Content Conversion Server

Where does Content Conversion Server fit in? Is it required to be installed first before you install any of the other components? (Records Management, UCM, etc.)
If you purchase UCM is Content Conversion Server included as well?

Content Conversion Server is next generation Inbound Refinery (if you are familiar with that). It can run alone and it communicates to the content server through the provider interface. It is not required for UCM to install correctly. However, if you want thumbnailing, PDF Conversion, XML, TIFF, and the DAM conversion capabilities you need it.
Inbound Refinery does come with UCM but must be run on the same licensed CPU as UCM. This may be OK for test or dev instances but is not recommended for production. Therefore Content Conversion Server is able to be licensed separately from the other ECM software so it can run on / in its own environment.
Does this help?

  • Using XSLT mapping to avoid File content conversion

    Hi all,
    Can we avoid FCC by using XSLT mapping? I have a scenario in which I have to avoid FCC in the adapter and save the file in a excel/csv format. I have been through the different blogs and forums in SDN.
    I have been through Michal Krawczyk's Blog https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2803. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    Got a bit confused whether that blog serves my purpose. Expecting your valid inputs.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi,
    There are multiple ways in which you can avoid Content Conversion in the Sender / Receiver File adapters.
    I think there was a heated discussion already regarding this in one of your earlier threads,
    Read/Write csv files without file converter
    Basically, if you want to avoid content conversion on the sender file adapter,
    1. Write an Adapter Module. or,
    2. Use a Java Mapping.
    If you want to avoid content conversion on the receiver File adapter,
    1,. Use a Adapter Modules or,
    2. Use Java Or XSLTmapping ( XSLT can be used if the input to the mapping is XML and output needs to be say a Excel File etc).

    PR,
    Can you check the error in sender communication channel?
    Go to RWB ---> Component Monitoring ---> Adapter Engine ---> Communication cahnnel monitoring --> it displays new page. Then give your file sender communication cahnnel name. There you will definitely see some error.
    The error what you are getting is a different to this one. Can you please check the error what I have given above path.

  • Content conversion in sender adapter.

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the content conversion in sender adapter.
    I need only process the csv file with the exact number of columns containing the structure, if the csv file contains more o less columns in the csv file, I want that this files are not relayed by the adapter and remain on the server.
    Thank you very much for your help.

    @ Hareen
    This can be achieved at mapping level. You need to check the number of columns that are comming in the file using Count function. If the number of count is equal to the value specified then will process the message else raises a mapping exception.
    Are you talking about "count" function in the message mapping? that function won't count the number of fields / columns, but would count the number of occurrence of a particular field.

    OLRENDZZZZ
    Example Explained:
    ==============
    Position 1-9 is a "Transactional number".
    Position 10-11 is "Record type".
    Position 12-13 is "Line Item count".
    Four record types exist:
    03 = Location header
    01 = Transactional Header
    02 = Line Item
    OLRENDZZZZ = EoF marker.
    The equal sign "=" is a field separator/delimiter.
    In each delimited field, after the first equal sign in the record, the first two characters represent a field qualifier/field name tag/identifier and there only the data begins until the following delimiter.
    Each record is ended in a "CLRF"/'nl'.
    The file is build up, but not locked and only completed until the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" is inserted by the application on the last record of the file.
    My solution so far:
    =============
    Record Structure: row,*
    Record Sequence: Ascending
    row.fieldNames: field1,field2,field3,ect.......
    row.fieldSeparator: =
    row.endSeparator: 'nl'
    row.keyFieldInStructure: ignore
    ignoreRecordsetName: true
    This brings the file into the integation server as xml as follow:
    ============================================
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <ns:SAPtoFuelFACS xmlns:ns="urn:engenoil-com:i_fuel_facs_sap">

              <field9>AH10</field9>
         </row>
         <row>
              <field1>OLRENDZZZZ</field1>
         </row>
    </ns:SAPtoFuelFACS>
    So far, so good.
    The problem I am having is that I have to check for the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" to be present before picking up the file, else the file is not completed.
    I have tried a script to rename files in msg pre-processing in the channel, but the problem is the file channel has to be triggered and the original file mask is necessary for this, but then this mask is a valid pickup file mask. So to me it seems the only way is to do this is during the content conversion process as the files not matching the file criteria, where a EoF "OLRENDZZZZ" definition is not present, will not be picked up and be ignored until it is present or totally independent with a batch job.
    If someone has a more elegant way to solve this problem with just using the file channel configuration where every thing is pretty much apparent, I would greatly appreciate it if you could assist.
    Regards
    Willie Hugo

    The problem I am having is that I have to check for the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" to be present before picking up the file, else the file is not completed.
    I suggest a script.
    Say The files are dropped in FolderA. Have a script transfer a file to FolderB only if it finds the EoF marker in a file. Thus FolderB will be what XI will poll and that will always have the complete file.
    Hope this sounds good!!!

  • Sender Mail Adapter Content Conversion

    Hi All,
         I just want to know if we can send a flat file(Rather Than the XML) with content conversion using Mail Adapter. If yes then what are all the possible ways for this.
    I have tried but i am sucessful in sending the complete payload as a XML file, but i want the file with the content conversion, so that this should be able to picked by the third party systems.
    Will be oblidge if any supported blog or pdf is provided for the same.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Jay

    Hi,
    Now for the negative items, i want to send them back to business as flat file format
    using the mail adapter as attachment. This will help them to process the file as for there
    requirement.
    Since you need to send an email message you have to use the format mentioned here: (S-UserID required)
    https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012006153200000361852004E/ximail30_xsd.txt
    Save this file as an XSD in you local system and upload it as an External Definition in your XI server.
    Develop MI based on this External Definition (IN, ASYNC)
    Create an Interface Mapping with Source as the file containing Negative items and target as the above developed MI
    Now you need to develop an XSLT mapping (can use StylusStudio to do it) between the source and target Message Types
    This XSLT mapping has to be designed in such a way that it extracts the payload out of the Negative Items message and maps it to the target (Content) field....you need to use CDATA element of XSLT here.
    In this mapping itself you can define to what email-id you want to send the message.....
    Everything happens on the XI --> Business service side...so it is not the sender channel but is the receiver channel:)
    Your XSLT mapping will look something like:
    <Mail>
         <Content>
              XSLT CODE
         </Content>
    </Mail>
    where Mail and Content are the tags in the email message format...the External definition one.....
    If you are new to XSLT then refer to my answer in this thread...

  • J2SE XML to Flat File Content Conversion

    Hi
    I've currently got a scenario which sends a flat file to the integration server, it gets mapped and sent to a receiver adapter on a deployed j2se engine.
    I'm now trying to convert the xi-xml structured file to a flat file again on the j2se side (the same flat file format it originally had).
    My original flat file looks like this -
    477
    477=AA1
    My xml file looks like this -
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ns0:ResultMessage xmlns:ns0="urn:xxxx-com:a_test_j2se_filetofile">
    <Item>
              <field1>477</field1>
    </Item>
    <Item>
              <field1>477</field1>
              <field2>AA1</field2>
    </Item>
    </ns0:ResultMessage>
    I am using these content conversion parameters:
    xml.addHeaderLine=0
    xml.fieldSeparator==
    xml.endSeparator='nl'
    I get this error on the integration engine (sxmb_moni):
    Error while sending by HTTP (error code: 500, error text: Internal Server Error:java.lang.NullPointerException) (See attachment HTMLError for details)
    and the j2se adpater log says this:
    17:16:32 (4120): Message "13b9d644-54c9-4ffb-0c40-db4c14458d77" of type "application/xml", kind "B" received
    17:16:32 (4124): Parsing XML message
    17:16:32 (4131): ERROR: Message processing failed with "java.lang.NullPointerException"
    What am i missing?

    So, now... I did a test configuration in XI and sent your test-payload...it worked.
    The J2SE adapter configuration:
    File adapter java class
    classname=com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.ModuleXMB2File
    version=30
    mode=XMB2FILEWITHCONVERSION
    #Adress for XMB endpoint -
    XI.httpPort=8111
    XI.httpService=/file/receiver
    #File Adapter specific parameters -
    file.createDir=1
    file.targetDir=c:/transfer/inbound
    file.targetFilename=xmboutput.txt
    #file.writeMode=append
    #file.writeMode=overwrite
    file.writeMode=addCounter
    file.counterMode=immediately
    #file.counterMode=afterFirst
    file.counterSeparator=_
    file.counterFormat=00000
    file.counterStep=1
    #File Content Conversion specific parameters -
    xml.addHeaderLine=0
    xml.fieldSeparator==
    xml.endSeparator='nl'
    And here the configuration of the receiver communication channel in the integration directory:
    Adapter Type: XI
    Receiver
    Transport-Protocol: HTTP 1.0
    Message-Protocol: XI 3.0
    Adapter-Engine: Integration Server
    Adressing-Type: URL Address
    Target Host: <yourJ2SEip>
    Service Number: 8111
    Path Prefix:http://<yourJ2SEip>:8111/file/receiver
    Authentication Data
    Logon data for non-SAP systems
    User
    Password
    That's it... sent your payload and got the wished result:
    477
    477=AA1

  • Some Journaled Calendar Requests get stuck in Submission queue - 550 5.6.0 - storage error in content conversion

    I am having an issue on hub transport servers running Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6.
    Where some journaled meeting request related messages (acceptances, etc.) get stuck in the Submission queue.
    The error is:
    400 4.4.7 The server responded with: 550 5.6.0 M2MCVT.StorageError; storage error in content conversion. The failure was replaced by a retry response because the message was marked for retry if rejected.
    I raised the issue with our mail archiving vendor and they indicated this was an Exchange Server problem which should have been fixed in Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3, however we are running SP3 RU6 and the issue continues to occur.
    I realize that we could just delete the stuck messages from queue but has anyone run in to this before and know how to prevent it from happening?
    Thank You.

    Hi Mike,
    If you temporary disable\bypass third party Archiving , then what happens in the Queue.
    Thanks , Prakash

  • #550 5.6.0 M2MCVT.StorageError; storage error in content conversion ##

    User received this from Mocrosoft Exchange Server 2007.
    Message sent for users with mailbox on local on the Exchange 2007, message was delivered to someone outside the domain.
    Cant find anything about this.

    Here is some good troubleshooting when you run into a NDR
    that has the store driver failure. Or a NDR that looks like the following:
    #554 5.6.0
    STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:PropertyValidationException; Failed to process
    message due to a permanent exception
    This can happen for a number of reasons, and fortunately it
    usually is not that hard to troubleshoot. Your best troubleshooting approach in
    this case is to use the Pipeline Tracing and Content Conversion Tracing
    available on the hub transport server.
    1.
    Log onto one of the HUB servers
    2.
    Go to Start-> Programs-> Microsoft
    Exchange Server 2007 -> Exchange Management Shell
    3.
    By default tracing is turned off but to verify
    run the following command:
    Get-TransportServer
    | ft PipelineTracingSenderAddress, ContentConversionTracingEnabled,
    PipelineTracingEnabled, PipelineTracingPath
    4.
    To turn on ContentConversionTracing run the
    following commands (make sure and input the senders email address):
    set-TransportServer
    -identity "yourHubserverhere" -ContentConversionTracingEnabled $true
    -PipelineTracingEnabled $true –PipelineTracingSenderAddress “senders email
    address here"
    5.    Perform the action that caused the NDR again from the user’s mailbox.
    6.
    Now navigate to C:\path\ContentConversionTracing\InboundFailures on the
    HUB server that initiated the bounce back message and Sort by Date
    modified.
    7.
    You'll have an EML file containing the replication message itself and a
    TXT file containing some information on the failure. The top of the TXT
    file will often give you a useful clue as to the reason for the failure.
    8.    To turn off ContentConversionTracing run the following commands:
    set-TransportServer
    -identity "yourHUBserverhere" -ContentConversionTracingEnabled $false
    -PipelineTracingEnabled $false -PipelineTracingSenderAddress $null

  • Exchange 2010 Content Conversion problem

    Hi All
    Since a bunch of month, i've started to see some email stuck in the submission queue with this message:
    400 4.4.7 The server responded with: 550 5.6.0 M2MCVT.StorageError; storage error in content conversion. The failure was replaced by a retry response because the message was marked for retry if rejected
    It's always journaled emails that are stuck. Each time, i've extracted the message and opened it and each time it has a file called not supported calendar message.ics.
    I've opened this file with notepad and it's always something similar (UID changes):

    Anyone has a similar problem?
    Thanks!

    When it comes to this issue, I would suggest the following:
    Verify that you have the latest build of Exchange, Outlook, and mobile device OS/Application
    Seems to be multiple SP/update levels with 2010 SP2 UR 5 & higher
    Verify that the messages are not from external users which might be sent thru an antispam firewall -OR- have a disclaimer stamped (which can cause corruption in some instances)
    These are journal reports and they all originate internally (database reports versus hub).  Messages are sent through my external "Virus Firewall" (Trend Micro IMSVA) and then are delivered to my external, hosted mail archive.
    Check the message for anything unique or unusual (ex: date, timezone, attachments, addresses, message-headers, language, etc)
    The journal reports are sent from the address "[email protected]".  This domain has its own send connector.  The only messages that get hung-up are journal reports of Calendar items and the various acctions (accepted, tenative, etc).
    Save the message and try to replay it in a test environment that does not have journaling enabled.  Does the message replay if journaling is disabled vs when it is enabled?
    Hopefully this will help narrow down the issue
    The messages themselves are fine and are delivered without issue.  The
    journal reports that are having the problem, so I don't think there is a need to try this step.
    That all said, do you have any thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • File Sender, Content Conversion - how to define variable length last field?

    XI 3.0 SP17
    With a File Sender communication channel, that uses Content Conversion - how do I define a 'variable length' last field?
    The scenario - the input file has four fields, of which the first three are a known fixed length, and the last (fourth, trailing) field is variable in length.
    Using a Message Protocol of 'File Content Conversion', how do I define that last variable length field (field name 'WOData' below) in the Content Conversion Parameters section?
    My current parameters are:
    Recordset Structure  -  Row,*
    ignoreRecordsetName  -  true
    Row.fieldFixedLengths  -  1,12,5,99999
    Row.fieldNames  -  WOType,WONum,WOLine,WOData
    I've tried the following for 'Row.fieldFixedLengths' to no avail -
    '1,12,5,*'
    '1,12,5,0'
    '1,12,5,'
    '1,12,5'
    The last two were grasping at straws )
    The only thing I've got to work is specifying a 'large' value for the final field (99999 above).
    In addition, does anyone know if specifying a large value (e.g. 99999) for the final trailing field will give rise to performance issues when the file is being processed?
    In the help for "Converting File Content in a Sender Adapter", it states -
    <Begin Quote>
    NameA.fieldFixedLengths
    If you make a specification here, the system expects a character string that contains the lengths of the structure columns as arguments separated by commas.
    If you also specify a separator for the columns, you must not add its length to the length of the columns.
    This entry is mandatory if you have not made an entry for NameA.fieldSeparator.
    <End Quote>

    << note that fieldFixedLengths will not take any wildcard entries like *. So in these case it is ideal to provide a maximum char length.  But note that while the file is being created that many spaces will be created in your file !!! >>
    Hi Shabarish,
    Yes, no wildcard is the conclusion I came to, hence my maximum )
    The message size did not increase by any 'blank padding'.  When I look in [Message Display Tool (Detail Display)] 'Audit Log for Message: X'  -
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Channel X: Entire file content converted to XML format
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Send binary file  "X" from FTP server "X", size 103290 bytes with QoS EO
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Application attempting to send an XI message asynchronously using connection AFW.
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Trying to put the message into the send queue.
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Message successfully put into the queue.
    2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success The application sent the message asynchronously using connection AFW. Returning to application.
    The input flat file in non-XML format was 92,132 bytes and the message payload into XI was 103,290 bytes.
    My understanding is that trailing spaces are stripped from XML nodes.

  • In the Flat file generated after Content Conversion, In NFS AL11 Directries Not able to See complete file

    Hi All,
    My scenario is Proxy to File  scenario.
    I used content conversion for generating flatfile in receiver side.
    In FCC i used fieldFixed Lengths, The flatfile is generated. I gave the Target Directory as AL11 directory(NFS).
    In my scenario length of Header is 622 characters.
    But am getting the file Upto 512 characters. After That I am not getting any fields in the Header, Remaining fields are cut.
    Same I checked with SFTP server with same Content Conversion.It is working good  and I am getting complete Header with 622 characters.
    Can you please suggest what should I do to get the 622 character in NFS, It is accepting only 512 characters in NFS.
    Reagrds,
    Satish

    Satish,
    In addition to Amit,
    AL11 transaction is used to display all the SAP Directories.When you double click on a directory, you will able to see all the files in the directories. But you can not view the complete content of the file from AL11 as there are some restrcitions in it. Even if you download the file from AL11 itself, the actual file won't be downloaded and you will see the file name along with the path inside the downloaded file as same as you can see it in Al11. So if you need the complete and actual file, you need to download the file from the OS level. You can take help from your basis team to download the file.
    Thanks,
    A.B

    can any body help on this do I need to maintain any other parameters for file content conversion.
    Thanks

    HI,
    I can see that.
    The number of characters in the file for TABLE2 is lesser then the number of field size given.
    for eg. if the table2 fixed field length sum is 20 ,your file contains only 10 characters. Please give complete data for table2

  • File content conversion:move files to a new directory

    hi all,
              I have a file content conversion sender and receiver scenario.Now my doubt is: XI is running on sap27 server.Input file is being created by an ABAP program in r/3 and file being put in sap29 server.
    In source directory if i am giving the sap29 path it is not working.Is there any way that i can write a OS command to move files from 29 to 27 before message processing ??
    Any other option available??
    thanks,
    Nisheeta

    hi,
          Yes the basis people have shared the folder and they have mapped the sap29 folder into sap27 using I:\ drive
    But the files are not getting picked....am i giving the source directory wrong??
    I am giving I:\Folder_Name
    suggestions needed
    thanks,

  • File/FTP adapter, outbound channel, content conversion, UTF-8 (Unicode)?

    We would like to send "delimited" files to another application (tab-delimited, CSV, ... - the other application does not support XML-based interfaces). Obviously we will have an outbound channel that uses the file/FTP adapter and the data will be subjected to "content conversion".
    The data contains names in many languages; not all of this can be represented in ISO Latin-1, much less in US-ASCII. I suppose UTF-8 would work. The question is: how is this handled by the FTP protocol? (considering that the FTP client is part of the SAP PI file/FTP adapter and the FTP server is something on the "other" machine)

    Hi Peter,
    you can maintain the file encoding in the outbound adapter. See [Configuring the Receiver File/FTP Adapter|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm]
    For your requirements "utf-8" sounds pretty fitting.

    Udo
