Content Engine caching video content?

I am currently running ACNS version 5.5.11.2 on a CE510 Content Engine. I recently had to replace the unit and when I set up the partitions for the new build, I elected to go with CE510#disk config sysfs 10% cfs 45% mediafs 45%.
Before the cfs was setup to use the whole box. I was thinking that the mediafs partition would start to cache video content. Does that happen automatically or is there some other setting to make that happen further. How do I determine if it is getting any use?

A content engine can cache files transfered via ftp but not https [as the content is encrypted].
It can cache whatever file, including video, audio, ...
Content routing, content switching are just names.
They refer to how the traffic will be intercepted and forwarded to the content engine.
You could simply use a proxy solution and have your users setup their browser to use the content engine as a proxy, or you could transparently intercept http/ftp traffic via a router running wccp, or you could use a Layer7 device like a CSS to intercept the traffic and redirect to the content engine.

Clearing cached video files

Hi everyone, Im getting the error 50 message when trying to download films from itunes to my computer, Ive located the download folder
and moved the .tmp file to the recycle bin but not emptied the recycle bin, But can anyone tell me please exactly how do i clear

Regarding using itunes i have imported some music into itunes music library with no problem

i have downloaded the latest version of itunes and real player and last night i used misconfig tool, and disabled a lot of non essential
things from automatically loading/ booting themselves at start up [i was already getting the error 50 message before i did this so its not something i have messed up in there] I also checked in system manager and couldnt see anything using up excessive cpu usage in there,
I also uninstalled zone alarm, And disabled my anti vitus [panda cloud], and i stopped winpatrol from loading itself at start up not sure if i disabled it,
im not sure if i disabled my iobit or malwarebytes malware fighters.
i also went onto google and removed all the accelerators i could find
But i keep reading that if the problem in itunes is only with films/movies then deleting the.tmp file and empyting or clearing the video cache files in the download folder should solve iot which is why i was asking exactly how to clear/delete this cache as im not sure how to do this.
Lastly can i say that im using about a seven year old computer its running windows xp service pack3
its got a amd athlon xp 2800+ 2.07ghz 2.00gb of ram
the hard drive has a total space of 114gb with 92.2 gb of free space.
Sorry for making this a bit long winded but i thought i would give as much info as possible to see if it helps anyone to be able to help me

With iTunes closed you can delete the contents of iTunes\iTunes Media\Download to clear up any orphaned files or partial downloads.
With iTunes open use Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Cache to, um, clear the cache.

Please check the RFC destination "INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI" is working or not?
Check the parameters as suggested by others for this destination type.
Check the USER which is mentioned for this RFC destination is locked or not? if so please unlock it.
Try to change the pwd for this user and try again..

I am doing post installation step for Pi7.1 . during initial setup configuration . I have got error message . u201CProtocol of Step 'Executing BAPI SXMB_SET_ROLE_TO_ISu201D . I have try to resolve this error but I am not able to do so skip this step and completed resume setup .
after that I have check in SXI_CACHE, here I found that adapter engine cache is not display. please help me to resolve this issue.

I checked the service.sap.com and found a OSS note related "BAPI SXMB_SET_ROLE_TO_IS"
Pls check the OSS note - Note 1319873 - PI CTC: Error in "Executing BAPI SXMB_SET_ROLE_TO_IS"
Pls take opinion from SAP / Basis before implementing the OSS note

What if I want to LET USER CACHE videos streamed using FMS3?

For my new video website I want the users TO BE ABLE TO CACHE
but at the same time I want them to have the benefit of jumping
anywhere on the timeline to see only the part they are interested
in without downloading complete video (which can be done only
through streaming IMHO)
Is it possible in FMS3? any other solution?

The answer is "HTTP Streaming". In fact you don't need FMS if
you wish
to allow users to cache videos. You can use any webserver
with
PHP/MySQL. AFAIK, Google Video works just in this way. You

A potential solution occurred to me right after I posted, and I think it may be working. (Can't tell for sure until search engine cache's updated with this change.) Basically I expanded the .jar archive name:

</script>Before the change, the archive line simply referenced 'SIHwheel.jar'.
The one downside to this, assuming it works, is that I'll need two versions of the page. A local one on my hard drive for when I want to test before deploying, and the networked version with the full URL. That's a worthwhile trade-off, though.

PS: the link in first post still fails, but it seems to be accessing yesterday's version of the page (date on bottom). Also I note that the HTML for that Google-translated page and Bing's cache page contain:
<base href=http://www.r0k.us/graphics/SIHwheel.html />That works well for accessing all the locally-referenced images on the page, but for some reason fails to find the .jar file without a complete URL. The [url http://r0k.us/graphics/applet-fu.js]applet-fu.js script does not appearing to be adorning the archive line in any way.

Adapter Engine : Cache Connectivity Test

Hi,
We have recently migrated our PI system's database from one host to the other and as a result there were some duplicate entries for exchange infrastructure components in SLD.
At this besides other problems we have noticed the Adapter Cache Connectivity test is failing.
We have deleted these entries and check that all the required entries are there and they are correct.
After this we did the Adapter Engine Cache connectivity test it still failed. But after some time we noticed that the connectivty test is successfully happening without doing any changes.
We see green bulbs with cache notification from integration server received successfully and cache data fetched successfully and update.
We are just wondering how it happened ? appreciate if anybody can help us understand.

Where does Firefox cache videos? (I checked the Cache foler. Not there)

The FireFox' disk cache foler is set to ''D:\Cache'' (I set it so from about:config).
I cleared the disk cache, watched a YouTube video (almost 2 minute long), then looked into ''D:\Cache''. But the video I had watched was not there! (I found two .SWF files. But their sizes were smaller than 250K. And, stand-alone SWF players couldn't play them. Therefore, they can't be YouTube videos.)
So, where does Firefox cache videos?

Firefox doesn't cache videos on disk. The Flash player that plays the videos is in the cache, but the videos are streamed and not saved. They may be kept in the memory cache during the play.
You can check the cache on the about:cache page.

Content engine for video on the LAN

I have a video server on the LAN. I want to position the content engine on the LAN to use it for stream splitting to avoid loading the video server. Can i do this i.e. placing the Content engine on the same network as the source? Or could I use the Content engine module on the router. If so then how do I connect it?

Adapter Engine Cache Issue

In SXMB_MONI i got an error saying

My Analysis :
1, In SXI_CACHE i could see 'Unable to refresh cache contents' and 'Error during last attempt to refresh cache' also I could not see any entry in Adapter Engine Connection Data Cache.
2, when execute the RFC connection 'INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI' Its asking for userId and password .
3, I tried reset the password and do a JAVA restart again with same error.
Clarificaiton need :
1 Looks some authorization error , but where exactly to maintain this ,
2, How the adatper engince connection data will populate in to sxi_cache transaction.
could you guide me clearly for this issue.

now that Adaper engine url gotregistered , but no my cache content is not updating correctly , i.e when i execute the any cache refresh its loading for a long time and ending up an error and when i tried in Administator tool--> cache overivew > ID> and did cache refresh its end up with error.

Safari does not cache videos

Every time I visit a page with movies (quicktime even), Safari reloads the video as if there is no cache. If I use Firefox it does not need to reload the video, it just automatically plays the video from the cache. If I watch Apple Trailers or visit my own .mac website where I have uploaded my iWeb Quicktime films, I have to re-download movies every time I visit the page. I'm not pressing reload, I do have a 400MB cache set in Quicktime pro, I have the same problem on my iMac and my MacBook Pro, and like I said, Firefox does not have this issue. My Quicktime Pro Browser preferences are set to "play movies automatically" and "save movies in disk cache". I am using Safari 3.0.4. I have tried emptying the cache and starting over but I never get a movie to play that I've just viewed without waiting for it to load again. I am in China at the moment, but that shouldn't affect anything since Firefox is caching my movies.
Any ideas to solve this?

I wish I had the answer for you, because I posted a similar complaint weeks ago. Safari doesn't seem to cache images either. If I go to a page that's dynamically generated, then click a link on it, then use the back button, the original page reloads with all new content, instead of just going back to what was there before. It's very annoying.

HTTP VOD cached video

We have a digital signage system that references a VOD stream. Every week we that video changes, and the simplest method to update is overwrite the old video with the new video in the Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 4.5\webroot\vod directory. Our digital signage system simply looks for the same .mp4 filename at scheduled intervals. Our issue is for some reason it appears the Adobe Media Server is caching the VOD .mp4. Even though the video has the same file name, the content is different. But when played back through a web browser, it shows the old video. If I scrub forward several minutes into the video, the correct content displays. I've ruled out the digital signage system because I get the same results on several other computers.

Yes I have cleared my browsers cache, and tried on several other computers with the same results. So I think we can rule out that the viewing computers is not caching the content. Were do I find the configuration for caching on the server?

Is it possible to salvage cached videos from iPhone?

I have videos that I've downloaded (cached) from YouTube to my phone using a downloader app on my iPhone 5. Since I upgraded to the 5s, I've tried finding all the videos again using the same app but some of them have since been deleted from YouTube, and the only copies I have are cached in the app on my 5. I have first searched everywhere on the internet with no luck, then tried to find a way to get them off my phone and save them somehow. And after searching for a few days the only solution I can come up with is to set up a camera and record the screen of the 5. I will do that if I have to, but I want to see if there is any other way before I go that route. Plus the only decent camera I have is on the 5s and I was going to use that but the audio wouldn't come out too good. If anyone out there can help me at all I greatly appreciate it. I want to get this done as soon as possible so I can restore the phone and sell it. Thanks!

Would a cache engine cache an incomplete file download ?

I recently tried to download a large file from the internet and half way through
I cancelled it. Later on I downloaded the file again, can anyone tell me if part of
the file was cached and I received that the second time or was it a new download ?

When an object is requested, the Cache Engine checks if it has a copy of the requested object in storage. If it has it the Cache Engine sends the user the object. Otherwise, the Cache Engine gets the requested objects from the web server, stores a copy of the objects (caches them), and simultaneously forwards the objects on to the user.
So I think that the part of the download before you cancelled it, should have been served from the cache.
You may however confirm this using the Squid log and check if it is a HIT.
