Content Aware Tool Not Working As Expected

I've been watching a whole bunch of training videos on PhotoShop CS5 regarding new features lately, been running the trial of CS5 on my Windows PC for a few days now.. Pretty much everything works as advertised, but I can't seem to get the Content Aware tool to do everything I've seen it do.
My main question is regarding the dialog box that is supposed to pop up when pressing the delete key while an area is selected. Doing this simply deletes the content of my selection as previous versions did. Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work?
I use PS on my computer at home, and I don't have internet access there unfortunately (only at work), so I can't even get to the help options... Maybe some sort of installation package for the help file would help answer this and many other questions, if anybody knows where I can get that...?

On a PC you hit the backspace key rather than the delete key and that will bring up the content aware
tool.

Photoshop Elements 13 Content Aware Fill Not Working

Hello, all. I am sort of new to Elements 13 and seem to have run into a bit of a blockade. I'm trying to eliminate a tree in the background of a photo with content aware fill capability; however, when I try this it loads as if it's working on it but when it's finished nothing has changed. I thought perhaps it wasn't prominent enough to recognize what to fill (which did seem unlikely), so I went ahead and tried it on something more isolated and still nothing is happening. I feel as though I must have something set incorrectly because a lot of my other tools aren't working either, but I can't imagine what it is I've done wrong.

When the editor gets weird, the first thing to do is to delete the preferences. Go the editor preferences>general, click this button and restart the editor:

Guides and Tools Not Working As Expected

I'm running Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Mac OS X 10.6.6 (10J567).
I've recently run into an issue that is quite frustrating. When attempting to drag a horizontal guide from the top ruler, a vertical guide appears at my cursor instead. Likewise, when I attempt to drag a vertical guide, a horizontal one appears instead.
Sadly, the guides aren't the only issue. When attempting to use the selection or crop tools, the selection expands in all directions when dragged. Also, when most tools are selected, the eyedropper icon is what is shown rather than the appropriate cursor.
I've tried removing preferences during Photoshop startup (Command+Option+Shift). I've also gone as far as to uninstall CS4 and re-install...to no avail. Has anyone encountered this? Has anyone found a fix for it?
I have found this link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/881/cpsid_88159.html, though that indicates a problem with CS5, not CS4.
Any assistance anyone can give would be much appreciated!

Is this a new problem, or has it been happening since you installed CS4? Did it just happen with the last update from Apple? The previous version?
Any other applications affected that you know of?
I'm just chasing shadows, here, but this might help narrow things down. Also, are you using a Wacom or non-Apple keyboard, or any other HIDs? I had a problem with the function key lock not 'sticking' across reboots, so would seem to lose some functionality - not the same as you're describing, but perhaps worth noting.
As the technote says Adobe is working with Apple, it seems like a collision with keyboard shortcts. Perhaps you could check any mappings or custom shortcuts, as well as the keyboard settings and tweak them.
Sorry I can't provide more insight, but I'll keep an eye out for possible solutions.

Content Aware tool causing corrupt images

As the title states, I went to use my content aware tool to expand a rather simple background texture and it went completely haywire!
This is what it gave me! I tried to undo it, thinking it had grabbed from all the layers, but going back in the history didn't fix it. So I closed the file (I didn't save it like this) and reopened it only to see the same thing! This was a project for a client so I was more than a little angry that some how the tool had corrupted my entire file and then saved it without me knowing! So I took this screenshot, only to try and open up a New Document and have it too look corrupted. At this point, I closed photoshop completely, making sure any services that started up with it was shut down as well and restarted it and opened my TIF file to find it perfectly fine.
Again I tried to use the Content Aware tool (with all my layers shut off, minus the one I needed extended) to only have it do the same thing to all the layers again!
Needless to say I closed photoshop, made sure my video drivers were up to date and reopened, pasted my screenshot and came here. So the obvious thing is, is that my Content Aware tool is causing a problem, but what in the world is going on? How do I fix this?

Yes; it will always depend on the individual image.
Don't expect miracles. The feature is OK but—despite all the hype—is not ground-breaking, in my opinion. It has been available for quite some time in Alien Skin's Image Doctor set of plug-ins and in the GIMP (this latter one free) in ways I find a bit better.

Silverlight 5 binding on a property with logic in its setter does not work as expected when debug is attached

My problem is pretty easy to reproduce.
I created a project from scratch with a view model.
As you can see in the setter of "Age" property I have a simple logic.

I expect that this code will limit set the Age to 18 if the value entered in the TextBox is lower than 18.
Scenario: Insert into TextBox the value "5" and press tab (for the binding the take effect, TextBox needs to lose the focus)
Case 1: Debugger is attached =>
TextBox value will be "5" and TextBlock value will be "18" as expected. - WRONG
Case 2: Debugger is NOT attached =>
TextBox value will be "18" and TextBlock value will be "18" - CORRECT
It seems that when debugger is attached the binding does not work as expected on the object that triggered the update of the property value. This happens only if the property to which we are binding has some logic into the setter or getter.
Has something changed in SL5 and logic in setters is not allowed anymore?

Inputting the value and changing it straight away is relatively rare.
Very few people are now using Silverlight because it's kind of deprecated...
This is why nobody has reported this.
I certainly never noticed this problem and I have a number of live Silverlight systems out there.
Some of which are huge.

The fact this works is interesting because (I think ) it means the textbox can't be updated at the point the propertychanged is raised.

When I use the "content aware tool and move an object, it does move the object but then it disappers

You wouldn't normally move anyting when using Content Aware. That sounds more like the Patch tool. But what I suspect you are doing is using the Healing Brush tool. With this tool you sample source pixels with the Alt (Opt) key, and draw over a bleamish or artefact to remove it (hopefully seamlessly). But if there was no bleamish in the area you painted over, it would simply revert to how it looked before.
Try this:
Select the paint brush, and with a very small tip, paint a blob of colour on your image or canvas. Now go back to the Healing brush and paint over that blob. This tim the blog should be removed. That's how that tool is designed to work.

Help!!! My Content Aware has stopped working.

My content aware feature stopped working. It worked for about 6 months and then stopped functioning correctly. I tried deleting and reloading the software, and this also did not work. I select an area to fill and choose content aware and it will only fill it partially. I am unable to post a capture of what this looks like. Basically, when I try to utilize content fill..the result is a semi filled section. It looks as if it glazes over the selection..leaving it visible but partially filled. This happens regardless of the selection size, area of the photo etc.

Creative cloud photoshop blur tool not work as it should be

creative cloud photoshop blur tool not work as it should be !
I go to blur a painting i am doing and it does not blur enough and I am using wacom Intuos 5 med pen tablet.
and I even set the tablets sensitivty for pressure lower then default and still not getting the blur tool to do its job.
I even adjusted the brush settings too to be able to blur even more on hard settings, still nothing.
at least it not bluring enough to see any major changes.
the only way i can blur anything is by using the fliters blur or the brushes ( mixer brush ) settings to mix colors and do it that way.
(note) I will not post my systems specs sorry I don't do that and even the tech from adobe said I do not have to. and so I wont !
just need advise not to share system specs.
and thats what this forums board is for getting advice and read what others say about the issue at hand.

It might be your image is too big in terms of pixel dimensions for the blur tool to work well.
If you zoom to 100% do you see any change when using the blur tool?
What are the pixel dimensions of the image?
(Image>Image Size)
If you try a small image, does the blur tool work?
What about when you use the mouse instead of your tablet?
Can you at least tell us what operating system and version of photoshop your using?

Subtraction of two key figures normalized to result not working as expected

I am having problems with getting the right result from a subtraction of two KFs which are "normalized to results" which means the KFs really have values expressed as percentages. The substraction that should be performed is of two percentages (e.g.: 87.298% - 85.527% = 1.77%) but my report prints out the result as "number of units" instead (e.g.: 87.298% - 85.527% = 71,514.00 EA). The two normalized KFs actually "point" to two stock KFs, hence the "number of units".
In order to explain the problem I am facing please analyze below text:
1) Let's assume I have below data:

In my report, the "Delta base vs. comp. units %" is not working as expected and

Hi,
The subraction will be carried out before doing the normalization of your KF's. So, it is displaying "number of units". Create a calculated keyfigure and subtract the KF's and in the properties of this calculated keyfigure, change the enhancement as "After Aggregation".

Events in SubVi not working as expected

Hi, I am reposting this question as my previous one didn't resulted in any satisfactory conclusion.
I have attached my Vi's which are not working as expected. If I remove ONE subVi and its associated 3 controls and two indicators, the other one works just fine, but when I add two SUB Vis, it goes messy. I am trying to learn this way, I am sure it can be done many other ways, but please help me finding out the problem doing it this way as in my final MainVi, I would like to use 8 such sub Vis. Thanks.

Your main problem is DATA FLOW. A loop cannot iterate until EVERYTHING in it has completed. So, as you have it, you have to have both event structures execture before you can go back to look for the next event. So if you insist on having these subVIs, they need to be in seperate loops.
BTW, you can get away with a single subVI. Go into the VI properties and make it reentrant (preallocated clone). Then each call of your subVI will have its own memory space. A lot easier to maintain that way.
And I know you said you didn't want alternatives, but here's how you can do it all with a single event structure in your main loop.

AFS ARUN Size Substitution Not Working As Expected

Hi All,
I need help with this. If any one of you have worked with AFS ARUN size substitution, kindly provide me with some details on how can I set it up. I am specially interested in setting up size substitution with two-dimensional grids.
I have setup some examples but it does not work as expected.
Here is a small example:
Say I have a size 28/30, 28/32 .........29/30....
What I want to achieve is that during ARUN if there is a shortage of stock in 28/30 then the remaining requirement qty should be confirmed from size 28/32.
with my setup after 28/30 it goes into looking for stock in 29/30, which is what I do not want.
Any inputs will be really appreciated.

I am very sorry to state that I made a mistake.
VAL_SIZE_TO_IMAGE indeed works.
What fails to work is VAL_SIZE_TO_PICTURE. (Second option in Fit Mode attribute in control editing panel)
I tried with JPEG and it's the same.
I am attaching an example.(Load_Image.c & ONEP_3Trow_POS1.JPG)
A panel with two picture rings.
- SW_1 remains at the intended size and the loaded picture is not clear.
- SW_2 will fit to picture size and looks OK.

Notification "Launch the app and go to the library" not working as expected

Hello,
we are sending notification "Launch the app and go to the library" - but it's not working as expected, it's still just launching app with last open folio.
Whats wrong there? Do we need v30 app? We have V29, but this is not mentioned in documentation.

Ok, now it's clear.
Anyway i would appreciate possibility to force viewer to switch to library view after new issue is detected, even without notification. Quite often requested feature - "there is new cover in Newsstand, but customer don't know how to download new publication easily".
