Content Deployment Sharepoint 2013 Standard or enterprise
Hi,
Is content deployment feature(from one farm to another) a part of Sharepoint 2013 standard edition or enterprise edition?
Thanks
Not sure about content deployment source but cross site publishing is only available in SharePoint 2013 Enterprise edition, i suggest you to go for enterprise edition for safe side.

Migration from sharepoint 2010 enterprise to sharepoint 2013 standard
Hi
I need to do migration from SharePoint 2010 enterprise to SharePoint 2013 standard. We have only one content database and no custom deployments. I had tried database attach upgrade method. After I run Mount-SPContentDatabase PS Command. First it ran well
for few minutes then it got stuck for hours and finally failed . Please let me know if anyone came across this situation. How to migrate from SharePoint 2010 enterprise to SharePoint 2013 standard? Thanks in advance. Thanks norari,

Web Part Filters Part of SharePoint 2013 Standard.
Are Web Part Filters Part of SharePoint 2013 Standard. If so how do I enable. Currently they do not show up.
Hi ,
Could you elaborate your demand?
For inserting SharePoint 2013 filter web part, you can refer to the steps as below:
Open your site, go to the page you want to insert SharePoint Filter Web Part.
Edit the page.
Click Web Part under Insert tab.
Select Filters category in the Web Part Categories section.
Add the web part you want to use.

Methods for managing large content databases (SharePoint 2013)
I have a SharePoint 2013 web application with a content database of over 800GB. It's becoming difficult to manage backups (backup time takes forever). It was also very difficult to migrate for 2010 to 2013. I'm getting a warning from SharePoint
indicating that the content database is very large?
What are methods (SQL or SharePoint) for managing this. I was told I could split the content database into smaller DBs....RBS isn't a factor in database sizing (RBS content must be accounted for when sizing a database). The latter half of your statement is absolutely correct. Microsoft supports you based on those requirements, appropriate disk performance, HA, DR, and so on
(because restoring a 4TB content database would take quite some time).
But keep in mind what supported means here -- if you opened up a PSS case with Microsoft, regardless if you did not meet these requirements, they would 'support' you up until they found that the issue may be stemming from your lack of having these things
in place.

So RBS dosen't shrink DB size, what's the purpose of it. I dont' have RBS implemented but I have an 800GB DB. I have a disaster recovery plan, Mirrored SQL and the disk utilization is within the range. -
Deploying sharepoint 2013 foundation prerequisites requesting restart
Hi, I am installing the prerequisites for sharepoint 2013 foundation with sp1 on a Windows Server 2008 R2.
After the restart the server is trying to finish the prerequisites installation but never finishes and requires additional restarts.
This seems similar to other people expirience:

It is strange, because the prerequisites application identifies all the prerequirements as installed (I think). But it still requires endless restarts.

While reading the https://autospinstaller.codeplex.com/discussions/277130 in the last comment the source suspected was "WAS services". No solution was
mentioned except clean install of Windows.
At the first prerequisites installation I got the following two error messages, but do not know if it is related to the endless restarts problem:

Image Search by contents in SharePoint 2013?
Is it possible to search a SharePoint image by its content? example I take a screenshot and search by the text in screenshot?any custom ifilter available?
Hi,
By default, it is possible to search a Microsoft office(such as word, excel…) by its content in SharePoint sites. However, it is impossible to search a SharePoint image
by its content.
Here is a third party tool,
you can take a look at:
http://jpeg-ifilter.en.lo4d.com/
Best regards,

Hello everyone.
I am currently running a fully patched (Service Pack 1) version of SharePoint Standard 2013 On Premises. I am having 2 problems that are reproducible on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on multiple computers when running Internet Explorer 11 (fully updated
through Windows Update). The issues are "fixed" when running compatibility view in the browser or using Chrome/Firefox.
The issues are as follows:
Issue 1 Calendar view does not display correctly
Issue 2 Web parts do not display correctly when editing a page.
Picture of calendar
Webpart "edit menu dropdown" in upper right corner is replaced with 2 up arrows. Clicking minimizes web part.
Is there any word on a fix for this? Is this something only I am experiencing? Is there an issue with my SharePoint server? I would hate to have to uninstall IE11 from 300 machines and install IE10.
ThanksThere are a few critical issues
Pages will not enter edit mode. You will click Settings > Edit Page and the page will simply refresh but will not change over into edit mode. Seems to only affect pages with
Web Part Zones.
Calendar will not enter edit mode.
Web Part Properties cannot be modified. If you are able to get into edit mode (you can edit wiki pages) you will not be able to modify existing Web Parts by using the Web Part
Properties panel. Instead you will see a really weird collapse button that looks like it is coming from the mobile view but you cannot modify web part properties… even through the ribbon controls.
I cannot use the import spreadsheet app, the error says it is not supported with the current browser.
When I hoover over a “people” field I cannot see their information.
I had all these capabilities with IE9
This suggestion I found online appears to fix issues 1-3.
http://windowsitpro.com/windows-7/fixing-most-not-all-ie11-compatibility-problems
To run in compatibility mode
Press ALT + T when viewing your SharePoint page
Click Compatibility View Settings in the menu that appears
Click Add to add the current SharePoint site to your list of compatibility view pages

How to customise and navigate Content Type - SharePoint 2013 List
I need some advice here. I'm customizing forms that have list built using Content Types. I noticed the difference in the links is something like this below I have one default content list type called item and the other one is called College Form
Item is ContentTypeId=0x01003FF12EB7EAB88340BEE53D34C38A906200147E508F34B9164ABE555FF698569C27
College Form is ContentTypeId=0x01003FF12EB7EAB88340BEE53D34C38A906200147E508F34B9164ABE555FF698569C27
When doing my customization of the form I would like to hide some fields and show some based on the content type. I know by default the content type does that. But im using JS to hide some fields but don't know how i can do this or what values to use to
make this happen.
Any ideas and thanks in advanceWPQ2FormCtx.ItemContentTypeId will give the content type ID of the item in each of the forms newform.aspx, ediform.aspx and displayform.aspx. You can also use WPQ2FormCtx.ItemContentTypeName, if you want to compare name instead of Id. Here is a JQuery
code to hide fields in the forms:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
if(WPQ2FormCtx.ItemContentTypeId == '0x010400C36D463A4788AD4AAF5F85C02DA29F8E') {
$("h3.ms-standardheader:contains('Body')").closest("tr").hide();
</script>
Note that this script assumes the JQuery is already referenced in the site. You can place above code in Script Editor web part in each of the forms.
Also, beware that this way you can hide the field from UI, but user can still open the page source and find the actual information in the hidden field.
If the requirement is to completely hide the field data then you will need to set the field properties like showInEditForm, showInDisplayForm and showInNewForm

We recently deployed SharePoint 2013 Foundation but can't make Quick View (seeing the contents of a file when you hover the mouse cursor over it) work in the search results.
All Site Collection/Site Features are turned on. Not sure what else to do.
Does anyone have this feature working in SharePoint 2013 Foundation?
Thank you!Hi Charlie,
To view the Preview of the Search Results you need to Install/Configure Office Web Apps Server in your farm.

Sharepoint 2013 vs Exchange 2010 SP3 search (Error while crawling LOB contents)
Hi there:
We are trying to solve the problem: ERROR CRAWLING LOB CONTENTS when we wish to search Exchange 2010 SP3 public folder content on Sharepoint 2013 Foundation.
Quick briefing:
Followed this instructions:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591608(v=office.15).aspx
* Created CRAWL RULE
- Used Domain Admin for content access ---> IS THIS WRONG?
- Domain Admin can access public folder thru Outlook Web Access (checked)
- Included all items in this path
PRINTSCREEN 1
* Added a content source for Exchange Server public folders
- Logged to Outlook Web Access with domain admin, expanded Public folders and opened 1st subfolder in new window and copied the address
- Logged to Outlook Web Access with domain admin, expanded Public folders and opened 2nd subfolder in new window and copied the address
PRINTSCREEN2
* Did a FULL CRAWL
PROBLEM:
- Search results does not throw "correct data". Some items are not being found
CRAWL LOG is reporting: Error while crawling LOB contents
Detailed error message:
https://mail.domain.com/OWA/?ae=Folder&id=PSF.LgAAAAAaRHOQqmYRzZvIAKoAL8RaAwAnt2ed15IATLg8XoXLNj4EAAAAXsN8AAAB&t=IPF.Note
Error while crawling LOB contents.
Error caused by exception: Microsoft.BusinessData.Infrastructure.BdcException
The shim execution failed unexpectedly - Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation..:
System.InvalidOperationException An internal server error occurred.
Try again later.; SearchID = 4E8542D3-48EF-404E-8025-8D9AAEFE777A )
We thought it's a throttling issue / found possible solution:
http://powersearching.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/exchange-public-folders-search-fail-error-while-crawling-lob-contents/
Tried it, still same Error messages, problem not resolved.
Any hints? Please advise.
With best regards
bostjancHi Bostjan,
From the error message, the issue might be caused by throttling policy on Exchange side. And the article you posted provides the right solution, some modification to the solution and please try again.
For throttling policy part
1.Execute the command for Set-ThrottlingPolicy
Set-ThrottlingPolicy SharePoint -RCAMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EWSMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EWSMaxSubscriptions Unlimited -CPAMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EwsCutoffBalance Unlimited -EwsMaxBurst Unlimited -EwsRechargeRate Unlimited
2.Execute the command Get-ThrottlingPolicy SharePoint to double confirm the policy setting has been successfully executed
For registry key part
1. Start Registry Editor (regedit).
2. Navigate to the following registry subkey:
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
3. Right-click ParametersSystem, point to New, and then click Key.
A new key is created in the console tree.
4. Rename the key MaxObjsPerMapiSession, and then press Enter.
5. Right-click MaxObjsPerMapiSession, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
The new value is created in the result pane.
6. Rename the key to <Object_type>, where <Object_type> is the name of the registry object type that you're modifying. For example, to modify the number of messages that can be opened, use objtMessage. Press Enter.
7. Right-click the newly created key, and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type the number of objects that you want to limit this entry to, and then click OK. For example, type 350 to increase the value for the object.
9. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.
If it still doesn’t help, please check ULS log for related error message.

SharePoint 2013 deployed using Layer 2 network; considered stretched Farm?
Planning to deploy SharePoint 2013 in different DC’s, the distance is 130 Kms between DC’s. The bandwidth is 100GB but latency is <20ms
but it’s a layer 2 network. Is this deployment considered to be a stretched Farm?
Mohammed Asif Kaziare both DC on same domain? what about the servers, will all in the same DC or they spread across DCs?
with the latency you mentioned, this is not supported. It is highly recommended, avoid it as much as you can.

Dear All,
I have a Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise + SQL Server 2012 running in single server. I have a client where they are using Vmware Sphere 5.1 - having 2 virtual machines. One to run SQL server 2012 and the other run SharePoint 2013 Standard.
My question is , is it possible for me to restore .bak file from my machine to the client environment? If it is possible; may I ask for a step by step guide on how to do it?
If it is not possible, do it need to recreate the content of my SharePoint site for the client?
Really need help.It is possible, but after the restore is complete you will have to redo all the security settings on all the content in the sites and in SQL since they will have a completely separate domain than yours.

OneDrive for Business iPad App with on-premise SharePoint 2013
I don't know if this has more to do with OneDrive for Business or SharePoint 2013 itself.
Basically we are trying to log into OneDrive for Business on the iPad app but it says "Sorry, this app doesn't support this type of authentication"
We are using Claims Based Authentication with our On-premise SharePoint 2013 environment, which according to this table is a supported method: h**p://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/use-the-onedrive-for-business-app-on-an-iphone-or-ipad-HA104005688.aspx#_Supported__authentication
We have tried different combinations of the username and url. Windows username, DOMAIN\username, email address, username@domain, etc. nothing seems to work.
Any ideas on how to fix this?according to office blog, it does support SharePoint on prem with following authentication(NTLM & FBA)
Introducing OneDrive for Business for iOS v1.2
Q. Does this announcement apply to customers who have deployed SharePoint 2013 on-premises?
A. Yes. The OneDrive for Business for iOS v1.2 app does support some SharePoint on-premises configurations (NTLM & FBA). We are committed to providing customers access to their OneDrive for Business in SharePoint 2013 on-premises. We also recently introduced
new capabilities in SharePoint 2013 SP1 to more seamlessly connect on-premises investments to OneDrive for Business in Office 365. More information to be shared at SharePoint Conference 2014 (March 3-6 in Las, Vegas); we will link to the relevant information
once it has been posted next week.
