Contextual Menu Access to Services

I would love to be able to CTRL-Click on something in Safari and have a contextual menu that includes Services - Mail.
The method is to go under the Safari menu and select Services then Mail then the choice. More pointing and clicking than I would like to do.
Does anyone know of a shortcut?
Thanks.

    You can make a Safari keyboard shortcut for any item in any of Safari menus including this one.
    go to system preferences->keyboard&mouse->keyboard shortcuts.
    click on + and make a new shortcut. Choose "safari" as the application and "Send Selection" as the Menu Title.
    Now to invoke it you just select whatever you need in safari and enter your keyboard shortcut.

    and I realize that I can't access in Finder Contextual Menu the sub-menu named More for choose Automator > Create Workflow... from the sub-menu.
    Someone can help me to configure the finder in order to

    That page is out of date since it doesn't reflect the change in Snow Leopard that did away with the More contextual menu. Try this. System Preferences->Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts->Services->Development->enable Create Workflow. Close the prefPane, select the object, CONTROL-click->Services->Create Workflow.
    If that solves your issue, then send a message to the page's developer and ask them to update it.

  • IPhoto 09 and 11: spinning beach ball of death when accessing contextual menu.

    Whenever I right click to access the contextual menu, iPhoto gives me the spinning beach ball of death. This happens only when I right click on a photo from the events in the iPhoto library. It freezes for a few seconds then the spinning ball appears.
    This happened in iPhoto 09 so I upgraded to iPhoto 11, but the problem is still there. I have deleted all files from the previous version before installing iPhoto 11 but it didn't solve the problem. Those files were application support files, cache and preferences all in the library. I have even created a new library in iPhoto 11 and imported a few photos just to test it out, but the problem persisted. I just can't right click without having that spinning beach ball of death appear. The only solution is to force quit the application. This is very frustrating and I would appreciate any help.
    I am running Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
    Thanks

    Try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
    User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
    or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
    3 - try to launch iPhoto and check for any improvements.
    NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Services menu missing from contextual menu

    i think my services menu is broken. it doesn't show up at all in the contextual menu and from the application menu if i have say a pdf selected the only thing i see listed is 'new email with attachment' and services preferences. anyone else have this problem.

    Yes, can report the exact same issue as well.
    The loss of the services and automator menus from a contextual click is a real annoyance, and I really shouldn't have come to the Apple discussion forums to find this answer.
    My scenairo is that I'm an entourage user for corporate mail and services (Sorry, can't stand the in-built clients for this purpose, they irritate me to no end). I had an automator action setup to easily create a new email with the selected items from the finder with a simple right click.
    To do this now requires a whole new way of working, and to get back to some semblance of what I had before, as documented here, you have to de-select then re-select all the services in the services preference pane.
    And while we're on the subject - why oh why can't we set the default program which email actions/services are sent to for existing services.
    This is a real pain, and shows a distinct lack of polish in the end use expeirence for snow leopard, sigh.

  • Accessing Dictionary / Thesaurus with Contextual Menu

    If I have the Dictionary Application selected in the preferences, when I control click on a word, I get only the dictionary or the thesaurus (depending on the order I set in the preferences), but not both. If I have the Dictionary Panel selected in the preferences, after the panel appears, I click “more”, then I’ll have both the dictionary and the thesaurus. Am I missing something, because it would be nice to have the Dictionary Application come up right away with both?
    Steve Dutton

    Hi, Steve.
    Your post is a little hard to follow since you've not quite got the terminology correct. The short answer is that "Look up in Dictionary" is "working as designed."
    Let's see if I can clarify what's happening:
    1. In Dictionary > Preferences, under Contextual Menu, if you select "Open Dictionary application" then when you Control-click a selected word and select "Look up in Dictionary" in the contextual menu, it launches the Dictionary application and displays either the definition or thesaurus entry, depending on which is first in the list at the top of Dictionary Preferences.
    2. In Dictionary > Preferences, under Contextual Menu, if you select "Open Dictionary panel" then when you Control-click a selected word and select "Look up in Dictionary" in the contextual menu, a tiny window (the Dictionary panel opens showing either the definition or the thesaurus entry, depending on which is first in the list at the top of Dictionary Preferences. If you click More, this launches the Dictionary application, enabling you to see both the definition and thesaurus entries in one Dictionary application window.
    How the "Look up in Dictionary" contextual menu choice works on selected text depends on the setting of the Contextual Menu option in Dictionary Preferences and the first item in the list the top of those Preferences, as follows:
    • The Dictionary panel shows only one of the items for the selected text — definition or thesaurus entry — i.e. whichever is first in the list at the top of Dictionary Preferences. One then has to click More to see both definition and thesaurus entry in a window in the Dictionary application
    • The Dictionary application likewise shows only one of the items for the selected text — definition or thesaurus entry —  i.e. whichever is first in the list at the top of Dictionary Preferences.
    Note that if you make changes in Dictionary's Preferences, you have to close the Dictionary Preferences for the changes to take effect.
    It appears one only receives both the definition and thesaurus entry for a word simultaneously if:
    (a) One has set Dictionary Preferences as noted in item 2 above and clicks More after having selected text and opened the Dictionary panel via "Look up in Dictionary."
    (b) One launches Dictionary independently, searches for a word directly in Dictionary, and then selects that word from the list of search results.
    If you'd like to suggest that Apple change these behaviors in Dictionary, submit a Mac OS X Feedback.
    Good luck!

  • Contextual Menu Not Working

    Hi!
    My Contextual Menu doesn't work in Safari, nor in Mail - possibly not in other apps, as well, but I haven't really checked. For instance, say I select a word on a web page. If I try to "right-click" by putting down two fingers on the pad and clicking - nothing happens. Also, if I hover over a word, and do <controlcommandd>, no Dictionary pop-up. Dictionary is the main thing I use the CM for, but no other options are available.
    It used to work, but I don't know what I might've done to change this. I've tried clearing CM items from both /Library/Contextual Menu Items/ and ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items/ and restarting, but no go. I can't think of anything I might've installed that would coincide with the problem. Any ideas, folks?

    That's odd, I've only seen "system flippers" in relation to trying to open an older PPC app on an Intel.
    Certainly the command for rebuild Launch Services should not give that.
    I'd run Verify Disk from /Utilities/Disk Utility and also Repair Permissions and see what it turns up.
    1. Navigate to Utilities/DiskUtility and launch Disk Utility.
    2. Choose your volume (usually the second icon)
    3. Choose "First Aid" tab
    4. Click on "Repair Permissions"
    Also run "verify" disk. If the disk needs repair:
    Repair Disk:
    Steps for using Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc or Install Disk 1 that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair.
    If you repair errors run it until no errors found.

  • HP LaserJet CP1525nw menu access

    I am unable to access the Service Menu on my HP LaserJet CP1525nw printer. I get a message saying "Menu access is diabled". Any help I can get with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hey Dan_the_Man_21,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    One way to fix the option of having the menu disabled, is to try and re-enable the option through the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of the printer. To be able to access the EWS, you will need to print a configuration report to get the IP address of the printer. I have included the document 'Printing a Configuration Report'.
    Next you will need to open up your Internet browser, and type the IP address into the address bar. Once the page loads with your printers information, you will need to click on the System tab. Then click on Administration on the left hand side.
    Please let me know if this works for you.

    Hi,
    java.io.IOException: Unable to open connection to host "128.9.125.6:8000". Connection timed out: could be due to invalid address. first check it are you able to connect the WSNavigator. I think you are not able to connect the WSNavigator and are you able to see the WebService in WSNavigator?
    Procedure
    To import a Web service model, proceed as follows:
           1.      Choose the context menu entry -
    Create Model on the -
    Models node of the relevant component.
           2.      In the model wizard, choose Import Web Service Model followed by Next.
           3.      In the second wizard window, enter a model name and specify the package and source code directory. The name of the proxy package is created automatically when you specify the model package.
           4.      Select whether your Web service source is from a local server, is addressed using a URL, or whether it is a UDDI service.
           5.      If you select Local File System or URL, choosing Next will take you to the following window in which you enter a local WSDL URL or select one by choosing Browse.
           6.      If you selected the option UDDI or URL, choosing Next will take you to the following wizard window in which you either enter a WSDL URL of a UDDI service directly or select one by choosing UDDIu2026
    Enter the WSDL description of the Web service in the Wsdl field u2013 for example, http://webservices.matlus.com/scripts/emailwebservice.dll/wsdl/IemailService for an e-mail service.
    You do not need to make any entries in the next step, Proxy Definition / URI Package Mappings. Choose Finish to close the window.
           7.      Switch to the Package Explorer view, select the file lport1.lp in the directory \src\packages\<myPackage>\, and check the port entries.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Contextual menu (rightMouseClick) ... new text file ... in 10.6 - howto?

    "OMC" worked superb in 10.5 - not anymore in 10.6
    "nufile" does not seem to work in 10.6, neither?
    ! Please tell me how I can
    click with the right mouse button into a finder folder, and
    (a) create a new empty text file there, or
    (b) open a terminal in that folder.
    Thanks a lot!

    old contextual menus are completely gone in snow leopard. they have been all replaced by services. there are plenty of 3rd party services by now that provide various contextual menu functionality. but you can also easily make services that do what you want using automator.
    for example, to open a terminal window in selected folder make the following service using automator. make it accept folders. the workflow itself should consist of the following single "run applescript" action
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #ADD8E6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
    set ppath to POSIX path of ((item 1 of input) as alias)
    end tell
    tell application "Terminal"
    activate
    do script "cd " & quoted form of ppath
    end tell
    end run</pre>
    save it and it will become available in the right-click menu when you right-click on a folder.

  • Contextual Menu Plug-in for Finder in Snow Leopard

    I have Contextual Menu Plug-in for Finder which works with my application, but it doesn't work in Snow Leopard. I read that plugins are not supported in 64bit environment. There is still Menus.h file with CFPlugin interface in 10.6 SDK, but my plugin not loaded by Finder even it is compiled for x86_64.
    I read about revamped Services that they should be used, but I didn't find a clue how to create dynamic menu with tree of items.
    I need to communicate with another application which runs on background and creates menu items in dependency of selected items, their path and other conditions.
    Application is written in Java and CMPlugin (which doesn't work in 10.6) is in C++.
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi
    Guys, any suggestion?

  • Bug or Feature? Array Custom Contextual Menu Destroys "Delete" and "Insert" Element!

    Step to Reproduce:
    - Create an Array (doesn't matter of what type).
    - Ctrl-M (to switch to Run Mode)
    - Notice that:
           - when you Right-Click on the Array borders, you have access to an "Empty Array" menu item among other things
           - when you Right-Click in an Array element, you have access to an "Insert Element Before" and a "Delete Element" menu item among other things
    - Now switch back to Edit Mode and modify the contextual menu in the following way:
            - Advanced>>Run-Time Shortcut Menu>>Edit...
            - Edit>>Copy Entire Menu
            - Switch to "Custom" menu (instead of "Default"): the menu disappears and is replaced by a single ??? item
            - Edit>>Paste: The default menu reappears with the ??? on top
            - Create you favorite custom menu item by editing the ??? item (say: Do Nothing)
    - Save the menu with the control and switch to Run Mode (Ctrl-M).
    - Now try the first 3 steps above: wherever you right-click, you have access to the Custom Menu, but the Array Element contextual menu is GONE.
    In other words, you cannot (it seems) define a custom contextual menu for an array without destroying the default contextual menu for its elements.
    Therefore, if you want to preserve the ability to Insert and Delete Elements in an array, you have to add these two items to the Array contextual menu and juggle with the position of the right-click to figure out whether or not to display them...

    Well, I created in LabVIEW 2012 such a control and added part of the default menu in the way you described with copy-paste as a submenu to an Edit entry in my custom menu and it did not disappear:

    The logic is wrong. Go into Network Magic Options. On the General Tab, make sure that the following are not checked:
    Do not add Network Magic Folders icon to Open/Save dialogs
    Do not add commands to Explorer shortcut menus
    Click OK and reboot the computer and see if gone.

  • Contextual menu items remain after Bitcasa removal - why?

    Hello there.
    I'm looking for a solution of Bitcasa context menu items that won't go away. After removing the app they still appear in the Finder context menus. I already searched the usual places like Keyboard Shortcuts, Services, etc. but couldn't find any entry that explains why it is still there.
    Anyone got an idea why I can't remove it?

    Okay. You got me on the wrong foot there. Sorry for being touchy.
    I contacted the Bitcasa support and did everything they wrote on their support pages and more. I even got terminal commands from them to remove everything Bitcasa manually:
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/Bitcasa.app
    rm -f ~/Library/Preferences/com.bitcasa.*
    rm -f ~/Library/Preferences/com.Bitcasa.*
    rm -f /Users/*/Library/Preferences/com.bitcasa.*
    rm -f /Users/*/Library/Preferences/com.Bitcasa.*
    rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.bitcasa.*
    rm -r ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.bitcasa.Bitcasa.plist
    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.bitcasa.*
    The problem seems to be that I actually removed everything identifiable as part of Bitcasa code. And that's the only reason I cant't get rid of this darn menu. I'm not a programmer but I usually know my way around when it comes to apps. What puzzles me is the fact that there seems to no source for this contextual menu item.
    Is that even possible?

  • Graph contextual menu question

    This is probably basic, but I am trying to understand how Graph contextual menus function.
    In a typical XY Graph, we have the option to modify the (runtime) contextual menu, which is something I am increasingly doing to extend the functionality of that object. For instance I increasingly use a "Delete Plot" or "Paste Plot" (and probably should replace the "Export Data to Clipoard" by a "Copy Plot" item, now that I think of it...).
    Anyhow, this contextual menu is available when I right-click on:
    - the Plot area
    - the Graph Palette
    - the Scale Legend
    - the Plot Legend (except for the Plot Style region).
    - the Cursor Keypad thingy
    but not when I click on:
    - the Cursor Legend
    - the Plot Style regions of the Plot Legend
    In the latter two cases, a specific runtime menu pops-up.
    This makes perfect sense (well, not exactly: why does the Keypad thingy give me access to a Plot contextual menu? Likewise for the Graph Palette?) but like we may want to modify the Graph runtime menu proper, we may (we do!) want to modify the runtime menu for the the two outliers above.
    Why can't we?

    X,
    I believe this is due to the properties being separate objects, as such they do not have access to each others properties.  I found another forum post where a workaround is described.
