Continued "automatic" overprint fill selection

I have had a number of files recently that have object in them that have automatically checked the Overprint Fill Attribute. Is anyone else seeing this? They have been vector objects either created in Illustrator or directly i InDesign.
I have actually never purposefully set an objet to overprint fill. In a multi-page pub it can be hard to even notice these items with Overprint Preview turned on.
How is this getting turned on? Is there some key combo shortcut that could be responsible? I've had enough of seeing these little things pop in pieces that are rushed with no real proof reviewed.
Is there a way for a PDF to be exported that displays just as the print output will be?

You are correct. While black text that is still live text will not specifically be checked in the Attributes panel to overprint, the ID voodoo is that if you convert it to paths, Overprint in the Attributes pane will automatically be checked. It will do it every time. Open the Attributes pane and watch it happen. The second you convert to paths, it'll check overprint. It would be nice if a warning were tossed right then.
Black text that is live will not overprint objects layered over it as far as I can tell, but exported as a PDF and examined via Advanced > Print Production > Overprint View in Acrobat, Simulate Overprint checked , Color Warnings selected, Show Overprinting checked, will show black text as overprinting.
All of these things can make prepress & troubleshooting somewhat tricky, especially in a rush situation.
My two overprint issues this year manifested out of:
- an object pasted directly from Illustrator into InDesign as a vector. I did not specifically tag it to overprint. How this happened, I cannot determine or replicate. I can say, I have never specifically selected any object to overprint on a cmyk piece.
- Created a symbol via font dingbat, converted it to paths, changed its color. The client chose not to proof and the object overprinted altering part of the layout negatively. This is the process mentioned above, all taking place in ID: black text > convert to path > ID tags to overprint all by itself > it remains tagged regardless of color changes.
So, if black text isn't set to hard overprint, why the hooey does ID check it as such when converted to paths. That is just plain evil.

InDesign: Automatic Overprint Fill

Adobe made a minor but tragic mistake in programming InDesign that has continued with every version, and has plagued me several times in my professional career. I discovered after a print job was completed that type was unknowingly converted to "Overprint Fill" without my knowledge, making it transparent and ruining the project. After a few years of this recurring, and being shrouded in mystery, I found out tonight that InDesign automatically converts black type to Overprint Fill when type is converted to outlines in InDesign. This is not a problem if the type remains black. But if the type is filled with any other color, it becomes transparent because it's an "overprint." Overprint Fill is an old-fashioned device. Besides special effects RARELY used, Overprint Fill is practically obsolete. Overprint Fill is the opposite of trapping.
WHY WHY WHY is this an invisible automated feature in InDesign? The only way to preview overprint is to select Overprint Preview in the View menu, which no one ever does, nor should they as a rule. Acrobat FAILS to show the problem, so the files in most cases, go to press with the overprint fill option on, making the type practically imperceptable.
Please fix this Adobe. I just had to replace 6 pages of a magazine after prepress because of this problem. It costs time and money, and is so unnecessary. Poll your users. Does anyone even know what Overprint is? Likely not.

Development IDE-Microsoft VC++ 6.0 on windows.
Please help me how to identify a Process swatch which has the following percentages of color:C-0,M-0,Y-0,K-100(Global option is ticked).Color mode
CMYK .This swatch may contain any name.I also need to check whether the entity that contains this swatch is overprint filled or not.
How should i automate this ?Any source code samples please?

Turn off overprint fill

I sometimes receive a file from a client that has accidentally had overprint fill turned on for an object, it happens on type a lot. It happens on PDFs made in indesign and illustrator. I was wondering is there a way inside acrobat reader pro to turn overprint fill off?
I know how to check and highlight overprint fill elements inside output preview>color warnings, but it would be nice if I could turn it off myself without having to go back to the client and have them turn it off and resend me the file.

Many thanks for your earlier inputs, but not quite sure where you got the idea that i want someone or anyone to play detective... i've understood the Overprint problem... and moved on. If anything, maybe i was just musing and wondering if any particular action turns on "Overprint Fill"...

Same black background(s)... placed Photoshop file/s with a transparent background... Prints fine at the printers (various machines and media) ... But on the laserprinter an HP Color Laser Jet CP1510 series, there's a dark patch around the image (the actual file area).

To elaborate, the pix above are product shots which have been cut out and placed on a transparent background... The PS file is then placed in AI CS4 with the object option selected to maintain transparency. The transparent area is printing darker on the printer above. But is fine when sent to commerciqal printers...

Exporting a Layered PSD and Overprint Fill

Hi guys.
I'm trying to export a layered PSD of my AI file and I keep having problems with it merging the layers because of the overprint settings.
I've been trying to go through and turn off the overprint in my objects, but I have a photo that's cropped by a rectangle shape, and the Overprint Fill option under Attributes is greyed out. What must I do?

Well, when I release the clipping mask, both the image and the selection mask do not have the overprint checked or greyed. But when I apply the mask, it turns grey again (with a "-").

Tonight I had to go to iTunes to verify my payment info - even though I'd already done that two days ago - and before I can even access the iTunes Store, iTunes starts downloading 44 TV shows that I've purchased over the last few months on my AppleTV; before I could completely stop it, it had entirely filled up my hard drive - 180 GB. There's NO reason there isn't a way to stop auto-downloads of TV shows - every other type of media has the ability to stop auto-downloads, and given that I have an AppleTV (for now!), why in pasta's name would I want to load them onto my laptop?!

In the Paths panel, click the flyout menu (in the top right of the panel) and choose Make Selection (this option will only be available if you have a path selected). Reduce the Feather Radius to 0 (zero) and click OK. This setting will be the default even when clicking the Load Path as Selection button.

You can select the Payment Term at PO Header Level.
When you book an invoice, that Payment Term will automatically defaulted to Invoice.
You can define Payment Term in AP.
Payment terms have one or more payment terms lines, each of which creates one scheduled payment. Each payment terms line and each corresponding scheduled payment has a due date or a discount date based on either a specific day of a month, such as the 15th of the month, or a number of days added to your terms date, such as 14 days after the terms date.

I have to do the enhancement for automate consgment fill up while doing the Goods Issue. I wanted to knw the exits or BADI for the same. Where can i see the sale document type KB and which screen it is?I am new to the sales flow. can anybody help regaridng this.

1. Consignment fill up:
Sales document type is KB
Item category KBN
schedule line category 1
In this step, you are not invoicing the customer. document flow is sales order -
delivery item category. It will not be relevant for billing and pricing because you are not charging money for these goods in this step.
In schedule line category, you will set movement type 631 & set for availability check and TOR.
2. Consignment Issue.
Once the customer informed you that he used all the goods or partial goods then you will create consignment issue for used goods.
Sales document: KE
Item category: KEN
schedule line category: C0 or C1
Here you are invoicing the customer(because he used the goods). you are assigning the delivery document and billing document to the sales document.
In item category, you are setting relevant for billing, pricing, special stock.
In schedule line category, your setting is 633 movement type, relevant for availability check & TOR.
3. Consignment Return:
Customer found that some goods are damaged or he not able to sold the goods he want to send it back. that you are creating this document.
Sales document type: KR
Item category: KRN
You will assign delivery document and billing to sales document. you will create return order, return delivery, return billing.
Your setting item category relevant for billing, returns, pricing, special stock.
Your setting schedule line item category: 634 movement type, NO availability NO TOR.
4. Consignment Pick up:
Even if you create the consignment return the goods are not come to direct to your plant. For that you need to create consignment pick up. here the owner ship is not changing so you do not need to create billing.
Assign return delivery to sales document type.
Sales document: KA
Item category: KAN

Because there are too many data, it's not reasonable for me to design a page which connects to server each time to fill the selection boxes.Instead i want to check if data resides at the clientside, if so fill selection boxes with that data, if not download it for the first time and store it on the client for later local retrieval.In addition i must be able to update that data residing on the client when i want.

I can tell you some hints. Use cookies to store the information on to the client-side. You can read data from cookies using JavaScript. If you want to store huge amount of data on to the client-side, perhaps this would not be a better idea. In J2EE architecture we often use sessions to store values. You need to design your implementation in such a way that for the first time you fetch all the values from the database and put it in a session, and the next time onwards you can get the values from the session itself and thereby you can avoid going to database each and everytime. Write a Java class which has all the necessary get and set methods and store the object in the session. Using that object reference you can set and get the values from it. I hope this will help you.

Don't see where Java comes into this. Sounds like you'd be using JavaScript on the client.
A cookie would probably be the only way to save data on the client.

When I use Find Font command from Type menu, the overprint fill changed!

Can any one tell why the overprint fill attribute checked when I use Find Font from Type menu to simple change the font.
Try this Illustrator file from this URL:

and change the font of letter B in the illustration using Find Font command to and font and notice how the overprint fill changed from uncheched to checked.

The problem happens here, even if I first change the color to CMYK 0000 prior to using find font.
Anything we need to know about the history of this file, was it originally a pdf, or those text objects.
Manually changing the font does not turn overprint on, Find Font is toggling the overprint value in the code for this probably due to somehting abnormal in the code, or maybe be associated to this font's name triggers this glitch.
