Content parsing of the sharepoint 2010 doc library documents
Can we parse the content of document(word, excel, ppt, pdf) which is uploaded to the SharePoint 2010 library.
My requirement is to check that if there is any word (which is sensitive) and matches to my regexp should be blocked while adding the item or updating the item in the library.
Is there any out of the box feature available to parse the content or how can we do it pro-grammatically.
Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to check the document content when item adding or updating.
We can create an Event Receiver for the document library and we can use Open XML framework to read documents in
ItemAdding and ItemUpdating methods.

SharePoint 2010 Slide Library Unable To Select Managed Metadata When Publishing.
Hello,
I'm running into some problems with Managed Metadata when uploading (publishing) slides in a SharePoint 2010 Slide Library. If I have Managed Metadata Site Columns that are set to be required in my slide library, and I publish my slide(s) into the
SharePoint 2010 Slide Library I'm not prompted to enter in my required Metadata before the slide is published. The slide will upload, but then I would need to edit the slide and then enter in the required Metadata.
If I create a new column with a type set to Choice for example, and set it to be required and I upload (publish) a slide I'm now prompted to enter in the required Metadata, but all the Managed Metadata choices are grayed out and I'm unable to select anything.
I'm able to select a Choice for the new column.
Is this a bug within SharePoint 2010 that does not allow me to enter in Required Managed Metadata Tags on uploading (publishing) slides?
Regular document libraries work just fine with required Managed Metadata.
Thanks for any assistance.

v/r JShidellHi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the Managed Metadata not prompted to enter value in the required metadata.
I had tested with this issue, and I found the same issue.
We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.
Again, thank you for your report which will definitely make SharePoint a better products. There might be some time delay.

Cannot Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library
I have the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Release v1.0, Internet Explorer version 10 (10.0.9200.17183), Office 2013 Professional 32-bit, and a SharePoint 2010 environment. I cannot publish slides to the SharePoint environment at all. When
I attempt to do so from PowerPoint 2013, I receive an error indicating all slides (X of X) failed to upload. When I attempt to use the option in the SharePoint 2010 Slide Library (Upload > Publish Slides) I receive the error of "This feature
requires Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007. Either the application is not installed, or your browser is not configured to support ActiveX controls."
I have added the URL for the site in question to my "Trusted Sites" in Internet Explorer 10. I read through the KB 2716529. There is no TabProcGrowth registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but there is one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
and the value is set to "Medium" which appears to be accurate. I tried running the "Fix it For Me" option offered with that KB, and the wizard indicated the problem could not be found on my computer.
How can I resolve this issue? Utilizing slide libraries is a very important feature of SharePoint for my organization, and going back to Office 2010 is simply not an option. Hi Jen_O,
According to your description, my understanding is that you were unable to publish Slides into SharePoint 2010 with Office 2013.
For narrowing this issue, let's verify the followings:
Please test on other machines with the same system configuration, compare the result.
Please test on other machines with 32-bit system and IE 10, compare the result.
Whether you are able to publish Slides from Windows 7 and Office 2013 32-bit.
Whether this issue occurres for all slide files with Office 2013.
Please create a new slide in PowerPoint 2013, and check if it could be uploaded into a new Slide library.
In addition, Office Web Apps (as part of SharePoint 2010) allow SharePoint users to view and edit Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) from within the browser. Typically we can click on a link to a PowerPoint, for example in a document library,
and be taken to a new page to present PowerPoint.

Preset default value of DropDown based on Content Type selection in the SharePoint 2010 library
Hi,
I have three site content types (Admin, Technical & Well) derived from base content type "Base" and added this content types to "Documents" library. I also have one site column "Category"(Dropdown) with values (Admin, Technical
& Well) which is available in all the content types.
Now, when i try to create a document based on "Admin" content type then "Category" value should be preset to "Admin", similarly when i select "Technical" content type then "Category" should be preset to "Technical"
and same with "well".
Can some one provide me how i can achieve this?
I am working in the SharePoint 2010 environment.
Regards,
ChakradharMy understanding is that , you have to display the category in all the content types.
So in that case create a content type like
Create a base content type -- with column category.
Create a Admin content type based on base content type as parent. By default ,the category column is available in admin content.
Create a Technical content type based on base content type as parent. By default ,the category column is available in Technical content type.
Create a Well content type based on base content type as parent. By default ,the category column is available in Well content type.

How do I get my XDP form in the SharePoint 2010 Adobe Form library?
I was able to get the Adobe LiveCycle samples for SharePoint to work. For some reason, I can't get my XDP forms to show up in the selection dropdown in the Adobe Form Library on SharePoint using the Adobe LiveCycle SharePoint connector for SharePoint 2010.
Is there a trick that you have to do to the form to make it available. The only difference that I noticed was the sample forms used a guide.
We are using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES3 and we have Adobe LiveCycle server ES4. We are using SharePoint 2010.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JoeI got this problem solved.
Solution:
Create new Adobe Livecyle form
Have an xsd created for the schema of what is going to be in the form
Import that data model when creating the form
Right-click on xsd data connection in form. Click Connection Properties.
Click Next.
Click the checkbox "Embed XML Schema" (This is what I was missing).
Click Finish.
That's it to make the form show up in the SharePoint Adobe Form Library. -
Cannot edit JPG, GIF files stored in a SharePoint 2010 picture library
Created a SharePoint 2010 picture library to store .jpg, .gif images along with other types of images which were created using Adobe photoshop, Tiff etc.
Upon clicking on the .jpg, .gif files for editing purposes, they open in the browser instead of Photoshop so I cannot edit these files for this reason. Other types of image files are editable but not the jpg, gif files. File associations are already
in place for these files to open in Photoshop. Please advise.
Thank you,
MaheshYou can change the default application that opens while you click open document using DocIcon.xml which is present on the web front ends. Please look at this link which explains what you need to update in order to take care of your requirement.

Can't Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library
Hello all,
When I attempt to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides to a SharePoint 2010 Slide Library it informs me that it failed. I am able to publish PowerPoint 2010 slides without issue. All of my permissions are correct. Is it possible to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides
to SharePoint 2010?
The weird thing is that while I can't publish, I can compile a new slide deck in PowerPoint 2013 using the "Copy slide to presentation" button in the slide library of my SharePoint 2010 site.
Thanks!
Kelly
Personal Blog: http://thebitsthatbyte.comWhen I get this error it is because SharePoint is not passing the credentials to the network share where the slide library is located. So when PowerPoint
tries to upload slides to SharePoint it is giving an error of unauthorized (because your credentials are not being passed correctly). Every part of SharePoint is essentially a network shared drive just like you have an internal network to share files between
employees. Assuming you are having the same problem for the same reason, here's the work around:
Set up a mapped network drive that goes to where the slide library is located. It should be something like this: \\sp.sharepoint.com@SSL\site\Sales\Slide Library
When you connect to this drive it will prompt you for a log in (just like SharePoint would)
Once you log in your credentials will be cached (until you reboot your system or it times out)
You can then publish to your PowerPoint slides to the library either directly through PowerPoint or by going to the upload slides option on SharePoint
The problem is it only last until you reboot. When you reboot it clears out your credentials then you have to log in again. I’m hoping someone can figure out why SharePoint is
not passing the credentials properly so we can have true fix to this issue. Until then, this will get you by. -
How can I automatically enable content approval on a SharePoint 2010 document library
Hi All,
I would like to enable
content approval feature 'Yes' in version setting page by default when the new site is created under SharePoint 2010 farm. How could achieve this. Kindly help.Hi, Are you creating publishing site? if yes Turn on Content Approval for SharePoint 2010 Sites By default, Content Approval is turned off in SharePoint 2010 and (usually) any user with Read access can see Draft items in most libraries. Sites created with
the publishing site template, however, already have Content Approval turned on in the Pages library.
Please remember to click 'Mark as Answer' on the answer if it helps you -
SharePoint 2010 Form Library Missing the Option to Create Gantt Chart
I have two content enable SharePoint 2010 form libraries - one has the option to create a Gantt Chart view while the other does not. Why?
Hi Zach,
Please access the page when you create a standard view, I assume the page url is as:
_layouts/ViewNew.aspx?List=ID&Source=ID
Try add &Gantt=True in the end, and the page url should be as:
_layouts/ViewNew.aspx?List=ID&Source=ID&Gantt=True
Click Enter and see if you can create a Gantt view. The list should at least has two columns in Date type for start date and end date.

Answer an interesting question?
Create a wiki article about it! -
have created folder in library Cost , and under
Cost created so many folder for different model, wants to keep them in ascending order,
I found the option I can sort it as ascending order, when I close this screen than it goes back to way it was,
is there a way to save it in ascending order all the folder screen, so when I open cost library , it stays in same order,
2nd question : we have approved column , when the person approved the cost , is there a way to keep that person the name,
right now when the next time some other users open that file that users name comes in the approved column,
can some one please help,
any advise will be helpful.Hi Bitia,
To create workflow in SharePoint, I recommend to use SharePoint Designer to achieve this goal.
Firstly, we need to allow the site to be edited in SharePoint Designer, please refer to the "SharePoint Designer settings page" part in the article below:
https://support.office.com/en-ca/article/Managing-SharePoint-Designer-2010-e12d76ce-83f7-4dde-864c-6c1e210399b6#__toc254689397
Secondly, we can install SharePoint Designer from the site or just download and install it.
https://kb.pachosting.hk/article/how-to-install-sharepoint-designer-to-edit-site-content-9333.html
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16573
After that, we can use SharePoint Designer to create workflow:
https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/Introduction-to-designing-and-customizing-workflows-32c9c0bf-5e20-4f74-8b9c-d3ea79f2962b
Best regards.

Issues with 'Content Organizer Rules' of SharePoint 2010
Hi Everyone,
Hope all's going well. I have configured Content Organizer Rules for my SharePoint application. It's configured properly and its routing documents to the desired folder in other libraries of the site.
I want these rules to be applied to a particular library, however they get applied to all libraries in the site collection.
Is there any way to restrict 'Content Organizer Rules' not to be applied on some specific library.
Thanks in advance,
Waseem KhanHi,
We can create a New Rule in Content Organizer Rules, then set the particular library in
Target Location.

SharePoint 2010: Ribbon on document library does not load
Hello,
I have a user where on some sites that he uses the document library fails to load. We are on SharePoint 2010, Enterprise Edition. The problem is just on his Windows 7 PC, and no others have reported the problem. He is using IE 10.
Can you give me some possible things to try to fix the issue?
Thanks
PaulWill you also please describe how it fails to load? Do you get an HTTP error/"This page cannot be displayed"? Does it not show up, the "unexpected error" error?
