Content Disappearing off ipod
Like every night before work i delete some episodes of my iPod and put different ones on it, along with podcast and audio books.
I'v done this for as long as i can remember. But Tonight after ejecting my iPod, my iPod is empty. only my photos and apps are still on there.
i plugged it back in and iTunes on the PC can see all the stuff that should be on it, but, it can see most of my free memory is empty instead of mostly full.
so i deleted the ghost files it claims were still there and try transferring them back on. This worked, but when it was done i tried to transfer a single item over.
The video wouldn't transfer and everything on my iPod disappeared again same as before. (Yes there was enough space for the single video. From what i can work out when a small amount of files try to move they can't, and everything else disappears).
Please help me.

I have an original iPod mini and it's always worked great. It has the latest software, and I have the latest version of iTunes. In the past week or so, I've had a lot of problems with syncing and getting iTunes to even recognize my iPod. I've had to repeatedly restore it, then load all the songs, audiobooks and podcasts onto it. Several times now, after laboriously copying everything over, I've synced a podcast or music, only to find nothing on the iPod when I hop into my car and turn on the iPod. This happened again today, right after I verified that I'd loaded two new podcasts on it and ejected it properly.
This time I decided, after restoring, to cut my losses and only put on the podcasts I want to listen to, and one audiobook. No music. So I loaded on one audiobook and one podcast. When I tried to drag another podcast on, it just refused to do anything. No error message or anything. This has happened once before.
Is it possible that my iPod hard drive is just giving out? Does this seem like a hard drive issue? I can't think of anything else, but I'm crossing my fingers that this is not it. Help!Hi,

My Notes (yellow notes app) disappeared from my iPod touch running iOS 6.1.3 and found out here they'd been "synced" to my email account. Sure enough there they were. As suggested, I went into settings for the email account on my iPod and removed "notes" as one of the things to track. I checked the settings for Notes and there is no option to make the iPod the place to keep things (apparently, this is an option on the iPhone version of Notes). Now my test note has stayed on the iPod. But how do I get the old notes that are sitting in an email account back to my iPod?
Also, I'm not sure who decided "sync" should mean "remove from one device and put it on the other device". This is not most people's definition of "sync". It isn't done with email syncing. When I send mail (yahoo or gmail), from either the iPod or some other device, the sent mail shows up on both devices, not on one or the other.Are you sure they are not there? Check your later pages. Syncing often reloads the apps out of sequence. Also check in iTunes under Apps that Sync Apps is checked.

i plugged my ipod into the computer, and it deleted all my content ( i didnt know that at the time - i wasnt paying attention). now when i plug it in again, i only have my photos, and 3 gigs of what it calls "other". i have no idea what this "other" could be. now i cant redownload my music.

Album art disappeared off iPod! Won't go back on! Please help-
This is frustrating beyond belief! Anyway, this is how it went down:
I was updating & synching my iPod (the new iPod video version, 80GB) as usual. Bored, I was looking around in the different tabs while I waited. On the music tab, I saw a check box that said "Display album artwork on you iPod" and it was unchecked. Confused by this, as my album art had always shown up before, I figured I might as well check it just in case to keep my album art ON my iPod. :O Seemed like an okay idea at the time, but the second I clicked "Apply" my iPod started synching with the message "Deleting Album Artwork from iPod" (or something basically like that". I was like HOLY CRAP that's not what I wanted (more like exactly the opposite...), so I clicked "Cancel" but the darn thing continued and finished anyway. Turning on my iPod, I found that indeed all my album art was gone and all my text was center justified, as if it had never existed. (While it's all still there in my Library, displaying just fine~)
So I figured I better uncheck that box (even though it was called "Display album artwork" in the first place) and try to undo what had just happened. I did and on the next synch, it said something like "Optimizing Album Artwork for iPod" and I thought YAY. Maybe it's going back on. But the synch lasted only a few minutes (not seeming long enough for 4,000+ songs worth of artwork to get on there) and, again, when I turned my iPod back on the album artwork was STILL not back on, this time my text being completely left justified (like there SHOULD be artwork) but there was nothing else there...
I've always been a stickler for my library, making sure all my albums are organized and have artwork (often making my own when I can't find it) and I will be VERY upset if I can't figure out a way to get it to display on my iPod again!!! TT__TT I'm so sad. Now both checking or unchecking that box that started this in the "Music" tab do absolutely nothing, and nothing seems to put my artwork back on. Please, if anybody can suggest anything, I would be SO grateful... (Restoring the iPod is the only other thing I can think of [it's software is completely up to date[ and I really don't have the time for that right now.)Sounds very weird and talk about unintended results ...
By the by restoring the ipod is not a bid deal (although takes some time).
How about this (have not tried it) and assuming you still have artwork on your music library in itunes. Turn on manual synch mode once the ipod is connected. You should see the list of songs you actually have on the ipod. Delete every song and synch (I know, it will take time since you have 4000 + songs). and then turn back automatic synch and re-synch. May be once in manual mode, you could try re-synchinig only a portion of your library to see if it works That's the best I can think of.

Content disappear when use another mac to charge iPod
I am a new user of iPod, I loaded my ipod shuffle from a desktop Mac, then try to charge the iPod battery using a MacBook, then the content of all loaded songs disappear from iPod, I suspect it try to automatically sync with the songs in MacBook, but there is none in the MacBook.
If so, how can I stop this from happen, if not, does it mean that I can not connect my iPod to another computer to charge t?As recommended, in Settings in iTunes, I UNchecked "Open Itunes when this iPod is connected" in both computers and click "Apply". but then when I connected it to MBP, the indicator amber light is blinking constantly, and I have to open the iTune, and then the light turns green, but the content was wiped out, the option for :"Open itunes when this iPod is connected" is indeed unchecked. so I am back to square one.
so I have to use decktop mac to load the music again. by the way, the reason I need to use MBP to charge the battry, is that the iPod when connected to desktop Mac has constant blinking amber light unless I plug it to MBP first, but then the content disappear. -
I purchased songs on my i-pod touch and I transferred them into I-tunes, but they have disappeared off my iPod touch and are only in I-tunes. ALSO they do not play in I-tunes, they are in faded font and they don't play or transfer onto my iPod when I sync it! Please help me!

On-The-Go Playlists Disappearing from iPod 5.5 gen in iTunes 8
After upgrading to iTunes 8, whenever I sync my iPod video (5.5 gen, 30 gb) any On-The-Go playlists I've made since I last synced just disappear! Even when I choose "Save Playlist" on my iPod (which makes them appear as New Playlist 1, 2, etc. on my iPod), connecting my iPod immediately erases the playlists. Also, the first time I synced my iPod with iTunes 8, it erased more than half of my existing On-The-Gos--for some reason, it erased OTG 1 through 14, kept OTG 15 through 21, and erased everything higher than that. I have no idea why it only chose to spare OTG's 15 through 21 and kill off the rest, but alas, it did.
I really would rather avoid having to restore my iPod. I did uninstall iTunes 8 and reinstall 7 just to see if my playlists were recoverable somehow, but no dice. I use On-The-Go playlists all the time, so I'm pretty bummed and frustrated about this.
Can anyone share some insight as to why this could be happening? I'm not having any other issues with my iPod, and like I said, I would really prefer not to have to restore my iPod, as last time I did that about 10% of my song information got totally scrambled in the process, so I'm saving that as a last resort.

Thanks!It sounds as if you are right-clicking the playlist under the name of your iPod in the devices section of iTunes (as you cannot eject a playlist, only a device). Whatever is highlighted in the left-hand source list in iTunes is what you are accessing, so if you are under devices you are looking at the content on the iPod, not what is in iTunes.
To delete a playlist, make sure you are right-clicking the playlist under the playlist section of iTunes, to re-name a playlist you would select the playlist (by clicking on the name just once) in the left-hand source list under playlists, then click on the name of the playlist again (just once, double-clicking will open the playlist in a new window) and it will turn into a textbox in which you can edit/change the name. The name of a on-the-go playlist can only be changed in iTunes, and the name will automatically update on the iPod the next time you sync. -
ITunes content disappears - gradually
First the iTunes window got compacted - folded in on itself and almost disappeared off the left hand side of my second screen (which is also on the left of the main one). I tried switching the computer off (not saving any changes). No dice.
Then I repaired iTunes from the Control Panel.
I cannot see the usual window on the left showing the connected iPod (Nano 4th Generation) and the content. All my music, videos and podcasts are there in their Windows folders but not nothing shows at all. A strangely beautiful dark grey, totally unpopulated screen
What is afoot - anybody got any ideas?

The problem seems to be that the files window extends to the left of the left hand side of my screen. All the buttons along the top are in the RIGHT place, but the artwork of the far left folder is mainly off the window (NOT the screen).
I have now reinstalled iTunes on top of the old one. Then I deleted it and started again. Same thing. Then I removed/deleted iTunes again and restarted the computer twice before installing again, at the same time moving anything that looked like a configuration file.
This has got silly, and I am not going to reinstall Window to fix it. Something is corrupt, but what?

No music in iTunes library and it wont read the content of my iPod? Help please!
So I recently updated to iTunes 10.7 and when I did, all of the content in the iTunes library was gone! i have tried many different things to get it to work, like restoring to a previous iTunes library, but it appears that all the previous iTunes libraries were also deleted when I updated! If there is no other way to get the music back than finding the original files and putting them into iTunes, I guess that will be ok.
The second problem I am having is that when ever I try to sync my iPod it takes a very long time to load, and then it says that iTunes can't read the content of my iPod and that I should restore to the factory settings, but because there is no music or apps in my iTunes library I dont want to do that, because then I will have no way of getting all of my content back on. And I can't restore to a previous backup because it wont read it as my iPod, it just comes up as an unkown iPod. This is very frustrating and I have tried everything I can think of. Please help!Try:

The content on my iPod touch cannot be read
My nearly 4 week old brand new iPod touch 8GB's content cannot be read on iTunes and it says that I need to restore it, which I don't want to do, so could anyone help me? I would be really grateful if someone can as I have lots of content on my iPod.

ITunes Reports "iTunes Cannot read the contents of the iPod...."
This morning I connected my 2 week old iPod Classic to my laptop via the USB cable and iTunes came up and displayed a message saying "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod MHAM'S IPOD". It suggested a restore, which I have not tried yet. I have faithfully used the "Eject" function in iTunes to disconnect. After reading some other posts in the forums, it appears that others are having a similar issue. I'm concerned that this is normal operating behavior for this product. Given that this is my first Apple brand purchase, I'm a little turned off to the brand. Does anyone have a suggestion that doesn't involve me wiping this thing clean and starting over? And is this something that I should just expect? I ran a diagnostic and the results are below.

The iPod updater logging file cannot be found.I had this same exact issue happen to me this morning, and I lost 40 gigs worth of transferring in restoring it. I put a few albums on for the day, and when I tried connecting again this evening, the same thing happened. It hit me when it happened the second time that both times I had the iPod locked when it connected it to the computer. I'm pretty sure I've never accidentally connected it while locked before. My guess it that it is unable to read the content since the iPod is locked, and somehow this causes some sort of corruption that prevents it from seeing the files until a restoration is done. I would think Apple should be able to release an update which would detect if the iPod was locked and tell you to unlock it rather than to go through this process of losing all your music from the iPod. It scares me to think this could happen again simply if I am absent-minded in the future and forget to check whether it is locked or not before I connect it.

ITunes cannot read the contents of my iPod?
I wanted to put some new songs onto my iPod, but when I plug it into the computer, a message pops up; 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to its factory settings.'
I tried this, but when I connected my iPod to the computer again, the same message popped up. I have switched my iPod off and then back on, reconnected my iPod and downloaded iTunes again, but they all didn't work.
Does anyone know what to do?Reboot the computer

Podcasts disappearing from Ipod
For some reason, a few months ago, my podcasts started disappearing off my ipod, it is an 80gig classic, so i prefer to leave them on there, i have checked in podcast settings that it is set to keep them, and i can't see any pattern emerging as to when or why they will disappear, they still exist on my hard drive and on itunes, but not on my ipod.
Any ideas?I had a similar problem when my old Keith and the Girl episodes. iTunes kept syncing them to my iPod causing iTunes to keep turning off Podcast syncing because it ran out of room even though I listened to most of them.
My solution was to turn off Podcast syncing in the iPod settings and just creating a custom playlist (and also set where Playcount is 0" to work around the Podcast bug that causes a file to be marked as played just when it's started). This also meant that I had to add "where Podcast is false" to all the other playlists, but at least I don't miss my Keith and the Girl episodes anymore AND it also works around iPod marking the file as played when I didn't complete the episode.
Also, in the sync options for the iPod, I turned off sync all music and did individual smart playlists.
