Content in box

How important is the content that comes with the final cut studio 2 box? I am only planning to use final cut pro, and DVD studio pro. Will content be lacking in those applications?

For FCP, you just need the application.
For DVD SP there are some templates.
However, neither of the installs are very large as compared to Motion and Live Type.

Problems with html content in box

Hi! I have a problem with html content. For example photoswipe. If I import the folder with the index.html of photoswipe as an article all works fine. If I link it trough the folio overlay creator/webcontent) into a box in indesign dps, it stays empty. Seems like it doesnt find the images/paths??

This sounds familiar. PhotoSwipe doesn't seem to like working in a web content overlay unless the JavaScript and other source files are uploaded within HTMLResources. This means editing your local HTML file so that paths to the JavaScript, images and CSS files begin by pointing to HTMLResources virtual folder (../../../HTMLResources/) before their subfolder and filenames. It's worth a try.

Active content(white box) frames problem

I downloaded the update to flash to get rid of the white box.
I used it on flash menu for a 2 frame page. Now the menu doesn't
work in the frameset. If I click on the flash menu itself it opens
the link and if I open it on the published page or a single page it
will open the links but when I put it into the framest the button
doesn't do anything. any ideas why this is happening?thanks

Actually VIEW all the content not boxes?

I'm new to flash, but I have a premade design and i'm trying to modify the .fla but it's sort of a pain.. I'm scrolling through the flash via timeline and I'm wanting to SEE all the pictures, movies, motions etc not just random flying empty boxes or outlines. I've made sure the little eye is open where I can see everything and I've tried checking and unchecking the outline box.. so how can it be done?
Basically.. is there anyway to view / scroll through the timeline as other people see it when it's compiled as a .swf movie instead of just as a rough 'sketch' .. it's so hard to see how it looks modifying pieces through the library then Having to view the movie each and every time.. *sigh*

Might be a bit hard to see.. added some text for reference.. >.> When I drag the timeline I'd like to see the picture and the background and such.. only way i can SEE the background while moving the timeline is by clicking the outline box at the bottom left.. it's frustrating..

Youview box will not stream On demand content, rec...

I'm new to the forum, I just had my BTvision box replaced with a Youview box, Youview works fine, accessing On Demand content the box just freezes and gives a ghost image of the last channel watched
Recorded content on Youview is completely corrupt
The box is hardwired with a new cable
I have a blu-ray player also connected by cable to the router and it streams Iplayer just fine

Content Server problem after 5.0.2 upgrade

We've just upgraded our staging environment from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 and have lost all branding. The diagnostic script reports the following error:

I tried resolving both the file location and the http address from within the Content Server box and was able to without problem so I know it's not these it can't see.
I checked the pcs.log and the following error is reported:

It appears that the Content Server is trying to access this xml file via the public url for the image server which, due to firewall configurations in this environment, it won't be able to do. I'd like to be able to change how it looks for this file to be http://<SERVERNAME>/imageserver rather than http://<PUBLICURL>/imageserver
Where is it getting this from for me to change it?

Hi Diane,
No, we haven't fully resolved this yet. In addition to the issue listed we've come across a number of others that look like problems from install. We've reached the point where it's looking more effective to try and uninstall Content Server and do a clean install from scratch rather than debug every little thing.
As part of the new install we're changing the architecture to create an internal ImageServer on the CS server and then use a scheduled task to push everything out to the external ImageServer on the portal box overnight. This should get around a number of the firewall and dns issues currently making communication between the two quite difficult.
We recently installed another 5.0.2 portal in a different environment and have had none of the same issues with it so we're a little perplexed. When we get this resolved I'll be happy to write a note about what it was. In the meantime if you get anywhere with yours please let us know.

How can I read paragraph box scale?

I am trying to read the values off some text boxes in photoshop for an exporter script that I am working on. I ran into an issue that I can't figure out, hopefully it's just a small thing.
When reading the values from paragraph text, there are some instances in which the values will come out wrong. For example:
I have a layer with paragraph text in it that says its paragraph size (text box) is 400 px by 400 px and the font size is 60 pt.
If I run a script similar to this:

Which is obviously wrong because all the values are half of what they should be. I have other paragraph text layers in the same file that print out the correct values!
After trying a bunch of different things I figured a way to reproduce the error, but not a way to correct it, here it is:
- Create a new paragraph text layer by clicking and dragging using the text tool, make the text box roughly 200 px by 200 px
- Type some text in the box
- Select the text and make it 30 pt in size
- Finish editing the text
- Make sure the text layer is selected
- Press command+t (ctrl+t in windows)
- In the free transform parameters, manually type 200% for both with and height
- Accept the transformation changes
- Use the text tool and select the text from the layer
At this point you will notice that the text box reports its size as 400 px by 400 px and the font size says 60 pt, so far everything makes sense, the issue comes when you look at the info tab, the scale is reported as 200% for both width and height and if I use the previous script the sizes printed are the original sizes of the text box: 200 px by 200 px and 30 pt for the font size.
At first I though it would be as easy as using the verticalScale and horizontalScale properties of TextItem like so:

Unfortunatelly I do not have control over how the content is created so I can't avoid the use of the transform tool on pararaph text, or all text for that matter (this issue also affects the font size in single line text layers). So I need to find a reliable way to either read the correct values from the text or to read the scale which is affecting the text within my layer.

I tested that this returns correct values both when image and text box get scaled. There is some strange Photoshop behaviour to note though:
bounds.left seems to be always 0 like one could assume
bounds.top on the other had is most times -1-3px. This probably corresponds to the amount the actual text rises above the text box. I feel it's a bug, i.e. it should be part of content bounding box, not the text area. But maybe it's like it was specced and I'm just interpreting it wrong.
x_scale and y_scale seem to be always equal. For example if you create a 100x100px text box and scale it to 200px horizontally, both x_scale and y_scale will be 2 and text_item.height will be 50.

Text control boxes in PDF's created in InDesign

Not sure if this was the best place to post this, but I'm new to using InDesign and not sure who to ask. Here is my dilemma:
I have created an exercise book in Word. There are various sections, some have questions while others are more of a journal. I have added a Rich text Content control box which will allow users to type in their answers or add daily content to the journal and the boxes expand as long as they are inserting text. The section breaks keep the headers and footers in the correct placement. This also allows them to print the document with all of their answers showing.
Now, the problem is that, while the client likes this, they don't like that the headers and footers are grayed out and the colors are not as vibrant in Word as the program part I created and saved as a PDF. They also don't like that if we keep this as a Word document, all the text is editable.
So my question is, can I create a PDF that has the same features with the expandable text control boxes. If I can, would you recommend InDesign to do this?

They're being a bit impractical in their complaints, in fact they remind me of my Dad! The final product is still fine.

That's fair enough, the solution would be to make the text in the header and footer an image instead.

No you can't. I'm pretty sure you can't create a PDF with expandable boxes and I'm very sure that you can't create a PDF that will add pages with headers and footrs. However you can create a PDF with basic fillable text boxes, they're called forms and you need Acrobat as well to do it, google it and you'll find plenty of info.

Enable reporting of offensive content not working in sharepoint 2013 community site

i am trying to enable "Report to moderator option" in community site but when i checked option "Enable reporting of offensive content" in a community site settings and clicked Ok. I am getting an error "The file is not checked out.You
must first check out this document before making changes."
i am not sure why i am getting this error, the same thing works fine in other community site's i have created.
This community is a backup restore of another community site.
Is there any other way by which i can enable 'reporting of offensive content'.
Any pointer's to solve this will be helpful.

On the Community tools web part on your community home page, click
Community settings.

Table of Contents Bug?

I downloaded a trial of CS 6 recently and for the first time today I tried to make a table of contents. I've really never had trouble with this tool but in CS6 something strange keeps happening. I have styles applied correctly—I've double checked—but when I try to pull them into a TOC it doesn't work. I can view them in the Table of Contents dialog box and I put them in to the 'Include Paragraph Styles' column. It reads through my very long book and then at the end only pulls from the first couple documents in the book.
Honeslty, I'm stumped. I've tried it a couple times different ways and the same thing's happened. Has anyone else had this problem?
Backgroud: I'm using a macbook pro laptop running Lion. My book is a complicated 150 page class manual so there's plenty of other possible problems that could be causing this but I can't find anything.
UPDATE: I think I've fixed the problem, but I'm not sure so I'm going to leave this in case someone else has the same thing happen.

I didn't resolve the problem yet. But I discover that the TOC is indexing by the number of the pages.
I created one more title in another page (in red) and the items goes to after the item that I create. See it:

Search of PDF content not working within SharePoint 2003

Unable to get any search results for filenames that include underscores and any PDF document content. Confirmed that search is working correctly otherwise.
PDF file types have been included in the SharePoint search.
Was using ifilter 6.0 installed on entire SharePoint farm, including SQL server backends.
Per Adobe support, updated to Reader 9 which includes ifilter 9. Same results.

Dynamic footer row prints outside the content area

Hi,
I'm using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1. I also have a web application injecting data into the report I created with LiveCycle. The basic structure is the following:
1 Master page with 1 page and a content area containing a table filled with a list of object. My table has 1 header row, 2 body rows and a footer row that is added dynamically with page break condition.
The logic behind that is written in FormCalc. Our objects are sent as a list which fills either one or the other body row based on a type. Each object has an "authority" property with a certain value that are used to mark the pages. The list of object is sorted by authority. So, when the current iterating object has a different authority than the previous one, we insert a page brake and the footer row. Everything is wraped in a subform that is "In Content Area" (Object/Pagination/Place).
The problem is that the footer row is not considered as part of the content area. If the last line of a section fits tight in the content area, the footer row overflows outside the content area and even the whole page in some cases.
Here are more details:
We tried any combination of subform wraping and ticking of the "Allow page break with content" check box.
We tried changing the type of the footer row for a body row in case footers were different than body rows.
We tried every combination of "Keep with" and "place".
We tried to change the footer row to a body row and have it displayed on every page and that work, but our client refused the solution...
Starting with the above (pt 4) template and changing back the body to footer row brought us to the begining
To the best of our knowledge, we tried everyting possible...
What I'm looking for is either a confirmed bug for version 8.2.1 about this or a solution other than redesigning the whole report.

I know this might no help to solve my issue, but this document doesn't belong to me and I'm afraid I cannot share the file on the internet. It belongs to our client to whom we offer support on this. You know... I'd probably lose my job!
Though, I've been trying with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 11.0.0 and the same problem occurs. It looks like the row is added to the table after the whole document was produced, so it seems to be working as designed.

"content preparation" "please wait while document is prepared for reading"

Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.0.0 running under Windows XP 32-bit) pauses frequently with a pop-up labeled "Content Preparation" and "Please wait while the document is prepared for reading". This popup occurs at random times. I am trying to fill out a lengthy grant application form, and this pop-up steals the keyboard in the middle of my filling in the blanks, so that my form is riddled with typos. Help! How do I stop this pop-up from appearing? This problem started maybe one month ago.

Regarding the long pauses in Acrobat during which it pops up a "content preparation box" and steals the keyboard input, I tried many things (reinstalling, etc). The problem now seems to be solved. The step that appears to have fixed the problem was as follows (windows XP) Start > accessories > accessibility. Within accessibility I opened every dialog box and unchecked every checkbox. (I have no idea how they got checked in the first place.) Apparently there are no settings in Acrobat itself that affect this behavior.

"Convert Active Content" problem

Recently, I opened an html page in DW8, and a dialogue box
appeared called "Convert Active Content". It said "This page
contains <object> tags that may not work properly in the most
recent versions of Internet Explorer. To correct this problem, you
can convert these tags to browser-safe scripts. Do you want
Dreamweaver to convert these tags for you?" So, being the trusting
soul that I am, I clicked "yes." But when I uploaded my page, I
could not see the Flash videos that I had put in this page. The
same thing happened with another page. So I created new pages, and
clicked on "no" when the "Convert Active Content" dialogue box
appeared, and my Flash videos appear again.
I really would like to avoid the annoying double-clicking
that has to happen with the new IE browser whenever I include Flash
content, but this work-around does not work. Any ideas?

You were right to say you wanted DW to "convert these tags to
browser-safe
scripts." What you didn't do was upload the SCRIPTS directory
that DW
created. Try doing that and all should be well.

I have Java enabled in options -content but Microsoft help and community sites do not recognize this

when I try to search Microsoft Help and click on a link, I get redirected to a page which tells me that my browser cannot accept stuff and I need to turn on Java. But under firefox - tools - options - content the box for Enable Java has a tick in it

Type '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and hit Enter. <br />
Does '''Java''' appear in that window?
You can also look in Tools > Addons > Plugins and see if Java is listed there AND see if it is enabled.
