal’s entire set of administration tools and restricted company data, which is common in an environment where the tools and content are centralized and access cannot be controlled.
Delegating control and access over all portal components is made possible using the portal’s object-based model
Delegated administration enables you to do the following:
    ·        To customize the portal administration framework according to your business scenario.
    ·        To control the distribution and access of portal-related administrative tasks and content, thus reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) significantly. This is a key factor for any global enterprise.
    ·        To manage large-scale portal implementations.
    ·        To supervise the subsets of an organization’s portal, thus relieving administrative bottlenecks.
Content administration is for managing the following types of KM-related content:
    ·        Portal Content: iViews in which you access KM functions and other Portal Content Directory items
    ·        KM Content: Objects that are stored in KM repositories and tools for managing them
Delegated is a special type of content admistration with specific features
    Thanks
