Contents inside HP_Recovery Drive is all gone

i found that the contents inside HP_Recovery Drive is all gone!  How can I get that back? HP TouchSmart 520-1068hk, Win 7 64bit

Hi,
It would appear the files are indeed missing.  This is not really a problem if you have created you set of Recovery DVDs, as you can simply use these to reinstall the operating system should you need to - also as part of the Recovery process, they will re-create the Recovery Partition again.
If you don't have a set of these discs, you can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

    I read that it's safe/ok to clear all contents inside /var/folders and saves GB and computer goes faster. Any feedback for this ?

    Are you short on disk space? If so:
    These aren't the files you're looking for. Move along. Consider moving some of YOUR documents to another drive, or even installing a larger drive to replace your current one.
    Is your computer unusually slow? If so:

    Hi,I have recently replaced by hard drive with a ssd. My old hard drive has all my iTunes stuff.i would like to install only iTunes programme on the ssd with all the content on the old hard drive. How do I do it?

    Install iTunes.
    Once install, hold SHIFT and launch iTunes.
    When prompted, point iTunes to the correct location for the iTunesLibrary.itl file which should be in the iTunes folder under <user>/Music on the old drive.

  • Windows 8.1 connected by VPN, contents of mapped drives "disappears" intermittently.

    I have a client with a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop who works in a satellite office and connects to the main office via VPN. The main office is running SBS 2011.  The user has his G drive mapped to a share on the server and will be working on 2 or 3 files,
    he'll then go to open the G drive to find another file and he'll see that only the files/folders he's actually been working on are showing up, the rest of the contents of the drive seems to "disappear".  I believe this is caused by the VPN dropping
    connection (not proven yet).  The problem is that even if you reconnect to the VPN, those files don't re-appear... or they might be back when he comes back into the office after doing some calls.  We can make the files instantaneously re-appear if
    he grabs his notebook, walks across the street from the satellite office to the main office and plugs into the hardwired network... but this is less than practical, and impossible if he's actually on the road somewhere.
    He does not have "offline files" active for the G drive, nor do we really want to do that... but I'm thinking that Windows is going into some sort of half-baked automatic offline files mode when the VPN goes away.   I've played with
    registry and group policy settings in reference to offline files in the hope that would rectify the issue but to no avail.
    We don't particularly care that the files are unavailable when the VPN isn't connected, the client understands they aren't local files.  What is really the big issue is that activating the VPN doesn't make the files reappear and that there doesn't seem
    to be any consistent way of "forcing" the issue except to physically hardware to the lan segment the server is on.
    This was working just fine on the client's old system under Windows 7 Pro, but just since moving to a new laptop with Windows 8.1 it has become flakey.
    Any suggestions hints or tips are appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Mike
    P.S. When I say the files "disappear", they are just invisible to this user... they are still physically on the server and accessible by all other users on the LAN.

    I will have to double check again to make sure I'm telling the truth (I've gone through so many iterations in the past weeks I can't remember which way is up :-)  but I believe that the drive was showing in offline files, but that attempting sync (even
    repeatedly) did not bring the drive contents back.  Which also begs the question, if the user has not made the drive "available offline" why would it be acting like it is?  I've considered actually making it available offline, but I don't want
    all of that data on his laptop and I'm also concerned that we'd then have more problems as he continues to work for hours and days on his offline copies.
    I should also add that I was able to work with the client on Friday and we were able to determine that the VPN is NOT dropping as we're able to ping devices on the LAN side immediately once the files disappear.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Possible to Install Logic 9 Content onto Another Drive?

    I am using a small 60GB SSD drive, but I also have a larger drive inside the Mac. is it possible to install the additional content onto another drive? Otherwise I won't be able to use Logic 9 at all. Lame. :-(
    Thanks in adva

    I have the install DVD's but it only allows me to install the apple sound effects to the other drive. Believe it or not, I have now attempted to download it from the app store because it's smaller. I've seen some posts on YouTube about moving the files and I might try their techniques but I'm at a loss as to what to do.

  • HT203167 I had 25 tv shows in my itunes library, and 3 movies. Now there all gone, I can access them thru the store but I dont want to download all over again. There was like 50 gb of video. What do I do, Its impossable to contanct apple about it.

    I had almost 30 different seasons of tv shows in my library, alot. Now there all gone, my library is blank. My purchases are in my purchasd section on the store but I dont have enough space to download them all over again. I cant figure out what happend to them. I just watched one, then turnd my pc off, and later that day they were gone. And its IMPOSSABLE to contact apple about it, I dont know why its so hard to ask them any kind of question... Please help..

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
    You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
    It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
    Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

  • I have 2 Macbook Pros running 10.6! One was my sales guy and I would like to transfer my contents to his whilst retaining all his information?

    Hi Guy's,
    I have run Mac for the last 10 years! I am sick to the back teeth of them now! I am seriously considering going back to Bill......
    I have two Macbook pro's, they are company Macs and I own them. My sales guy has left tthe company and his Mac was a couple of years younger than
    mine and a larger memory faster processor etc...
    I would like to transfer all of my contents to the younger version, Iphotos, itunes, apps, docs, mail and all? Whilst retaining all of the info still on the newer version. I have backed up onto a 1Tb hard drive (iomega) and thats where the trouble has started.......
    It will not let me transfer across, you know the story......different user, keychain, system already exists etc etc.
    Is there an easy way of having one access (without it keeping the original user hidden away to P*ss you off from time to time) i don't want to see his name appear now or in the future, just my name, on my Macs, that I bought with, my money.........
    Sorry, but really annoyed at the minute....
    PJ

    Well there is Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder and that's designed to migrate user accounts from a same or older machine to a newer one. But that comes later.
    You want to retain the previous owners data but want to delete his name from the machine, so your going to need to have Admin access on that newer machine or access to his account to get the data off the machine first to a external drive by copying the users folders (music, pictures, movies, documents etc.)
    To get the old user off the machine unfortunalty requires wiping the entire drive of all data, including programs installed and the operating system and all accounts, then installing OS X fresh again and setting it up like a brand new machine.
    Apple squirrels the original user name all over the machine, and the only way to get rid of it all is to wipe the drive completely.
    Once OS X is reinstalled, and you go through the setup process, the Setup Assistant will transfer the User account of the older machine to the newer one via Firewire Target Disk Mode, or via a external TimeMachine drive made on the older machine. Then you can transfer the user data from the backup drive you made earlier.

    Most commonly used backup methods
    If this is all too much for you to grasp at this time, just take the machine's to a local Mac software service and they will do it all for you.

But there is one corrupt file which i also cannot open :(
    I need help :( thank you

    1. Reinstalling iPhoto has no effect on your photos. The iPhoto application is totally seperate from your iPhoto library
    2. Is you backed up correctly and restored correctly nothing would change
    3. Given your report it is clear that you dopi somethinfpg incorrectly. However since you do not tell how you backed up or how you restored it is impossible to guess what you did wrong or if itpt is possible to fix
    4. Exactly step by step howvdid you back up your iPhoto library and exactly how did you restore it?
    5. Do you have a TimeMachine backup or clone of your iPhoto library from before you did this?
    6. What version of iPhoto '11?  There are many different versions

  • My iMac, OS 10.7.5, is abnormally slow on start-up, taking many minutes for my password sign-in window to show up.  I've run Disk Permissions and have verified my hard drive and all is in order.  What do I do to start up my Mac in a normal manner?

    My iMac, OS 10.7.5, is abnormally slow on start-up, taking many minutes for my password sign-in window to show up.  I've run Disk Permissions and have verified my hard drive and all is in order.  What do I do to start up my Mac in a normal manner?

    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
    If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • FavoriteFolder, how to get the content inside this folder

    Hi
    I have to get with the Java api consumer the content inside the favorite folder. How can i get it?
    i write this code:
                   String searchQuery = search://{'guaglanto1'}?SearchKeywords=true&SearchExact=true&SearchCaseSensitive=true;
                   ResponseHolder rh = boBIPlatform.get(searchQuery, null);
                   InfoObjects myFav = rh.getInfoObjects();
                   if (myFav == null || source.getInfoObjectArray().length == 0){
                     result="No terms matching the following search query could be found: " + searchQuery;
                             return result;
                   result ="";
                   for (InfoObject infoObject: myFav.getInfoObjectArray()){
                     result= result+ infoObject.getName() + " has CUID: " + infoObject.getCUID()+ " type "+ infoObject.getKind() + " has childreen "+ infoObject.getChildrenObjects();
    Where guaglanto1 is the title of the favoriteFolder.This code show the CUID,name,kind and children of the favoriteFolder.  Now i want to navigate this folder and get its content (i see from InfoViewApp there are 5 web intelligent report inside the favorite folder) but i don't know how can i get that.
    Anyone can help me to resolve this problem?
    thank you
    best regard
    Andrea

    once you get the SI_ID or SI_CUID of the favorites folder you need to write an additional query to pull all its children using:
    select * from ci_infoobjects where si_parentcuid='<si_cuid of favorites folder>'
    If the favorites folder contains folders with subfolders, this will be a recursive call. You can use query://{select....} or path://
    Look at the BIPlatform documentation in API reference and there is more information on how to use query:// or path://

  • How can I recover a delete accidently genre from my playlist? It's all gone even the genre title

    How can I recover a delete accidently genre from my playlist? It's all gone even the genre title

    As long as you don't delete the trash, the files should be recoverable.
    I suspect using the Put Back command could take a long time, so be patient.
    If your Time Machine backups are mixed with your daughter's backups you might want to buy a larger drive and move the Time Machine files to the new drive.
    Regarding missing photos in iPhoto...There might be options to rebuild/recover that data from iPhoto rather than trying to revert to a Time Machine backup.
    Check out this third party app, iPhoto Library Manager. It has a demo.
    http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/
    Options for a larger drive.
    I like the Seagate USB 3.0 Backup plus drives. Works on USB 2.0 ports. They come formatted for PC but easy to format in Disk Utility.
    I don't recommend Western Digital because of the boot problem with some of their drives.
    LaCie makes good drives.
    All Mac formatted drives will cost more and it’s easy to reformat with Disk Utility. Do not use the software that comes with the drives. It’s recommended that you use Apple’s Disk Utility.
    Prices vary but this gives you an idea of what you’ll find. As you notice the second and third TB is usually only $15 more per TB. Normally, you’ll find these prices but right now the 1T is more than the 2T
    Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB USB 3.0 $85
    Seagate Backup Plus 2 TB USB 3.0 $99
    Seagate Backup Plus 3 TB USB 3.0 $115
    I have seen the 3T on sale for $99.
    Locally, Best Buy seems to have the best prices.

  • Proper way to copy contents of a drive

    I have a 500GB G-Raid mini drive that has about 400GBs of various material on it,...mostly video. I need to copy the entire contents of the drive to a LACIE 500GB mini hub drive.
    Problem is that when I SELECT ALL (contents on the G-RAID), COPY and go to paste that to the LACIE, it starts copying fine but inevitably there comes up an error that there is something on the G-RAID that can't be copied, stopping the entire process.
    I've encountered this when copying data between lots of different types of drives and what I've found is that if you copy the files individually, they go fine and can be copied, but when you try to copy the entire contents in one shot, you get the error stating individual files can't be copied.
    Is there a "correct" methodology for copying all data from one external drive to another external drive?
    Thanks for any input.

    BEST way would be to get Carbon COpy Cloner (free...versiontracker.com) and use it to clone EVERYTHING on the drive.
    Next best way is to highlight everything and then DRAG AND DROP. COpy/Paste of contents from one drive to another...dunno about that. Never tried that. Drag and Drop is good though.
    But use Carbon Copy Cloner...that is the best way.

  • How do I reconnect to an external drive with all my itunes

    Today I migrated to an Imac and have successfully updated iphoto but itunes isn't working.
    My G4 has a faulty logic board so I upgraded before the inevitable.
    I have always kept my music on an external drive (500GB with 375GB available space)
    I have followed all the postings on this forum and have
    • changed the location in Preferences/advanced to the correct folder on the external drive
    • copied and pasted the contents of the Itunes folder on the internal HD (not the folder just the contents)
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb (12KB)
    iTunes library Genius.itdb (28KB)
    iTunes Music (which is empty)
    iTunes Music Library.xml (12KB)
    Previous iTunes Library (iTunes Library 2008-09-26 36KB)
    • restarted itunes holding down the option & shift so that I get prompted to select a library
    • choose "Previous itunes library" from the external drive
    • deleted the contents only from the original music/itunes folder
    • had a quick restart and nothing !
    Can someone please guide me through it. Just a reminder that there is no music on the internal drive. All 23GB is on the external drive.
    Blue skies

    Are you using iTunes 8? After my update to iTunes 8, my Western Digital 500 GB My Book which stores my music library, is recognized in iTunes, but if I don't play any music or videos within a few minutes, and try to play shortly thereafter, it is nothing but a spinning beach ball. I must shut down the drive and and remount it. It does drive scan and then mounts allowing me to play music again.
    I believe iTunes 8 has issues with external drives (FireWire only?) in some cases and is causing issues with the library readability and drive powering.
    Have you tried a completely different drive with the same data? Not the easiest option, but It sounds as if you've followed all the right steps so far.
