Content Server with File System Based Content Repository

Typically the SAP Content Server is installed with a SAPDB database. The content server software serves the content from the content repository - the SAPDB database.
I recall reading a few years ago about (unofficial?) plans from SAP to support file system based repositories, with the content server controlling access. So from a KPRO application perspective, whether the document was in a database or on a filesystem is hidden.
Can anyone tell me whether this is available yet? And if so, under Windows operating systems?
Regards
Andrew

HI Frank Weitzdörfer  ,
Could you share about architecture of this scenario ?
Can I use a simple PC as content repository and keep content server  and R/3 System in the same box and define some link between CS & PC based repository.

  • Convert Raw Device to file system based file systems for datafiles [HP-UX]

    Hello experts,
Once again in seek of guidance..
I am in the process of migrating my database (Oracle 7.2.3 on HP-UX 10.20 to Oracle 8.1.7 64-bits on HP-UX 11).
Amongst one of our steps is to convert our RAW Device datafiles to File System based files within the same server and version - Oracle 7.2.3 on HP-UX 10.20.
    E.g. /dev/vg00/rlvol1 to become /d01/oradata/cmtdb/tbs1.dbf
    Is this something possible?
Can i just do the following:
    a. Shutdown database (normal)
    b. dd if=/dev/vg00/rlvol1 of=/d01/oradata/cmtdb/tbs1.dbf bs=20k
    c. chown oracle7:dba /d01/oradata/cmtdb/tbs1.dbf
    d. svrmgrl> startup mount
    e. alter database rename file '/dev/vg00/rlvol1' to '/d01/oradata/cmtdb/tbs1.dbf'
    f. alter database open.

  • Mavericks Server; smbd: File system does not support 0x0, time/size attrs

So I recently installed a Mac Mini with Mavericks and Server 3.2.2 in the main office of my company and everything has been going well, minus a few expected bugs, until recently. Starting last week we've been experiencing random intervals where File Sharing stopped working altogether, and I'd been able to reboot and get it running again. Unfortunately, as I'm the Systems and Server Admin, I've been too busy to look at the logs until now (following the degradation of one of the drives in our DAT-Optic RAID system, I figured it was time to make it a priority), and I'm seeing dozens of entries in the system logs regarding the process smbd with file system does not support errors.
    Here's an example.

As far as I can tell, nothing else has changed in our system except for the fact that one of the drives died and was rebuilt as of yesterday (these smbd problems extend to last week shortly after I updated to 3.2.2 I believe). Any help would be much appreciated. I would normally first attempt a repair permissions to see if the issue is related to a bad plist somewhere but the last time we did that, our ACLs were duplicated across our file share and often incorrectly. I'm not sure if it's just me but the last Mac Server software I used was Snow Leopard Server (when it was still a full OS version) and it was infinitely more stable than what I've experienced thus far with Server 3. Anyway, I appreciate any help/advice that can be given and I apologize for the rant.

Been getting the same errors for a while.

Believe they are related to random disconnects from the file server (10.9.5).

  • Unable to create server pool, cant locate server pool file system

    Hi,
While creating a server pool, I'm unable to select a physical disk for the server pool file system. I have a Fiber channel 20 GB LUN presented to 2 hosts and on both, the disks are seen. However when creating the server pool, no physical disks show up under "location", not even the local storage. Are there any logs that I can check to see whats going on?
    Thanks

I was able to "resolve" this. I unassigned the LUNs, deleted them on the array and represented new LUNs and that worked. Looks like if there is an existing file system on the LUN, it will not create a repository. Only wish there was a warning message to indicate the same

  • Oracle vm 3.1.1 server pool file system corruption

    Hi
I have a small lab environment composed by 2 Oracle VM Servers and SAN access.
This morning somehow the OCFS2 Server Pool File System (the 12GB one) corrupted and the Server Pool seems dead. How can I recover from this error? I looked in the documentation and MOS but found nothing
    Thank you

I know it would be a lot of work in such a scenerio. I don't know what you're using for storage but you could snapshot or replicate the pool storage to create a backup that can be restored.
I do wish they would let you select more than one VM guest in the VM Manager. Would be really nice to have such. Seems like it would be a rather easy feature to implement.

  • How to work with file system in linux within a JSF app?

I use this line in my backing bean to log some events:
    FileHandler fhxml = new FileHandler("../webapps/MyWebApp/Log/MyWebAppLog.xml", append);
fhxml.setFormatter(new XMLFormatter());That works fine in windows but when I deploy it in my Tomcat 6 in linux It doesn't work. How can I work with file system in linux?

You should never use relative paths to access the filesystem. The path would be relative to the current working directory which is not per se the same in all environments. To convert a relative web path to an absolute file system path, you need ServletContext#getRealPath(). Use this absolute file system path in the java.io stuff. In a JSF application on top of Servlet API you can get the underlying ServletContext by ExternalContext#getContext().
Alternatively, if the file is located in one of the default paths of the classpath or if its path is added to the classpath, you can also just use ExternalContext#getResource() or even #getResourceAsStream() using just the file name.

  • SAP Content Server vs. Open Text Content Server

    Hi,
We're currently trying to decide whether we implement SAP Content Server or an Open Text Content Server. We have the following requisites:
    - Store documents (from FI, MM, HCM, etc.)
    - Store SAP transactional data
    - Use Archivelink
According to your experience what do you recommend?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ricardo

    Hi Ricardo
Contact Open Text directly, they have a really nice presentation which compares the functionality from a technical perspective. Unfortunately I can't it here on their behalf but I'm sure they would be happy to send you a copy of it.
SAP don't recommend the SAP content server for long term archiving so if you intend doing data archiving Open Text is probably a better option.

  • Problem withe file system repository

I configured a windows file system to the portal.
And the folder is showing well in the KM content.(along with its content) which is fine.
Now when i am trying to edit the file (by clicking on the 'Edit Locally' ) it is not responding and a message like operation failed is appearing.
NOTE: The Windows folder has given the full permissions.
The folder in theKM was also given full permissions to user.
    can any one help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mr.Chowday

    Hi
    check this
    Internet Explorer settings:
Regardless of whether you are using ActiveX or the Applet, you have to make ActiveX settings in the browser (Internet Explorer) in order to use the Edit Locally function.
Call up the security settings for the browser: Choose Tools ® Internet Options ® Security ® Custom Level in the menu bar. Make the following settings
Download signed ActiveX controls = Enable
Download unsigned ActiveX controls = Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe = Disable
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins = Enable
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting = Enable
and also If you are using the repository in read-only mode, the creating, changing, renaming, and deleting of files and directories is not supported.

  • Check-out originals from Content Server to File server?

    Hello Experts,
We have urgent requirement to check-out huge number of originals from the Content server and send to an application server (ftp server).
The input data that we can use to fetch the originals are  PHOIO nunber or LOIO or Original File name.
I tested below function module but they does not seem to meet our requirements.
    BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2  - Originals are checked-out to C:\Temp\
    CV120_KPRO_CHECKOUT_TO_SERVER
    CV120_KPRO_CHECKOUT_TO_TABLE
SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT - here the content is written to table in binary mode.
    CV120_DOC_GET_FILE
Also i tested program - DMS_KPRO_READ. In this case, manual action is required to select the path in front end where the originals needs to be checked-out.
Please help if you have suitable solutions.
    Thanks!
    sandeep

    Hello Sandeep,
You can use "DMS_KPRO_READ" report to achive your purpose. In this report you will get PHIO ID & LOIO ID. with these ID's you will get originals path to download the files uploaded on content server to application server or FTP server.
Use F_BROWSE function to select all files in foreground/background to downlaod it on desktop. I have implement in my project & it is working fine till date.
    Thanks

  • OVM Manager 2.2.2: server pool error with file system type

I'm just getting started with OVM. I've installed OVM on one machine and the manager on another.
I created a server pool, which seemed to work OK but shows "Error" in the table under the "Server Pools" tab in the manager interface
When I edit it I see
Error: OVM-1011 OVM Manager communication with NNN.NNN.NN.NNN for operation Pre-check cluster root for Server Pool failed: <Exception: SR '/dev/sda3' not supported: type 'ocfs2.local' not in ['nfs', 'ocfs2.cluster']>
Can anyone explain this? Does this mean I can't use a local file system in OVM 2.2.2? I understood this was the case with OVM 3, which is why I went with 2.2.2.
    Thanks.
