Continues rebooting iPhone 5

So, I'm having this problem with my iPhone5. It keeps rebooting every single time. Can't use my phone the way I should be able to use it. Had this problem for 3 months now, sent it in for repair twice; problem still occurs. They told me IOS 7.1 would fix the restarts, but after updating it gets even worse. I checked the diagnosticsreport, and the error is as follows, every single time the same one:
{"os_version":"iPhone OS 7.1 (11D167)","name":"Reset count","bug_type":"115"}
Incident Identifier: 5316ADA1-9D63-459D-82A1-DBBB84AC522C
CrashReporter Key: 64dd7fe19b6a533333f713b42e1de7808309351d
Date: 2014-03-11 10:23:45 +0100
Reset count: 0
Boot failure count: 1
Boot faults:
Boot stage: 48
Boot app: 0
Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice?
Sincerely,
Tom

Same here on iPhone 5. Since iOS 8.1 (currently iOS 8.2). "panic.ips" in diagnostics, "WDT timeout".
Is it a hardware bug (new battery, new display, ...) or is it a software bug?
I have currently the following suspects:
- Battery (replacement part from Apple in use)
- Display (replacement part from Apple in use)
- Flash storage (free disk space very low (< 1 GB left))
- iOS
The ResetCounter-Log created after reboot of the iDevice has "bug_type" = 115).
What do you think?

  • My iPhone 5s continuously reboots

My iphone 5s continuously reboots and I cannot find my serial number.  This started when I was downloading an app from itunes.  It seems I cannot contact apple without the serial number, I have my IMEI number but not the serial number.   I have tried the 10 digit numbers on the micro card but they do not seem to work as the serial and the SIM carrier has no numbers.

You can find your serial number on the packaging/box of your iPhone 5s. It's located at the bottom. Also search in iTunes (on your PC/Mac) for it.
    Hope this helps.

Just upgraded iphone 4 to iOS7 this morning. It completed fine and everything seemed okay this morning but for the last 5 hours it has been continually rebooting itself.  It does get to the home screen and I can use it for a few minutes before it reboots itself again.

  • Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
    Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
    Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
    Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
    1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt....  Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
    Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
    2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
    3. Using windows registry:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
    4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
    5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
    6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
    7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
    8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
    9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
    10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
    Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click change or remove programs.
    6. Select the program -service pack 3 that you want to uninstall or remove.
    7. Click Remove button.
    8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
    9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

Used method 1 and it cleared the problem instantly, many thanks for the post and the time and effort it took to dig up the answer..

  • Problems with Mini--continued reboot after update

I recently was given a Mini to play with. I was having some issues with it when I first received it. I read some forum posts and some other non-apple related help files on the internet. I finally got the Mini to work correctly, at least I was able to get to the menu screen and get the Mini recognized by my computer. When iTunes recognized my new ipod I was told to update the software, I did. The update that was "needed" was 1.4.1. I went ahead and downloaded this update. I was then told to plug the Mini into the wall outlet to make the update complete. I did this as well. I left the Mini plugged into the wall, using the Apple AC adapter and the provided USB connector. The Mini flashed the apple icon then the "plug into the wall" icon. I left the Mini plugged in overnight, I had no idea how long it would take to finish the update. The next day I tried to plug the Mini into my computer and I got a message telling me that my ipod might be corrupt and I should reset the ipod back to original settings. I tried that.
Now, as I type this, I have the same Mini plugged into my computer and it does not register as a USB device on my computer and itunes does not even recognize that it is connected. The Mini seems to be caught in some kind of rebooting loop. The screen continually reboots, going from the apple icon to the "plug in" icon. I don't know what else to try, besides throwing the ipod away.
I would really like some help with this problem. I have tried the 5Rs and I have gotten nowhere. I will gladly take any suggestion that can be made.
I am running a Dell Inspiron with Windows Vista Basic, if that helps. Thank you for any help.

I have followed your intruction and it does not correct the problem. Diskmode does not appear. The ipod is completely locked out. The apple symbol appears, followed by the plug-in picture and that is all.
This is a result of an update to version 1.4.1 via iTunes. Surely Apple have to provide a fix for this error as it was no fault of anyone elses that these ipods are now rendered useless.
To make matters worse, I have all my uni assessment information on the ipod, which is my sister's, and I can no longer access it. My assessment is in 2 days.
If I have to get the ipod "repaired" due to an apple update then that is plain ridiculous. To cost me money for repair due to an update provided by apple? That's insane. Apple should take responsibility for the problems this update has caused and provide a fix.

While sliding my Mac G4 tower out from under the desk it came unplugged. It was running at the time. After plugging it back in all I get is a continuous reboot loop. I have tried the Shift and the Command Option P R boots to no avail. What am I missing here? I have had no problems in the past with this system. I am running Panther.

I have tried the Shift and the Command Option P R boots to no avail.
Are you using an Apple keyboard or something else. It is rather common for non-Apple boards, especially those pulled from a PC, to not respond to the traditional Apple startup key command combos.
Take the computer off wall power again then press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds. Then restore power and try a normal start. That worked for me when I had a similar failure to start with my G4 MDD.
If you have never replaced the internal backup battery ("PRAM" battery) it is, by, now surely extremely dead and it could not preserve the needed start parameters when power was unexpectedly cut. If you get the computer going, consider installing a new PRAM battery so you won't replay today's issues. tomorrow. The batteries are cheap and replacing one is a three-minute at-home job:

  • ASA 5550 - Continuous rebooting loop

we have a Cisco ASA5550 and stuck into continuous rebooting loop. it show an error :assertion "_vf_mode_init" failed: file "vf_api.c", line 99
Earlier it has an 4GE SSM module, for some reason we want to utilize 4GE SSM module and we unpluged and after that we face this issue. could some advise in the right direction.
    error message file is attached.
    Much Appricated.

Seems like the ASA is crashing, it is better to open a case with TAC to decode the crash file, most likely you will need an upgrade, if it is failing to boot, you will need to pull the file from rommon mode.

  • Kinect extremely laggy and continually reboots until I run Kinect Studio 2.0 in the background.

I'm relatively new to developing with the Kinect v2 sensor. I'm having a problem where the sensor is extremely laggy (1 frame per 5-10 seconds) and will continually reboot every 10-15 seconds. It's doing this in the ControlsBasics-XAML project that came
with the SDK as well as any other Kinect app.
I found a strange workaround that makes it run extremely smooth. If I just open up the Kinect Studio v2 application (comes with the SDK) and leave it running in the background, then it makes any other Kinect app run smoothly.
I have the latest nVidia drivers, running Windows 8.1 and DirectX 11. Any ideas what the problem could be?
    Thanks,
    Mario Suau

Your system is running in low power state and you need to ensure that the CPU has fully power to run the Kinect. Check the troubleshooting guide sticky(last post) on the main forum page:

  • Router continually reboots

    hello,
I am pretty sure this qusetion has been asked a thousand times before but why does my router continually reboot?
If I just browse the internet and not use any applications that require a lot of connections all is fine. However, soon after starting a bittorrent client or uploading a large email the router decides it is going to reboot itself.
It isnt only internet traffic that causes this either, if i stream to my PS3 the same problem occurs, however the problem does not exist when sending files between 2 PC's.
I know this should all work fine as I was on Virgin Media before BT and never had any problems using the same configuration.
I have got a HH 1.5 with software 6.2.6.H and it is the second homehub i have had with exactly the same symptoms so i dont fancy calling the helpline only to be fobbed off and have it replaced with another one.
As an alternative can somebody please reccoment a good compatable router that i can buy so that i can chuck the BT kit where it belongs in the bin.
To give an idea how annoying this is I asked my wife to keep an eye on it and count how often she notices the router reeboot while she is using it and it has been 18 times in 2 days.

Generic setup instructions below for Netgear, similar for any other ADSL router.  Details also in HH manual.

    hey tristartom,
continuous reboot occured after installing ubuntu yes ? could you remove ubuntu and have your unit on a mono-boot with windows and see if the same error occurs.
if it doesn't happen, then i suggest heading to Ubuntu forums or the Linux thread in this forum and check with other linux users if they have experience this same issue as you.

  • Mountain lion was shutting down properly at first. Now it continually reboots. how do I fix that?

Mountain Lion 10.8 was shutting down properly at first. Now it just continually reboots.

Sounds like an issue for Lion Community for one, and worth try booting from Windows DVD and run auto repairs.
Did you ever erase your hard drive or update, when you installed Lion? There wre problems with upgrade to Lion 10.7.0 and Windows partitions on systems running 10.6.8.
There are also problems associated with changes in 10.7.4 which is why waiting a week for reports to surface.
When you update OS X just like Windows it needs to reboot into OS X to complete the update. I'm not sure what and why, or whether you are talking about trying to use Lion Recovery mode.
To me it sounds like a partition table, maybe 10.7.4 tried to update or modify something more than just the OS.
And of course make system restore images for both and any OS when it is working and before install updates. OS  X lets you make bootable clone and sparse disk image as well as TimeMachine. Windows will create a restore image of the system also.
    Boot Windows DVD can't hurt.

  • 5G iPod continually rebooting

I got a 60GB 5G iPod this past weekend and today after copying a few movie files and updating podcasts it now continually reboots when ejected from my PowerBook. I tried reinstalling the 1.1 update, but after loading my library it reboots over and over again. I tried removing all video and podcasts and still the same problem.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm sorry don´t have and answer, but a similar problem. I just got a brand new 30G IPod Video. Since I only use an ibook, I decided to restore it to Mac format and loaded my music libray + 5 music videos, the ipod is at 30% capacity. Now, here is the problem whenever I connect it directly to the usb port of my mac it will charge and sync, no problem so far, but whenever I try to just charge it or connect to my ibook via a universal dock or to the universal dock and USB power adapter or just the USB cable connected to the power adatpter, it seems everything is fine until I take the iPod out of the dock or disconnect the cable... it just reboots, it won't lose content but the Date and time are reseted to 00:00 AM, Jan 1 2000.
I have tried several times in different scenarios with the same result. I have the latest ipod fimrware 1.1 loaded.
The other wierd thing is that no matter how long I left the ipod charging it seems never to reach a full charge
I've tried reseting the Ipod as well as restoring the it, also I rebooted my mac, etc.
The dock and the power adapter seems to work fine since I have also and Ipodnano and a mini and they work just fine.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks

  • 7936 continually rebooting

i have a 7936 conference phone which continually reboots. We are using Call Manager 4.1(3). i have tried several different 7936 all of which do the same. Does anybody have any ideas as to where the problem is? We use the phones over 3 floors. Floor 1 and 2 - the 7936 are ok - floor 2 causes a constant reboot.
    Regards
    Dominic Ellis

I've seen a similar problem when our Publisher was experiencing a bug with AuPair.exe causing constant 100% CPU usage.
Only 7935's and 7936's that were not local to a Subscriber or Publisher would have the reboot issue.
My guess was registration issues, or TFTP problems. Due to the high resource usage, the Publisher was causing timeouts for phones across the WAN and so they would reboot.
All our 7960 and 7970 phones were fine. The 7935/36 load files are almost 2MB and over double the size of the 7960's.
A phone that was working in an office local to the cluster would reboot repeatedly when sent to an effected office, and vice versa the "faulty" phone would work sent here.
ES upgrade resolved the resource issue and subsequently the reboot problem.
This is on 4.0(2a) and upgraded from es54 to es64. Phones are using 3.3(9)
Sounds like you have a different cause cos you do get a dial tone, but double check your Publisher is healthy and confirm what sites do and don't have the issue. Or plug a 7936 into the same switch and vlan as your publisher and go from there.
    cheers
