Dear All,
I have a scenario here,
Lets assume, there are many content versions for a document. as default when the user tries to view the attachment of the document info record, it will show the current content version. but.
Is it possible that the system defaultly shows the original file which was attached in the beginning.

Yes! Itu2019s possible to view the original file which was attached in the beginning.
Make sure in customization:
1. In DC10 select document Type, click on define document status
2. check the content version box, save it.
Create DIR attach the document save it. Next make the changes in same doc save it. In DIR (CV02N) click on original tab, in application column expand the tree, here u can find the all changed document & also original file.

Problem in Creation of Content versions

Dear Friends,
As I know we can create many content versions, when it is activated.
I have a doc. type ZAC with KPRo checked, and all statuses associated are checked with content version. I am using the workstation application MS word (DOX) in which content version as well as additional files has been checked
Statuses defined for ZAc doc. type - Submission ; review ; released
I have defined workstation apllication in network for DOX
PC     DOX     1     Winword 2007     %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.INPLACE%
PC     DOX     2     Winword 2007     %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.OUTPLACE%
PC     DOX     3     Winword 2007     %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.INPLACE% %MAXSIZE%
I created DIR.
Changed to new statusu2026and moved to storage category, it prompted for log field, given. When I am viewing Original it prompted permissions / with stop protection etc (using MS office 2007) . Clicked on stop protection and did changes. The changes were not considered in originals. No new content version created.
I have created another DIR.
Not stored in storage category. Open the DIR in change mode, select the originals on origianl tab, click on check in as new version, entered log field. After selecting orinals, when I right click I am getting options: check in ; check in as ..; check in as new version. No changes in Word document recorded. No new content version created.
I have created 3rd DIR.
Not stored in storage category. Open the DIR in change mode, select the originals on origianl tab, change the tab and changed the status. No changes in Word document recorded. No new content version created.
Did I miss any steps ? Why I couldn't able to make new content version?

I have tried the same way. It didn't work for me.
Can you clarify the following:
1. If we want to make content version does the document to be check in or not ?
2. Does we need to store the outside SAP & save as new one ?
I go to CV02N, Originlal is not check in, open the originals, it open in SAP . Edited, saved the transaction.
No changes saved.
Then go to CV02N one more time done changes, changed status, clicked on check in as new version, then also changes didn't save.
Can u explain me where I am missing ?

Content Versions getting Created Automatically/Unable to Check-in Originals

Hello Guru's,
Everytime when I try to check-in an original and save the DIR, two content versions of the originals is getting created.This is happening only when I do through the PLM Web UI. Hence I am not able to check-in documents through PLM Web UI. I checked all my configuration and I have not enabled the content version neither in DIR status nor in the application type.
I dont have any issues checking through the CV01N/CV02N. The whitelist set up has been completed as well.

What is the correct CIM model and CR content version to import into SLD?

Hi All,
I just met a difficulty that I can not find the correct import version of CIM model and CR content.
Could anyone share some valuable suggestions?
Situations now:
I installed ECC6 SR3 with ABAP+ Java stacks, after installation successfully, I logged onto SLD through http://xxx:50000/sld
since my CIM model and CR content version is too low, so I want to upgrade it.
The currect version is as below:
Model Version (sld/new):     1.5.24
SAP CR Content Version (sld/new):     SAP_CR 2.0 (produced 03/17/2005)
Namespace     Model Version     Classes     Instances     Associations     Total Objects
sld/active      1.5.24               908     36381     60183             97472
I have read note 669669 carefully and downloaded all the relevant versions before updating, the the results are not correct. something like "Unknow status -1" "import anyway" appears.
So, could anyone tell me the correct update file and sequence?

and the update sequence are the same as above, that is to say, first I update CIM model version successfully from 1.5.24 to 1.5.45, and then, I upload CRDelta1418_0-10003379.ZIP which gave me an error message "Unknown status -1", even how many times I click "Import anyway", it's useless.
after then, I tried to upload CRDelta1511_0-10004549.ZIP directly, but it also refused. warning message is "The selected aggregate import is not applicable to the current content version SAP_CR 2.0 of the target namespace.", I clicked button "Import anyway", but it's useless since there contains 0 objects, I don't know why, the message shows "The import will upgrade the content of export line SAP_CR from the current version 2.0 to version 4.0.
Contains 0 objects."
The file CRDelta1511_0-10004549.ZIP is under SAP CR CONTENT UP TO 2007, why its version is 4.0? is it because I need to firstly update to 3.0? and where can I find version 3.0?

You can maintain additional files for a document type whose have been original files have been stored via Knowledge Provider.
You can call up functions for the additional files in the document info record in the tab page original files.
Dependencies
You can determine the scope of the originals model in Customizing Docuement Management System under the settings for the workstation application.
Example
You can create several graphics and the print template for a text file.
Original file    Additional file
Text file         Graphic
                    Print template

You can display content versions in document info records on the Originals tab page.

You can create content versions in the following way:
Manually while processing a document info record
The Original -> Store as new version function is only active for document types whose original application files are stored in a storage system (content repository) using the Knowledge Provider.

Easy DMS and original content versions

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to view and activate original content versions in Easy DMS? This is the same standard functionality as in SAP DMS. We are using eDMS 6.0 SP10 (Unicode)

Hello Tommy
If you have done configurations for content version, content versions of original file will be created irrespective of whether it is easy DMS or transactional DMS. You can not see content version directly in Easy DMS, you will have to open SAP GUI from easy DMS to see content versions in SAPGUI.

BAPI to checkin file as new content version

Hi,
I am looking for a BAPI that allows me to checkin an original as a new content version via SAP JCo (similar to the "Check In as New Version" UI feature). I couldn't get it to work using the standard BAPIs BAPI_DOCUMENT_*
Is there a remote capable standard BAPI that does the job?

I tried that one. I found it to checkin new files.
With BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN_REPLACE2 I can replace originals.
But I failed to create new content version of an existing orginal.
Could you provide me with an example, of how to fill the BAPI parameters in order to create a new content version?

CONTENT VERSION IN DMS

Hi Friends,
I would like to know is there any way I can extract all Content versions of the document original in some table format ?
Eg. If I can check in 10 times, I will have 10 content versions, 10 different timings recorded and can be displayed under Original Tab for any Document using TCodes CV02n or CV03n. Can I extract the counts of Content Version, Latest Checked in Time and Date in some format ?

Error installing the Content version of Update rules

Hi experts,
While installing Update rule "0PA_C01 0HR_PA_0" from BI content following error is cming,
"Object Update rules E5ILYDNE80GVD52C5Y47ZBDKJ: Error installing the Content version."
Infocube , transfer rules are already installed. Datasource 0HR_PA_0 is also in place.
I have searched relevant quries in SDN.But i did not find the solution.
Could any one throw light on it?

Opinions: Content Version System?

I'm not sure what forum to ask this in. I use InDesign to produce my company collateral for print and web, and lately, my group has begun to run into version issues with the files - meaning that a printed file will be up-to-date and a PDF file that is posted onto an external and an internal server will be old. I was wondering if there was a content version system out there that would address this type of issue, and what other designers use to track these changes.
Does anyone know if Adobe had a product that could accomplish this? Can Bridge be used for this purpose? Or, is this just a manual process that someone has to "own".

Content version for CAD

hi all
As Daniel has explained
content version will retain the files in same doc.
How the content version will work for assemblies
i mean
if i create an assembly asm/iam/000/01
it will take the activated content vesion of individual parts.
Now lets create a normal version of assembly as asm/iam/000/02
im not able to understand how it ll pick the files...
can anyone has any document or can guide me on this..

for Part1/ipt/000/01 and part1/ipt/000/02
and content version of part1
i mean the content version is like Version during specific Status of a document.
Can we say that
During Status --- In Preparation
we can use content version
and
when we want to change the status of
part1/ipt/000/01 to For Review
we change version to part1/ipt/000/02
for this status (For Review) we will not put content version active.
can we use this feature this way?

KPRO Content Versions

Hi Guys, Girls
Is there a way to remove the content server versions in DMS.
Our Content Server is at 90% capacity and we are going to run into problems soon.
Config has the Content Version tick active, and if I understand this correctly, it stores a snapshot of the document as it was during a specific status?
Please advise.

To use or not to use content versions is set up in DC10 on the documents different status.
If Content version is ticked in, there is a copy of the file saved each time an original file is checked in.
When a document is displayed in SAPGui there is possibility to activate any of these content versions from the Originals tab.
We have in our company this active for our CAD documents but not for other documents (Excel, word ...).
Have also done some additional programming to do what Dan is mentioning, when a document is released all content versions except the active one are deleted. A SAP consultant has done this for us and I have unfortunately no knowledge about how it is done in detail.

Identification for Content versions

Is it possible to give different files names for each content version. Suppose there is a original file (example.pdf), when user create a new content version then different file name to be given by the user. For example example-1.pdf.
The problem is that if any new content version is created then it is stored under the original file name and not able to give a new name for the content version.

I have downloaded the original file and renamed it, then attached the new file as "Copy as New Version" then checked in to the storage area.. Here the system doesn't create any new content version. The new file is attached as 2nd original. If i do the same then 3rd original file is only created in the system and content versions are not created at all. i can't see latest content version (in Green light) and old versions (Yellow light) in the system. Even though i defined the content version for the workstation application, the updated files are created as separate original files.
Can you please help / correct me to solve this problem.

Prestaged Content and new Content Versions

I have a question concerning prestaged content in an SCCM 2012 R2 Environment. I have created several prestaged content files of some very large Applikations and Software Update Packages. In the meanwhile some of the Software Update Packages
have a new Content Version, because some expired Updates where removed from the Package.
So, if I now extract those Update Packages on a Distribution Point, the Content is not getting registrated as successfully distributed in the Content Monitoring Workspace, because the Content Version has increased in the meantime. I can
see that after Content is extracted successfully, the success Status Message is send to the Site Server, but the status stays on waiting for prestaged content.
I can’t sent a new USB Stick with the newer Version of those files to those offices and I can’t send the whole new Package via WAN to those office. I there a way to only create something like a delta prestaged content file or send only
the delta via WAN to those distribution point ?

BI Content Version

Hi,
We were using BI Content 703 for our development. Later we installed BI Content 704 for the BI. 7 dataflow (transformations) in some areas like materails management. But we found that some transformations delivered are in error. Is it possible to downgrade the verssion 704 to 703, since we have decided that we will use the old 3.5 data flow available with version 703?. If yes, Kindly explain the steps.

Hi Rajeeve,
Just reinstall the BI_CONT release 703, that will overwrite the version 704. But just a suggestion that, in this version, there are a few errors in Start Routines of some transformations, which can be solved. Please try and find SAP notes or raise a call with SAP. Its better to use the 7.0 dataflow instead of 3.x.
