Continual blank registration window preventing startup of Photoshop CS 3 on Mac OS 10.6.8

I have been using Photoshop CS3 Extended for quiet a while without problems.Suddenly a blank registration window shows up whenever I need to use the program.Because I am unable to do anything with a blank window I cannot dispose of it and I cannot get past it to complete the startup process so I have to force quit the program.I have registered this version probably more than once so I can't imagine that to be a problem.
I always use a partitioned drive with a full copy of the OS and applications installed on it.The same problem exists with that copy of Photoshop as well.
I am using an early Mac Pro with Snow Leopard.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it from my original disc but the same problem still exists. How do I solve the problem of being "locked out" of the application as I am also locked out of work as well ?
Upgrading to a later version is not an option at this point.
Thank you for any help and assistance that will get me working again.

I am speechless....it worked a charm ! I can't belive that darn window has gone so I just keep starting and quiting the program to be sure it really is gone for good...
I wish I could solve all my problems by just disconnecting the internet and clicking on a "never" button.....so easy, so darn simple and so elegant it almost defies description !
Thanks a million Curt...you saved my day as well as my rear end....

    rebel1568,
All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC.  You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop.  You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines.  You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows  on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

  • How do I get rid of Registration Window preventing access to Acrobat?

On removing Acrobat XI and re-installing Acrobat 11.0.0, entering my serial number, and updating to 11.0.08, I get a registration window ("Register Your Product") that (1) Pops up anew when you click on "Cancel", (2) Goes away if you click on the corner "x" and select "Quit", but that does NOT bring up Acrobat, (3) If you attempt to register with it, its Sign-In window says your Adobe ID and password do not match (even though you can then go to the Adobe website and sign in with them) and if you go the new-password route, getting the email from Adobe and entering a new password, the new password gives the same message, that your Adobe ID and the new password do not match (even though with this new password, also, you can then go to the Adobe website and sign in with it)!!!!
WinXP SP3.  This started with 11.0.08 which Secunia PSI had me upgrade to 11.0.09 which gave one error window after another ("Reader (sic) must close" - although the detail showed it was the Acrobat .exe that was having the problem) and which I could not stop except to uninstall Acrobat.  I went to the Adobe Acrobat Upgrade Versions page and as 11.0.10 had just come on (I figured, "Oh, Adobe has found and solved the problem") so I reinstalled 11.0.0, entered my serial number and upgraded to 11.0.10.  Again I got one error message after another (different message - not recalled).  So I uninstalled, reinstalled 11.0.0, entered the serial number, updated to 11.0.08 (which Secunia PSI said was the version I started with) and got the above Registration Window from Hell.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

The case of differing number, that did have text in it and referred to this Forum post, was established 4 days ago.  I checked it and opened it every day, but there was absolutely no response from Adobe.  During all this time it was labeled as "Open.  Waiting for Adobe Response".  Today it was labeled "Withdrawn" and contained an explanation from Adobe that it was Withdrawn by them because there was no response from me, and this despite that fact that the case still contained absolutely no response from Adobe to the initial post, much less one that I was expected to respond to.  Also today I noticed that my store account no longer contained my downloadable Acrobat Pro XI purchased in Oct. 2013.  It was there (although the 11.0.07 version instead of the original 11.0.0 version) 10 days ago on the 10th when I downloaded it in case my original was somehow corrupted.  The Adobe website, observed  today, answers, to the question, "How long is my download available?", "Software downloads remain in your account for three years after the date of purchase. Adobe reserves the right to change this policy at any time with or without notice."
To carry on my own attempts to get access to my purchased, downloaded and used (for over a year) Acrobat Pro XI:  In my original post the error message immediately after the initial update "Reader (sic) must close" _did_, I now realize, refer to Adobe Reader as it referred to AcroRd32.exe which is Reader, not Acrobat.  The continuous flow of error messages involving Reader (which was installed on my computer) when I was only trying to use Acrobat made me think the problem was due to some kind of coupling between the two.  So I uninstalled both and used the most recent CCleaner to clean the Registry.  I reinstalled Acrobat (the 11.0.07 version downloaded from the Adobe Store 10 days ago) and the Registration Window from Hell was again present and functioned in all ways just as before.  So I uninstalled Acrobat, Reader, and _all_ things Adobe, used CCleaner to clean the registry again and installed, this time, my original download from Oct. 2013, the 11.0.0 version of Acrobat Pro XI.  The Registration Window from Hell (RWH) was again present and functioned in all ways just as before.  It appears that the RWH is going out on the internet and there is returning to it, apparently from Adobe, the condition that, for my purchased Acrobat Pro XI, the Adobe ID and Password do not match when that is an obvious error as explained above.
So I will have to work with PDF files from now on without my purchased Acrobat XI Pro software which I used very successfully for over a year, and Adobe, apparently, could care less.

  • CS3 will not load past registration window

Suddenly today, trying to open CS3 I get blank registration window which it will not go beyond.
The application is there in the background but everything is greyed out. I must say I am not sure I have ever filld inal the registration details, I have just always pressed the 'later' button.
I must have had CS3 for years now – is it trying to force me to upgrade?
Anyone know how I can fix it?
    Cheers.

    Disconect internet
    Start CS3
    Say never to error screen
    reconnect to internet
Hopefully this should solve the issue:

  • Blank registration screen on CS3... do not get error window saying "Never Register"

I cannot remedy the CS3 blank-screen problem on my Mac (Safari OS) with the suggested fix, as I don't get an error window saying "Never Register" after disconnecting internet and re-launching CS3.  Any other ideas?

Hi Curt, I get the normal CS3 desktop (although nothing works) and the blank registration screen.  I do not get an error message or any other prompt telling me I can select "Never Register," even after disconnecting from the internet and relaunching CS3.  The only way I can get out of the "freeze" is to "Force Quit: CS3.  In other words, the suggested fix is not working for me.  Thanks Curt.

  • Why is my document window blank after opening a file in Photoshop CS5?

    can someone please help me?
<<  unnecessarily childish example of a blank document window removed >>

I don't find your cartoonish expletive language amusing, but I'll help you with your problem.
You need to visit the web page of the maker of your video card and download/install the latest display driver for your hardware / OS.
If you're unwilling or unable to do this, you can deconfigure OpenGL Drawing temporarily in your Edit - Preferences - Performance dialog (remembering to restart Photoshop after).  These are the features you'll lose without OpenGL:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405745.html

  • Acrobat Registration window continues to open repeatedly for no reason

I have this problem where every time i open acrobat up and the registration windows continues to open/show up every single time no matter what i do/press and i already registered the software with adobe.

I have the same problem. It's only been recently though.
Windows Vista Home Premium with Adobe Professional 8.1.2.
When I initially purchased Adobe Pro 8.0, it did not have this problem. It would appear that it's one of the updates that has caused this.
I originally registered Adobe Pro 8 when purchased, have "re-registered" twice to get rid of this message. It made no difference.
Remind me later makes no difference.
Don't remind me makes no difference.
The window opens every time I open Adobe Professional 8.1.2.
    Thanks.

  • Registration window won't go aw

Hi everyone. I have a Creative Zen V Plus model, and I'm running everything off Windows Vista Home Basic.
The Creative product registration window keeps prompting me to register my product, although I already have done so.
    I'll describe what happens.
.) A window appears which says "Gentle reminder: Register your creative products now to enjoy a host of benefits." which I can either click "OK" or "X" to close.
2.) Regardless of whatever I do, another window pops up, which reads "If you are registering portable products, please ensure that they are connected and switched on before clicking the OK Button. I cannot close the window. So I have to click OK.
3.)I am again taken to another window, except this time, it says "Welcome to our product registration program." But oddly enough, it says "No unregistered product detected."
What am I supposed to do to get this window to stop appearing? No matter what I do, the same windows keep popping up, and the cycle repeats itself, even if I go along with it and register Again and again, it keeps happening. Please help, any solutions would be appreciated.

There is a way to access all the applications/files that load at Startup, via Run -> and then type in MSCONFIG. There is a StartUp list there, if you untick something from that list it should prevent it from loading automatically, so you shouldn't see it pop up anymore.

  • Blank viewer window solution

Hi folks, just in case anyone has this happen to them. If you get a blank viewer window or the app freezeswhen you go to play video on a second monitor. The check that you have 'Default Calibration' set in your system preferences>Displays
I set up for an extended Photoshop session for print based work and forgot to change back to iMac default. As a result FCPX will not be able to find a source for AV output. You will get sound and everything will work but you will never see a picture. Perhaps a permanent fix will come one day.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Hi Seb,
It's already been validated that turning off DEP works. however, DEP is mandatory for this customer.
I did come across the release notes for IE8 at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/dd441788, indicating the following,
Turn off Data Execution Prevention group policy
The Group Policy setting, Turn off Data Execution Prevention (Windows Components | Internet Explorer | Security Features), does not currently function as expected. While the Internet Control Panel option will appear to be disabled, Data Execution Prevention is still turned on. This is a known problem and will be corrected it in a future update.
    Thanks,

  • BT 3.1 - No more windows 7 startup sound

    Hey there Apple forums!
I decided to install Windows 7 on my Mac a while ago. I had Bootcamp 3.0 and all the problems related to audio that BT 3.0 had, including the red optical light. Once BT 3.1 was released, I decided to install it. Notice how I hadn't changed any driver from Bt 3.0 until I installed 3.1.
Once I installed the update, most audio problems were immediately solved. No more ghostly red optical light, no more laggy audio, etc. Audio output was still low, but nothing "Enchance audio output" couldn't solve. I was seemingly happy, until i realized that the windows 7 startup sound played no more.
By startup sound I mean the chime that plays when you're in the login screen. This is a very small glitch, as it used to work in Bt 3.0, even with the audio issues it had.
Is there any solution? And before you begin asking protocol questions, yes, the startup sound IS enabled, yes I have the default Windows sounds set, I haven't changed the theme (don't know if that even matters, it shouldn't matter).
If it helps, when i connect two low speakers to the audio output jack and start Windows, and raise the volume, I CAN hear the startup chime in the login screen. But there's not even a faint sound when the external speakers are gone.
Should anyone know a solution, please help me with a post. And the speakers I have suck, so they're not an option.

    Hi
Had same problem, tried everything like reinstalling drivers but still the problem continued. However today i tried changing the driver for the sound card to the generic driver and rebooted my macbook pro. on startup the sound card would not work on the generic driver and the system kicked in with an automatic troubleshoot and installed the correct drivers.
Somehow this has enabled the startup sound to work and the system doesn't startup in a muted state.
Haven't a clue why or how this has worked or how long it will continue to work but give it a go.

    1.         I have a security app on my computer, Flashbrief. I have it checked in the hide column but whenever I turn on the computerit appears in the top menu line.
I've never heard of this software, and cannot find any reference to it online, which is a bit concerning.  What is it supposed to do?  There really isn't much need for security software on a Mac.
    2.         Whenever Iturn on the computer, a new blank document window in MS Word 2011 appears.  I do not have this listed in the login items.
In Mac OS X 10.7, any applications left open when you shut down or restart are re-opened at startup, and any documents left open in an app when you quit are re-opened when you launch them again.  The former can be controlled by unchecking the box in the restart/shutdown alert:
You will need to do this each time you shut down or restart, it won't remember that setting.
The latter can be deactivated by unchecking the box in System Preferences -> General:
    3.         I have a current model of Apple wireless mouse. It keeps getting stuck in text or e-mails and I have to somehowotherwise move the cursor to break it free.
That does not sound normal, but I don't use a mouse with my MBP, so I can't provide a solution, other than to try replacing the batteries in the mouse.

  • Project window went blank. Windows 7. Layers still show on right side of screen, but nothing in workspace.

I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a windows computer running windows 7. I was in the middle of a large project when the workspace window suddenly went black. The list of layers still shows on the right side of the screen, but the workspace itself is black ... no trace of my project. I rebooted the computer and restarted CS6. Other saved projects open normally, but this one comes up with a blank black window. I have a lot of hours invested in this project. Can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks, Agnes.

Update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website.
If you cannot update your video card driver for some reason, then disable GPU usage in Photoshop's preferences and relaunch Photoshop.

  • Registration Window keeps opening?

    Hi
I recently installed Windows 7RC on my computer and then reinstalled all my Adobe software.
My system is set to dual boot to Windows XP and Windows 7 RC.
This is more of an anoyance then a real problem but if anyone has any ideas how to stop it, I would like to hear them.
Since reinstall everytime I open any of my Adobe software, Indesign CS3, Illustrator CS3, Photoshop CS2, Premiere, the registration window opens.
The first few times I went through the process of registering again with all of them.  I recieved the "Thank you for registering E-mail etc.
    This doesn't happen in XP.
Anyone have any idea how to stop this?
    Mike

    Hi again.
For what it is worth I haven't had any problems installing or running any of my Adobe software in Windows 7RC.
I'm running Photoshop CS3, Indesign CS3, Illustrator CS4, and Premiere 4.  I'm also running a lot of other software ( some very old ) and have had no problems with any of them with one exception.
The Only thing that won't seem to run is Norton Ghost 10, which doesn't want to install.
I'm still able to run it from my XP installation but when I get my new computer I may have to update it if I'm not going to dual boot.
I'm not pushing Microsoft but Windows 7 looks like what I have been wishing for, for years.
An operating system that really works, and fixes it's own problems when it detects one.
After not being able to get my scanner to work for a month with out booting into XP (no drivers availble from Epson, I looked for them myself on their web site), one day a popup appeared that said "Installing you scanner software" and then You're hardware is ready to use".  And that was it I logged into Photoshop and the scanner worked.
As soon as the drivers appeared it found them downloaded them and installed them all on it's own.
