Running Medieval Total War 2 on windows xp home ed via bootcamp on mac book

Hi...i have a macbook with os x 10.4.6, but im not able to have medieval total war 2 running on bootcamp 1.4, windows xp home ed.
it reported that theres an unspecified problem and program will exit now.
i read from other random forums outside apple that i maybe able to get the game working by upgrading the patch to at least v1.2. Prob is i cant even install the patch. it reports that there is no existing version of medieval total war 2. and that the patch requires a previous version.
so next, i tried v1.1, and to no avail as well. in fact, v1.2 is supposed to have 1.1 accompassed in it in the very first place. its stated in the official totalwar web that we are supposed to upgrade from 1.0 straight to 1.2. theres no requirement to do from 1.0 to 1.1 and next 1.2.
so i like to enquire how to get medieval total war 2 running on mac book with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. need to install something special? or like upgrade something?

First of all, you are running an outdated version of Mac OS X which could contribute to your problems, please perform a system update to the latest build of OS X (10.4.10) to insure your MacBook contains the latest security and functionality updates.
Also, you may have more luck contacting the manufacturer of the game you are trying to run, or Microsoft, as Apple does not currently provide any support for Bootcamp or Windows Applications running under Bootcamp. Many games do not run optimally on the Intel GMA 950 so you will need to contact the product manufacturer for further support with their product.

The above is a screen cap from the App Store page for the game. Typically when the VRAM for a GPU is listed it's usually targeted at discrete cards not shared GPUs like the one found on the MacBook Air. I have not had the opportunity to install onto my MacBook Air yet as it's only got 4GB of RAM but I did install it on my 13" rMBP with 8GB of RAM and it's playable on low-to-medium. You definitely won't be running the game on ultra.
I found turning down the shaders, shadows and particle effects help tremendously as by mid-battle with all the units in the play the game definitely got a bit laggy due to pure unit count.

Need Some Help! Empire: Total War Digital Download

I Purchased Empire: Total War for windows through the best buy digital downloads. I succesfully downloaded the main setup to my desktop along with all seven setup files, However when I open the main setup file it asks me to insert disk 1 in order to continue. I have never done a digital download before as I was afraid that I would run into a problem such as this and be out my money. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, This is the second time i have had to download the game form the digital library and i left all of the previous files on my computer when I redownloaded it.

Thanks for purchasing a Digital Copy of Empire: Total War at Best Buy! I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve played that game, but now you have me thinking about diving back in. When our Digital Library goes through upgrades, I have heard of discrepancies occurring with the video game files. However, I haven’t quite seen what you’ve described! No worries though, as most of these issues are quite easy to resolve.

Trouble with Installing Empire: Total War; downloaded from Best Buy Pc app

Hello,
I have had troubles downloading and installing Empire: Total War. At first, I coudn't download it but I now have figured it out. I checked today after work and it successfully downloaded. The trouble now is that I have the files but can't seem to install them. I pressed the "install manually" button within the Pc app but nothing happened. Help would be appreciated!

You should be able to locate the game data files here:
C:\Users\ [User Name] \AppData\Local\Best Buy pc app\DigitalShelf\ [Your Game folder]
In that folder there is likely an executable install file (.exe) that you could try. If it's not there or that install method doesn't work, there may have been a problem during the download process and you'll want to try a re-download. I know that not ideal as you ran into issues trying to download it the first time but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Napoleon Total War Error 403 Macbook Air

I've been downloading Napoleon Total War for my Macbook Air and the last few times I have recieved a 403 forbidden error. It has not completed download, and is not in my application folder so Feral's answer to several other users will not work for me.

Disable anti virus software if installed.
If you have Little Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from downloading.

Empire total war graphics

so i just downloaded ETW from the apple app store and it took like 6 hours. the game works fine except for one
problem. the graphics seem to be set on "low" and when i try to change it to high or even medium nothing seems to happen. the screen will load up again as if its resetting the graphics but nothings changed. i have 512mb of graphics. i don't know if thats enough or what to play with high graphics??? whats going on here?

Empire Total War Not Working on 2013 iMacs

Greetings,
I just purchased a high-end 2013 iMac with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB. I downloaded Empire Total War (ETW) from the App Store tonight and after installation, got the message: "This Mac is not supported".
After looking around, I found a Feral posting saying: "The following graphics cards are not supported: ATI X1xxx series, Intel GMA series and NVIDIA 7xxx series."
Can someone smarter than I confirm that the GeForce GTX 780M 4GB graphics card won't in fact play ETW? I can't be the only one is this boat...
If so, is there a workaround? It seems odd that Feral would sell a popular game on the App Store and not allow top-of-the-line iMac's to play it...

Hi there, I'm in the same boat. The issue has come in with way OS X Mavericks reports the VRAM of the GTX 780m.
Feral have confirmed that they are testing a patch to fix this, unfortunately no time frame was supplied for when they will release this.
Hang in there, dead annoying but nothing that can be done.

Paolo, the first thing that I would do is install the latest patch for the game. Next, install the latest software suite from ATI; Catalyst Control Center. This will allow you to control the fan speed of the video card. If this doesn't solve your problem, let us know.

Empire Total War

Hi everyone, I have done some research on Empire Total War and it looks like a very fun game. The problem is im running on Snow Leapord and dont have the requirements to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leapord - 10.6.8 while Lion - 10.7.5. The requirement im missing is a dual core 2 processor. Is there anway I can get this amazing game with out having to purchase a new computer?

Napoleon Total War

Hi All,
I have a G570 i5 with 6GB RAM and Radeon HD 6370 dedicated graphics card.
I am having trouble with Napoleon Total War. To get the game to run smoothly I am having to run all the graphics settings at low or near low.
I expected that this computer would be able to cope with such a game and run all settings on high without any issue.
Was I run with this expectation?
If so can I adjust any system settings to allow it to run better.
The system works fine otherwise and is only 1 month old.
I only have 1 other game at present "Medieval Total War", and this will not run correctly at all. Apparently due to an issue with Windows 7.

check your user manual. if your system supports sw graphics, you need to activate it ( it should have a sw buttton )
also, make sure you select high performance on power management.

App store Rome: Total War, Can't start Barbarian Invasion?

I bought the game Rome: Total War Gold edition from the Mac App Store, and the original game runs great. However I know that there is a different part of the game called Barbarian Invasion, I just have no idea how to start it. I'm not having errors when pressing a button of sorts to start it, i literally have no button to press. When I press the game icon on my Doc to begin playing it, the data necessary for the game shows up on my screen and then begins to run the game. But if i click the data, it delays the launch of the game, and allows me to navigate the various codes and files for the game, and I noticed that there was an entirely seperate file marked "BI", no doubt this stands for "Barbarian Invasion", do i need to do something with this to launch this section of the game? I appreciate any help.
