Content Area & Folder URL's

I use to be able to link directly to a content area or folder area by using the Folder Properties to copy the URL. Now, when I try to use this method it always takes me to my home page? I have users that want to link directly to one of their folders in a content area. Any ideas?
Thanks,
AG

1 From the Navigator click on the required Content Area
2 Click on the properties sheet icon
3 Cut and paste the URL
4 Copy the URL into an email
5 Send the email
6 Click on the link from the email
7 The link does not go directly to the folder but the home page instead
This used to work but doesn't anymore, I've tried this in another 309 instance and it works OK.

  • Make content area Folder Names within Portlets non-linkable fields

    We would like to only allow the administrator to be allowed link to content areas so as to maintain a consistent look and feel and not allow the user to leave Portal.

    Thanks for the info, however, turning off the header region also
    eliminates the "customize" feature -- which is something I would
    like my users to have. Also, I think you may be mistaken (or
    maybe I wasn't clear) about the approval icon. It does NOT
    appear when a folder is rendered through a portlet, regardless
    of folder ownership. It only appears when a folder is rendered
    as a page.
    I am looking forward to the next release.
    p.s. I see the new find feature has been added since my last
    post.

  • Moving items in a Content Area/folder

    We're building a portal as a pilot project. I have a folder
    containing several url links that are currently sorted
    alphabetically. I want to specify the order, but I can't... they
    don't have the "move" icon showing. How do I turn this option
    on/off.
    Thanks!

    In the folder where this phenomenon is seen click on..
    Edit
    Folder Properties
    Style Tab
    Link to your Style
    Folder Layout Tab
    Region Link (i.e. Regular Items)
    Change 'Sort By' to Default
    OK
    OK
    Blue sort arrows should have appeared.

  • Portlet as item in content area folder?

    I was wondering if anyone has thought of adding a new item type of type portlet to the folder container?
    Is is possible now or coming down the road?
    My problem is that I have 260 portlets that the user needs to navigate through in an artificial hierarchy of sorts. Tabs appear to work, but they are ugly when I do lots of nesting.
    Any ideas?

    The folder portlet offers only a subset of edit actions. We did
    this to conserve space. This will be changed in the next
    release of Portal, planned for December.

  • How to pass variable to content area from a PL/SQL procedure

    Hi,
    Can somebody tell me how to create a(Content area) folder based on a PL/SQL procedure that takes a variable as a
    parameter and returns data based on value of that parameter to the folder . Any help would be appreciated .
    Thanks and regards.
    Neeti.

    Somewhere, in one procedure, build a session identifier and save your variable there. If no session with that identifier is previously stored, it will create a new session instance with that ID for you.
    declare
    l_sess portal30.wwsto_api_session;
    varvalue number;
    begin
    varvalue := 100;
    l_sess := portal30.wwsto_api_session.load_session('MYSESSION','VARIABLES');
    l_sess.set_attribute('VAR_NAME',varvalue);
    l_sess.save_session;
    end;
    In your other procedure, or anywhere else needed within that same session, simply load the session and reference the variable. To reference the variable, use the following.
    -- assuming new procedure, so re-defining session variable and reloading session into it
    declare
    my_session portal30.wwsto_api_session;
    my_new_variable number;
    begin
    my_session := portal30.wwsto_api_session.load_session('MYSESSION','VARIABLES');
    my_new_variable := my_session.get_attribute_as_number('VAR_NAME');
    end;
    This will let you reference parameters across multiple portal applications and indirect calls.

  • Cannot output Reports pdf directly to content area

    I have registered a report (Oracle Reports rdf) as a portal component. It is included in a content area. I can execute the report and the output file is created (pdf) - but it is not loaded automatically into the content area folder that I specified in the scheduling parameters.
    The pdf file is created in the first directory in the REPORTS60_PATH (in our case 'bin').
    Version info :
    9iAS 1.0.2.2
    Portal 3.0.9

    Andy,
    The integration of Oracle Reports into a Portal content area is possible in two ways. Having registered a report in the Reports security pages the Oracle Report appears a standard Web component and may be added as an item. In this case the report appears as a Link which when clicked will run the report at that time (you indicate that this is working). The second way is to push a scheduled report automatically to a defined folder such that when a user moves to that folder the pre-generated report is already there.
    This second technique requires that the report server know where the Portal repository is stored. To do this you need to first set the "REPOSITORYCONN" parameter in the Report Servers configuration file (usually <reportServerName>.cfg) Eg. portal30/portal30@PortalSID. This will then allow the server to push the completed document to the defined folder.

  • How to portlets in to content area folders

    hi everybody,
    i need to add portlets into the content area folder.
    Like, how we add portlets into pages(add portlet link).
    is that possible? It is very urgent for me.
    becz. i developed application using pages at first.
    so that i can create user wise portlets,that means, one page for
    all my users. but portlets display will vary according to the
    privilegs.now i need the same thing in content area.
    pl. help me ASAP!
    thanks in adv.
    Kathir

    Portlets can be added to the content area page. You can edit
    this page under Content Area Properties. Note that the content
    area page does not have all the functionality of a portal page -
    for example, it doesn't support tabs and you can't define a
    style.
    In the next release of Portal, content area folders and pages
    will be merged. The merged folder/page can be used for both
    portlets and items.

  • Exp/Imp content Area Portlet..?

    How to Exp/Imp "Content area folder published as a portlet" which reside in "WWSBR_SITEBUILDER_PROVIDER".
    Anybody from Oracle..?
    Thanks.
    Rakesh

    I assume you are using the 309 version of portal. It is possible to export out an entire content area or a page but not the granular items. By granular I mean just the folder in this context. If you wish to export/import the entire content area/page, you can run the pageexp/pageimp/contexp/contimp scripts which reside in the WWU directory.

  • Limited File size uploaded to Content Area

    Is it possible to limit the file uploaded as an item in the content area/folder ?

    Its a benign error. It has to do with flexible parameter passing. You can ignore it.

I have looked in the iAS plsql doc as well. Now this comes and goes as well. For the most part clients can upload files successfully, but once and a while this error occurs. • File handling in Content areas

    Where is it determined what happens when you select a file in a content area folder? If I want to only be able to download the file and not try to read it, is there a setting that may be changed to allow this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris,
    We just do whatever the browser is configured to do with the file type. There are no special settings available in Portal.

  • Setting focus to content area or top of the page

    Hi,
    I have a page with 3 columns, Left navigation (KM Document iView) in column 1 and Content Area (URL iView) column2 and there are other iViews in column 3. On click of the links in left navigation area the content is loaded in the content area. My left nav is too long, so I get scroll bar and when I click the bottom most link in the left nav, the content is uploaded in the content area. But the focus is not set to content area or top of the page.
    Is there anyway to set the focus to the top of the page or to content area.
    URL iView uses URL isolation method and we don't want to use embedded isolation method.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Diff between regular portal page and content area page?

    Hi.
    I have a content area page. Because I thought it would be nice to have "Edit Page" link on the page, I created a new portal page (yes, a portal page vs. a content area page).
    I created 2 regions.
    Region 1, portlet nav bar portlet from my content area.
    Region 2, root folder from my content area
    When I use the page, clicking on anything in the nav bar portlet takes me to a new page (my content area page), instead of updating the folder portlet on my new portal page.
    Is this by design?
    What the difference between a portal page and a content area folder?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Phillip

    Phillip,
    The two are indeed subtly different. The experts are on the content area forum but basically a content area page is designed to automatically provide easy navigation within a content area. This includes automatically "doing the right thing" for the navbar portlets.
    Note the links on the navbar portlet and their respective targets. They always target the content area page so that the navigation in a content area is seamless (i.e. the middle region updates w/ the current folder).

  • Moving a folder, Linking between content areas

    I have 2 problems:
    1) So far we developed all our content in a single content area. We would now like to split the information into multiple content areas. The MOVE or COPY command on the folder only allows me to copy within a content area. I have hundreds of documents to move. Is there any way i can move a folder to a different content area?
    2) What is the best way to link a folder from 1 content area to a folder in another content area? I found that the FOLDER LINK ITEM allows me to connect only within a content area.
    (I would prefer not to use an URL since the content publishers may not be able to construct complicated paths or the paths may change leading to broken links.)

    Suraj
    1) The only way to do this currently is to create an export of the content area, import it back into the portal and remove the duplicate content. We are planning a bulk action feature in a future release that would allow you do to selectively copy/move one or more folders into a new content area.
    2) Currently folder links are scoped within a content area; the only option is to link to the folder through a URL folder type. If you use the generated URL that contains the folder ID, you shouldn't run into any problems if the target folder is moved. I have submitted an enhancement request to extend the folder link to 'remote' folders outside of the 'home' content area.

  • BI content with folder structure in portal Content Area

    HI Dear Friends,
    I have  a requirement in my current project where i am integrating the BI reports with SAP EP.Iviews are associated with BI Reports.In the portal on clicking workset it should display folders in the portal content area with Icons instead of in Detail navigation .On click of the displayed folders it should display its sub content with Icons.
    I tried in all ways but later i came to know there there is a SAP BI business package which would come up with predifined iviews associated with BI. By importing this business package we can dispaly the  BI content in the portal in a folder format .
    I am using BI and EP 7.0 versions.
    Ratnakar

    Ratnakar,
       Let me understand your requirements, correct me if I understood it wrong. You need to display BI reports in Folder structure that is similar when you log on through BEx analyzer or WAD. If this is correct, then you need to upload the BI Role which contain all the required Folder structures and it BI Queries or BI Queries url assigned to that role.Once you upload this role on to portal , you will see folder structure on PCA.
    Example
    BI Reports  - Folder 1
      I--> FI reports  -- Subfolder 1
      I            I--> AP reports 1
      I--> CO reports  -- Subfolder 2
                   I--> Cost Report 1
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers,
    Balaji

  • Invalid URL Link in Content Area

    Hi,
    When I create a URL item which display directly on the Content Area. If I
    enter a invalid URL addres, the system will show an error when I view the
    folder, which is fine. However, it will disable me to see other item on the
    same folder and there is also no way to delete that invalid URL item at all.
    The only way is to delete the folder which will in turn delete all the items
    under that folder, which, is not acceptable. Is there some form of solution ?
