Content Copier - "My Folders"

I'm trying to move my data from my N95-1 to N96. I have a lot of SMS in the "My Folders" section.
I've done a backup using Ovi, which is pretty small because my SMS is stored on the Micro SD card in the N95.
So I restore the data onto the N96 which has my contacts etc.
I then put my Micro SD card into the N96, and change the SMS location to the memory card (not the internal or "C:") and no messages show up.
Though, even with the SD card out of the N95, the N95 still shows all my messages in My Folders... ? I double checked what the N95 is set to, opps... Phone Memory. But it didn't back up with Ovi....
How am I supposed to get my "My Folders" SMS from one phone to the other?
(I have done a rough search but cannot find much, whereas I would have expected to see something refering to this...)
Thanks

Okay, I was partily wrong, only around 50% read Unknown for some reason. The rest shows the name, but the name only, no number (so no Reply option etc). And yes, I transfered the contacts first.
I have done something better though, almost. This might work if I left the messages in My Folders, but it is a bit late now for me to try...
1. Transfer N95 "My Folders" messages into N95 Inbox
2. Insert blank SD card into N95 (just to make it easier).
3. Set phones memory to the memory card (Messaging > Options > Settings > Other)
I checked this card on the PC then, since it was the only folder the \Private\ folder is where it stores your SMS
4. Insert card into N96, change it's memory location to the card (Messaging > Options > Settings > Other)
Now your SMS is in your Inbox, with names, and numbers. The reply option is present.
If you want to move it to your phone off the SD card...
5. Move the \Private\ folder (and the hidden pb folder) to the Phone memory or internal mass storage
6. Change the memory location again to C: or E:
If you have a lot of messages - install the SMS accelerator
http://europe.nokia.com/A4149167  -  It says E61 but it's fine for a range of Symbian based phones.
PS. What are we supposed to use to mark messages quickly now the "Edit" button (like the N95s) is missing?

  • How to Merge the Contents of Two Folders in Lion, Keeping the Newer Versions of Duplicate Files.

Select and copy all the contents of the folder containing the newer files.  Paste the files ONTO the folder containing the older files.  The unique files will be copied into the older folder without further ado.  For the duplicates, a window will appear warning that a file with the same name already exists in the older folder.  Check the "Apply to All" box and click on the Replace button, not the Skip button.  These steps will merge all the files in the newer folder into the older folder, replacing the duplicates with the copies from the newer folder.
Unfortunately, the only information that the warning window provides about the duplicates is their common name, not sizes, dates, or times.  These steps worked for me because I knew for certain that all the newer files were in one folder.

Great, I just lost 10 GB of data thanks to OSX folder merge... because appaerantly I should have known better not to keep a subfolder inside my folder I was trying to merge
I can not beleive more people don't have a problem with this. Merge contents in Lion does NOT merge contents if 1 or more of those supposed "contents" is a subfolder
Merge contents of two folders only works for files, it does NOT work for subfolders!!!!
Can we please get this acknowledged as a bug that needs fixing?
    EXAMPLE:
    Drive1 / Folder1
                   - text1.txt
                   - text2.txt
                   - / subfolder / text3.text
    MERGE TO
    Drive2 / Folder1
                   - text1.txt  (this gets updated / merged)
                   - text2.txt  (this gets updated / merged)
                   - / subfolder /
                             - text.txt
                             - text2.txt     (this should get text3.txt merged into it, from Drive1, but instead this subfolder is REPLACED, and NOT MERGED!!)
Why would i want to replace a folder if I'm trying to merge it!?
Almost 2013 and OSX still cant merge a folder? unbelievable

  • How can i compare the contents of two folders ?

how can i compare the contents of two folders and find out which files are in one but not in the other?? Knowing how to do this would be the best thing ever, especially when dealing with a large number of files. Often, for instance, I'm dealing with a large number of images, processing them, and saving the retouched ones to a new folder, and need to check that they are all there. If there are say three files missing in the second folder (out of say a hundred in total) being able to automate the process of elimination would be very useful. Please help!!!

I really wish I knew the answer to this. I work between two macs, a G5 and MacBook Pro when I'm on the go. Each time I move from one to the other I have to copy all my files to the computer I'm going to work on, so I end up with the same files being duplicated. It's not a problem if it's not much data but in my case the it can be to 30GB, mostly graphics files, photoshop, motion, final cut pro, etc.
There's has got to be a way automator can make a comparison between two folders to sort out what's changed and what's remained the same. It would be nice also if this feature could be done globally on the hard disk using spotlight's technology to stop files being duplicated in places you didn't even know about and taking up valuable disk space. I'm not sure how this could be done.
    Any bright ideas Apple?

  • Federated Portal Content Copy

    Hi guys,
I implemented an FPN scenario and it kind of worked. I can browse content stored on the producer but content copy, from the producer to the consumer, hangs indefinitely and never stops (either in IE or in Firefox).
    Any clue?
    Cheers,
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
Check this what SAP says about content copy:
    Remote Content Copy  Solved restrictions:
IMPORTANT: The architecture supporting the 'remote copy content' usage mode has been modified in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 10. It now supports delta link relationships between the copied objects (for more information about the new functionality support, see 'Remote Delta Link' below). This modification resolves many of the restrictions and limitations related to this content usage mode. We recommend not implementing the 'remote copy content' usage mode if you are running SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 09 and earlier. The reason being that any content using the old architecture will not be functional after the change. It is recommended to use Remote Role Assignments until SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 09.
Some of the restrictions that are related to content usage mode Remote Content Copy are:
o This mode not supported as of SAP NetWeaver SPS 10 - you cannot use Remote Content Copy objects as of SPS 10 (no migration is available).
o Only WSRP-compliant content is supported with this content sharing mode. This means for example that only iViews can be copied. Web Dynpro iViews, PRT server-side events between iViews and Object-Based Navigation (OBN) are not supported.
o Producer and Consumer must be of the same version and SPS.
o Changing an object name after copy is not reflected in PCD.
o Objects containing URL iViews have to be executed on the producer before copying them (execution will fail otherwise).
o In case copy process fails or is cancelled: objects might remain locked in producer. The producer administrator has to release these objects manually.
o Browsing through remote Portal Catalog fails when many folders are extracted at the same time - cache needs to be cleared.
    reward points if this helps.

  • Portal Content Copy Folder Error

    Hi,
In Portal Content Admin, the folders <b>Key Account Manager</b> & <b>CRM</b> are provided by business package and located under <i>Content Provided by SAP -> specialist</i>.
When these folders are copied to another folder for further customization, <b>Key Account Manager</b> is copied successfully but for <b>CRM</b>, following error message is shown:
    Copy: CRM
    Error
Source object not found. It may have been deleted.
Then, I tried to copy <b>CRM</b>'s subfolder. Small folders (packages, pages, roles, templates) completed successfuly but the complicated folders (iViews & Worksets) failed with the same error message.
Although I can try to copy the sub-folders one by one, it is too tedious & error-prone.
How can the <b>CRM</b> folder be copied completed?
    Regards,
    Tony

The reason for the error is still unknown.
By the way, with the help of Content Mirroring, this error is not an issue for me anymore. Using Content Mirroring instead of Copy & Paste is also suggested by SAP document: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/ed/fd25c7c14c4094a9fbb19851d79dd1/content.htm

  • How to copy nested folders list?

Is there a way to copy file lists stored in multiple nested folders into other programs, e.g. MS Excel? There was such feature in Mac OS9. For instance, if you copy folder contents of multiple folders located within each other, and paste it into Excel workbook, the files in those folders were placed into indented list, with the level of indentation reflecting the nesting order of the original folders. This was a very useful feature to create records of all files you have in an archive, and for creating databases of the multiple folders content. Is there such a feature in Mac OS X? If not, what could be another solution for capturing names of all files stored within a set of nested folders?

    komich,
You can do something similar using Automator. Open up your Mac's Automator program and set up a workflow using the following actions:
    1) Ask for Finder Items -- this action from Automator's Finder Library. Select from the drop-down, Type: Files and Folders.
    2) Get Folder Contents -- also from the Finder Library. Check "Repeat for each subfolder found."
    3) New Text File -- from Automator's TextEdit Library.
Save the Workflow as an application.
When the application is run you will be presented with a Choose a Finder Item dialog. Navigate to the desired folder and press Choose. A new text file will be generated with a list of the nested files and folders, albeit, without the indentation formatting you're looking for.
Note that the workflow can also be saved either as a droplet or a Finder Plug-in. Simply eliminate the Ask for Finder Items action, so that Get Folder Contents and New Text File become steps 1 and 2 respectively. If saved as a droplet, drag and drop a folder onto the saved application icon; if saved as a Finder Plug-in, right-click, or Control-click, on a folder and select your workflow from the Automator contextual menu.
    Good luck!

  • Worthy note for content copier users--

I always thought content copier was backing up my message folders which contanined important messages on my phone.
I now think it does not. You have to move the messages form your folders in messaging app to the inbox then do a back up.
I presumed it was backing up and restoring as tey were still there after I updated my firmware and restored but actually it is probably because they are stored on my memory card and the remained during the update anyway.
So if I had to format the mass memory all my messages would have gone and Id have no back up of them.
    Is this right?
Cant nokia change it so that content copier backs up message folders as well?
I.e it backs up the entire messaging program and all sub folders??
It also appears not to be backing up messages that have been bluetoothed to me.

Dissapointing reply from Nokia Careline when I reported the Content Copier problem. Evidently there are some issues with the latest PC Suite. Here is the reply:
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
In response to your inquiry, please be advised that we suggest you to try using the previous version of the Nokia PC Suite. You can download the lower version of Nokia PC Suite from the CD Installer included in the sales package. Alternatively, you may use the Ovi Suite to back up your data.
You may like to visit our website at www.nokia.com.my for more information and support for your Nokia device. If you have further enquiries, please write to us again or contact Nokia Careline at 1300 881600. We operate between the hours of 8.00am and 8.00pm, seven days a week.

  • Copying music folders from an old ext HD to a new one

Hey guys, long time off the discussions, back with a question I hope you can help me in.
Got a macbook. Have all my iTunes library on an external HD. Since this HD is failing, bought a new one. The failing HD is not being recognized by my new macbook, only by my old powerbook.
My goal is to transfer my music files from the failing HD, connected to the old powerbook, to the new HD, connected to the new macbook.
    My (idiot?) plan is:
    1) To set the new iTunes library location to the new HD through my macbook;
    2) To use a flash drive to copy all FOLDERS of artists from the failing HD;
    3) To connect the flash drive on the macbook and ask it to add the folders to my new location (the new ext. HD)
    4) Thing is, I´m not sure if iTunes will be able to copy FOLDERS instead of simple mp3 files. Is it possible? Is there a simpler plan to this mess??
Thanks a lot guys, any help appreciated.
    Paulo

Copy the music folders to the new hd.
On the new computer, set iTunes prefs -> Advanced - iTunes music folder to the location of the music on the external drive.
File -> Add to library and select the music folder on the external.

  • PC Suite 7.1.40.1 Content Copier does not work.

The Content Copier in PC Suite 7.1.40.1 fails to Backup the Data from the Phone. "The phone did not contain any content ..."
All Attempts to uninstall, delete Directories and Registry Keys did not help.
The Content Copier from 7.1.30.9 works fine.
    OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

I'm also having problems with V7.1.40.1 of this software, running on WinXP Home edition V2002 SP3.
(via Bluetooth Toshiba stack) from a 6600 Slide.
Trying to backup Contacts list (the MOST important data!!!) it just sits there forever with the 'busy' wheel twiddling round and zero % progress on the display bar.  It DOES say it might take a while but more than 30 minutes with nothing indicated for only a couple of hundred contacts suggests actually no progress at all!  It IS possible to read contact, calendar, messages etc., using other apps in the suite - but then the progress bar on the PC Suite display tends to stop, showing (eg.) 90%, although it looks like all the content has been transferred.  Using other apps, of course you can't create an alternative backup file!!!
When the contacts list fails to transfer, the phone screen momentarily flashes up a 'sync complete' message after only a few seconds - although I THOUGHT I was backing-up, not sync'ing!
PC Suite looks like a very nice software package - but does ANYONE (except US!!!) actually test it with real data and real phones???

  • PC Suite 6.81.13: Content Copier 3.0 crashes at 10...

After doing what seems to be a successful backup the content copier program crashes after several minutes of disk activity when at 100%.
This occurs only with 6.81.13 - the previous issued versions of PC Suite e.g. 6.7 do not have this problem.
This was repeated on 2 PC's both with Windows XP (1 home edition, 1 professional).
Both PCs have a previous version of PC Suite installed that was deinstalled via the installation of the latest version.
The backups were done from my Nokia 9500 using the DKU2 cable.
Also tried it with my wifes 9300 - same thing happened.
Because of the severity of this problem I considered reinstalling the previous version but I already deleted that and I cannot seem to access previous versions of PC Suite via the normal website.Message Edited by djmoore670 on 25-Sep-2006

  • Critical error in Content copier

    Hi everybody!
Installed the latest version of PC Suite.
When I launch the program it connect to my phone (6111) via Bluetooth.
File manager works, Messages works....but, I can't make the backup.
When i stasrt content copier, it sees my mobile phone but, when i click on "Backup" after 5 seconds it says: "A critical error occurred (0x80400001). Restart your phone and content copier. If this do not help, try restart your pc". But even if I restart both of them it still not working...
THIS IS MAKING ME MAAAAAAAAAAD. I NED TO BACKUP MY CONTACTS!
The strange thing is that with teh previous version of PC suite it worked.
Anyway, I tried to reinstall the previous version but it works no more.
    I'm using WinXP SP2
and a Belkin Bluetooth USB key (with WIDCOMM drivers).
    Please help me!
    THANKS :-)

I also have same problem. I have a 6230i and previous version of Nokia PC Suite worked fine.
Is the name that appears in the content copier important? Because in my case it shows ?s????p????? . This is probably because I had changed the phone name in the bluetooth settings and now I can NOT change the name that appears in PC Suite back to "Nokia 6230i". (I used IVT bluesoleil software.)
Also I cannot copy the sounds folder using the "sounds" folder using the file manager. I get message about copyright protection.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Urgent Help, Re Nokia Backup / Content Copier

    Help,
I need to gain access to a *.nbu file, This Content Copier has some old Numbers in it, And I need to open it without the Headache of Restoring it on another phone and going thru loads of numbers.
anyone know if Nokia do a piece of software that opens the *.nbu files so I can retreive some VERY VERY important information please???

Awwww, sorry to hear your shoes and headache. There are some really good sales on at the moment and you may just pick up something real cheap.
I think you might have to decide between the hassle of restoring it to a phone or paying $49. It really doesn't take that long to restore it to a phone so I would recommend you trying that. I'd do it for you myself if I could.

I was moving bookmarks in safari and 2 complete folders have emptied their contents. The folders are still there. I don't have a working time machine and icloud has caused the relevant folders to disappear from all my machines, iPhone, iPad and iMac as well as thge MacBook Air I was working on. HELP!!!

    Hi,
There is NO need to put your whole questing in the "Questing Heather" therefore you can TYPE here. In the Text window as I did to.
    Now to your questing:
So, you moved some Bookmarks and now 2 folders are completely empty.
I think that they dropped in a other folder during dragging the Bookmarks.
Did you check ALL of you Bookmark folder if they are there?
If you didn't delete the they have to be still there.

  • Content Copier freezes with N95

    Hi there,
I just updated my software on my N95.
I did everything right and have been trying to restore the backup I made with content copier.
My problem is that it doesn't complete the restore and seems to stop at 68%. I thought that maybe it wasn't responding, but it was still running and seems to be responding normally.
The backup was successful, but I just can't restore it.
Any ideas? I have a lot of numbers and calendar entries on my phone that I need to get back. I thought I was doing the right thing by backing up my details, but I still seem to have lost it all.
    Thanks for your help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi there,
I managed to get my contacts back because I had luckily sync-ed my phone earlier. Though I had forgotten I'd done it.
I checked your way of doing it and found the calendar details (among a lot of other junk I had to sort through.)
I just did the PC sync again and it loaded them all back on (though I made a copy of my Outlook address book first, just in case)
I'll definately have to remember both ways. I'm just glad that I have got my numbers back. The calendar I can deal with.
    Thanks
