Continual Problems with Skype-to-Skype calls TO Sw...

Let's see if the Skype Customer Service will respond to this inquiry in a manner which indicates that they have completely read and understood the situation which I am about to explain.
Over the past 8 years, I have been regularly using Skype to call family in Switzerland. That's Skype-to-Skype, not Skype-to-phone. I have either used a modern Macintosh (OS 10.6.8, using Skype 6.15) or most recently an iPhone5 (OS 8.1.3) and the downloaded Skype App. The person with whom I have been speaking in Switzerland has been using either a modern Windows PC or iPhone5.
Each time, I can't call them, and the person over there must first call me.
Each time, I can transmit a live picture to them, but I can not receive their picture.
Oh, yes, I just tried to message Skype Customer Service about this issue, and received the following message: “500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”

    You are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare.  Call them.  Let them deal w/it.

    Has the device always behaved this way? Did this start as a result of an update to the iOS software? If the problem is that bad, you should probably restore the iOS software and then restore from a backup. If that fails, restore as new and rebuild the device. If that fails, it's time for a trip to an Apple Store to let them have a look at the iPad.

  • Problems with answering and making calls

    I have owned a Droid 2 for almost a year now. I love it! But for the last few months I have had a problem with answering and making calls. Sometimes when I answer a phone call it connects like I have answered the call but I can't hear anything and the other person can't hear me. The call says I am connected and I can see the timer going but there is no communication. It does the same thing when I go to make calls sometimes. I can hit send and it connects the call but I can't hear anything. The timer is going and the other person answers but I can't hear anything. The only reason I know they answered is because they then call me back and leave a voicemail, sounding very confused. I have to restart my phone and then the problem is solved. But only for a little bit. I haven't been able to pick out a pattern or anything. It is random and very frustrating. I went into my local Verizon store about the issue and they arranged for me to receive a new, certified pre-owned phone because I pay insurance on my phone. I received the phone the next day and everything went great, for a few days. But this phone is also having the same problem. I am getting very frustrated with this because I need to be able to actually talk to people when they call me. Anyone else having the same problem? I want to go back to the store but I feel like they wouldn't do anything more than they did last time, which didn't solve the problem.

    I have this same issue on a bi-daily basis: I can place a call, but then I hear nothing.  I can answer a call, but I then hear nothing.  The calls connect as the people I am in contact with will tell me they answered my calls and heard me, though I could not hear them - and vice versa.  Also, this phone does not like to place a call using the "call" option if dialing from "recent calls".  I turn this phone on/ off daily, I've taken the battery out on about 50% of the occassions when this issue has happened.  This has been a problem for me for approximately 1yr.  My early renew date is just shy of 2 months from now and I cannot wait to get rid of this phone.  Aside from having great difficulty making/ receiving calls, the phone is overall slow to respond to basic functions like text messaging or using the camera.  Also, most times while taking a picture, the camera will "take a picture" but then there is no image in the file.  Highly annoying - the only way to temporarily fix this is to reboot - but like the call issue, the problem recurs.  I do have a bunch of apps on installed on the phone, but since I also have an APP killer on the phone, nothing aside from "Weather Bug" app is ever really running in the background that would slow this phone.  BUT, right now my main concern is may safety: God forbid I am ever in danger or in an emergency situation, this phone's constant malfunctioning could possibly be the physical harm or death of me.  I hope that my family can sue the company that provides the software for this phone, Verizon & Motorola in the event of my untimely death.

  • Problem with sign in Skype.

    Hey, just have a problem with signing into my Skype account.
    When I try to sign in, its works for 10 seconds and after that signed out automatically (with message: You have been signed out). I tried to reinstall it and restart laptop, but nothing changed. Also changed password via skype official site...nothing(
    What else can I do, to make it works?
    Mac OS version 10.9.4 and skype version Version 6.19 (450).

    This is the Resolution for this issue:
    1. End all the Skype process from Task manager
    2. Delete the Skype folder from %appdata% and %temp%
    3. Go to Program Data> Run> type C:\programData
    4. Delete the Skype folder from Program Data.         
    5. Re-launch skype and try again.

    If JavaScript is not working in your Internet Explorer, then there is no way to get Skype to open the login screen. Scripting in Internet Explorer might have been disabled by your Antivirus/security application. What Antivirus/security applications are installed on your computer? Meanwhile you can try to make use of the “legacylogin” workaround, which should enable login to Skype using the old legacy login window. However, you will not be able to login using Microsoft account (email address). Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes. Open this folder on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\ You should see there the Skype application file (Skype.exe).  Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"  /legacylogin Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Try now login to Skype?

    My wife ordered a 4S 32GB black model and was putting me on her plan of currently 2 phones.  We ordered via the site about a week ago and got the message the phone would ship 11/30, added a data plan etc on a 3rd separate line.  Received an order confirmation, but couldnt use the 6-7 digit order number to check on it kept saying no order.  Today she checked and said she received soemthing from Verizon saying there was a problem with the order and to either call or email them.  She's at work til 4p EST time but was curious if anyone else got this and what it could cause this message?
    On a separate note I have my own plan with a iPhone 4 that I was going to cancel and move to her plan porting my number but the order wouldnt permit a port of a verizion number.  I called and the rep swore there would be no cancellation fee (sounds fishy to me) but he had someone else look and they said there was no cancellation fee either.  I dont know if the order flow recorded that and they are question it or something else is going on.
    Any ideas on why Verizon would have a problem with the order would be great!  Thanks!

    As far as the porting of your line to your wife's account...you might want to go in to a local store to handle that. I don't think it would be a port in the traditional sense...but a swap of responsibility...meaning your wife would take ownership of your line. I will have to do that soon for one of the lines under me so that the person using it can have it in their name. In that instance, there would not be any cancelation fees because the line isn't being canceled. The account ownership is just being taken over by someone else and they would take over the remainder of the contract.
    As far as the issue with the order...if your wife makes you an authorized manager on the account you would be able to call in and discuss whatever is happening. The issue could be a number of things so it's hard to tell you what it could be. It's also possible that there isn't an issue at all and the problem is just that the system isn't recognizing the order number.

    The error could be something trivial, it will depend really on what problems you are having, and I note you have made a few other posts.

    ** Note when using safe mode normally do not make changes in the first dialogue Window you see just click on the continue button (Unless you really do want to reset something)
    ** Also note whilst Safe Mode does disable plugins, it will not always stop all external software interacting with firefox .
    A basic principle of troubleshooting is to reduce as many unknown interactions as possible, so in the case of Firefox disabling or removing as many extras as possible.
    If you are determined to check what is in the firefox caches then use ''about.cache'' simply type it into the location bar and hit return, it is relatively user friendly and shows masses of info about what is cached, there is also an [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/cacheviewer/ add-on cacheviewer] Even without the add-on you may be able to figure out what the item is, and whether or not it is updating.
    I do not even use Vista, but presumably an event log entry may not necessarily relate directly to Firefox use.

    I would hazard a guess that the above message may relate to disk indexing; if so it will possibly have nil impact upon Firefox operation.
    I do recall problems being mentioned on this forum about Site Advisor and Firefox, and note some versions are on the [https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/ blocklist] for Firefox 4. If you have problems with SiteAdvisor it would be worth ensuring you have the very latest compatible release of Site Advisor.

  • Iphone 5 problem with in & out going call with iOS 8.1

    I have a iphone 5 and i had updated it to ios8.1 recently.
    After doing so, i started having problem in both in and out going calls. It work only for a brief period after i restart the phone but after a while it gives me the same trouble.

    I have a problem that I think I've seen posted by others, but I can't find it anywhere on the forum. Here's what it looks like:
    I have a application that sends a query parameter called custID in a URL to a JSP page.

    The JSP subsequently calls into the method below to run a decryption stored procedure on an Oracle db. The custId parameter works fine from most clients. However, I have seen the decryption stored procedure return invalid information on some clients in the following case:

    Here is how I define my call to the DCUSTID (decryption stored procedure):

    The back tick doesn't matter.
    How do you know that the routine that you posted returns invalid information? Are you printing the value retreived before you return in the code that you posted? That is the only way to tell if that code is the problem vs some translation problem in something else.
    And what do you mean by 'invalid'? It does return a numeric value right? Is it negative? Or so large that it couldn't be a key? Or what?
    The input parameter to the stored proc is a varchar and not a char correct?

    I have some problems with Gizmo as well. Not exactly the same problem as yours. In my case, initiating a call takes too long (~1 minute). I would recommend trying Truphone. It is another SIP-based app; and in my opinion, much better than Gizmo.

  • Continuing Problems with VOD

    For nearly a month now I have had problems with VOD.  Any time I try to use VOD, whether its HBO, Showtime or one of the other channels, the video starts and immediately pixilates and the audio breaks up.  I have had two different FIOS techs to my house and the last tech after spending hours checking everything finally convinced the people at the "central office" that the problem was at their end.  They promised to fix, reset  or replace one of the cards at the CO to fix the problem overnight.  When I checked the next day, the problem had gotten worse -more pixilation, broken up audio.  On 6 consecutive days I have called tech support and each day they tell me they are in the process of resetting or replacing the card and give me a time by which they expect the problem to be fixed.  Needless to say, when I check the next day, the issue had not been resolved.  I did learn from the tech that the problem card is something called a GigE card.  At this point there must be hundreds if not thousands of other FIOS users experiencing the same problem.  It is now going on a month since VZ has been unable to provide me a service they promote so heavily.  And since I only watch TV in a time shifted manner, the triple play that costs me over $180/month has become virtually worthless to me.
    VZ needs to address this problem.  If not, I guess I will have to do the unthinkable and switch back to Cablevision.
