Continuously rebooting after upgrade to 7.5.1.a

Hi everybody
After upgrading our SPA phones to 7.5.1.a firmware, we're having problems with bmp logos.
With a SPA303, if you put the logo address in the provisioning file...
<BMP_Picture_Download_URL>tftp://192.168.1.100/logo.bmp</BMP_Picture_Download_URL>
... after making reset to default parameters, and let the phone load provisioning parameters, it starts rebooting again, and again, and again... If you remove this parameter, everything goes well.
If you monitor the tftp server (tail -f /var/log/daemon.log), you'll see the phone reboots just after request the logo file.
With a SPA504G happens the same if I configure the logo file in the web interface. Phone starts rebooting continuosly.
We've had to remove the logos, because it seems something's broken in this new release.
Does anybody have the same problem?
Regards
Alberto

I've just tested it with new firmware 7.5.2b and the problem persists.
Nelson, about the workaround...
- If you put the logo in the web interface, the phone doesn't reboot. But after that change, if you reboot the phone electrically, it starts rebooting again.
- It's not only with a brand new unit. It happens always after doing a Factory Reset and let the phone provisioning again.
I've tested it with a SPA504G and a SPA303, and both has the problem. They work OK with firmware 7.4.9.
I've also tested it with HTTP provisioning, and happens the same.
So at the moment I don't have a valid workaround, except removing the logo from provisioning . Without logo, it works ok. Anyway, loading the logo using web interface it's not option if you have many phones...
Nelson, you already have my files, and it keeps failing ALWAYS to me. I think this is a big problem, because logo it's something that clients really appreciate and because the phone turns unusable.
Let me know how can I help you...

  • Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
    Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
    Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
    Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
    1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt....  Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
    Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
    2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
    3. Using windows registry:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
    4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
    5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
    6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
    7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
    8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
    9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
    10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
    Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click change or remove programs.
    6. Select the program -service pack 3 that you want to uninstall or remove.

    8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
    9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

I hope this helps someone who is having this problem. It sure took me a minute to get it all figured out. :0)

Still useful as of 12/30/11. Have ten Lenovo 5042 computers with downgrade licenses to run XP and have a ghosted image from another Lenovo 5042 having and Intel cpu. My target computers all have AMD cpus in them and the image would continuously reboot on
    the AMD computers.
Used method 1 and it cleared the problem instantly, many thanks for the post and the time and effort it took to dig up the answer..

  • My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

I FINALLY got it to work on BOTH iPhone 4 and iPpad 3.  Here is what I had to do:
Had to DELETE all e-mail accounts including icloud.
Did a hard reset (hold down button on top right corner and round button on bottom center)
Then once it came back on, the iPhone had ALL of the accounts still on it and it was receivng e-mail.
The iPad receive e-mail until I did the steps above 5 times.  Plus, I had to add back all of the e-mail accounts vs. on the iPhone 4 they were there when my phone came on.
Now I am receiving e-mail on both devices normally.
No clue why this happened, but Apple needs to find a fix ASAP.

  • Lenovo A6000 keeps rebooting after upgrading to Kraft-A6000_S029_150212

I just updated my new Lenovo A6000 smartphone to Kraft-A6000_S029_150212 version. Since then, it is continuously rebooting. It comes up, stays for 5 seconds, UI hangs and then reboots.Need urgent help on how to recover. With great difficulty, was able to switch off the phone as it wasn't giving me enough time to power off. The continuous booting up sound was irritating people sitting nearby and I wasn't even able to turn off that sound.

Will check with service centre and update here. FYI - I had received the phone on 13-Feb-2015 and as soon as i switched it on, it prompted for a software upgrade. So I upgraded (over WiFi) with whatever was the latest software version available at that time. After that upgrade also, the phone used to automatically reboot atleast 3-4 times a day randomly. I thought that could be a bug in that version and to take care of that, I upgraded to the latest version this morning only to end up in constant reboot mode. So not sure if this could be a manufacturing defect too. Thanks.

What should I? Whait for ios 8? Forget Apple products for good?
    Thanks.

Thanks for your advice! I don´t live in the US. I can see there are a lot of people having the same issue after upgrading to ios 7.1. Is it possible that my iphone just got broken? I repeat that after the upgrade it worked perfectly fine.
    Kind regards.

  • Will my bootcamp continue functioning after upgrading to Mavericks?

    Hello, everybody!
I have an early 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro running Lion and I consider upgrading to Mavericks. The "problem" is that I also have Windows installed on the computer via Bootcamp and I would like to know if this is supposed to continue working after the upgrade. My current Bootcamp version is 4.0.1. and I have Windows 7-32bit.
    Thank you in advance

Yes, it is. Back up everything first in case a problem occurs.

  • 10.5.2 Feature causes machine to shutdown upon reboot after upgrade.

After upgrading to 10.5.2, the machine reboots, then after
a lengthy spinny gear on the up swing, it promptly turns itself off. Boot up several
times, same result. Boot into single user mode, run fsck, after clearing
the boot disk, fsck gives me an error of some non existent drive. New in 10.5.2:
"the computer will now shut down if an automatic disk repair does not succeed during startup."
Turns out i had an old entry in the /etc/fstab file ... silly me.
Anyway just passin that one on for all other forgetful folks.
    -miles

    OK,
I at least got the repair to work and it said there were no problems. I remember when I was waiting for the reboot after the 10.5.2 install that the fans went all crazy in my iMac and then settled down. I remember an issue a while back where this happened and it was because of the SMU... or System Management Unit. In older Macs it is called the PMU (Power Management Unit) so do a search for that if SMU doesn't bring anything up.
Resetting this usually resolves power related issues.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301733
The above link describes how to do it on the iMac G5... you may need to do a search in Apple Support for your particular Mac. Be sure to use the search field on the left of the screen, not in the Apple.com navigation bar at the top right.
Did you also try resetting your PRAM? You do that by restarting (or starting) the Mac. Press and hold CommandOption+PR all at the same time. Keep them held down until the computer restarts again. I just did this (and still haven't reset my SMU) and the Mac has not shutdown on me yet.
If it does start to shutdown randomly again I will reset the SMU and let you know how it goes.
    Good Luck!!

  • LG Extravert locking up/rebooting after upgrade to VN271ZV4

I'm having a big problem with my new Extravert and wanted to post this as an inquiry and a warning to anyone who may be considering the V4 upgrade.  I received my phone yesterday (as a replacement for my aged Cosmos 1).  Everything was working fine on this phone.  This morning, I performed the VZW OTA update and it found/installed VN271ZV4.  After the update/reboot, I have found that any time I try to access anything to do with the phones memory (my pics, music, camera, etc) the phone would freeze then reboot after about one minute.
Has anyone else run into this problem?  If so, have you been able to resolve it?
I do not have a cable with me, but once I am home, I will try to use LG's updater software to reupdate the new firmware and see if it resolves the problem.

    Hi SuzyQ,
I hd tried a battery pull, *228 option 2, and finally a hard reset (resetting the phone back to factory default, then re-activating) all to no avail.  I called VZW support and the tech agreed that the phone's internal memory is corrupt.  He had me go to a local VZW store and they swapped out the phone for me.  All is well now.  New phone is updated to ZV4 and there are no isses.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • My iPhone hangs every time on reboot after upgrading to OS 3.0

This is really weird. The upgrading process was successful and my phone was activated.
However, after upgrading, I did a reboot by powering off and then powering on. It stops at the first stage displaying a white apple on the black background.
I recovered it and restore the last OS and tried again. It happened again. I don't think this is a problem for me only.
My phone is iPhone 3G, Hong Kong unlocked edition. I have not flashed any jailbroken rom before.

To follow up, I read up on "Apple logo of death", which appears to exactly describe this situation. It looks like a reboot can sometimes deactivate all the third party apps as a failsafe.
I tried to track down a particular app that caused this issue, but after deleting and installing a handful of apps, it seems the problem has gone away. Maybe doing this has redrawn a proper application map? I will see if everything seems fine over the next while.

  • Problems with Mini--continued reboot after update

I recently was given a Mini to play with. I was having some issues with it when I first received it. I read some forum posts and some other non-apple related help files on the internet. I finally got the Mini to work correctly, at least I was able to get to the menu screen and get the Mini recognized by my computer. When iTunes recognized my new ipod I was told to update the software, I did. The update that was "needed" was 1.4.1. I went ahead and downloaded this update. I was then told to plug the Mini into the wall outlet to make the update complete. I did this as well. I left the Mini plugged into the wall, using the Apple AC adapter and the provided USB connector. The Mini flashed the apple icon then the "plug into the wall" icon. I left the Mini plugged in overnight, I had no idea how long it would take to finish the update. The next day I tried to plug the Mini into my computer and I got a message telling me that my ipod might be corrupt and I should reset the ipod back to original settings. I tried that.
Now, as I type this, I have the same Mini plugged into my computer and it does not register as a USB device on my computer and itunes does not even recognize that it is connected. The Mini seems to be caught in some kind of rebooting loop. The screen continually reboots, going from the apple icon to the "plug in" icon. I don't know what else to try, besides throwing the ipod away.
I would really like some help with this problem. I have tried the 5Rs and I have gotten nowhere. I will gladly take any suggestion that can be made.
I am running a Dell Inspiron with Windows Vista Basic, if that helps. Thank you for any help.

I have followed your intruction and it does not correct the problem. Diskmode does not appear. The ipod is completely locked out. The apple symbol appears, followed by the plug-in picture and that is all.
This is a result of an update to version 1.4.1 via iTunes. Surely Apple have to provide a fix for this error as it was no fault of anyone elses that these ipods are now rendered useless.
To make matters worse, I have all my uni assessment information on the ipod, which is my sister's, and I can no longer access it. My assessment is in 2 days.
If I have to get the ipod "repaired" due to an apple update then that is plain ridiculous. To cost me money for repair due to an update provided by apple? That's insane. Apple should take responsibility for the problems this update has caused and provide a fix.

  • Continual reboot after win2k sp3 or sp4 install

Works w/ win2k sp2. With sp3 or sp4 installed reboots after logon screen (CtlAltDel) appears. BSOD quickly followed by splash screen of "Out of Range" message. Couldn't read BSOD message. Works fine after un-install sp* from safe mode. Fails when disp adapter set to VGA or SVGA modes. Fails w/ either PCI(STB) or AGP(GeForce2 MX-400). Un-installed display driver - still fails outside of safe mode.
Any help is appreciated!  Thanx. -mw13j

Try increasing your RAMs Voltage by 0.1v and do a clean format on your C: partition before installation or you could just update through Windows Update where everything is updated through windows 1st before rebooting.

  • Continues rebooting after installing system upgrade

    Hi
I have a HP voicetab 7. Today (10.02.2015) got a system upgrade. after installing the system upgrade, my tab is switching on but stuckup in the boot screen.
    what to do next.

    Hey @jagan_0018 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand after a failed update to KitKat your Slate 7 Voice Tab will not boot.
    Please try the following.
    1. Download the update.zip for your device and copy the file to the root directory of an empty micro-SD card (at least 1 GB, FAT 32 format). Do not unzip this file. You can find the update.zip for your device here: HP - Drivers & Downloads.
NOTE: You will need the exact model number to locate the correct package. There are multiple update.zip recovery images available. Ensure you select the correct download for your region. If your tablet does not boot after attempting to update you may need to try both the KitKat and JellyBean images. For information on finding your product or model number click here: Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
    2. Fully charge the tablet and then disconnect the power from the device.
    3. Power off the device.
If your tablets micro-SD slot is on the side or bottom of your tablet skip to step 5.
4a. Place the tablet on a flat surface, display panel side down, with the release notch towards you.
NOTE: Before positioning the tablet with the display panel facing down, make sure the work surface is clear of any foreign objects. Failure to follow this caution can result in damage to the display panel assembly.
4b. Remove the back cover. Use the release notch to remove the back cover.
4c. Insert the micro-SD memory card into the reader slot.
4d. Reverse the procedure detailed above to install the back cover.
    5. Insert the micro-SD card into the micro-SD card reader.
    6. Press and hold the volume up button and power button at the same time.
    7. When the HP logo appears on the screen, release all the buttons.
    8. When the Android system recovery menu appears, use the volume down button to highlight "apply update from external storage".
    9. Press the power button to validate "apply update from external storage".
    10. Use the volume down button to highlight the software recovery file, update.zip.
    11. Press the power button to select the update.zip file and launch the recovery.
NOTE: Wait until the entire recovery process finishes. The device might seem unresponsive at times (multiple reboots and black screens) when it is performing the update.
If this does not resolve the issue please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • Desktop/Finder keeps rebooting after upgraded to Maverick (mac mini hooked up to a home theater system)

My desktop keeps rebooting ever since I upgraded to Mavericks.
Current setup, Mac Mini hooked up to home theater (Panasonic SC-HTB20) that is then hooked up to my Panasonic Plasma TV.
I usually leave my Mac Mini on running and at least once a day when I turn on the TV I can see that my desktop was rebooted. Firefox and Chrome will say that it wasn't shut down properly and if I want to restore my previous session. Also some times when I switched the input to watch TV and switch back, all my windows will be scattered out of place. For example Chrome will be in the top left hand corner to the point that it's almost minimized and I wouldn't be able to move it as well. Only thing I can do is close out these applications and relaunch them. It doesn't appear that the OS actually crashed, but more like the desktop/finder itself crashed. Cause once in a while I will switch back or turn on the TV and the screen will stay black for a few minutes then I'll see the cursor in the top right hand corner. After that I will start to see the desktop and my application start loading. It doesn't go through the regular process of rebooting where you see the Apple logo so I don't think the OS actually crashed but I could be wrong.
For some reason it seems like Maverick doesn't like the home theater system. An almost guarantee way to reproduce the issue is to wait for the home theater to turn off after it's been inactive for a while. If I turn it on the home theater to have the audio coming from it I will see the desktop goes black immediately then the whole desktop reboot process I mentioned above will kick in.
Never had any of these issues on 10.7 before I upgraded to Maverick.
Anybody have any suggestion? I really don't want to format and downgrade back to 10.7.
    Thanks

    Sounds like a kernel panic.
If you post the report we could have a go at deciphering it.
It would be in /Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports.
