Continuous power and playback from Zen Stone USB port?

Hi. If I buy a Zen Stone can I get continuous playback (for instance 24/7) by plugging a power adapter into the USB port? I do not wish to recharge it all the time as it will be used for a very specific function and in a fixed location.

    Hi.
You simply can't. Snow Leopard is compiled in Intel binary only.
    Good Luck.

My problem - when syncing and error messages  comes up:  iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data."  I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing.  What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?

Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted :  a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone.  I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them.  It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!
Thanks for pointing me to the right article.

  • Reformated in 9.2 and can't use my usb ports

I reformated and reinstalled 9.2 onto my G3 and now NONE of my USB ports work. Not my mouse, not my camera, nothing. Is there a way to reinstall/reconnect them?

    Pete,
I would have expected the mouse to work, well one button at least. But your camera, printer, scanner, etc will all need their drivers re-installed.
Was it OS9.2 previous to your reformatting ? What model G3 is it ? Does it have built-in USB ports, or are they provided by an installed card ?

Click on the little up arrow next to the name of your iPhone to eject the iPhone first.  Then just pull out the USB plug, grasping it by the plastic end of the plug, not the cable.

  • IPad mini Retina keeps disconnecting and reconnecting from Macbook Pro USB 3.0

    Good evening everyone,
I know this title seems similar to existing questions around the internet, but they were either out of date or didn't lead to an answer.
The two devices in question are an iPad Mini Retina and a Macbook Pro late 2013. They are both up-to-date in software terms with iOS 8.3 and OS X 10.10.3.
I kind of ruled out the cable as the culprit because the connection to my iPhone is flawless which makes me think the USB ports aren't part of the problem either (Problem occurs on both Ports). Connecting the iPad to a power socket works fine as well.
As the title states it (re-)connects and disconnects in intervals of approx. 0.5 seconds which is followed by a "dong", the charging symbol on the iPad and a message in iTunes which either states "Device isn't connected" or "Device wasn't found". I tried to check the box in iTunes "Prevent devices from automatically syncing[...]" but nothing changed.
This problem does not occur at all times but I have not been able to get a hold of when it does work.
I also tried a diagnose on my Macbook but no errors have been found and the iTunes Version is up to date as well.
This is about all the input I got and really do hope to get some helping answers.
Looking forwards for and appreciating your answers
    Marius

It does seem to be a cable issue although the iPhone got no problems.. Mysterious.
    Thank you

  • Power (or lack of it) in USB ports

What are the workarounds or what is Apple's position on this issue? I didn't try connecting an iPod yet, but would an iPod get some charge from these USB ports? What I know is that my USB-powered Canon scanner that works perfectly with PC's doesn't work with my Powerbook and that my external portable drive which gets enough power from my 12" iBook's USB doesn't from the Powerbook.

    Hi Hardy
You know if I use my LaCie with one USB data cable connected to the PB and a second "power sharing" USB cable (supplied by LaCie when I bought the drive) also connected to the PB at the same time, then the drive works.
I just dislike having to use up both my USB ports.
In essence, had I known this about the PBs, I would have gotten a Firewire and USB LaCie drive (it was only $30 more). At least I would have been to boot up from the drive if I had ever needed it. Or...are the FireWire ports on the PB affected by the same "low" power-output as the USB ports?
    C'est la vie!

  • Multiple serial ports reading from a shared USB port

I have a program that reads from 4 flow controllers, which send data through RS232 serial ports. Because the computer is located pretty far away, the vendor suggested to use an Edgeport box to convert RS232 to USB, then convert to ethernet port using a SuperBooster converter. The signal travels long distance in ethernet cable to the computer and get converted back to USB, then to the computer. In MAX, I was able to see 8 com ports from the Edgeport box, and I was able to communicate with my flow controllers.
The problem is, it will give me some error message occasionally. Sometime it's a VISA Read error, sometime it's a VISA framing error. Could this be caused by the way the signal is transmitted?
In the program I have four parallel WHILE loops that constantly do READ and WRITE to the 4 flow controllers. Could this be causing the errors? If so, what is the best strategy to design this program?
    Thanks

I agree with Mike, you will need an error handling strategy that accounts for these errors.  And retries the communications.  This can be a little tricky, but very doable.  I believe some sort of statemachine approach will work best for this.
As for your heated probe.  I would make some sort of hardware interlock that will shut it down in case of a coolant failure.  NEVER, EVER trust the computer to be running where safety is concerned, either for personal or hardware.  There are plenty of ICs that can monitor temperature, and have warning, and alarm outputs!  Another option is some sort of watchdog on the communications bus for the coolant control, but I think this is a bit more tricky.

  • Should I be getting electric shocks from the rear USB ports?

....of course I shouldn't but on occasion I do.
Also, 3 of the 4 rear USB connectors either don't work, or come up with a "USB Device not recognized" error.   NOTE:  I have no front USB ports attached.
Do I have a grouding problem (thats only manifested after 2 months of trouble free use)?
And/Or is there a software problem somewhere that has caused these USB ports not to work reliably?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

  • Charging Razr from my car USB port

    Greetings,
Since my car has a built in USB port, I was wondering if it would be sufficient to charge the battery in my Razr?  Given that I can charge it via a USB port from my PC or laptop, would there be any reason as to why it wouldn't work in my car?  I have the Verizon car charger but was thinking this might be a backup.
    Thanks in advance,
    John

A very good alternative to charge your Razr while your in your Car an is Motorola's Car charger it is a  OEM product an i own one an i use it to charge my Droid X an i will use it on my New R Maxx.

  • Recording and playback from microphone on MAC OS X?

    Hi there,
I have tried out recording using JavaSound....on Windows it works fine, but not on MAC OS X ... it give an "audio data not supported error".
So then i try using quicktime java... refering to the demo file
SoundRecord.java....i need to modify the codes....and make it into an applet. And since i will be runnning it from a CD, i need it to save on hard disc and later on retrieve it to Playback.
Has anyone dealt which this similar problem?
Please help me, i need to solve this as soon as possible.
    Thank you.

As i browsed thru the net...that is all i get...JavaSound cant work on MAC.So now i am doing using QuickTime Java. But i get an error when i run the applet...java.lang.SecurityExecption: Only able to capture media with security settings when class is signed.
    What do i do then?
I tried making it signed with a dummy certifiate...it is signed...but when i run it i get the same error message.
Please, i need this to be solved as soon as possible.

  • How to synchronize analog input and output from two different USB daq boards

    Hi all,
I have two very differnt USB boards the NI USB 6008, which I am using to acquire the data (Analog Input) and a NI USB 9263, it is an Analog Output only board that I am using to deliver a signal (in this case a square pulse). The reason why I am not using the 6008 Analog Ouputs is because I need to deliver negative voltages and need the full +/-10V range.
Looking at similar posts I am pretty sure that I can't use an external trigger or a shared clock, I also tried to use the synchronization of timed structures but no cigar.
I am including a quick vi that I whipped out showing how the signal jitters due to the lack of synchronization. The AO from the 9263 connects to the AI in the 6008 in this example.

  • Measure sound power and sound intensity with NI USB-9233

    Dear,
I'm new to Labview and I have a question. A few weeks ago, we have bought a CompactDAQ system with among other things a USB-9233 card.
Now I have found out it's also possible to do sound measurements with this card.
I would like to do sound intensity measurements and sound power calculations. Is it possible?
I have LV 7.0 and the Sound and Vibration Toolset for LV. Do I need additional hardware and/or software?
We currently have B&K microphones and a B&K sound intensity probe. Can I use them with the 9233 card?
Or do we need to buy new equipment?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ronny C

The USB-9233 only works with pre-polarized microphones.   This means that the ICP (IEPE or Deltatron as B&K calls it) is always enabled.   IThe sound intensity probe you have probably requires a 200V power supply.    We have a new module coming out soon (January 2008) called the NI 9234 that offers options to enable/disable the ICP as well as AC/DC coupling and 51.2 kS/s sampling rate.
With this you could use your sound intensity probe with this module if you had a precision power supply.   It will also work with our other dynamic signal acquisition producuts like the NI 446X, NI 4472, and NI 449X that allow you to turn-off ICP.   You can use the 9233 with a GRAS sound intensity probe that has ICP type microphones.
In addition, one of the GRAS designers gave a presentation at NI Week on making Sound Intensity measurements with LabVIEW that I can send to you.   They are going to offer the code to interested users and we will post it on our web site.    In addition they plan to implement a multi channel version for vector intensity with our higher channel count products.
You would need to have the Sound and Vibration toolkit or Measurement Suite with LabVIEW 8.X for optimal results.   The latest version of the Sound and Vibration toolkit just released in December with additional features including the Sound and Vibration Assistant, human vibration filters, and more Express VIs.
