Content Viewer Update

Is there an update on the Content Viewer?

That worked, thanks.
Not to belittle others who were caught unawares by the upgrade, or who have extensive article-heavy folios and anxious clients, but I was able to manage my errant upgrade-before-the-new-viewer-is-ready problem fairly quickly and painlessly.
These instructions are just for MAC OS CS 5.5
Quit InDesign.
Run the uninstaller located in Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.
Download and install the previous tools installer from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/collection.jsp?collID=4&platform=Macintosh
Start up InDesign and update each article that you previously touched with the new (now un-installed) version of tools.
Restart the content viewer on your tablet device, download your folio.
Groove at how smart you feel.
Thank Bob.

  • Content Viewer update is available!

The Content Viewer update just landed on the App Store.

Hurray !! How many emoticons are there to express joy ?
And you can download it here or just let iTunes fetch it for you.
And before this thread starts to look like a Justin Bieber fan page,
I'll also note that I'm curious about the announced Builder update.
Hopefully this pack of new tools, panels, and viewers will not just
offer lots of new features, bu also solve many issues and errors.

  • Adobe Content Viewer update yesterday is buggy

Adobe Content Viewer update yesterday is causing my scrollbar to fall in the wrong position.
This needs to be fixed ASAP!
I have clients that are going to look at this today!

    This is currently being investigated
This seems to be an issue with Content Viewer (v32.5) from the App Store.
If I build one from the App Builder 32.4.4 (same v32.5), the bar is back to its original position.
Not a solution but might be a workaround for some until this is fixed.

  • Duplicate Article Names Deny Content Viewer Updates

A mistake on my part, but an interesting "glitch" either way.
Apparently if you build a folio and two articles have the same name, updates don't register in the Content Viewer on the iPad for that app. I was re-adding articles into an exisiting folio (to enable PDF formats for pinch and zoom capability) and accidentally named two articles the same. Updates weren't showing up for any of the new changes, even to other articles, until I noticed the oversight and changed the name of one of the duplicate article names.
Obviously two articles shouldn't have the same name because it would mess up navigation in the app. But it shouldn't completly deny the ability to download app updates. Perhaps an error message should be added if a designer tries to add an article and name it with something that already exists?

Unfortunately, known feature. Current native viewer doesn't support update, it will be in v30 (this saturday).
So, delete folio and download again.

  • Adobe content viewer update?

Is there an update for the ACV coming soon?

This is a mistake in the folio builder panel. You'll need to make the folio again as v31.

  • Acrobat Content Viewer 2.1 Mac

    Hi everybody!
I have a doubt regarding the utilization of the desktop viewer for Mac "Acrobat Content Viewer" (updated to the version 2.1.0 with the last couple of patches  DigitalPublishing-Tools and FolioPanel).
What happens is that I launch it and it is ok until I drag&drop one single .folio file but I am not able to load the entire publication which is composed of several .folio files because if I select multiple .folio files the "Acrobat Content Viewer" does not accept them!
What I was expecting was that by drag&drop the .zip file that I had downloaded after publishing and exporting from my DPS dashboard I could be able to preview it on my Mac desktop with the "Acrobat Content Viewer" instead it seems it does not work, so the question is: do I have a wrong version of "Acrobat Content Viewer" or it simply is not a feature to preview an entire publication on my desktop?
    Thanks!

I've never known this to be a feature in the Desktop Content Viewer. It will view a single .folio file. Some publishing systems will combine all of your folio files into a single folio file so it could be viewed that way.
Someone feel free to correct me if they know otherwise.

  • V19 Android Adobe Content Viewer dumped my folios

I fired up our Xoom this morning to preview some article changes and upgraded the Adobe Content Viewer.  Unfortunately I was greeted with an empty library, even though I had 10 or more already downloaded folios before the update.  I was viewing one right before the update was installed.  After signing in all the folios show up in the library, but they show as not having been downloaded yet.  Did I do something wrong, or will my customers have to re-download entire folios that were already downloaded to their devices prior to the Adobe Content Viewer update?  After the v18 ACV update I had to update an article in each folio for them to be viewable (which was not ideal) but at least it only forced one article to be re-downloaded.
Has anyone else experienced this?  I haven't started getting calls about this yet but I'm sure they'll be coming soon if it's not just me that's losing their downloaded folios.
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
Do you know if this is still the case for the latest version?
I wonder if this is by design, or just happened with v19 update.
It would seem beneficial for Adobe to have all users need to re-download everything after an update of an app.
Hoping for a quick answer, otherwise ill have to test it myself on v21
ps, you mentioned Android, so it did not happen in iOS?

  • Content Viewer won't update the library

    Hey guys!
    Big trouble here.
After I last updated an uploaded folio, the Content Viewer on the iPad out of the sudden was not recognizing any update on that folio anymore.
So I deleted the folio from the iPad and updated the library. What happened? The folio wasn't even there to download anymore. And yes, it appears on the Folio Producer and it is active.
It's quite a big folio (+100 mb) and I have even uploaded it again with another name and still the Viewer won't show it on the library.
I have tried to upload smaller folios and it worked just fine.
Have no idea what's the problem neither the solution.
    Anyone with the same problem?

Problem resolved, with a bit of help from Adobe Support. It was Websense, our organizations web content filter. This is what I got from Adobe Support, which I sent to the IT guys.
In order for the content viewer on the iPad to work and bypass the network, make sure this two Adobe domain/url is allowed through the network.

  • Adobe Content Viewer in iPad dont update the contents on mi Folio Builder! Help!

Please, someone have de same problem?!
When i update my folio through the Folio Builder in Indesign 5.5, the Content Viewer in iPad dont update de folio.
In Acrobat.com i see the contents update, but in iPad/Adobe Content Viewer not.
    Why this problem happens?
    Tanks.

As I wrote on another thread (and this was directed at Adobe employees)
"I have been closely monitoring many threads here at DPS (and DPS Private Beta Forums) in the last few weeks, and yes I am new to this particular product group having only been in it since March.  But I wonder if there is some way that Adobe can be made aware of how serious this issue is with Builder and Viewer and tools "not lining up" with Apple.
"To keep putting this problem on Apple is somewhat of a shopworn technique (and I say this with all due respect.). Still, Apple commands fully 80+ % of the tablet market.  They are the big dog.
"Suggestions for the future:  Perhaps there will be a way to choose a tools/viewers workflow at startup -- or to put a bigger "red flag" before installing any update that is not yet supported by Apple.  Approaching this from the engineering side, you may have forgotten just how many disclaimer screens the average designer/production person faces every week!  Many of us don't read them carefully. (Richard Dreyfuss reads them).
"I have nothing but admiration for what Adobe software engineers are trying to do -- and these are nascent times to be sure.  But it certainly seems like this launch is going poorly.

  • Adobe Publishing Suite update v24 is not compatible with current Adobe Content Viewer

I updated the Adobe Publishing Suite to  v24 and updated my folio to v24. Now I can't view it in Adobe Content Viewer. When will the Adobe Content Viewer be updated to be compatible with the new v24?

  • Content Viewer won't update file on tablet

Hello.  My content viewer on my Nexus 7 won't update all the way.  What I mean is, the app comes up fine, and I've refreshed/archived it several times.  The logo/picture in the content viewer next to the file updates, the viewer number updates, but the file itself is still showing the original version.
Any ideas how I can fix this or what is going on?  I'm working on InDesign CS5.5 and just recently installed the Content Viewer on my Nexus 7.

I am having the same issue in CS6 Indesign. I try to preview using the desktop viewer and nothing happens, it silently fails.
I have uninstalled Indesign CS6 (including preferences), Uninstalled adobe Air 3.3. Uninstalled the content viewer.
rebooted, reinstalled air rebooted, reinstalled Indesign CS6 rebooted...
    And it still doesn't work!
I think it may be to do with AIR rather than InDesign because it goes through the progressbars in InDesign and I have previously a BETA version of AIR that caused an issue else where, even though this is now uninstalled and the latest release of AIR is installed it still is failing to comunicate with AIR.
    Any ideas...
    thanks Geoff

  • Content Viewer not updating

I built a folio last week which displayed properly in Content Viewer.
Since then, we have added more content to it. The build continued to work in Content Viewer, then all of a sudden, it stopped updating.
I stripped the folio back to what it was before we added further content and it still wouldn't update.
I left it during the weekend, then when I attempted to view it again this morning, Content Viewer still didn't offer an update.
I've spent two hours this morning rebuilding the folio under another name. It appeard in the viewer and has given me updates every time I've added new content. Now, it has stopped offering updates and there is no way to test the folio, very frustrating and time consuming!
I have attempted to download the folio in both the release version of Content Viewer, and in my own custom content viewer. Still nothing. The content is showing in Folio Producer, so I know it has succesfully uploaded.
What is the solution to a non-responsive Content Viewer?

    hi Ragel,
this doesn't seem to be happening to us any more.
obviously we have another problem now...the certificates won't validate despite being walked through it by the dps tech team. this service is attrocious.
we've produced two mags with adobe dps and both of them have missed the event they were designed for.
WE WILL NOT BE USING ADOBE DPS AGAIN.

  • Content Viewer asks me to update app

    Hi.
I have imported a magazine to the ADPS server with Folio Builder. When I opened my Content Viewer with iPad, I tried to download the magazine. But a message said that I had to update my app to a newer version.
So I deleted the app. Then I went to the App Store and downloaded the Content Viewer again. But the same message appeared. What is causing this?
    Jean.

Jean, Bob explained it here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/868393?tstart=0
You used Folio Builder 1.1. with Content Viewer 1.7 (the next version of the folio builder (1.8) is currently in approval state by apple and should appear in the app store anytime soon)

  • Error when attempting to update DPS folio in Content Viewer

Long story short, out of nowhere I can't update a folio in my iPad Content Viewer app.
    I get the error message:
    Error During Download
Please try your download again later.
This never happened before, everything has been going smooth until now. Please see screenshots below.
    Any ideas, Adobe?

I remembered a workaround from a few years ago when a similar problem existed, so I thought I'd give it a try –– First, I removed the folio from my iPad so I could start the download from scratch. Then, as soon as the first article starts to download I quickly go to "stack" view and then the viewer app will download a few articles. But then it pauses. But if I scroll back to a previous article with my finger (still in "stack" view) it will begin downloading a few pages again, then pauses again. As soon as I tap the screen and scroll back one article, it begins downloading again. At least with this method of "babying" it along I can hopefully meet my deadline. Hopefully the service will get fixed by the time I have to share the folio for review by the editorial and advertising teams.

  • Adobe Content Viewer doesn't seem to update

    Hi,
I have just produced a folio with 2 articles, it says my folio is now in the cloud but when I go to Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad nothing shows up. It says 'Updating Library' for about 5 seconds then stops.
    I think I am using the latest folio builder (11.4.3.20111129_m_672305 / 7.5.5.17 in CS5.5.
    Any suggestions? Many thanks.

    Hi Bob,
Have just tried your suggestion, signing out of acrobat.com and killing the app completely and restarting but no improvement.
After opening the folio in my browser on acrobat.com's folio producer, it says  "Missing or unable to load layout". I'm guessing this has something to do with it?
