Continuously Refreshing Apple screen

I just updated my 5G 60 gig iPod to the new firmware. I was able to use my iPod perfectly up until the disconnection from the computer. My iPod displayed the "Plug into the wall" screen. That's a little odd seeing as how my iPod is a 5g. It usually only does that for 4G and below. But now that I plugged it into the wall, all it does is go to the black screen with a silver apple on it, reset itself and go right back to it.
Could my iPod have been updated with the fourth generation's firmware on accident? I really want it fixed again!

****!
The iPod finally died from nonstop hard disk use. I plugged it into the computer and an old iPod photo non-color charging icon. You know, the old
icon except without going past the first part.
My iPod must have been flashed with the wrong firmware. Any idea on how to get it back to iPod 5G firmware?

  • Recently my ipod touch (old version ) was not working correctly, so i deleted everything from it---expecting to start fresh, however when i start  it up it continues to stay on the apple screen, what is wrong with my ipod and how can i fix it ?

my  ipod doesn't allow me to do the thiings it used to. It would change the time and date and everytime i'd turn it to the correct date it would go back when i clicked a new app. it wouldn't load apps corectly because of this date and time problem. So i decided to erase everything and start fresh. But now it won't even load properly it just stays on the apple screen with the loading spin thing stuck. someone please guide me into fixing this problem

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ibook G3 won't pass the apple screen on startup!

    Hi guys
My sister's bought an used ibook G3 model M6497 (2001), it was working great until onde day she tried to turn it on and it won't pass through the apple screen. An icon keeps spinning, i can hear the HDD spinning too but nothing else happens. I tried to go to the setup screen holding down the option key while you power it on and it kicks me to a blue screen with a HDD icon in the middle of the screen and a X on the bottom left corner of the same HDD icon and this icon has written 'untitled' underneath. On the left side of this HDD icon a refresh button and on the right a straight arrow (continue) button. If i press the straight arrow it brings me back to the apple screen and won't pass it, if i click the refresh nothing changes on that same blue screen, also i can't select the HDD icon.
She doesn't have the recovery cds, the person who she bought it from did not had them either, and it's impossible to find those cds.
Any help here would be very welcomed.
    Thanks.

I'm afraid you're gonna need the system CDs.
You can find the serial number:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27282?viewlocale=en_US
and then try _calling Apple_. Ask for Legacy Hardware, give them the serial number, and see if they have the CDs available for the iBook. If they do, they will send them to you (for a fee).
    Good luck.

  • When using rogers.yahoo mail, I need to refresh my screen after every 2-3 actions.

While using Rogers.yahoo mail in FireFox, the screen freezes after every 2-3 actions (read email, delete email, respond to email, move email to folder etc.). I have to refresh the screen and then it goes along for another 2-3 actions and I have to refresh again. Very frustrating. I opened the same email account in Google Chrome and IE and it works fine there. This started happening yesterday.

  • MBP OS Leopard update that now hangs at the grey apple screen

I ran software update for OS Leopard on my MBP yesterday and it has been in a continuous boot cycle that never gets past the grey Apple screen. The only sign of life is that periodically it will make the boot noise and the computer remains quite warm.  I have tried shutting down completely and then rebooting in safe mode and also rebooting using the OS disk but I'm pretty sure the Leopard OS disk doesn't work as a boot disk.  So my first issue is to try and fix the boot problem.  The second is that clever me didn't back up before hand so I am looking at trying to connect by firewire to my iMac and try and recover some files... given the issue would this be possible?

See if it boots into Target mode...

If so it should act like an expensive Firewire Drive for your other Mac.

  • My ipod Classic hangs and freezes on the apple screen.  It will not do anything.  I tried to restore using iTunes, but came out 1415 error code, and cannot do anything about it.

My iPod Classic which I rarely uses.  I try to refresh it and put new song into it.
As I try with iTunes, it runs very slow and show that it had problem, need to restore it.
When I tried, it will not and hangs, also slows my HP Win 7 system immensly.
I tried to reset, pressing the middle and menu botton, now it hangs on the apple screen and remains there forever.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.

  • Another G5 iMac won't boot past grey Apple screen!! HELP!!!

Last night I tried to put my iMac to sleep. it took about 3 times, and it finally went to sleep. Today I tried to wake it up but I got the little spinning disk, and it would not wake up. I could not restart it from the screen, so I pulled out the power cord as I have had to do a few times in the past with no problems. Today when I plugged it back in it got to the grey Apple screen, but no little progress circle. I waited & waited, nothing happened so I cycled power again. This time I got the progress timer circle, but again after about 20 minutes nothing happened. I then put the install disc in and booted from that. Tried verify disc, but it failed saying it could not un-mount the volume. Tried verifying permissions, but it seemed to get stuck with just a fraction left on the progress bar, so I quit & tried again (basically where I'm at now). I have also noticed that if I choose the "start up disc" (while running from the disc) the only thing that shows in a network icon. My HD does not show up as an option. For about the past 5 months I have noticed my HD has been a bit noisy. Kind of a whirling sound that seems to get louder then quiet down & repeat....not real loud, but loud enough so I have noticed it. I have been worried that something like this might happen.
update: while repairing permissions I just got a "Disc utility error" says Disc utility has lost it's connection with the disc management tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disc Utility. This is the same message I got the last time I tried to run it. I also have an OSX Leopard install DVD...should I be starting from that disc, or the install disc that came with it? If I should be using the newer disc, how would I get the other disc out of the machine?
So....am I up the creek with out a paddle, or is there anything I could try?
any advise would be greatly appreciate as ALL my data is on my iMac and not this POS PC I have to use now.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Using Target Disk Mode is an excellent, idea, you should be able to drag your data on to the new machine.

  • My Macbook Pro will not load past grey Apple screen...

Last night my Macbook Pro froze so I closed it and went to bed. Today when I opened it, it was still frozen, so I held down the power button and rebooted it. It got as far as the grey Apple screen with the spinning wheel and will not load any further than that. I've rebooted a couple times since and it continues to do the same thing, stays on the grey screen forever.
I searched this problem on the Apple Support Communitites and none of suggestions (holding Shift after the startup tone, holding Command+R) have worked so far. Is there any way to fix this problem without losing my data or having to pay to talk to Apple Support? PLEASE HELP! :(

Hire the services of a local Mac computer repair before you delete your data by accident.
You can jump down and do #8, that might clear the issue right away, but some programs are not going to work and require updating or reinstalling again.

I Don't know that recovery mode would work, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
IF that fails, have you considered erasing the device using Find my iPhone in iCloud.com? I'm not sure what good that would do either of the iPad continues to freeze, but if nothing else is working .....

  • Mac Pro (early 2008) No chime, pixelated white apple screen

My Mac Pro (early 2008) stopped working this morning. It was working fine yesterday, but did not start today.
i Press the power button, and there is no chime. The fan whirls around and the cd disc drive makes a noise. The startup screen shows up with Pixelated black bars across the whole screen.
this his stays onscreen, freezes for a few minutes, then restarts And continues the cycle of freezing and restarting.
iI've tried to reset the smc and pram and that hasn't done anything.
i've cleaned the inside of the computer, checked the RAM and graphics card, they seem to be in good working order.
does anyone know what's wrong with it?

    Hi BDAqua
i tried safe boot. The white apple screen still comes up pixelated but with a grey loading bar at the bottom. Once the bar has loaded fully, nothing happens. it stays frozen on that screen until I have to force it to shutdown by pressing and holding the power button on the front of the tower.
i Tried holding the alt key. It brings up the devices, the screen is still pixelated. Pressing either one of the disk drives, didn't do anything new Unfortunately.

  • After Update to 10.5.8, stuck on Grey Apple screen with turning gear...

After Update to 10.5.8, stuck on Grey Apple screen with turning gear... and it just stays there...
Apparently I can't safe mode it
Started it in verbose mode and it say disk02 i/o error
Then I restarted it in single user mode, did a sbin/fsck -fy and it says that:
    *files have been modified*
    *REBOOT NOW*
I reboot and still the same problem.
When I put in the install disk it says *cannot install in this drive* (was thinking about archive and reinstall, but I suppose not ) then when I repair and verify, it says All seems OK
    Yikes. Yikes!
    Please help.
Message was edited for additional clarity by: BrzrKrk

Well, I brought to the Apple Store's genius bar. Can't say enough about the experience... they archived and reinstalled... tried everything else and like sometimes happens, transfer of data can become corrupt in a spot that just makes things go haywire. So the Archive and Reinstall worked like a charm.
Moreover, they replaced my Macbook's top board casing (don't know what else to call it..) (where you rest your hands to type) it was cracked and stuff... not under warranty, but they will replace it free due to design ... I am impressed and pleased... *and me? I am a cynical critic* still, they made the experience as painless and certainly pleasant as possible.
For all who are having problems, I urge you to not damage the wall any further with continuous headbanging: make an appointment and definitely visit the Genius Bar. Your head will thank you

  • My macbook from 2008 which I bought used worked fine for 3 weeks and then suddenly it started restarting and now it restarts, goes to grey apple screen and a code saying something about a kernel panic appears and it restarts again and again. Help?

My macbook from 2008 which I bought used worked fine for 3 weeks and then suddenly it started restarting and now it restarts, goes to grey apple screen and a code saying something about a kernel panic appears and it restarts again and again. Help?

Restart the computer and immediately hold the Option key down.
Select the Recovery partition and continue.
On the next pane, select Disk Utility and continue.
When DU opens, select your hard drive in the left column, click the First Aid tab, the click Repair Disk.
When that is done, quit DU and restart in the usual way.

  • IMac won't reboot past the apple screen. 2009 10.6?

My iMac wont reboot past the white apple screen! What do I do?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • IPhone 5 won't get past apple screen (keeps restarting)

    Hello
Bought an iphone 5 just before the ios 7 release and for the last little while the phone would shut off a After a full charge when it hit approximately 97% of full charge it would shut off!  Now it won't get past the apple screen and just keeps restarting over and over again.
Does anyone else have this problem with their iphone 5 and if so any solutions???
Our carrier Fido says this is an IOS 7 issue. Can anyone help
    Thanks
    Shep

    Hey Shep77,
That definitely sounds frustrating! To completely isolate the issue, you may want to restore your iPhone in recovery mode, as outlined in this article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
iPhone is unresponsive and displays the Apple Logo
Review this article: iOS: Unable to update or restore.
.The above article also has great troubleshooting steps for Power issues, you may want to run through those if restoring does not resolve your issue:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
