Content Filtering for new tablets

We did this last year with our tablets. We went with iboss filtering which I highly recommend but it looks like you have web filtering in place so you would need to proxy the internet traffic. Contact the tech support of your web filtering and explain them what you need to do and they will tell you what needs to be done on your end. Then you would have to create configuration profile and push (you need MDM here) the proxy configurations to your tablets.

Hello all,
I work for a local high school and they just bought tablets for all of the kids to use during the school year. They are wanting content filtering while they are at school, which we have, but they are also wanting "off site" filtering as well. What/How is the easiest way to set that up? We currently have a Cisco Meraki firewall setup for the high school.

  • Time for new tablet?

I purchased my ipad2, MC755LL, 14 GB, Version 4.3.3 about three years ago.  It won't let me update or download any apps.  Is there a way of doing this, or is it time to get a new tablet?

The iPad 2 can be upgraded to iOS 8 (most recent).
If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • Content filtering for Public WiFi

About 2 years ago, we set up free public wifi for our county park/zoo (we're government) and are using OpenDNS Umbrella services.  During the summer months, we have about 5k visitors/day, and during peak days, about 10k visitors/day.  We only really need a content filter for these people because it's a totally different pipe from our business network.  The OpenDNS solution works good for us, but it gets a little pricey because they charge per AP (we're running Ruckus AP's if anyone's curious).
The cost really hasn't really been an issue, but we're adding another 40 AP's for a different campus (Healthcare setting, residents) and the price per AP will start to add up.
Anyone have suggestions for any other solutions that might work in this scenario?

Content filtering can be very important. You can limit certain services with our FamilyBase service http://vz.to/MYAZU9 What type of services/content were you looking to filter?

  • Special Filters for New Demosaic Process

I know it is too late for LR3 but I am thinking for v3.1 it might be  nice to add a special filter capability (or smart collection) that would  allow us to identify those images that we have applied levels of  sharpness and luminance noise reduction above "x" amount.  This would  allow me some comfort in converting all prior images to the new demosaic  algorithms, i.e., the 2010 process.  Since the 2003 process is not truly the old methodology but instead a reasonable representation of the results  we obtained from the 2003 method but using some subset of the new  process, I am thinking of just converting all my images to the 2010 process.  However, my  observation from testing is that certain images which have significant sharpening and  luminance noise reduction are likely to be a bit overdone with this changeover.  Therefore, I would like  to be able to quickly identify those mages with sharpening above say 50 and luminance NR  above 70.

    Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,

  • LR 4 on Android for New Tablets??

My partner and I have been looking at tablets thinking it would be great to have the flexibility to use the tablet not just for slideshows or portfolio showing, but also for working with catalogs while we're on a trip.
It would be great to be able to have our catalog portable in this way, to import our images from a CF or SD card to the tablet's hard drive (or a USB attached HDD) and begin tagging and working through them while away from home.
BUT, it appears that there is no android version of LR.  Not even in the creative cloud.
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it looks like our only option is some sort of ultrabook with windows 7.
    Anyone have other ideas?
Adobe -- are you listening? Is there any support for an Android version of LR in the wings?
This would be incredibly neat to be able to sit on the plane and use LR to keyword and rate images while heading back home or anywhere without having to lug the full-sized laptop along.
    Other's thoughts?
    Thanks for your ideas/input!
    Cheers,
    - Bonnie

  • Are Content Filters available from Verizon for Apple iPhone 5c?

I noticed that Verizon offers Content Filters for my kids' Apple iPhone 4, but one is not offered for the 5c.  Is that correct?
If so, what are some good alternatives for a dad concerned about his son's access to the garbage on the interweb?

CluelessDad We understand the importance of content filtering for your devices. The 4g apple devices do not support our content filtering options. You can try going into the settings for the brwoser on the device settings, general, restrictions and restrcition options.

  • Does the ASA5525-K9 support Content filtering?

    Hi,
I know the 5510 & 5520s support the CSC-SSM module for Content Filtering (Anti-Phishing, Anti Spam, URL filtering,
Anti-Spyware & Antivirus), but what about content filtering for the ASA5525-K9.
The problem that I have is that I need a firewall that supports up to 1 Gbps Maximum Firewall Throughput and to support 250 users with Content Filtering described above.
I'm using the following doc for sizing and came across the ASA5525-K9 for 1 Gbps, but not sure about the Content filtering:

No, the new X series ASA does not support Content Filtering CSC module.
Here is what is supported on the new ASA5525-X for your reference:

  • Does "first match" win on Content Filters?

If I define multiple content filters for a given outbound mail policy, would system stop looking at filters once a match is found on one of the content filters or should I force that by using a "final" action in my content filters?
I know "first match wins" apply to some other scenarios, but couldn't see a clear explanation to above question in section 6 of Config guide where content filters are defined (and testing with system did not clear that for me either).
    Thanks.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

    Hello John,
An emaill being processed by the content filters or messages filters will continue down the list of  content/message filters until it hits the last filter or a 'final' action filter command.   If the email being processed needs to exit (by administrative choice), the filter it hits, should have a final action.  This only applies to certain conditions, where the administrator does not want the filter's last action to be overwritten by another filter down the pipeline.

  • DKIM/DomainKeys Content Filters Best Practices?

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has some best practices on implementing content filters for domain keys/dkim results on incoming mail. I am having a tough time figuring out a good solution to this problem as we have various users who also subscribe to mailing lists, which obviously break domain keys if the server doesn't resign the message?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
SDN is using Web Page Composer. You should also take a look into WPC for publishing EFP. WPC is based on KM, but has several advantages over XML Forms.
    Regarding the security aspect:
There are several SDN articles / documentations about how to implement an EFP (like: Look & Feel, Framework Pages and Portal Navigation).
You can restrict access for anonymous users - in fact, you'll have to explicitly allow access for anonymous users. If you don't like that your users can access something else than /etc/public/, just don't give the guest user read access. You can alsouse a reverse proxy to allow access to only the necessary KM folders and redirect the rest to the start page.

  • Re: content filters not available

Branched from content filters not available
AdaS (or anyone else @ VZW) --
So... Here we are again. It is now a year since the issue was originally raised on here.
Why does Verizon not want to develop content filters for customers on their 4G network with 4G LTE phones?? What are consumers not being told?
The 3G content filter was developed by Verizon to allow the user filtering controls on the Verizon network. We want Verizon to replicate what it did for their 3G network and do the same when our 4G phones access their 4G network. What's the big deal??
Please stop the running-in-circles-game. Don't keep sending us to the various manufacturers. That is not where the answer is. Why is this issue not important enough for Verizon to have addressed it by now?
I apologize if I may be coming across as less than pleasant, but why does this have to be so frustrating??
Message was edited by: Admin Moderator

I think you misunderstand.  This thread is looking for the network content filtering to be available.  The S4 does not have content filtering as it has no options available when logged into my account.  The filtering you just suggested simply limits what apps you can choose to download out of the play store, not filtering the web traffic on the device.
I checked out the link you sent, and under Family Safeguards and Controls, the option we are all wanting is the “Content Filters”.  However, these are the ones that simply display “Content Filters Not Available” when you go to configure them on your account.
The question is, when is it going to be available or is it never?  If not, what 4G phones will it work on if any?
This was an awesome feature with the 3G phones, but is a major loss so far with the 4G.

  • Internet content filters

Any way to provide content filtering for web access (aka: block porn, etc.)? The previously posted solution was "Unite" software which is no longer available.

I would recommend Content Barrier (www.intego.com), although I think it does block sites based on a list, it is very good and will monitor the admin account as well. Plus a trial version is available which is always a plus.
The only content filter that monitors based on actual site content is DansGuardian which is free, but I found a pain to set up. Still, it's worth trying if you can find a decent mac setup guide. A mac version is available here: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/DansGuardian.shtml, and the DansGuardian homepage is here: http://dansguardian.org/
