Content Management Roles in SAP

Hello Everyone,
There are three Content Management Roles provided by SAP, but when we search for these roles in User Administration -> Roles,  only one Content Management role is shown up. Can anyone explain ??

Hello,
If u search for "Content Manager" in  the search tab under Content Administration role, u'll b able to see 3 Content Manager roles as follows:
Content Manager with PCD Location   "pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.km.ContentManager/com.sap.km.ContentManager"
Content Manager with PCD Location
"pcd:portal_content/specialist/contentmanager/ContentManager"
Content Manager with PCD Location "pcd:portal_content/specialist/contentmanager/com.sap.km.ContentManager"
But if u do the same search in User Administration -> Roles, only one Content Manager role with PCD location "pcd:portal_content/specialist/contentmanager" is shown up. This was what I meant.
Any idea on the same?

  • How to create content bearing role in SAP BW/BI

We are configuring the Integration Kit for SAP and are at a place where we can now save a Crystal Report into a SAP BI role. How do you make a role a content bearing role so you can save a report into the role?

    Hi Mike
Please have a look at the Installation Manual for the Integrated SAP Solutions. It lists the permissions you need for the content bearing role

  • Managing Roles in SAP

I'd like to get some feedback from anyone with experience managing a large number of SAP roles (80) in a very large organization (over 40,000 people). I am looking for data points on how many personnel were required to manage the effort? Any special tools required/utilized? Any issues or problems experienced, such as time to respond, etc.. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or comments.

There are literally hundreds of roles delivered with SAP BW, some of which are specifically for BW and some for other areas within NetWeaver techologies (e.g. SAP XI et. al.). There are greater than 500 roles that come delivered specifically for BW and therefore are too numerous to mention in a forum posting.
The main BW developer role, however, is SAP_BW_DEVELOPER. Developers would also need the SAP_BC* roles too for ABAP development if there are any plans to do development beyond using the BW Workbench (RSA1). For instance, if any custom tables or ABAP programs are desired to be created in your BW development environment, using SE11 and SE38 respectively, they're going to have to have other roles. We copied delivered roles and created custom roles for our developers so that our security team didn't have to assign a multitude of roles to new developers, instead it's just one role.

  • KM Content Management Repository

    Dear All,
We have installed EP7.0 SP10, I would like to strore documents can we use KM internal repsotiory if so do we need to do some configurations. please provide more details on this.
    Regards,
    Murali

    Hi Murali,
After the completion of the installation for usage type EP, you need to perform a number of configuration tasks to enable the basic use of Knowledge Management (KM). These tasks are essential to enable minimal use of KM features. To enable full use of all features, you need to install the Search and Classification Engine (TREX) and configure the scenario Enterprise Knowledge Management.
Specification of the Portal address to enable KM to generate URLs for services.
    Specifying the Portal URL
    System administrator
Configuration of communication channels to enable the use of subscriptions and notifications
    Configuring Channels
    System administrator
Configuration of local editing to allow users to check out documents and edit them with applications of their own choice.
    Enabling Local Editing
    System administrator
Assignment of the content manager role to a user who is responsible for organizing content creation, access and publication.
    Assigning the Content Manager Role
    User administrator
Assignment of tasks to instances of KM running in a SAP J2EE cluster. This step is only necessary for a cluster installation.
Cluster Only: Assigning Tasks to Nodes
    System administrator
Removal of the cluster setting. This step is only necessary if one instance of KM is running on a single machine, for example, on a test or demo system.
Single Instance Only: Removing the Cluster Setting
    System administrator
Optional removal of the Search field and Advanced Search option in the Portal. If your installation does not include the Search and Classification engine (TREX), which enables the use of search within KM, you can hide the search feature.
Installation Without TREX: Hiding the Search Field
    Content administrator
    Assignment of permissions to folders.
    Setting Permissions
    Content administrator
Permissions define which users have which access rights for items in KM repositories (folders, documents, and links).
You need read permission for the item in question in order to display its permissions.
You must be entered in the list of permission owners in order to change the permissions.
There are two types of permission in Knowledge Management:
    Permissions (for the item itself)
These permissions define permission to read, write, and delete items.
You can set the permissions for all items (folders, documents, links).
    Service Permissions
Service permissions define permissions for functions that are provided by KM services, such as subscriptions.
You can only set service permissions for folders.
In the folder hierarchy of a KM repository, permissions are inherited by subordinate folders from superordinate folders.
When you create a new item in a KM folder, the item initially has no access control list. Instead, it inherits the permissions of the superordinate folder.
When you change and save the permissions, the system creates a separate ACL for the item in question. Inheritance no longer takes place. From this point on, changes to the permissions of the superordinate folder are no longer inherited by the subordinate object.

    Hello, All
As for portal 7.3,  I can not find the following portal role available:
    pcd:portal_content/specialist/contentmanager/ContentManager
I am trying to configure repository manager but the following path is not visible to me:

To make the "Knowledge Management" visible, I try to assign "ContentManager" role to my user account, but I can not find this role.
My user account was created as a copy of the administrator user so that it should have all authorizations.
    My question:
How to make "Knowledge Managment" visible to me in portal 7.3?
Does "content" related roles help to make "Knowledge Managment" visible to user?

  • SAP Content Manager

My client is looking into document management and is considering SAP Content Manager to store their paper invoices.  I am interested in SAP customer credentials regarding SAP Content Manager's ability to handle the following requirements:
    - Storage of 400k invoices per year
    - Retention period of 7 years (after which documents are destroyed)
    - Yearly growth of 10% more invoices than the previous year
    - 3 pages per invoice
    - Storage per page of 50KB
    - On-line availability through retention period
-> Result is ~550GB stored after 7 years
I am also interested in other 3rd-party recommendations such as Documentum (even though I am posting to an SAP forum site )

    Hi,
Only for major Support Package Stacks (09, 12, 15), SAP provides Development News on the content.
So, there is no document available for SP13.
Support Package Stack 15 was released end of February 2008.

  • Enterprise Content Management is it std SAP Module?

    hi, all
Enterprise Content Management is it std SAP Module?
if yes where i can find in ECC-6
    ben

    Hi Benake,
Enterprise Content Management is a concept and if I understand correctly SAP provides a set of tools to manage it.( Refer to wikipedia for a broad overview on EnterpriseContentManagement).
For example the SAP portal is a tool where your content is displayed. You can set up the SAP content servers to store and retrieve the content. You use the trex search functionality to search your content. In short it is a brief set of tools that  SAP provides,
    Hope this clarifies,

  • Display of SOFM (SAP E-Mail) in PCUI (Via Content Management)

    Dear Group,
we would like to integrate SOFM-Documents in our PCUI (CaseManagement).
There does not seem to be a functionality like this. Even if we would convert the SOFM in the right way into binary tables to integrate it in the CM, the browser would recognize it as a binary stream - and not display it as an "e-mail like" object.
So - any ideas? Convert in in something else?
The least solution would be to extract all infos (text, reciever, sender, attachments) and store them seperately - but this would be very poor!
As always: Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Hi
Check these configurations are done already.
    1. Mail transport settings in system admin > system config > collaboration > groupware transports > mail transport
    2. Lotus notes settings in system admin > system config > collaboration > groupware transports > lotus transport
    3. Activate mailing service in system admin > system config > KM > content management > global services > send mail service

  • Error while trying to edit in Bea Portal Administration Content Management

    Hi,
we are exploring the weblogic portal administration 9.2 and we encounter an exception when editing a content in the Content Management feature. We use the weblogic default workflow, we create a user attached to a group, add that group to a role, then delegate the edit and view capability of a content node in the Content Management to that role, we login using the respective user, check out the content, try to edit the property but then the exception occurs.
It says "A Repository Exception was thrown: User does not have view privileges on the node"
the detail exceptio on the property page was:
"javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Could not find a node at the key: nodeReqAttr
    at com.bea.jsptools.content.node.ViewPropertyTag.doStartTag(ViewPropertiesTag.java374)
    at jsp_servlet._contenet._node._nodeselected._properties._listpropertiescheckout._jsp_tag46 ...."
Could u help us what step we went wrong, because we previously try this in the WLP 8.1.4 portal administration the exact same step but never encounter this error before.
And is there anyway I can atteched screenshots to help better explain this problem?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
You have to set your activex control properly. then only edit locally in KM will work.
    Also check the below wiki

  • Problem with CRM Content Management

    Hi all,
I'm trying to specify a default folder template to use in business transactions, in order to show a default path in "Attachments" tab.
I have configurated my template folder using the following IMG path:
    CRM-Basic Functions-Content Management-Define Templates for Folders.
Now I suppose that I have to assign this template to a business object (for example, BUS2000111) in similar way as when I assign a folder path to a business partner role (CRM-Master Data-Business Partner-Basic Settings-Assign Templates for Content Management Folder to BP Roles).
The problem is that I can't find the exact customizing point to do this.
It's neccesary for the described configuration use the Document Modeler Workbench (DMWB)?
It's possible to configure a default folder for business transactions or it's only a business partners or products feature?
    Could anybody help me please?
    Regards

  • Content Management problem

    Hello all,
I am working with KM 5.0 SP 5 on two different portal environments, dev and qa. Everything seems to be working fine in qa (we installed there first), but I cannot get content management working in dev. Unfortunately, when we installed in qa, we had lots of problems getting it to work and did not get a good procedure documented for configuring content management.
The problem that I'm having is when I go to 'Collaboration Admin', I receive an error in 'Initial Role Assignment' that reads:
    Java iView Runtime
    Version : 5.0.200212121529
    (c) 2001 SAP Portals
The following exception occurred while processing your request:
    com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException:  Exception ID 07:51_04/02/05_0014
I get the same thing when I click on the 'Collaboration Room Administration', 'Initial Role Assignment', and 'Template Builder' iViews in the 'SAP Collaboration Room - Infrastructure: Collaboration Admin' channel.
I have installed the following business packages in dev:
BP Collaboration Room - General Template_50_1_1
    BP Collaboration Room - Infrastructure_50_1_1
    SP_FCS_SAP Collaboration Room - Infrastructure_50_1_5
BP Collaboration Room - Project Template_50_1_1
    Business Package for Portal Users_50_5_1
    BUSINESS PACKAGE FOR COMMUNICATION_50_4_6
Something interesting that I've noticed is the 'Collaboration Room Administration' iView. There appears to be some differences in the names of the Java attributes for this iView in dev and in qa. In qa, where the iView works, there are attributes called:
Technical Name of WhoIsWhoMini Java iView
Technical Names of Room Template Worksets (Separated By Semi-Colons)
But in dev, the same attributes are called:
    Name of WhoIsWhoMini Java iView
    Names of Room Template Worksets
Both iViews are based on the com.sapportals.pct.troom.ad.trwizard iView. I'm guessing that indicates some sort of inconsistancy between the instances, but I don't know where to look. I don't know if this is related to the Java error that I'm getting when I try to preview the iView, but I thought I would mention it.
Can anyone give me some insight on what to do here?
    Thanks!
    -Stephen Spalding
