Content editors and Contribute

I am the webmaster, and I want the content editor to edit
pages from her computer.
The manuals discuss the key and somewhere it mentions that
users can edit pages in Micorsoft Word, but nowhere does it say
that the content editors must have Contribute and/or Dreamweaver on
their computer. Do they?
Could someone please enlighten me on this simple and probably
very obvious point?

Hello GretchenG,
Upon installing Contribute 4, you have the option to install
the Contribute plug-in to MS Office Applications. It is this plug
in that would allow you to edit pages in MS Office Applications and
publish it to the website. However, the plug-in still requires the
actual Contribute application for it to work.
To answer your question, Contribute is still required on the
users' machines if they are to edit/publish content to the
website.

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to show a list data in a page using jQuery and Content Query Web Part.
    You could use SharePoint REST API to accomplish your requirement, please refer to this code below:
    <div id="listData">
    </div>
    <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function(){
    //replace your list title
    $.ajax({
    url: _spPageContextInfo.webAbsoluteUrl + "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('customlist03')/items",
    type: "GET",
    headers: {"accept": "application/json;odata=verbose"},
    success: function (data) {
    if (data.d.results) {
    var obj = data.d.results;
    for(var i = 0; i < obj.length; i++)
    $("#listData").append("<div>title "+obj[i].Title+"</div>");
    error: function (xhr) {
    alert(xhr.status + ': ' + xhr.statusText);
    </script>
    The screenshot below is my result:

  • Add and edit content editor web part to pages in bulk.

    Hello,
    I had recently posted a question 'Build pages in
    bulk' and thanks to
    Alex Brassington, I was able to do just that. Now, I want to take this PS script and XML file to the next level. Currently I am using page content to add simple text to each pages in bulk. Now, I'd like to add the Content Editor webpart and also add text
    in it in bulk. Is that possible? Below is the code for both the PS and the XML. The script is run as
    PS c:\scripts> .\New-Page.ps1 “c:\pages.xml”

    If i just fill the .txt file that is linked to the CEWP the web part div scales fine, but adding a nested div or an image and it doesn't scale down.

  • How to modify title and tooltip text in Content Editor web part

    I have inherited a site with a page that includes two Content Editor web parts. The web parts have been left with the default titles (Content Editor [1] and [2]) and mouse-over text.
    I want to set these to something more appropriate so I choose the option Edit Page (to edit the web parts on this page). I can move the web parts around (so definitely in Edit mode) but if I click the Edit Web Part Properties the page refreshes but no properties
    or options (or errors) appear.
    How do I modify these web parts?

    When you select the edit web part options, the page should reload with the configuration options on the right hand side. This will include several collapsed sections, namely: -
    Appearance
    Layout
    Advanced
    If you maximise the appearance one, you'll see a text field for "Title."  Edit this to what you want and you'll be able to rename these.
    If you can't see the options, make sure to scroll to the far right hand side of the screen.  Sometimes on larger resolution monitors, they can appear hidden.

  • Since installing 3.6.9 my Joomla content editor pop-up windows no longer return the URLs selected

    I recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.9 and found that when using the editor in a Joomla 1.0.15 website , the content editor pop-up windows no longer return URLs selected (eg: image or file URL to be used in a link). I have been using the site with no problems for many years, and the problem was cured when I reinstalled 3.6.8

    Thanks cor-el but the problem is not in my web development but is a new issue/problem in FireFox which was not present in all versions up to and including version 3.6.8 and was only introduced in version 3.6.9. I have also established that the same problem also exists in FireFox version 4 beta 6 and have therefore also raised a second question today.
    My understanding was that I should raise these issues in this forum, but I will also check out the other forum.

  • Relative Path for Jquery into Content Editor Web Part

    This content editor webpart not working in sharepoint page. Once I checked out to the page then chart is working. When i checkedin function not get called. How to fix this?
    THanks in advance!

    In SharePoint 2013, sp.js and sp.runtime.js does not load on the page in published mode. You need to explicitly load these files. You can check using IE developer tools in the Script section that in published mode these files are missing.
    In order to fix this issue explictly refer these two js files on your page.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="_layouts/15/sp.runtime.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="_layouts/15/sp.js"></script>

    After over a month of contacting support, I have come to the conclusion that Adobe does not offer advance support for CPS. The only thing that the low level tech support agents are capable of doing is
    1. transferring you to someone else,
    2. Sending you links to the online manual and livedocs that you have probably already read.
    After spending over a month and roughly 100+ hours I have determine that CPS cannot handle multiple client certificates sent via a Department of Defense Common Access Card. I did learn the following info that you might find useful.
    1.      Contribute must be able to write a file to the root (when you 1st connect it writes TMPjaisd8ua89ua.htm then deletes it) If this failes for any reason, contribute gives you the ever so helpful could not connect error
    2.      contribute must be able to write / delete files in root/_mm
    3.      If you want users to send drafts contribute must have access to root/MMWIP
    4.      If you are using Contribute CS3 or newer and you remove a connection from a computer, the connection isn't really removed 100%, you must go into regedit, current user, software, adobe, contribute41 and clear out keystore, trusted CPS Server, Admin Servers. Just leave the defaults. This might be different for version 5
    5.      Work with an LDAP admin to get the correct LDAP settings so CPS can view the directory
    6.      If using multi LDAP servers ensure that replication is working correctly on them all otherwise your users won't be able to access the site if connected to a faulty LDAP server. Also make sure users can get to the directory via windows if using local/Network connection
    7.      Work with Network admin to have security logging enable on the web server so anytime contribute gives an error they can check the log to see exactly what your account was trying to do at the time of the error.
    8.      Read the Manuals, in fact memorize them.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Contribute/4.1_CPS/help.html?content=con_overview_ov_3.html
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Contribute/4.1_CPS/help.html?content=con_setup_install_si_18.h tml
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/contribute/311/deploying_en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?hr ef=00000049.htm#134387
    I hope this will shed a little light on CPS and contribute or if not then at least give you some direction on how to debug your problems since Adobe will never help you.

    Addition:
    9.      Create a folder on your desktop called "ctnetperformancelog" and then launch Contribute.  Information logged in these files can provide invaluable insight in pinpointing where problems originate.
    For example:
    135 07/05/11 12:31:53 PM mmoreno netio/LAN PutData ACCESS_DENIED 5 5 0.0017 file://webdev/Dev/ /Dev/_mm/contribute.xml
    This was the result of /_mm/contribute.xml inadvertently being marked read-only due to a dreamweaver misconfiguration.
    See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/195/tn_19506.html for more details.
    Don't forget to delete or rename this folder (e.g. "ctnetperformancelog-DISABLED") after debugging since the log files can grow quite large.

    I would be glad for the opportunity to customize a Premiere Elements 12 answer to your Premiere Elements 12 issue.
    But, I want to make sure that we are together on the details. This is my understanding of what you have written. Please review and let me
    know if I am misinterpreting anything that you have written.
    You have a video created in Windows Movie Maker.
    How did you output the video from Windows Movie Maker...wmv or mp4, what was the frame size and frame rate of that export?
    Next you import that video into Premiere Elements 12 (can we assume that this is on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit?)
    From what you wrote, you have applied a pan and zoom effect to your video in Premiere Elements.
    Now you go to export the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline content with your video with the pan and zoom applied.
    But, the pan and zoom effect is not seen in playback of the export.
    Is all of the above correct so far?
    If so....we are going to need some more details from you...
    a. What is the project preset that you or the project are setting to match the properties of the video coming from Movie maker? See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Rate, and Pixel Aspect Ratio even if the fields look grayed out.
    b. Are you applying the pan and zoom effect with the Pan and Zoom Tool, fx Effects Presets, or keyframing the Scale (for Zoom) and
    Position (for Pan) in the Motion Panel expanded?
    c. What are you selecting as your export in Publish+Share/. Please give details...are you using default settings or customizing the export
    setting under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of the preset selected?
    I am suspecting some sort of mismatch of your project settings or some problems with working with the Pan and Zoom tool. I need
    your answers to help me help you. If I have written anything that you do not understand, please let me know. I will re-write if necessary
    so that we are in sync to resolve the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Javascript with window.location.href no longer working in Content Editor in Sharepoint 2010 where users have IE8

    I have recently found that when using a Sharepoint 2010 Content Editor web part to house some Javascript that the window.location.href (or window.location) is not working when the end users have IE8 installed on their PC's.  We have confirmed
    that the window.location.href is working if the users are on IE7 or Google Chrome with the same Javascript.  In addition, we added alert() to the javascript to ensure that it was infact running, which the alerts appeared on the screen with no issues.
    The result that I am receiving in IE8 is that when the window.location.href is set to the url that the user should be directed to, it simply refreshes the current page and leaves the user where they originally were.
    I have seen the posts to have my site setup as a Trusted Site, but this is not an option for our company as they defined all internal Sharepoint sites as trusted already.  Besides this, having all users go into their Internet Options is not really a
    solution but a means to annoy your users.
    What I am looking for is a permanent solution that I can make within my javascript that will work for both IE7 and IE8 users within a Sharepoint 2010 environment.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.  Thanks in advance.
    Below is a snipet from my javascript code for review:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function RedirectUrl() {
    alert('button pressed');
    var tb = document.getElementById("tbSearch").value;
    var cs = document.getElementById("sfield").value;
    var url = "";
    if (tb != "") {
    url = "FilterName=" + cs + "&FilterMultiValue=*" + tb + "*";
    if (cs == "Request%5Fx0020%5FID1"){
    alert("Request%20ID%20Search.aspx?" + url)
    window.location.href = "Request%20ID%20Search.aspx?" + url;
    else {
    window.location.href = "All%20Requests.aspx?" + url;
    else {
    return false;
    function ClearUrl() {
    window.location.href = "All%20Requests.aspx";
    </script>
    <br/>
    <span style="font-family: calibri; color: #000066; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold">Search</span>
    <br/>
    <span style="font-family: calibri; color: black">Search Field: </span>
    <select id="sfield" style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 10pt">
    <option value="Request%5Fx0020%5FID1">Request ID</option>
    </select> &#160;
    <span style="font-family: calibri; color: black">Search Text: </span>
    <input id="tbSearch" onkeypress="if (event.keyCode == 13) document.getElementById(&#39;btnSearch&#39;).click()" style="font-family: calibri"/>
    <button id="btnSearch" onclick="return RedirectUrl();" type="submit" style="font-family: calibri">Search</button>
    <button id="btnClear" onclick="return ClearUrl();" type="submit" style="font-family: calibri">Clear Search</button>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    <span style="font-family: calibri; color: #000066; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold">Search Results - All Requests</span>

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that the window.location.href not worked in IE 8.
    I think the issue
    is likely due to the value of your variables. If they contain special or invalid characters, those needs to be passed through
    encodeURIComponent before being assigned to window.location.href.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18278777/window-location-href-not-working-on-ie
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6297291/window-location-problem-in-ie
    You can also use the following methods to check whether it works.
    Window.navigate();
    Winodw.history.back();
    Self.location.href;
    Top.location;
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Disable link for a Image in Content editor web part

    Hi
    i want to disable hyperlink for a banner added using content editor web part. Instead of hiding using Target Audience, i want to disable the link.
    Please help me how can i achieve this?
    regards,
    Vinay
    Thanks and Regards, vinnu

    Hi Vinay,
    I recommend to disable the link for an image using Jquery in Content Editor web part.
    First, you need to use F12 tool in Internet Explorer(IE) to get the html tag for the image, and you’d better find the class or id value for the tag of the image.
    For example, if the class for the image is test, then the code should be:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $('.test').click(function(e) {
    e.preventDefault();
    </script>
    You can also paste the code of the image here for further research.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Custom SharePoint Master Page with Content Editor Web Part.

    Hi All,
    I have created a custom SharePoint Master Page to apply within my SharePoint Site and it was a success.
    When I want to add the content I have to use the script editor web part and add HTML snippets. Then the styles will reflect correctly. But when I use content editor web part some of the styles do not reflect. Lets assume that if I want to add a H2 with the
    custom color, the color do not show in the ribbon. And how SharePoint know that this is an <h2> and reflect the other styles like padding, margin and so on.
    Please can someone help me to solve this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chiranthaka

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to add CSS code in your customized Master Page with content editor web part.
    I tested your issue in SharePoint Designer, and I added CSS code successfully.
    I accomplish your requirement with steps below:
    Add a content editor web part in a list and add some CSS code in the web part.
    Open SharePoint Designer, enter the master page.
    Insert a content editor web part under INSERT tab in the Ribbon.
    Open the list that have edited in step1 in the SharePoint Designer.
    Copy code from the list to the Master Page as the screenshot below.
    The screenshot below is my result:
    In addition, why do not you add CSS code just with <style> tag in your page? Just add CSS code as below(in this method, you do not need any web part.):
    <style>
    h2{
    background-color:green;
    </style>
    Best Regards,

  • SharePoint 2013 Client Side People Picker in Content Editor Web Part

    Has anyone tried to use the client side people picker in a content editor web part? I have successfully got it to work in IE by adding all the script references and initialize function to the content editor web part. Now the strange part is, the people
    picker doesn't render in other browsers, I tried in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. Any ideas?

  • Target Audiences in Content editor web part created from Snippet Gallery

    Hi,
    I have created a Content editor web part from the Snippet Gallery in SP 2013 Office 365 and placed it in my master page.  It works, but not the Target Audiences.  It's linking to a text file which displays, but I only want certain AD groups
    to be able to view. Everyone can see the web part.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    I am having the same issue.  Did you ever resolve it?

  • Content Editor Web Part Blocked Me Out

    I was working on updating my department's Sharepoint site. While in Edit mode, I clicked
    on a link titled "Add a Web Part" and began looking at the different Web Parts to add. When I clicked on a blank one, I was unsure of what it would do, so I did not click add, I closed the screen with the "x" button thinking it would not
    save. I was wrong. After closing the screen and opening back up the page, all I see is is a bar saying "Content Editor Web Part" and I cannot access any of the links above to edit the page. Please help!!!

    Hello,
    It seems you have added the CEWP on page. To delete thsi webpart just open the page once again and add "?contents=1" at the end of URL. Now it will show all added webpart on page, you can delete unwanted webpart from page.
    Refer this link for shortcut links:
