Content Viewer on different devices

Basic Question:
Once users have downloaded the Content Viewers for iPad and/or Android,  is it possible to upload .folio files to other App markets such as the  new Amazon Android Appstore or Chomp or GetJar?

Thank you so much for the feedback. Yes, I created the file as an overlay (web content) and linked to the html file that is created when you build an Articulate Studio file. Is there a way to have it preview on the mobile device? Do I have to upload those files separately, somehow? If there isn't a way to preview it, does that mean it will not work when I go to publish it for real? In my latest preview, I can now hear the audio, but cannot see the video on my device (but this isn't every time). Another issue: when I go to preview the entire portfolio on my local computer using the Adobe Content Viewer, it never loads the preview--it just hangs on the load screen and I see "Proxy.folio" and the file never loads [see image below].
I have created one folio with articles in that folio and I have changed and updated those articles. I have also tried signing out and back in to the Adobe Content Viewer and I still see the duplicate files. I also tried restarting my devices to see if that would update everything and the duplicates are still there.
Any other help is greatly appreciated! ~Amber Price

  • How do I hide a folio in Adobe Content Viewer on a device?

I have a folio that I'm testing on an Android tablet, but I now want to hide it so the next person I give this to cannot see it. Is this possible or do I have to delete the folio in the Folio builder?

Yeah, but you can delete it off the device then and it won't show

  • ADF mobile: Reuse taskflows for different device models (resolutions) ?

    Hi,
    ADf 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
What's best practice to create the same mobile app for different device models (= different screen resolutions = different layout)?
I mean an app on a smartphone may use different gui components and layout than on a tablet device.
In adfmf-feature.xml the content of a feature can be either a amx page or a task flow.
Here I can add a constraint to determine e.g. the device.model and use different amx pages depending on the device model.
But how to reuse the task flow (assumtion: the taskflow is independent from the device model) and just create specific amx page per device model?
    regards
    Peter

    Replying to an old thread.
With ADF Mobile 11.1.2.4.0, to display different content views for different devices,  it is recommended that we use following property as a constraint on the content of the feature.
    Property
    Operator
    Value
    hardware.screen.diagonalSize
    more
    6
It applies this constraint on the devices which have screen size more than 6 inches. Which is applicable for the tablets.

  • Adobe Content Viewer, Articulate Studio file

Hello! I am learning DPS bit by bit and have successfully begun publishing my document for viewing in the Adobe Content Viewer on different devices. Here are the issues I am having and the questions associated with those issues:
    1. When I publish my document and go to view it on my devices (Android tablet and iPad3), I get a gray box where I should have an Articulate Studio *.html file. I think it may be a memory issue, but how do I truly preview my DPS document so that I see all interactive content? I am assuming it is a memory issue, but it may be a linking issue to the Articulate file, though I am able to see the Articulate file when I preview just that article within my folio on my computer. The total filesize is about 33 Mb and I have seen on other posts that some magazines are 500Mb in size. Is the Adobe Content Viewer limited in its content file size for previewing publications?
    2. I have been publishing my file over and over and now have multiple copies of the file in my Adobe Content Viewer on both devices. How do I get rid of the duplicates and have only the most recently updated item on my device? Is this something I can do through the Folio builder online? (I am only seeing one file in the Organizer and Publish Requests.)
Thank you for any help with these questions.
    Sincerely,
    Amber Price

  • Can you access your iPhoto on your MAC from a different device?

My Mac, which is my housing source for all photos from the past 7 years. Is there any way to access my iPhoto and it's contents from a different device WITHOUT using iCloud? I have iCloud, but I don't believe that I ever connected it with my MAC.

Where is your laptop?  You might be able if you have file sharing setup and remote access enabled on it.  However the laptop whould have to be setup to allow you access remotely.  You can learn more about that by asking in the forum for the system that is running on the laptop.

  • How do I view folios in Adobe Content Viewer on device?

    Hello,
I have just upgraded to the Creative Cloud. In my newly created folio, I see the icon for Local Folio. How can I get that folio to the cloud, so I can have it downloaded to my device in the Adobe Content Viewer?

    Hi Jo,
When you create your folio you can preview it by:
    1) Opening the Folio Builder window and clicking Preview > Preview on Desktop at the bottom left
    2) Opening the Folio Builder window and clicking Preview > Preivew on Jo’s iPad at the bottom left (only works if you have Adobe Content Viewer installed and open on a plugged in iPad)
To actually compile your app and install the development ipa file on your iPad:
    1) Select your Folio in the Folio Builder window
    2) From the top, right flag pull down select “Create App”
    3) This will launch the Digital Publishing Suite App Builder that takes you through the steps to create the ipa file

  • Users in different country cannot review e-mag in Content Viewer

    Hello there,
Sadly no phone support for this product since it's on iPad.
I've published a new e-mag which my colleagues are able to see fine by Adobe Content Viewer on iPad.
I supplied the login to colleagues in Norway, also using the iPad app, when they login to the Content Viewer with my credentials they cannot see the publication - any reason for this?
It seems there might be some geographical limitations, atleast from my POV, I've tried it on several colleagues in Denmark and Norway(btw, I'm in Denmark), my colleagues in DK see the publication just fine, but the ones in Norway cannot.
The publication is published June 2013.
I hope someone can help, and if any additional info is needed please dont hesitate to ask, it's my first time on these forums and having an issue with an Adobe product in general(guess that's either a good sign or I'm incredible lucky ;-) )
    Kind regards
    Michael Munkhof

I haven't seen this issue before. What I would do is, log in as each user then view the source of the page in the browser (right click the page and click "View Page Source" from the context menu, or use developer tools/firebug in the browser). Compare
the HTML generated for the menu for each user and see if any other CSS classes get applied. My gut is that another class is being applied for the other users, or the HTML is different in some way.

  • Content viewer required on ipad or android devices to view the E-books which made from indesigns???

    Hi,
Is content viewer is required compulsory to view digital E-book which is made by adobe indesign or viewer can install it as apps on Ipad/tablets,
We need to make ebook where we need to place 3 videos, 2 forms and many pinch zoom functionality photographs in E-book.

  • Viewing purchases simultaneously on different devices

If I purchase a movie on iTunes can it be watched simulaneously on two different devices?

Yes. Depending upon what country that you are in you might be able to redownload it on other devices and/or computers (films can't be redownloaded in all countries, and not all studios allow redownloading). if you can't redownload it then you can copy/sync it between computers/devices.
Your iTunes account can be authorised on up to five computers at a time, so theoretically you can play it at the same time on five computers, as well as on your iOS devices.

  • Private app distribution: dev version / testflight / adobe content viewer / b2b distribution

    Hi Adobe Community!
I am finalizing an app for my company that is supposed to be distributed only among our distributors. Apple rejected my Enterprise inquiry since our distributors are not our employees. I wanted to sum up my distribution options now and ask you for feedback. I do not plan to use App Store.
    1. B2B distribution through apple
I can distribute custom b2b app through Apple, but it is available only in few european countries and this does not cover our needs since we cannot supply to all distributors. Also the process looks very complicated and I'd like to not use it.
    2. Adobe Content Viewer distribution
If I tell my customers to download Adobe Content Viewer and sign in with my Adobe ID, the newest version of folios will be automatically downloaded to their devices?
Also on Adobe website it is stated that my folios should be automatically uploaded to Adobe servers - but they are not. From what I read on the forums I understood that it is only available to Creative Cloud subscribers, is it right? If I subscribe will I be able to use this way for as many users I want?
    3. Developer version
Finally I know that I can distribute dev version. I will have to register devices UDIDs but they will expire (after what time?) and how many UDIDs can I register (I read in different places that I can have 50 or 100 testers).
    4. TestFlight
What I undestood so far is that facilitates developeloper version distribution, but wouldn't I be able to use this tool to go around UDIDs expiration?
    Thank a lot!

With DPS enterprise and Apple enterprise account, you can built and deploy enterprised signed app internally within your organisation. Create the app, deploy and host it internally, so anyone who has access to the link can download the app. Not sure if Apple terms allows your distributors from outside your organisation to access and download the app hosted internally within your organisation, check that with Apple.
If Apple terms does not allow, then you can use DPS restricted distribution method to deploy the app on the Appstore, but allow someone access to the content only if they are authenticated via the app, called direct entitlement or restricted distribution. Go here for details: Using restricted distribution with Digital Publishing Suite
Signing in to ACV does not automatically download the latest folio. Your folios are always uploaded on Adobe servers, you cannot host it somewhre else. Anyone can create, upload folios and see the folio in the Adobe Content Viewer. But publishing the folio to be available in an app requires DPS subscription.
You can register upto 100 UDID's on Apple dev portal. I don't think the UDID's expires so long as your Apple Dev account is active but the certificates expires exactly one year from the day it was generated.

  • Cannot download folio in adobe content viewer - urgent help please

    Hello,
my folio won't download in my Adobe content viewer ("cannot connect to server") and I would have needed it for a presentation at the client - the client also wanted to download the folio on his device but the same error came up. I tried it then with another iPad, same problem on 3 different iPads. I uninstalled the ACV app, installed it again, removed old issues of the magazine from the iPad and tried all that. But everything failed. In the past it always worked fine. This time, the only difference is that I have 2 Youtube videos as "web content" in the folio, but I can't imagine that could be the problem. There were no problems when having the iPad connected to my laptop, everything worked fine. But without cable connection and trying to download it into the Adobe content viewer, the download does not work. Can somebody help me please? And will that have a negative affect on the submission towards the Apple App Store?

    Hello Neil,
I tried 2 different wireless networks with 3 different iPads and I had the problem with all networks and iPads unfortunately. When I did other app magazine issues for that client in the past, everything always worked fine with the 2 different networks and there were no settings changed. This is why I am so confused about this.
Meanwhile, I have managed to give my client access by private-publishing the folio via the Folio Panel with my personal Adobe ID and I gave my client my personal Adobe ID for that. Not the ideal solution but at the moment that works.

  • Grey Screen in iPad Content Viewer

A number of co-workers and clients have reported that when viewing a folio for the first time on a new device, a grey screen appears instead of the content. In general, the problem is fixed by closing the Conent Viewer in the app tray and restarting the app.
I have only seen the issue once, but it has been reported to me a number of times and while it's no problem for my co-workers, we would prefer that when a client sees a draft of their folio for the first time, they are not fighitng with the software. As my sale person said, "we're losing the 'wow' factor.
Any one else experiencing this issue or any expected fix?

I get it with dual orientation folios in PDF format on iPad and iPhone. but
    maybe I experience a different bug ...

  • ADOBE CONTENT VIEWER PROBLEMS

What is going on with the content viewer? I am trying to work on a folio which is a work in progress. As I ad and make changes to the articles I update them and download the update on my iPad. The problem that I have over and over and over to the point of RIDICULOUS is that I get a ERROR downloading the update and then I am requried to download the entire 521mb folio AGAIN!!!!! Then ot gets to about 321mb and stops. All I get ie a"waiting" message.
I pay entirely to much money for this softeware for it to continully have these problems. This is disrupting my work flow and causing me to miss deadlines.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the content viewer and nothing seems to work. This same problem is happening on my addroid tablet as well.
    Any thoughts?
    Rob

    Rob,
From May until September, before they upgraded the servers and timeout settings, I was having very similar problems and frustration.  I had to babysit downloads on salespeople's Xooms using hotel wireless until the wee hours of a couple of mornings in addition to many frustrating days/weeks in my office.  The unreliability/inconsistency was the most frustrating part.  Thankfully I rarely have download and installation issues these days and get very few complaints from users in the field.  Server problems seem to happen infrequently and don't last for more than a few hours when they do occur.
Make sure you're as close to a strong and solid signal as possible.  Adjust the screen timeout setting on the Android tablet.  When they go to sleep it seems to increase the potential for errors.  What happened to me a lot was that a 500MB+ folio would slowly download in spurts and then hang during installation.  I'd have to quit and restart the content viewer app to complete installation and then when it finally finished I would find that one or two articles would have gray elements or would be gray entirely.  It seemed like the delays during download would sometimes lead to an incomplete article.  Also, make sure you try downloading from different connections and/or rooms to eliminate your connection as a potential cause.
With some of our larger articles it takes as long to upload the article and then download/verify on multiple devices as it does to create them.  I add as much padding to schedules as I can just in case Adobe has a bad server day (or week).
Big articles and folios come with more time and trouble, make sure you optimize your videos and overlay elements to keep file size as low as you can.  Also, with the iPad viewer you should have progressive downloading so you can view articles as the folio is being downloaded.  This may help you identify the problem article(s).

  • Folio not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on ipad

folio i created in indesign cs5.5 not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on ipad.
I have CS5.5, Apple ipad 1st gen ios 5.0.1 Adobe content viewer 1.9.1
the folio appears on the acrobat.com site in the FOLIO PRODUCER
but nothing is appearing on my ipad in the Adobe Content Viewer.
I work for a large magazine publisher and would like to demo the folio on the ipad to sell the concept of the DPS.
However if i cant get this on my device, its going to be a no go.
    Help please.
    Thanks,
    James.

    Thanks Ants,
Your doubts motivated me to do some testing on the subject;-)
I made several files of different dimensions, and uploaded them to the cloud. All of them rendered correctly on the desktop. But only those which used exact 4:3 width:height ratio  appeared in the Content Viewer on the iPad. And only those, which were at least 1024x768px. A perfect 4:3 document sized 768x576 did not show. But the 1536x1152 one appeared correctly.
I am still certain, that the reason of absence od James' file in his iPad was caused by the dimensions of the folio. I would however modify my statement:
Only the folios sized exactly 1024x768 px (Landscape, portrait or both orientations) are valid for iPad
It should be: Only the folios sized 1024x768 px or more, with exact 4:3 ratio (Landscape, portrait or both orientations) are valid for iPad.

  • Adobe Content Viewer Stuck

    Hello,
I am currently working on a DPS project in InDesign. Everything was going smoothly until the very end.
After updating information in Folio Producer, I went back to InDesign to preview my project for final details and to see if everything was in order.
From InDesign, in the Folio Builder, I clicked to Preview on Desktop.
Since then, I have had the troubles of my folio getting stuck in loading into Content Viewer.
All it says is "Proxy.folio" and the load bar remains at the very small spot it's at.
It doesn't seem to be loading, as I've tried it on different computers and have also let it sit for a few hours.
    What could the problem be?
It was previewing fine up until the end.
(Attached: window that Content Viewer is stuck at)
    Thank you

Hey guys, I'm sorry, I just now saw that this post got replies. Sorry!
In the end, it worked out that I had to view it on the actual device. The desktop viewer seems very finicky - sometimes it'll work and sometimes it won't.
It's not very handy to have to view it on the actual device. Sometimes you won't always have the device you're designing for on hand! Hopefully Adobe will recognize that.
    Good luck guys!
