Continous update after iTunes install

Hi all,
seems like since I installed the latest iTunes update my iPod does a full update everytime I connect it to my PC.
I have close to 4,000 songs and takes a long time to finish.
I am not possitive it is the iTunes update that is causing this problem but this did not happen before.
Has anybody experienced this?
Any recommendations/suggestions?
Thanks!

Howdy b noir,
I guess I could have dug a little deeper
I think your fix will work. Heres some of my search results that you might find interesting:

First try updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5, using an installer downloaded from the Apple website:

Messages stuck in updating after Yosemite install.  Tried re-install of Yosemite and quit messages, still unable to access.

    Hi,
Go to the ~/Library/Attachments folder.  (well it should be a folder).
If it is not a Folder then rename it and create a New folder with the same name.
    restart Messages.
Or if you have a Time Machine backup replace the Non folder item with an Original from just before the update.

  • Can't reboot PC after itunes install

    Please Help!
I just installed the latest itunes 6 (inc QT) download on my main Windows 2000 work PC and now i can't even boot it, just sticks about 2/3 through the progress bar, looks like a QT/Matrox graphics driver clash or something, but i've tried with a different solo Nvidia gfx card, still same story, and safe mode won't even come up. looks like i'm stuffed, and losing hair more rapidly than usual.
This looks like a big mistake, any help appreciated, self-employed and desperate..., can't believe we're still in the installation stone age, this is going to trash my week.

I have had exactly the same problem and it is the iTunes or Quick time software causing the problem. I am running Windows 2000 service pack 4. Both iTunes and Quick time seemed to install OK. I could open the applications after installation, etc. I could even update the iTunes software. Upon trying to restart, the computer hung on the Windows installation splash screen, 2/3rds of the way on the progress bar, when the machine is loading driver files. I too was unable to boot in safe mode. Fortunately, I had Roxio Go Back installed and could revert the hard drive and "undo" the installation. After that the computer was fine, so it is not your hard drive. It is the buggy Apple software.

  • Smart Playlists not updating after iTunes upgrade

Since updating to iTunes 7.5.0.20, my iPod Photo no longer updates my Smart Playlists automatically
    Any reasons, fixes, suggestions?

Hi, I'm having a similar problem. I recently switch back from MediaCenter (on windows to iTunes). I did a fresh install of iTunes, reformatted my iPod and began using it.
I have smart playlists based on playcount. I notice that when I sync my iPod, the play counts do not change most of the time in my iTunes library. I just listened to a few songs and songs I listened to last night at 11:00pm were listed however, songs I listened to yesterday morning were not.
I'm gradually remembering why I moved off iTunes to begin with. MediaCenter may have the occasional crash but at least they can manage this simple task.

  • My Iphoto Library won't upgrade / update after Lion install.

Ok so i updated my OS X to Lion and everything seemed fine but the Iphoto Library had an update and I installed it after this. Now i'm getting a message that my Iphoto library needs to upgrade to be able to run on this version of Iphoto. It starts to upgrade fine but never stops i just have a wheel as pointer like its thinking or trying to upgrade. It will go like this for days. I have GB's worth of photos i can't seem to get to. Help

    To repair the Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Cannot BULK download App Updates after iTunes 9.0.1 Update

I had a bunch of updates sitting there, and I decided to update iTunes before doing them. I thought that would be smart. However, after the iTunes update to 9.0.1 was complete I got this message when I tried to bulk download the app updates:
*"The information on this page is outdated.*
*Click OK to refresh the page. If you have available updates after refreshing, click Download All Free Updates."*
I don't know what "refresh the page" means; I tried restarting iTunes & restarting the computer and nothing is working. The information is not outdated, as I really do have to download all the updates that are shown. I had to MANUALLY download each update, which is kind of a pain, but at least I was able to get the updates. The "download all free updates" (for a bulk download) button refuses to work though.
Any ideas? I don't want to have to manually update each app every time if I don't have to. Thanks!

All I have to do is select Applications from the Library list - then in the lower right corner select - Check for updates - if there are any then I select Download updates from the page that comes up and iTunes d/l the updates.

  • PC won't boot with CDRom Drives hooked up after iTunes install

    Hello All,
After installing iTunes (initial, first time install on this machine) the computer would not fully boot. It would get to the Windows starting screen and the indicator bar would reach about 2/3 of the way complete and sit there. I tried rebooting in safe mode and it would still get stuck at seemingly the same point. After attempting several things to try and correct the issue, I finally stumbled upon that if I disconnect the CD drives the computer boots fine with iTunes installed. I've searched through the past records and saw some similar issues, but nothing quite the same and a lot of the fixes involved running diagnostics on the CD drives, but I can't do that currently as I have to have them disconnected to use the computer. Ideas? Help!
    Thanks,
    Jen

  • Windows 8 Audio has locked up after itunes install?!

Anyone got a clue how to restore sound operations on a windows 8 system after an itunes install.
I uninstalled all apple products, but the audio is still broken. Automated problem resolution didn't work.
My last option is to do a restore, but that's kind of ugly. Any other suggestions?
Anybody reported iTunes 11 to DHS as a virus yet?
    Thanks
    m

    To whom it may concern:
Be forewarned ... Execute a system checkpoint for restore prior to executing iTunes 11(64) installation on Windows 8 platforms. Be prepared to execute a restore after installation given it appears that iTunes 11 will change basic settings on systems with multiple advamced audio systems (hdmi + analog) resulting in configurations that point parts of the audio stream at disconnected hardware/software streams.
These errors will result in all audio playback system "freezing", or failing to load and sequence audio files properly. Quick resolution is to restore the system from checkpoint and removing all traces of the iTunes package.
    Man i really miss Steve!

  • IPod wont turn on or update after iTunes 7, please help

It's a 2004, 20gb iPod with click-wheel. A friend gave it to me, if I can try to repair it. Apparently it died after installing iTunes 7. The iPod wont turn on or respond to anything. The only time it does is when its connected to a computer. At first iTunes reported that the iPod is corrupted and needs to be restarted. And when it turns on, theres an icon with an exclamation mark and an URL pointing me to Apple's support. At first i tried with various older firmware files and I got the messega that there was an error formatting the ipod. iTunes 7 gave a 1418 or 1429 error at the end of the updating process.
I tried with resetting it, putting it in the disk mode and then erasing and/or partitioning it with Disk utility and it was always the same. I tried unplugging all the other devices when updating, just like recommended. Again nothing worked.
    Here comes the peculiar part:
Then I did a complete erase, writting zeros over the whole disk in Disk utility. It took ages and then finally stopped with an error just before finishing. After that I can update my iPod just fine with iTunes 7, I can even name it again and start adding songs(it takes forever for just one song). Even older updaters say its fine. But after unplugging it from the computer its still dead and it still displays the error icon. All that got me so confused.
I find it hard to believe that a hardware error suddenly appeared just after installing iTunes 7 and I am really hoping for any help I could get because I dont want to give up on it just yet. Thanks.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Windows 8.1 Professional x64: Windows will not run Windows Update after fresh install

Greetings everyone.  I'm having a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out.  I'm developing an image with the following specs:
    Hardware:
    Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook Convertible
    Haswell i7
    8 GB RAM
    256 SSD HD
    Software:
    Windows 8.1 Professional x64
    Problem description:
After formatting and partitioning the hard drive (UEFI) with a corporate copy of Windows 8.1 x64, the laptop is booted up in Audit mode.  No OEM drivers or software is installed.  Windows is then activated to the KMS server and verified.
I then connect to a hotspot (no proxy required) and open up IE 11.  I click tools and select Windows Update.  The laptop then searches and searches for updates and never finds any.  I've let it search for over 10 hours.  The laptop never
    returns an error message.
    Troubleshooting performed:
    1.  I've tried different copies of Windows 8.1 - same result.
    2.  I've tried installing the OS with different types of media (external hd and multiple bootable USB drives) - same result.
    3.  I've disable the Windows Update service, deleted the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder, restarted the Windows Update service and rebooted laptop - same result
    4.  I've installed this copy of Windows 8.1 on different models of laptops with no OEM drivers or software installed - same result.
    5.  I've installed all of the OEM device drivers in the correct order and ensured that the device manager is clear of bang signs - same result.
    6.  Date and time is set correctly.
Has anyone else experienced this with Windows 8.1 x64?  If I take a copy of Windows 7 x64 or 8 x64 and install it on this laptop, it updates Windows without any issues.  The problem seems to be with Windows 8.1.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Windows will not update after clean install

ok, I hope this isn't a common topic, I have searched everywhere for a solution. My laptop was slow, maybe infected with malware. I refreshed it and it wouldn't allow me to update and reinstall 8.1. So, I reset it. Still no updates. I got my hands on a windows 8 disk, formatted the drive and reinstalled windows. I still can't update, I have tried update troubleshooter and microsoft fix it. Neither worked, the updater searches and then says sometimes even update needs an update. So i've tried that. it happens often and it wont complete the updater update, even after troubleshooter claims it has fixed any errors. I  got one error message earlier in week which I can't rememer. I searched out all the info and fixes on it and got nowhere. I gave up on fixing update and tried all the other installers I could find. The only one I could get to work was WSUS. I downloaded all the updates and installed them, in configuration there was an error and it removed all updates. I am losing my mind, this should be simple and has been going on for two weeks. Please help!

    Hi @ludditial
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and tips.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I understand that you are unable to update to Windows 8.1.  You tried doing a refresh and reset but there was not change.
You then formatted the drive and installed Windows 8 from a Windows disk but again unable to update to Windows 8.1.
You have ran the troubleshooter and tried to update the updater to no avail.
As you did the last installation from a MIcrosoft disk, I suggest contacting MIcrosoft support for assistance or do a  HP
    recovery.
This Microsoft article may help you to overcome this issue.   Installing the Windows 8.1 Update (KB 2919355).
There is a section on the bottom of the page for troubleshooting the installation.
Here is  a link  to  Contact Microsoft.
If you formatted the entire drive when you did the Windows 8 installation from the disk you will no longer have the recovery partition and will need to do the recovery from CD/DVDs or USB key.
If you did not create recovery disks, please contact HP support and inquire about obtaining a recovery kit.

  • Java Update - After deployed install and settings

    Hi there,
In our managed Windows 2000 environment with Windows XP Pro clienst (SP2) we use Active directory to deploy software packages.
We are currently trying to install J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5, which works perfectly. We have made a transform file for giving answers to the MSI file of the Runtime Environment.
In the tranform file we have specified as wel that "Java Update" will be disabled after installation. This works well, too. After deploying the package, however, we notice that when a user logs on onto the workstation, a message is diplayed on screen, asking the user whether or not he want to re-enable the Java Update mechanism.
Is there a way (e.g. by a registry key, or another MST adaptation) to prevent this message?
Another question: is it possible to set the "Temporary Files", "Jar compression" level and several security settings like "Warn if certificate authority can not be verified" via registry keys or within a transform file?
Any help would be kindly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sander.

I don't know what happened, but AFAICT, you did the job wrongly. I suggest redoing it this way (TM help files) and not worrying about fixing the mucked up system:
+*To revert to a previous version of Mac OS X:*+
+1. Insert the Mac OS X installation disc in your computer’s optical drive (or an optical drive connected to your computer).+
    +2. Double-click on Install Mac OS X+
+3. When the Language Chooser appears, select your language, and then click the Continue button (looks like an arrow).+
    +4. Choose Utilities->Restore System From Backup.+
+5. In the Restore Your System dialog, click Continue.+
+6. Select your Time Machine backup disk.+
+7. Select the Time Machine backup you want to restore. To restore your computer to the state it was in before you erased it, choose the most recent backup.+
    +8. Follow the onscreen instructions.+
Alternatively, if the SuperDuper! backup was a bootable one of your previous installation, restore it. That's better and faster than mucking with the TM restoration procedure above.

  • Quicktime doesn't work after Itunes install

After installing Itunes 7.0.2, I suddenly can't view Quicktime files. I had Quicktime installed before, but obviously it was overwritten when I installed Itunes. Now, when I attempt to view any .mov files, the audio is played, but the video is a scrambled picture of garbage.
    Any thoughts?

Down load and install quicktime by itself. That should correct the issue.
