Content purchased via ATV disappearing from ATV, available on iTunes

Hello,
I have an Apple TV and over the past few days purchased one free episode of Heroes and the first episode of the new season of Terminator. I watched both on ATV, but now they're not there anymore (they're only on my computer). The ATV is set to sync with the computer.
Is this normal?
Todd

Well take the iPhone for example. If you have apps set up to sync what you select to sync instead of all, when you download a new app it is already checked to be synced.
So with the TV if you download direct to the unit, have it sync back to iTunes already checked. That way when you decide you don't want it any more, just uncheck it. It is very inconvenient to download direct to the TV then have it sync to iTunes before you get to watch it, and have to go to your computer to sync it back to the TV. But thats just me, But I also think that apple needs to open up the device so you can plug in an external drive for additional storage.

Great, that's what I was looking for.  Thanks for the quick response.  I knew that that feature existed in this router, but I couldn't remember what it was called or where to find it.
The funny thing is, I recall distinctly setting up the DHCP reservation initially, but when I went to check it now, the reserved client list was empty.  I have no idea how it could have become depopulated, thus opening the door for internal IP address reassignment of the Remote Desktop computer which led to the RDP ports no longer being forwarded to the right internal IP address and thus the failure of the Remote Desktop connectivity.

  • My ipod touch has stopped downloading new music (purchased via internet or from a CD) from iTunes when I sync it, how do I fix this?

I have a 32 GB ipod touch with plenty of space on it still, but when I sync it to iTunes, any music I've recently added will not download to the iPod.  It was working fine until a month ago, but now even though the new songs are visible on iTunes in the "On this iPod page" but they show up as not downloaded.  I've run a diagnostic test on my iPod but it said everything was working fine.  Is there a way to fix this?  I have purchased and downloaded music from cds and all of a sudden I can't add them to the library on my device.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • My purchased items have disappeared from my iphone after I transferred them to itunes

I plugged my iphone into my computer, just so that I could sync some music and it starts automatically transferring all my purchased items, including songs, movies, and apps, onto my itunes. I tried to stop it but everytime I did and pressed sync again it would just start doing it again, so I let it. Now when I go on my iphone the music and movies and books that I had purchased and got transferred to my itunes aren't there anymore. The music will still show up in my library but when I click on it it doesn't play and just goes straight to the next song. How do I get my purchased items back on my iphone? And is there a way to stop itunes from automatically transferring the purchased items?

You can re-download all purchases for free. Log in to the iTunes Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase them, then select Purchases tab.

  • HT204411 I just need to purchase a song that is not available in itunes country, its only available in the USA. Is there anything I can do as all my efforts so far have not been successful. Thanks

I am trying to purchase a song that's not available in the itunes South Africa. The song I am trying to buy is only on itunes USA. Is there anything that I can do because usually all I need to do is switch shops but it doesn't seem to be working on this particular song. Thanks

You need to be in a country to use its store, so unless you are in the US with a US billing address on your account then you can't buy from the US store - you can only use the South African store. You can try requesting that the song be added to the South African store, but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Appl won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • IPod disappears from desktop; appears in iTunes, but is not functional

Is it possible to fix this without restoring my iPod?
    Order of events:
    1. I connect iPod to MacBook Pro
    2. iPod appears on desktop (and finder)
    3. iTunes freezes for a minute or two
    4. Error message appears: "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod" "click Restore"
    5. When I click ok: *iPod disappears from desktop/finder*
    6. Only then does the iPod show up in iTunes, and *the only option iTunes gives is to Restore*
When the iPod appears +on the desktop, it has the name I gave it+.
But when it appears +in iTunes, it's just called "iPod."+ (Despite showing the correct serial number.)
Why does this happen? Can I fix it without restoring?

    Update:
When I try to use the iPod now, it says "*no music*"—despite the fact that it also shows *90GB in use*.
(It's been a long time since I sync'd it, so I'm trying not to lose the data about tracks played, etc.)

  • Birthdays disappeared from iCal. New iTunes?

I installed the new iTunes today and my birthdays disappeared from my MacPro iCal, but still show in my iPad and iPhone4.
In iCal I found Prefs > General > Show Birthdays Calendar which I never had checked before, so I checked to troubleshoot and the birthdays appeared but instead of having the usual little red icon to the left of the birthday text as before and still in Calendar on my iPhone and iPad, there is a lime green background under each birthday in iCal only.
Also there is now "Subscriptions" in the left iCal column after checking Show Birthday Calendar which I never saw before.
So I don't seem to have a problem, just wondering if iTunes changed these things above?
    Steven

Thanks Madison. I definitely will change the color
For some reason I was getting the red gift icon in iCal until I downloaded this last lastest version of iTunes, then I got the green backgrounds.
Perhaps it was a bug or something related to the fact that I had birthdays in two places. Some via Addressbook and some created as independent events within iCal?
The gift icons only showed up for the birthdays created from Address book and imported into iCal. It was that way from the first time I added a birthday in Address book. I know it was in this way on my computer as the Addressbook birthdays had the icon and the iCal birthday events had a blue background because I set them as all day since there wasn't a time associated with any of them.
I also had the same icons in my iPad and iPhone, again just for the Addressbook entries.
But now that I've deleted all the iCal birthday events and have all birthdays input into the Addressbook Birthday field, all birthdays are being read and imported into iCal and Calendar so no gift icons show any more in my computer's iCal, but they continue to show in Calendar on my iPhone and iPad.
    Thx again,
    Steven

  • My Purchased Music keeps disappearing from my iPod!  Help!

Hi, I recently had to get a new iPod from apple b/c my old one crapped out (just before the warranty expired - whew!). Now when I update my ipod, all the music plays for a few days, then after about a week later (I haven't timed it exactly) no songs that I've bought off iTunes will play. The titles appear in the iPod, but it just skips the song. If I update the iPod again, these songs will be good for about another week, but then mysteriously disappear again. Its really annoying, and no one I've spoken to at apple can offer a reasonable explanation.
I thought it might have something to do with the fact that its a new iPod, and the files only being temporarily available, but the guys at my local apple store assured me that's not the problem.
    Can you help me?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try this...
    Recreate iTunes Library
(Your music will not be effected)
Now sync your iPod. See if it works now.
Also, make sure everything is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
You could also try a restore...
    Restore the iPod

  • HT201272 Itunes purchased songs have disappeared from my Itunes Store after i changed the billing details on my appleID.  My appleID has remained the same. I changed from a US credit card to a UK credit card and back to a US card. Thoughts?

My songs purchaed from Itunes in the past no longer show up when i log into my Itunes account with my AppleID.  I have always used the same Apple ID, but i suspect it relates to the fact that I changed the billing information from a US card, to a UK card and then back to a US card.
The only songs showing up are the ones from my most recent purchases, but none of my prior purchases.
Is there a way to add these back?

Apple requires that you be a resident of the country of the store that you wish to use, supply a credit card issued by a bank in that country, with a verifiable billing address in that country.

  • Purchased tv shows disappeared from all devices

I have 3 TV shows which I have purchased entire seasons of and I have been watching on iPad and Apple TV. Now the devices say there are no TV shows purchased. When I go to purchase again iTunes has the series as purchased but none of the series are showing on my Apple devices.
How do I get the shows back??

Thanks again for reponding. I logged out and logged back in - and received the message that my ID was only valid for purchases from the Canadian Store and I would be switched to that. So my theory is that somehow my itunes switched itself to a version for another country, and that's the reason my purchases did not show. Not sure how that would have happened. I am currently abroad - in India - but I don't think iTunes auto-detects your location and changes accordingly. At least, I've been out of Canada for some time and never had that happen before.
Anyway, thanks again very much for your help!

  • The content purchased on iPad is not showing on Mac iTunes

I bought one season of a tv show on my ipad last night, and I went to watch it on my Mac and it is not showing in my iTunes account.

Of course it always works, what are you talking about.
I appreciate that re-downloading is only available in the US and then only with certain content. However content that cannot be re-downloaded is not offered for purchase on the Apple TV.

  • Purchased material never downloaded but is available in iTunes store?

So I purchased a couple season passes for a couple tv shows. Some of the shows have downloaded but most have stopped then all of a sudden they started again but only shows from last week not the ones that I missed for about 3-4 weeks. I am missing about 6 shows per season that never downloaded not even to my computer. What should I do?

Contact iTunes store support for your country.
You've presumably checked for available download under the iTunes Store menu options.

  • Syncing \ aAdding content (video or Music) away from home - ie. sans iTunes

Christmas and I bought my son an iPad - they are both very happy. We took a road trip to visit my parents - while there my son wanted to add some new video content to his new iPad - But his PC and therefor his iTunes library was back at home.
So, what options are there to add content to your 'i' device when you are seperated from your iTunes ? (Same question from me with my iPhone and my daughter with her iPod Touch?) - Bought content is easy, if you have access to wifi you go onto app store puchase and it all syncs when your back at base and connected to your own iTunes - But what about the content you would usually add via iTunes ?
Is there a 'legit' app that can used, can you copy your itunes onto a usb stick ?
or is there another option? - We generally have access to a pc (own, office or family friend) - but not each, our own iTunes library.
Nb : The best result would see the new content gettin synced with our iTunes library back at base when we sign back on.
    Ideas, anyone ?

OK - I might have a roundabout way of doing this - There is an app store app from JT Teh called "Downloader for ...." which downloads videos from Youtube, facebook etc you can then share these videos with iTunes - So I could publish the homemovies to youtube, then download them direct to the iPad - Sounds like a bit of a faff though - Surely theres a better way ?
NB - Why'd my son want to do this - because his grandfather had some home movies, my son said great - I'll put them on my iPad then when I go visiting I can show everyone the films - but without his iTunes he was stumped till we got back home and he could add them via iTunes on his PC.

  • Apple TV no longer appearing in ITunes PLUS apple TV icon has disappeared from preferences tab in ITunes

    Help, please help.
Itunes 10.5.0.142 loaded. There doesnt seem to have been a software upgrade for Apple TV

No, I don't have Netbarrier X. Ironically, I uninstalled Intego Virus Barrier X6 thinking that might be the problem but it isn't. There's currently no software firewall running on the system at all. The one thing I've been able to discern, so far, is that my partner's Macbook can connect and sync to the ATV and the only difference is that she didn't download the latest security patch (2010-001) that came out on Tuesday and I did. I've let Apple Support know but their response was "we haven't heard anything about this". However, since that is the only significant difference between our two machines and hers can connect at this point I'm presuming that's the issue.

  • Folder disappeared from desktop after installing iTunes 12.1.0.5

I recently had to upgrade to iTunes 12.1.0.5 so that I could get the computer to talk to the phone again.  The next time I restarted the computer a rather large folder that was on the desktop had simply vanished.  The folder lived there for over a year and contained many different items including documents of all sorts, photos, video and audio files, pdf's, etc., each in separate folders within the one parent folder.  None of the missing folders or items turn up in finder now. When I go to open recent I see some of the items, but they will not load.  I can click on them but nothing happens.  I downloaded recovery software (disk drill, stellar pheonix) both of which turned up long ago deleted files and lots of stuff I've never seen before (presumably apple stuff, sound bits, random stock photos and video), but so far none of the items from the folder.  It seems rather odd to say the least.  I have always used mac's and have owned 3 or 4 different computers over the last 20 years.  I have always kept folders on the desktop and I regularly run disk utility to reset permissions.  I do back-up onto an external hard-drive, though some of these files had not been backed-up yet.  I can most likely reconstruct most of what was lost.  I am not looking for advice on how to keep this from happening again as it seems to me there is no logical reason that a folder would just disappear or magically find its way into the trash.  My question is this, has anyone out there ever encountered this and if so, were you able to recover the folder?
    Thank you.

Thanks to all who have replied so far.
Also thanks to my brother who found a post from user s49 on Jan 3, 2013 in a response to a problem from a user who had the same problem in iTunes 11.  I'll repeat what s49 did here since it solved the problem without having to change any security settings.
    * First open the terminal program found in Application/Utilities folder
    * At the prompt type cd /Applications/
    * Then type the command sudo rm -rf  iTunes.app/
    * You will be prompted for the administrator users password, enter it.
    * Then go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and download the iTunes 12.1 installer for Mac.
    * Once the download finishes reinstall iTunes 12.1
Once again, thanks for user s49 for above directions. It appeared that when updating iTunes to 12.1 from the Mac app store that something stayed in the iTunes.app/ directory that caused the problem. lWhat that was I don't know.
Since doing the above steps I've had no further problems with iTunes asking about network connections.
