ContextMenu error in Flash Player 9

I build basic software simulations (Office products, Graphic
Design products, etc.) that often require a custom context menu.
The method we use requires two menus to be pushed; one that hides
the built-in items and one that contains the custom items. The
custom menu is attached to a button instance with only a hit state
using:
var rClickMenu1_cm:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
rClickMenu1_cm.hideBuiltInItems();
var a = new ContextMenuItem("Update Driver...", wrong);
var b = new ContextMenuItem("Disable", wrong);
var c = new ContextMenuItem("Uninstall", wrong);
var d = new ContextMenuItem("Scan for hardware changes",
wrong, true);
var e = new ContextMenuItem("Properties", correct1, true);
rClickMenu1_cm.customItems.push(a, b, c, d, e);
rClick1_btn.menu = rClickMenu1_cm;
The second menu (to hide the built-in items) is in the first
frame of an actions layer:
var root_cm:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
root_cm.hideBuiltInItems();
_root.menu = root_cm;
This has worked fine until my clients (and I) began running
Flash Player 9 (most often after an update to IE 7). The custom
items attached to the button no longer appear. I've found
work-arounds (using a movie-clip instance, or using an button where
the up/over/down are all set to alpha 0) but I'm curious if there
is something in the code I could change, or any other fix for that
matter--I'd really rather not go back and rebuild all the
simulations I have built. I'm using Flash 8 Pro, publishing to
Flash 7 AS 2.0.

I have encountered a similar problem with the context menu.
The simulations I created using a custom menu worked fine in Flash
Player 7 and 8, but do not work in Flash Player 9. I am wondering
if you ever got an answer to your question.

  • Constant Error; Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working. But NOT running Trusteer Rapport.

    I am experiancing this unbelieveably annoying and constant Flash error;  Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working.
    But NOT running Trusteer Rapport, I never have, and it's not even installed on my computer.  So what's causing this?

    There were a couple AntiVirus/AntiMalware products that keep coming up, but I haven't validated that in the lab and don't want to call anyone out publicly without reporting the issue to them first.

If you could tell me what antivirus/antimalware products and versions you have installed, that would be helpful.
    So, third party stuff aside, I'd like to know more about the crashes your seeing:
    1.) Please provide links to the Firefox crash reports.  If you have multiples, the first few would be great.
         In Firefox, type about:crashes in the address bar
         If the link starts with "bp...", it's already been submitted -- just right-click on it and copy the link, and paste it into the reply here.
         If not, click it to submit it, and copy the subsequent link.
    2.) In firefox, type about:support
         Just copy and paste the output into the reply.
    3.) In Firefox, type about:plugins
         Please copy and paste the output into the reply
    4.) Please provide the output of the DirectX Diagnostic Utility
         Click Start > type "dxdiag" [enter]
         Click Save All Information
         Copy the output of the file into the reply, or use Adobe SendNow/DropBox/PasteBin to share the file.
    5.) If you can provide an exact URL and step-by-step instructions on repeating the crash (if it's consistent), that would be really helpful.  My goal is to build out a configuration that matches yours as closely as possible, reproduce the problem and then debug it.
    If you're not comfortable sharing that diagnostic information publicly, send me a private message.  Just click my name and use the options on the right.

  • [TECHNOTE ANNOUNCE]  Error installing Flash Player "The download did not pass the integrity check (16236.304.443)

    All,
    I've published a new technote for folks who are having trouble with the Adobe Download Manager and Flash Player.
    Error installing Flash Player "The download did not pass the integrity check (16236.304.443)
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/512/cpsid_51258.html
    Essentially this technote links to the Windows troubleshooting technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166
    However, before today the Windows troubleshooting technote only had an EXE install for the ActiveX version of Flash Player 10.  I have now added a link to download the EXE version of the Flash Player Plugin installer as well.
    Please point other users with integrity check errors to the first technote.

    Thank you for the update & Tech Note Announcement. I do have a couple of questions, if you could please respond.
    After uninstalling and ready to download; reading from the link you provided on 9/4/09, Should we follow the normal download instructions
    per #2. "Flash  Player download Center" and if a successful installation is not accomplished, THEN, go to "download and unzip install_Flash_Player_10_Plugin (all other windows browsers) ? Or should the latter step be done in lieu of #2 mentioned. I am assuming the download from F.P. D.L. Center would be done first and then troubleshoot by running the EXE. version of the F.P. Plugin installer.
    Experience has taught me not to assume much, and if you don't know, ask!
    Thanks for your hard work, but you have to admit, for the technically deprived, it is frustrating and confusing.

  • Error installing flash player

    I download the installation file, have tried saving it and just opening it directly after downloading from adobe.com and filehippo.  I have verified that I am downloading for the correct version of windows and that I want to use it for Internet Explorer.  I saw some forum post semi related to my issue which recommended uninstalling all previous versions of flash player and I have done that.
    My problem is that when i go to run the installation file I get an error that says it can no longer run scripts on this page.  Gives me a line #, some other stuff and this http://localhost:1919/app/_host/host.js.  I have only seen this error on websites, why would it come from an installation file and what do I need to do to get rid of it?  Flash player has never given me a problem before.  I need some things that I can do.
    Computer information.  Windows XP SP3.  IE version 8 (the highest that can go on an XP computer).

    Dear Mr. Willener,
    Thanks a lot for your comments.
    Installation from your link works perfectly ok, I have a latest Flash Player installed.
    Actually I already had it.
    I tried to make it once more
    1 – checking in Windows control panel it is showing 13.3.300.257
    2 – after selecting update option from above installation starts even versions are the same
    3 – still same script error as before
    4 – after selecting to continue it goes ahead but no buttons when finished
    5 – clicking on the right upper corner displays buttons, when answering no it turns back to image 4
    6 – with answer yes installation is complete
    7 – clicking finish passing me to Adobe Flash Player page with flash animation and information about successful installation.
    Hoping, maybe it can be of some use to you.
    Cheers, Janusz Niski

  • After updating, install error "Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found"

    My current version of Flash Player is: 11.1.102.55. Then after an Update is performed and the download is downloaded, then it tries to install the download and an error message occurs. The error message says - Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found - then it says The procedure entry point  SetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.
    When I try to uninstall Flash Player I get the same error message above except that it says Uninstall_Flash_Player.exe instead of Install Flash Player.exe.
    I'm running WIN2000, my current version of Flash Player is 11.1.102.55 and I’m running Firefox version 12.0.

    I believe 10.1.102.64 was the last supported version of Flash Player for Win2k.  That being said, there have been numerous users that have been able to work around the error you are receiving.  Please see this post for details:

    As of 4/25/2006 Adobe Technical Support has become aware of
    an issue
    effecting AOL customers. AOL customers launching AOL's mail
    application
    receive a Flash Player security message "Macromedia Flash
    Player has
    stopped a potentially unsafe operation".
    This is a standard Flash Player security warning. For more
    information
    and an example of the security warning, please read " How do
    I let local
    Flash content communicate with the Internet?"
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/4c093f20).
    Flash Player is performing as
    designed, to protect users from unauthorized applications on
    their
    machines performing potentially malicious operations.
    It is your decision whether or not you allow the application
    to connect
    to the internet. If you want to allow the connection, follow
    the
    instructions in the TechNote referenced above. If you do not
    want to
    allow the connection, simply click OK in the security message
    window. If
    you are unsure whether to allow the connection, you should
    contact the
    web site identified in the error message to find out what
    application is
    causing the message to appear, and determine if you wish to
    allow the
    operation.
    In the following security message, the web site to contact
    for more
    information is atdmt.com.
    "Macromedia Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
    operation The
    following local application on your computer or network:
    mad:\\03BEDE57-4A24-4ABB-8EA8-916A-DA14911\default.html
    is trying to communicate with this internet enabled location
    spe.atdmt.com"
    This is not an issue that can be resolved by Adobe Technical
    Support.
    This is a content development issue on the AOL side. You can
    choose to
    trust the location in the error message, but you do so at
    your own risk.
    We've informed AOL of the issue and are relying on them to
    repair it
    with their content developers.

  • Error installing Flash Player (for Firefox?)

    When trying to install the latest Flash player (10.3) on my Windows XP machine, I get the error "The procedure entry point CM_Get_DevNode_Status_Ex could not be located in the dynamic link library SETUPAPI.dll"
    I hit OK and it continues.
    Now I have the Flash player working in Google Chrome, but it will not work in Firefox.
    HELP??!!

    It sounds like you have a corrupted setupapi.dll on your system.  What files do you have in your C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash folder?  I'd recommend downloading and running the free version of Malwarebytes.  Once your system checks out clean, you might want to take a look at this page for solutions on getting a valid copy of that dll back in place:
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/setupapi-dll-not-found-missing-error.ht m
    In particular, I'd check out the sfc /scannow command.

  • Error: Adobe Flash Player 9 run slowly!

    Hi folks,
    I am working since a long time on a big model. Now I am nearly complete but something is going wrong after deploying into the portal.
    Compiling and deploying works fine. But when I start to run my application, the program is getting aborted with following error pop-up: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?". After this error message, I have to click yes, since nothing responses anymore when I don't do so.
    I am calling a huge number of Bapis in my model. When I delete one of the last called Bapi in the model sequence the above described problem doesn't occur anymore. But I need all Bapis in the model!
    Do I have the chance to attach my model somewhere to give you the chance to have a look at it? Maybe it would be much easier then to solve the problem.
    I am looking forward to here from you.
    Thank you very much.
    Aylin.

    Hi Marcel, hi Benni,
    first of all thank you for your answers.
    I have uploaded the exported model, which you can download following this link:
    Maybe, to answer the question of Benni, some description of my model:
    I am working with 3 layers, which are parts of a wizard.
    In the first layer you can select between 3 entries in a drop-down-box and jump to the next layer with pushing the button "next". Depending on which entry you have choosen from the drop down box, you will be shown one of the 3 form views in the second layer (I worked here with a store element and visibility condition).
    In the second layer now, you can choose several entries clicking the clickboxes. Clicking the button "next" you will jump to the next layer.
    Here is a value help to search for customers (ERP-Customer Table). After you have choosen a customer, Project Number and Project Description for 2 projects will be entered.
    After clicking the submit button the main process starts in the backend:
    A cprojects template will be copied and changed regarding to the entered project data. This will be done for 2 projects in parallel. Next step ist to read out of a table the corresponding internal order from the first project and use it as input to create an Sales Order. In parallel also the Internal Order of the second project will be searched. After the Sales Order is created with the Internal Order of the first project, the second Internal Order will be used as input to change the existing Sales Order. Depending on if the "Data Conversion" component in the second layer is clicked, als an Purchase Order will be created (worked with a condition here).
    The 2 form views are the output of the steps described (2 projects, Internal Orders and Purchase Order).
    Since I have to create the project structure depending on which components have been checked in the second layer, I am working that way, that I am using a project structure where all components are in it. Depending on which components have been selected, I am deleting the ones, which have been not selected from the existing Project (I am doing this only for the first Project). Therefore I have to load the Project Definition of the Project (condition), I have to load the Project Phases which contain tasks to delete (i.e. when "Data Conversion" is not clicked, Project Phase 3 has to be loaded, since this component as a task under Project Phase 3. I worked also with conditions here). Then I have to delete the appropriate task (condition). Since the Bapis do not have a commit part in them, I have also to run commit Bapis to submit the changes into the backend (cProjects Commit Work).
    To come back to Benni's question, if the last Bapis are working: Yes, they do. The same model worked on Thursday evening. And now, I always get the same error message. I do not really know, how to work with this timer. Can you give me advice?
    I don't know, if you have access to our systems. But if you need test data to run the model, let me know.
    Thank you very much.
    Aylin.

  • Error on Flash Player download page

    Dear Adobe,
    I have discovered an error on the download page for flash:
    On the page you are given the option to download other totally unrelated software such as McAfee and Google Chrome. And even worse you have to actively remove the checkmark to avoid downloading this 3rd party software before you hit the download button. Truly, this can't be the intended behaviour of the download page, as people go there solely to download the flashplayer and the page is advertised as having this function only.
    Otherwise, if this is the intended behaviour of the page, Adobe should be very much ashamed of themselves. The only people actually downloading the 3rd party software are people who is either
    a) to much in a hurry to read the page and just hit the download button.
    b) inexperienced users that might not even discover that this 3rd party software is being installed.
    It is never good customer care to force things on the costumers are not interested in and/or exploiting customers ignorence. Since I would never expect such a behaviour from solid and reputable coorporation as Adobe I can only assume that it in fact _is_ an error on the download page for the Flash player.
    I'm expecting you to correct this error as soon as possible.
    regards,

  • Star type icon error in flash player

    Hi All,
    We have created dashboards in a tool (Xcelsius) which exports them in SWF format. The dashboard is then run in the browser. The image/sign displayed in the marked area is sort of a error we get, which freezes the dashboard. No text errors are displayed. This can be reproduced using Adobe Flash Activex 10 and 11.
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

    I've never seen this before.  It doesn't look like a normal error to me.  Have you tried contacting Xcelsius to see if they've seen this?  Have you tried running this content under the debug Flash Player?

  • Lightroom 64-bit error loading flash player

    I just upgraded my computer to Win7 x64, and installed the most recent version of Lightroom which, of course, installed the 64-bit version of Lightroom 2.6.
    My problem, I get an error message whenever I go to the Web module:
    An unexpected error occurred while loading a module:
    Assertion failed: lua_pcall(L,2,1,0)==0
    Then if I click to continue, I get the message: Failure to load flash player
    Has anyone encountered this? Any solutions? I believe I have the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player installed. I'm stymied about how to go forward and I'm in the middle of rebuilding my portfolio gallery using SlideshowPro for Lightroom. I can still "build it" but I can't preview any of what I'm doing on screen in Lightroom.
    Thanks for the help.
    Nemo

    Thanks for your replies. I've read that Apple, for instance, won't support Flash on the iPhone (which I'd dearly love) because it's waiting for the "latest and greatest" HTML to replace it. Pretty silly really, since overnight, Flash won't disappear from sites that are already deeply coded in it. All you have to look at is the JPEG2000 spec to see that virtually no one has embraced this improved JPEG codec. Even Photoshop requires you install it as a goodie.
    Charlie, how did you get your Lightroom 64-bit to use the Flash player? Or are you still running the 32-bit under Win7 x64? I wish I hadn't updated my Lightroom, since I was running 2.5 32-bit and the player would still work. The stupid thing is, 64-bit Windows has been coming a long time. I downloaded (though never installed) 64-bit WinXP. Vista x64 was the first really major implementation of it, and now, most new computer systems (from Dell for instance) automatically ship with the 64-bit operating system. The raodmap was out there a long time. It annoys the crap out of me that suddenly a major component of Lightroom is non-functional.
