That would probably be handled by the printer drivers
themselves. If they
can't do it, there's not much you can do to make them.

  • Portrait on 14" width by 11" length continuous feed paper for Dot Matrix printer.

    Hello,
I am trying to set the properties of a Report Builder 3.0 form for Portrait orientation with 14" width by 11" length continuous form.  The report will print on a high speed dot matrix printer.  My problem is when I change the report property
to 14" width by 11" length, Report Builder 3.0 automatically changes the Orientation to Landscape!  I want it Portrait on 14"x11" paper!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi CRC111,
According to your description, when printing reports in dot matrix printer, it can't keep the Portrait in report property. Right?
In Reporting Services, it supports printing in a dot matrix printer. However, the dot matrix print is quite different from regular printers. It has reported it can't accept the page layout(landscape and Portrait). In this scenario, we suggest you export
the report into PDF/TIFF, then print it in dot matrix printer. Please refer to the links below:

  • Problem with custom paper size on dot matrix printer

    Hi All,
I'm using CR2008 with updated to SP2. I have a problem with custom paper size (W=21; H=14), the CR Viewer show report with custom paper size correctly but when I print it to a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ 300+) the content was rotated to landscape. If print to a laser printer the content was printed correctly. My report was printed correctly by CR10 or previous versions I got this issue when upgraded to CR2008. I aslo tested my computer and printer with orther application like MS Word the printing have no problem with custom paper size.
Thanks for any advice for me.
    Han

Looking at the Epson LQ 300+ driver, I see that the latest update is from 2002. In my experience, most matrix printer drivers are not unicode. Crystal Reports is designed to only work with unicode printer drivers. See the [How Printer Driver Options Affect a Report|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29&overridelayout=true] article, page 6 for details. Also, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Finally, see if you can print from the CR designer to this printer and if you get the correct results here.

  • Crystal Report printing on dot-matrix printer

    Hello,
I've developed an application using VB.NET and Crystal Reports in VS2008. The report generated gets printed correctly on modern laser or inkjet printers. However, the entire formatting gets affected when I print these reports on dot matrix printer. Apart from that. the print speed is very slow. I tried exporting the report to PDF, DOC and other formats - but no solution. There was Export to Text function, which is not working in Crystal Reports now.
After a research on this issue, I found out few links to some solutions - which actually doesn't work. These links are as follows:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/e24a8084-ad53-48bc-a7d5-065ef82636ac

I've seen some software, in which, when Print on Dot Matrix (custom menu option) is selected, data is sent to DOS mode and reports are printed from DOS mode.
Is there any solution for this? OR DOS mode is the only solution?
This is high priority issue. Even though we're moving ahead in IT industry, govt. still depend on 4 color dot matrix printer reports.
    Waiting for solution

  • Sales invoice Smartform printing in dot matrix printer in sucession

    Dear all,
I am trying to Print Sales invoice on Dot matrix Printer.
My First Invoice is printed ok, but if i try to print second invoice without manually adjusting the paper the alignment on printer goes haywiered.
Do we have some option in smartform where we can trigger new page command.
    Regards,
    Gaurav Sood

    Hi Amiya,
you need to check the paperformat which is used. I'm pretty sure that there is a wrong paperformat selected. The supported paperformats are published in the official documentation of the printer-model.

  • Labels printed in Dot Matrix Printer

    Hi Experts,
I am new to the label creation.
I need to create a new label which will be printed using a Epson Dot matrix printer.
I got an idea how to do it in zebra printing. But still I am wondering how it can be done for a dot matrix.
Whether it is same like zebra programming or dot matrix do have some other coding language to display the label?
Could you please explain me on this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Arun.

    hi,
there is a huge difference between a standard dot matrix printer and a zebra printer.
a zebra printer mworks with ZPL II commands. All other printer works otherwise.
However. If you use smartforms the code in the smartform is converted to ZPL|| automatically. ( I think you can see it in the spool but i am not sure)
If you use sapscript you have to code the ZPLII yourself.
On an other printer you can work with normal commands. You have only to take care that the printer has a porper driver. Ad fthe form has the proper pagelayout.
    This will do.

You also have to see the Dflt.prt file, that this located in the C:\ ORAWIN95\ REPORT60\ PRINTERS, the who you control the margins of
impression in manner [caracter]. They for [default] are 80 Columns and 66 Lines, the
who you could publish and change the courages

  • How to stop auto from-feed on a dot matrix printer for printing only a single line of data at a frequency of 30 seconds

    Hello friends
In a particular application, it is required to print a single line of data on a dot matrix printer (continuous sheets) at a frequency of 30 seconds. That is printing is to be carried out line-by-line on the same form without a form feed.
We are facing a problem of a form feed after printing of each line. Kindly help me to solve this problem of auto form-feed. How to continuously print at a regular interval without from-feeding.

Is this printer connected to a network?
You may need to look at the printer manual to see if there is a setting for a form feed.  I remember when we had a dot matrix printer on the network about 12 years ago, there would be a network timeout setting of something like 30 seconds.  So if you didn't continue to send data, the network will end the print job and send the file to the printer which would auto form feed at the end.  Many of our basic programs had to be rewritten because they would do an LPRINT periodically, if you took along time progressing through the inputs, you would easily hit the 30 second timeout.  So all the programs had to be rewritten to save the data to be printed to a file, and only once you execute a print command, it would read the file back in and Lprint it (or a Print#1) to the LPT port.
Since the printer was on the network, and basic could only print to LPT's, we had to use a net command to capture the LPT1 port and direct it to the network queue.
I don't remember all the details, but those are the bits and pieces I do remember.  I think the answer to your problem lies in there somewhere.
    Namely:
    1.  Printer setting to auto form feed.
    2.  Network setting that closes print job after timeout period.
