Context Menu not working in Firefox

Recently (I believe when I installed version 9.0.1) , when I right-click on certain objects, I don't get the context menu that I used to get. I only get the browser context menu.
I notice it more frequently on company websites because that's where I try to use the context menu more.
Any ideas and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• SAP Netweaver 2004  [and] I.E 7  CONTEXT Menu not working??

Hello there,
Installed: SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SPS 15
For some reason when I use Internet Explorer7 browsing the SAP Netweaver Portal. At the Content Administration>>RightClick on <Portal Content> is not working?
Like I mean, I am unable to open up the tiny context menu where you get the options: [New, Open, Refresh, Change ID]
But, when I use Firefox 3 everything is working fine. I can see the context menu opening up, but not in the case of I.E 7.
I got the latest Java SDK installed:  j2sdk1.4.2.18
Please note: I previously had j2sdk1.4.2.09 which didnt fix the above issue. So, I thought upgrading the Java SDK would fix my issue.. but, it did not.
My O.S: Windows XP SP2.
Any of you had this issue in the past ?  Found solution?
Can you please let me know?
Thanks

Hi Dino,
The problem is not with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SPS 15 but with the browser Internet Explorer7. We have also faced this problem then we installed IE 6. And it started giving the context menu.

• Yosemite Mail context menu not working

Since the installation of Yosemite, Mail context menus no longer work. Control-clicking on a hyperlink in a mail messages opens a context menu containing these items:
Selecting any of the first 3 has no effect. Just clicking on the hyperlink will switch to the browser (Safari) and open the link. Clicking on "Services" does display a list of Services, and "Open URL in Firefox" at least seems to work. However, "Open URLs in Safari Tabs" does not. This seems to indicate a possible disconnect between Mail and Safari in particular.
I've seen this problem in the Yosemite beta, the 10.0 release and the 10.1 release.  I haven't heard of many encountering this problem, but I have heard of a few. Has anyone here seen this, and maybe found a resolution for the problem?
Operating Environment
MacBook Pro (Late 2011), Mac Pro (Late 2008)
Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1)
Mail (Version 8.1)
Safari (Version 8.0)

This must be a pretty low-priority bug. I saw it in the Yosemite beta, and every update since, now including 10.10.2.

Hello Monica,
I too have this problem with IE7 on WinXP Home version. But every thing works fine with IE6 as well as Firefox. So this is somthing to do with IE7, I would recommand uninstalling IE7 and use IE6.

• Context menu not working outside of JDev

Hi all,
RTFM replies welcomed, although I couldn't find anything.
I have a very simple application (ADF BC + ADF Faces, 11.1.1.1.0).
On one page, I have an af:table that lists departments; there is a context menu that allows me to right-click a row and go to an edit page. It works just fine using the WLS integrated in JDeveloper (on Windows). I have deployed the application to a 10.1.3.1 WLS (JRF installed properly) on Linux. The list page displays, context menu shows up, but when I choose the "edit" item in the context menu, nothing happens. I don't see anything interesting (or otherwise) in WLS log files.
Am I missing a configuration somewhere?
Thanks for any help (the app is the same app that I used for my ADF Essentials series on OTN, if anyone wants to download it - I'm trying to get one last wrinkle ironed on the last article, and they are good to go - so anyone who helps here, I'll give them a kudo in the article!).
I can post the content of the PPR requests and responses if that helps someone (yay, Firebug!)
As an update - I've tried all major browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome - sorry Opera) and get the same results.
Best,
John

John,
I had to make some changes. The app I got from your series contained only an empty page flow and empty pages. I added the DepartmentList.jspx and DepartmentEdit.jspx to the adfc-config.xml. I added the navigation editDepartment from DepartmentLits to DepartmentEdit in the task flow.
Because of the empty pages I'd put a read only table on the DepartmentList, added the code from your post to the contextMenu facet, added an edit form on the DepartmentEdit.jspx page.
Tested it in jdev -> OK
deployed the app on my test wls server -> OK
So nothing fancy.
Is the WLS on OpenSuse 11.2 RC a 64bit installation?
I remember seeing strange behavior on a ubuntu 9.04 64bit installation had used before. My app runs fine on 32bit ubuntu 9.04 but i got errors when the app was hosted on the 64bit server. Never investigated it further because at work we are using SLSE and it's working there.
Anyway I'll mail you the workspace I used.
Keep me posted :-)
Timo

• Pause option in download context menu not working. Why?

I have noticed that in the last two updates the pause option in the downloads context menu is no longer working. Why is this? Removing a bit of code is one thing but leaving the menu option in place is sloppy.
Also, Mozilla seemed to have joined the ranks of companies who don't want to deal with customers directly. Instead, if you have a problem you have to post it on a 'forum' and hope you get a useful answer. This was different in the past, if you had a problem a very friendly person from a, now obviously defunct, customer service department would discuss your problem directly with you.
Have you adopted the Microsoft way of 'helping' people?

No, I am sorry but they did have a one on one service up until a year or so ago. I can dig up the emails to prove it.
</blockquote>
That was likely by a unofficial third-party company claiming to do support for products like the Firefox web browser. There are sites out there doing this to make money off the popularity of Firefox and inexperienced users.
Mozilla did work with a third-party email support pay service several years ago, but it was a short lived experiment.

• Dropdown menu not working in Firefox ubuntu

We are trying to create a lockdown in Ubuntu where users are only allowed to use firefox without being able to print, edit/open settings, and are only allowed to use the extensions already installed by us (Java). In order to do this we created a new session in /usr/share/xsessions
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Kiosk Mode
Comment=Firefox Kiosk Mode
Exec=/usr/bin/firefox -height 900 -width 1440
Type=Application
When we start in this session, everything seems to work fine. Firefox starts, no menu's in the background. When firefox is closed, the session is closed too. With this session somehow the menu's cannot be opened with the mouse, but keyboard shortcuts still work.
But the real problem is that the users need to go to a certain site which is using dropdown menu's. The problem is that when we use this session, users cannot open the dropdown menu's. They can only select an option by selecting the dropdown menu and use the arrows on the keyboard. We want them to be able to use the mouse to select an option in the dropdown.
We are using Ubuntu 14.04.1 with Mozilla Firefox 32.0.3.
Edit: In order to test this problem, I created a new virtual environment with the same session, but a new Firefox profile and no extensions. This gave exactly the same problem.

At the moment I dont have any preferences locked. The site with the dropdowns are using javascript. But it is not only the dropdown on the site. But also the Firefox option buttons like opening the favorites menu or clicking the 'open menu' button are not working, even on a simple installation with only the desktop session as described above, so only starting Firefox.

• Context menu not working on Desktop

Ive just migrated to a new iMac. My cntrl click menu on the desktop doesnt do anything at all. For example if I click Change Desktop Background, nothing happens. Any thoughts?

Yes, my thought is LaunchServices. Navigate to /library/caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxx.csstore. You may have more than one with different negative numbers. Delete all of these.
Then navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist and delete this also.
Then log out and back in. Or restart. Let us know.

• Videos are not working in Firefox

Hey everyone,
This seems to be a common problem, but videos are not working on Firefox, and not just for YouTube. I have updated Adobe Shockwave and Flash, re-installed Firefox, deleted/created a Firefox profile, started up Firefox in Safe Mode, turned off HTML5, checked if any of my plug-ins are disabled, and none of those have helped.
When I get on YouTube and click a video, the video itself doesn't even load. On other sites, in the box where the video should be playing, it says "No video with supported format and MIME content can be found." This kind of confuses me because I have updated the Adobe Flash.
Thoughts? Anything would be appreciated at this point.

Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
# Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/> <br/>
# Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
# Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
# Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

• Flash Player 11.3.300.262 Not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.

*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
- Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
- Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
Hope this info helps!
Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)

Hello gokulaan, try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

Yahoo mail tool bar (delete, more, spam, etc) not working in firefox.Works in Explorer.Web search points to Mozilla update problem."Plug-ins" up to date. Solutions?
I've used firefox for years now with out problems. Now that help is needed, Could you make this any more frustrating? I thought I was asking Mozilla help and I'm sent to "users". I went there 1st! there are similar questions but no answers. I've lost time and data. Is there any REAL PEOPLE to help with firefox problems?

I'm a real person, thanks.
If you mean, does Mozilla have paid staff you could phone or email, the answer is "No."
Is the problem with a feature of the Yahoo! mail web page itself, or the Yahoo! toolbar?
General advice:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any difference in how Yahoo! works?
