Continuing audio issues using Kona card

MAC PRO 2 x 2.93 GHz 6 Core
12 GB 1333 MJZ DDR3 Ram
Kona 3 card
Kona driver 10.3.1
Adobe utilities for Kona 10.3.0
Quadro 4000 graphics card
Video drive Apple XServe raid
plus 2 TB G-raid & 3, 2 TB internal 7200 RPM drives
OS 10.7.4
CS6.0.1.31
So I've been dealing with this issue since I downloded and started using the Kona 3 drivers with PPCS6.0.1
Often when I start my computer after shutting down the night before and restart premier in the same project I left that was working fine.  I get broken audio in playback.  When I check my computer system audio in and out preferences they have mysteriously switched back to Kona, which is what is causing the problem.
I attempt to switch them back to line in and line out, close preferneces and then reopen and that switch has not taken and they're back to Kona.
I repair permissions and restart and make the change again...sometimes when I do this I get a Kernal panic, so need to shut down and start again.  Someties this will fix the issue for today, sometimes not.  Today after the kernal panic, everything seems to be working properly.
This is a little anoying and is a 15 to 20 minute excercise each morning.  Sure I could leave my machine on all night, but I'd sure appreciate anyone's ideas on how to solve this continuing issue.
I turned in a bug report today, since I believe it is indeed a bug somewhere.
Thx...Jim Watt

I found a post in the apple forum that solved this issue...
If you are having problems with your "default output" sound in Snow Leopard, try the following...
Go to your hard drive (root level), and open the Library folder. Then open the Preferences folder, and open the Audio folder.
Delete the two preference files contained in the Audio folder:
- com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
- com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Reboot your mac, and hopefully your problems will be solved.
This solution worked for me, and hopefully it will for you too.

  • Premiere Pro 6 and Audition Audio issues with Kona Lhi

    Hello,
When I have Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition open at the same time, and I send an audio clip from Premiere Pro to Audition for editing, I have no sound in Audition. If I have only one of these programs open, the audio works fine in both. Since these programs are linked together it is essential that I have audio in both, even though, both programs are open. Is there a driver fix or some other way to get Premiere Pro to release the Kona Card LHi when switching to Audition? I am using a Mac Pro 2 x 2.4 6-core 24MB Ram 1333 DDR3 and Quadro 4000 with Kona Lhi Drivers 10.4.4 with Adobe presets.
    Thanks,

    Hello Dunamis,
Unfortunately this is a known issue with the Kona card. I know this is something they would like to fix but I'm uncertain on the timeframe.
There are times when this workflow will work without issue but when it goes into the bad state you will need to quit the apps.

  • Accounting Document Issue Using Credit Cards

    Hello Experts,
I have a strange behaviour with regard to accounting documents being generated for invoice via VF01. Issue is that we are implementing credit card processing, I have done all the config related to that, but when i generate an invoice, i do not get the customer A/R account but instead only see the clearing account. I know that the posting key for the invoice is 01 but if i am billing using credit card, seems like system is not picking up this posting key which is tied to bringing in the customer A/R account.
Am i doing something incorrect? According to standard SAP i should be seeing this in the accounting but i am not.
    Can someone please help?
PS: If i do normal billing i.e w/o payment cards, i do get to see the Customer A/R in accounting. Also, i have throughly checked pricing and VKOA account determination and credit card account determination.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi Sadhu,
Thanks for your reply, however, my issue is when i am creating an invoice, i dont get to see the customer account at all, this is even before we run the cc settlement process.
If i create an invoice w/o payment card, no problems, i see a D/R against the customer and CR to the revenue account as per VKOA config.
Any ideas why this could happen, the credit card config is exsctly as std SAP.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

  • HDMI Audio Issue/Radeon Grapics Card [Solved]

    Hello All,
New user to Arch, been using linux for a little while longer. I'm trying to set my HDMI out as default output, but cannot seem to make it work. I've tried the wiki, forums, and websearches, but none of the methods (and variations thereof) seem to work for me. The hw must work, for I am listening to music as I type via HDMI, but I must go into VLC>Audio Output>HDMI. So if someone could help me out, walk me through it, I would appreciate it very much. I'll post some info below, sorry in advance if it's not everything needed. If you want to assume I am a complete n00b/idiot, I will not be offended. Thanks in advance!

OK, I think I've got a resolution. I used a combination of several wikis to get it right, mainly:
    ALSA-Gentoo Wiki
    ALSA-Arch Wiki
    ATI#HDMI Audio-Arch Wiki
    Kernel Parameters-Arch Wiki
I searched a number of other pages I don't remember right now, but these were the most helpful as I recall. I again added "radeon.audio=1" to /etc/default/grub per the "Kernel Parameters" and "ATI#HDMI Audio" Arch Wikis. I then modeled  my ~/.asoundrc to match the Gentoo Wiki example, with a slight tweak to fit my hardware. That file now looks like this:
    GNU nano 2.2.6 File: ~/.asoundrc
    pcm.!hdmi {
    type hw
    card 0
    device 3
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave {
    pcm "hdmi"
It's been a few days, with rebooting everyday, and so far so good. Audio programs (eg. VLC) and flash content are working just fine. However, speaker-test & aplay -D give no errors and the scripts run, but no audio is actuallly produced. ??? Is this a problem, or can I continue to ignore it?
Anyways I consider this pretty much resolved, and hope this helps anyone else with this issue. Cheers!!!

  • Continued audio issue with iphone

So, I reported on here about a month ago how using headphones with my iPhone was a problem because sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't I was "informed" by some readers that it was a third party headphone issue etc and so forth.
Yet, I've been using the offical headphones since and I'm still having the same issue. SOMETIMES I can't hear audio, sometimes I can. There's no replicatable circumstance that causes it. Restarting it doesn't fix it, and to make matters worse, any time I can't hear through them while making a phone call, I can turn on the iPod and hear everything just fine.
Clearly this is a software issue and it's really leading me to ditching my iPhone. There's no excuse for this.
It's bad enough to have to deal with AT&T's shoddy service (dropped calls, late voicemails, terrible EDGE service) but to have to deal with this on top of it makes me wish for the days of my RAZR.

I have the same problems with my 3GS which is just over 2 years old now.
I have updated to ios5.0.1but there is no improvement. The problems started a couple of months ago (ios4..) but is now getting more frequent.
It seems to crash most often after I open an app that uses location services so I have just turned that off to see over a couple of days if this is the cause.
Often, like yours, the battery is displayed as empty and requires plugging in to restart it and then a few minutes later the battery is displayed as nearly full!
Did you resolve your problems in the end? My next step is to maybe replace the battery or as a last resort buy the new 4GS but I really wanted to wait for the next model before replacing this one.

  • Audio Issues Using iMac 27 as Monitor, after Yosemite

    Folks,
I use the Mac as an external monitor for my PC. I've been playing music from the Mac on external speakers, in both Mac & PC mode for 4 years. Since Yosemite, when I switch to the PC, the speakers change to the internal built-ins. When I select the external speakers the 'Settings for Selected Device'  says 'The Selected Device has no Output Controls'. It's connected via USB to an Audioengine D1 DAC and 5+ speakers.
Any thoughts? I never had any issues before Yosemite, and there seems to be no way to lock the setting to external.
    Thanks...

Unfortunately the rep in the store was not correct. This feature is called Target Display Mode, Apple discusses it in the Target Display Mode 2009 & 2010 iMacs & Target Display Mode Mid 2011 iMacs articles. As you will read in the first article you could do this with Mid 2009 & 2010 iMacs but not with 2011 models because they use Thunderbolt. However if you got a new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air which also have Thunderbolt in 2011 then you could use the 2011 iMac as an external monitor to either of those models. In short you need Thunderbolt on all the connected computers.
The good news is there are still 2010 iMac's available in the Apple Refurbished store. If you have never experienced the refurbished store then you not be afraid, these machines have the same 1 year warranty as a new machine and are also eligible for AppleCare. Almost everyone that gets one cannot tell the difference between a new machine and a refurbished machine, they're that good. You can only buy them from Apple's online store, to check what is available check frequently because inventory can and does change from hour to hour.

  • Audio Issue - Using Logic Pro and iMovie to Create Movies for Youtube

I am trying to use a combination of Quicktime, iMovie and Logic Pro 9 to create videos of me playing/singing songs to post on Youtube.  Before I can ask the question, I think it would be best to briefly explain my process, so here's one example:
One thing I try to do is video myself playing piano and singing at the same time.  What I do is open up Logic Pro and load my piano sound and arm an audio track that my microphone is plugged in to; I also go to "System Preferences" and click on "Sound" and make sure that my audio interface is selected for the input method.  Then, I open up Quicktime and select "New Movie Recording".  Finally, I open up my software for my interface and set it up for "loopback"...there's a picture below.
If you look at the bottom of the interface, you'll see it says "DAW 1: Loop Back 1" and "DAW 2: Loop Back 2".  Ideally, this means that whenever I start recording in Quicktime, all of the sounds that I am making in Logic (the piano playing and the singing) will loop back into the computer and be recorded by Quicktime.  This does actually happen, but my question is this:
I've noticed that the sound quality of software instruments is drastically reduced once they have been recorded by Quicktime (or iMovie) and I play the movie back.  Actual audio files, like me singing or playing a real instrument aren't really affected, but for some reason the software instruments sound very thin once I listen to the audio in the movie.  Why is this happening?  Is there a way to preserve the audio quality to be the same during video playback as it is when I am playing the instruments live in Logic?

Interesting and convoluted way to get something done.. from what you're describing it almost sounds like the software instruments are somehow getting recorded twice but slightly out of phase.
When you record your singing are you monitoring through headphones or speakers?

  • Getting audio using KONA LHE card

    Hi,
currently running final cut 5.1.4 on mac pro. we have installed our KONA LHE card and have video from the mac and our sony HDV HVR MI5 deck displaying via the KONA onto our JVC monitorperfectly.
However when we try to connect the Kona audio to our mixing desk we get the sound through from the final cut timeline, but it is unusable, it isnt distorted but it is swamped by noise and intereference.
We have the HVR deck connected to the mixer with no problems, so it isnt a problem with the mixing desk. (Soundcraft Spirit E Series) So could it be a setting of the KONA? pretty sure phantom power was turned off, so hopefully ahvent fried anything!
Would we get any sound through if we had fried the audio part of the card with phantom power?

tried plugging them into the desks XLR mic connections
That's your problem. MIC connections. Not meant for balanced audio, only for MICS. I had the same problem. My first 4 XLR connections on my mixer are MIC inputs. They are designed to be phantom powered and to be HOT (loud), so any balanced audio from a deck or capture card will be too much for the inputs. YOu gotta use non-mic inputs.

  • Recording VO in Premier using Kona 3 card

I recently have switched to Premier from FCP 7.  I'm trying for the first time to record VO through my Kona card and have not so far had success.  In Adobe help I followed the instructions for recording VO.  I select the Kona 3 card for hardware, activate a track by selecting the microphone Icon; when I have meter only selected I see audio levels in the track, but not in the master.  I deselect meter only, press the record button and the play button and the cursor begins moving.  i speak a test into the mic, then select stop and I have nothing.  No track on the timeline, nothing in my scratch disc and nothing in my files.
the mic input seems to be working in the test when I have meters only selected, but nothing happens when I deselect it.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I sure can't see what it is.  the mic input is digital, plugged into my Kona board, I have AES digital selected in the Kona control panel and I see levels when I test with the meter only setting.
Spoke with AJA and they are also trying to figure out the issue.
    Any ideas?
    thx...Jim Watt

I believe the only I/O devices that will function as a standalone audio device as well are the Motu devices. All of the others require a video signal to pass for audio to pass through.

  • I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?

I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?
The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks

    kmiddlet88,
yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

You can only download content(other than podcast episodes) from a country's iTunes Store if you're in that country. For paid content, you also need to supply a payment method valid in that country.

  • Blackmagic removed desktop audio functionality from Declink cards on Windows.... now what?

So, Blackmagic removed desktop audio functionality from Declink cards on Windows.... now what? After Effects is not programmed to talk to Decklink cards directly on the audio part, there is no ASIO, or mercury playback for the audio part, Blackmagic says it was never intended to be used as an audio card, yet up to last version of version 9 provided an audio driver for it, as a result, now any application not written to talk to the Decklink card directly, can't use the card for audio playback. I'm wondering if they think that the people that uses After Effects don't need audio at all....   rewiring all the rooms in  the post productions facilities that had all the audio of all the system going out via the decklink cards it is not an option.
I'm wondering if Adobe is aware of this and if it have plans to support direct connection to the Decklink cards on the audio side of After Effects. This is a huge problem for all the people that uses AE and Decklink on windows and wants a profesiona quality audio monitoring.  Audition, Premiere, all of those can work now, but not AE. I remember some time ago AE used to support ASIO, but I do not see that option anymore.

Adobe talks with Blackmagic regularly and we were recently made aware of this change. It is, clearly, not something under our control but we can provide feedback to them about your responses to the change.
You are correct, After Effects does not play back audio through Mercury Transmit like Premiere Pro does. This was something we considered for After Effects CC 2014 (CC), but at the time we were developing this release there was no urgent need to do so, and this would require significant work to re-wire how After Effects plays back audio. We will continue to talk with Blackmagic and evaluate what the best plan is going forward.

  • Bootcamp 3.1 and imac windows 7 64bit update not installing. Audio issues!

After many days of work getting the windows 7 working in bootcamp in my imac 27 (still with audio issues) I eagerly awaited the bootcamp update and imac updates.
    Neither will install.
Then I find that according to tech support as of now I have to reinstall Windows 7 again for the updates to work!
It took me 5 full 8 hours days to get all my scientific programs installed and working, now I find I can't even simply update the drivers I need. I don't want to reinstall.
    My only issues are audio.
    Here they are:
    1) The headset jack works fine on the Mac side, but in Windows 7, it causes the i7 intel CPU to go crazy. There is no CPU spike on the mac side.
    2) The headset jack in the imac is a trrs jack. The same as in the iphone, a tri-band jack that has three bands, two audio out channels and one mic in channel. A trrs headset works fine on the mac side with using the headset mic (as in iphone) rather than the built in mic. (this provides much better quality for sound recording). I don't want to use a usb mike.
In Windows 7 the mic part of the trrs headset does not work.
    3) In Windows 7 when going into audio devices recording, no audio mixer shows up, so when I do video or audio screen capture the only way to capture the sound is through the speakers and then back through the imac built in mic, rather than directly through the unit. (terrible sound quality) On the mac side the mixer element works fine.
Now I find from other imac users that even the new updates for the imac on windows 7 don't address and fix the audio issues. I am sure not going to go through 5 more days work only to find the audio issues still don't work.
I need these audio aspects to work properly though!
I have tried to get drivers for the cirrus logic audio card, but guess what there are none available and cirrus logic doesn't even recognize the board or offer drivers.
I have many windows programs I must have for my scientific research!I bought the top of the line Imac with all the bells and whistles because Apple promised that the machine could run Windows 7 in bootcamp natively!
It doesn't. This has been a nightmare of problems.
Is Apple going to step up to the plate and make good on their promises?
Does any one have a fix for any of the audio issues, or know how to install the new drivers without a complete reinstall of Windows?
Installing a few sound drivers and software should not require a complete reinstall. Getting the proper drivers for the headset jack audio in and audio out jack should be the most basic of fixes. Making the audio mixer work should be elementary.
If you are an Apple tech person or an Apple user that can help on these issues, please do!
    Thanks, Dr. Duke

PS I will post this under Imac windows 7 updates without a reinstall and under

On another thread a few people have responded saying that their imac has the same situation, the cpu is going crazy and the imac gets hot with headphones or speakers plugged in. But this doesn't happen in the mac side.
If you have an late 2009 imac and don't have these audio issues, let us hear from you. If you don't, lay out the problem here.
Here is my last two cents in to the inquiry.
Not only does the cpu run crazy but the imac 27 gets very, very hot. Since I unplugged the headphones, it runs much, much cooler.
Certainly, some Mac engineers should take care of this problem, it seems it is universal on all the imac 27's and from what I gather, the smaller screened cousins too.
Also, we certainly want a stereo mix option for audio in or out, or what is called "what you hear" or wave out. Imac is supposed to be much geared to multimedia apps.
Finally, the mic jack part of the trrs set up MUST be fixed! A lot of manufacturers are going to headset combo jacks as they call them, mic in and stereo out on the same tribanded plug. But, the old single jack for mic in and single jack for stereo out are two tiny parts of the hardware and super inexpensive for the manufacturer. Why in the **** to go to the "advanced" triplug if the **** thing doesn't work.
Mac has a great reputation. I hope they remedy these problems right away.
Anyone whose imac 27 or 24 whose headset plug is working correctly. Let us know! I don't think anyone's is, but I think that few people understand that their cpu is running so much faster with the plug in, plus few even understand the combo jack and the triband, or trrs audio jack! Out of 4 audio technicians I talked to, not one of them knew what a trrs jack was or that you even have a mic in jack as part of the headset jack!
When I told one senior that it worked on the Mac side, he didn't believe for a while, thought my sound might be recorded from the onboard mic, but I proved it to him by tapping iaudibly on my iphone mic headset and and it showing up in garage band clearly and listening to big difference in audio.
As for a usb audio adapter, I am in a neon light environment and find that those adapters are more sensitive to electrical interference. Besides I want to use the headset jack as it was meant to be used!
    Thats it.
Again, if anyone using an imac 27 and windows 7 64 or 32 doesnt have these problems, let us know! We are all anxious for a fix!
    Best to all!

  • Logic 9.1.8 & Mainstage 2 - crashing frequently/audio issues

I have just uprgraded to this set up (though using the same sound card as I did on my Mac Book with Logic 8 & Snow Leopard prevously) - in order to avoid overloading which was happening on my previousl set up.. only to find that this new system seems very buggy - crashes frequently on Logic  (Sudden Motion Sensor error - have disabled that now) and Main Stage freezes. Then a wierd echoey sound can happen - whereby any audio is echoed back from DAW, in Logic AND Mainstage.
I have down loaded two plug-ins/VST's since starting to use this new set up - an XILS Lab L.E. verision and a Crystal synth. I've downloaded the up to date Duet drivers from Apogee. (I have an Duet 1.5 that I used with my old set).
Have looked at the Console system log to try and understand what might be happening - it is FULL of text on occasions when Logic crashes  - I am not tech savvy enough to unpick it though.
If anyone has any suggestions to help I would be grateful, thanks.
I do wonder if it is a Core audio issue though - given the echoiing that seems to occur...

  • ALSA is not detecting my M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card (x86-64)

    Hi
I've been searching Arch forums and googling for my problem but I can't find a suitable answer.
I installed my M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card on this PC but ALSA doesn't get it to work.
    Chipset envy24 / ice1712
    On dmesg I find:
    $ dmesg | grep -i ice1712
    [ 8.135832] snd_ice1712: probe of 0000:05:06.0 failed with error -5
However, it is listed on lsmod:
    $ lsmod | grep '^snd' | column -t
    snd_hda_codec_hdmi 24529 4
    snd_ice1712 59590 0
    snd_cs8427 6970 1 snd_ice1712
    snd_i2c 4107 2 snd_ice1712,snd_cs8427
    snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx 2437 1 snd_ice1712
    snd_ak4xxx_adda 8070 2 snd_ice1712,snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx
    snd_hda_codec_realtek 61420 1
    snd_ac97_codec 113344 1 snd_ice1712
    snd_mpu401_uart 5980 1 snd_ice1712
    snd_hda_intel 26181 5
    snd_hda_codec 98034 3 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_intel

    snd_rawmidi 18800 1 snd_mpu401_uart
    snd_seq_device 5269 1 snd_rawmidi
    snd_pcm 75735 5 snd_ice1712,snd_ac97_codec,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel
    snd_page_alloc 7218 2 snd_pcm,snd_hda_intel
    snd_timer 18935 1 snd_pcm
    snd 60189 25 snd_ice1712,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_ac97_codec,snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_i2c,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_hda_codec,snd_ak4xxx_adda,snd_hda_intel,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_seq_device,snd_cs8427
I followed some instruction and created a alsa-base.conf file with:
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    options snd slots=snd_ice1712,snd_hda_intel
    options snd_ice1712 index=0
    options snd_hda_intel index=1
    aplay -l returns:
    $ aplay -l

Seems card 0 is reserved for the m-audio card but is not being detected by ALSA
    envy24control also exits with:
    $ envy24control

    Finally, my /dev/snd

So, what might be causing the probe error -5?
I really need to get this card working! :S
I have Arch up to date!
    Hardware specs:
    CPU: AMD FX6100
Board: Gigabyte (can't recall the model) with NVidia chipset
    Thank you,

I have an m-audio delta 1010lt as well, it's a great card but it sits in my closet now because I "upgraded" to a motherboard that doesn't have legacy PCI slots. However, I'm pretty sure I remember the card working for me and being "plug and play" under arch with kernel 3.3 or newer. So some things I would consider:
Try checking IRQs, make sure nothing is overlapping.
Try using the LTS kernel, to see if it is kernel related, since ice1712 module should ship with almost any kernel => 2.6.26.
How many watts is the power supply? Sometimes insufficient wattage can result in drivers failing to load.
What other sound cards do you have installed? Have you tried blacklisting all of the other cards in your system using alsa-base.conf? This is a bit extreme, but might be a useful troubleshooting measure, as some people have had issues in the past with alsa indexing mutiple cards to the same slot number
